Ok, so it will be Rublev vs Nadal QF. I think Nadal being the king of clay is unstoppable in this tournament. And the last person to beat him in clay is Diego Schwartzman who exited in this tournament very early if I'm not mistaken.

Djokovic lost is a big shocker, Tsitsipas vs Fokina on-going, Fokina leading the first set 4-3 but Tsitsipas serving to tie the score. ML for Tsitsipas is not that attractive just @1.14.

A weird loss for Đoković today, I did not expect such a bad performance from him. He said afterwards that this was one of the worst matches he played in the last few years.

Fun fact - this was their first h2h match and Đoković is 33 and Evans 30 years old. Not something you see very often and Evans has a rare opportunity to finish his career with a positive score against a player who beat all the records Grin

It was just an off day for Djokovic, we see this time and time again in these tournaments where the top players lose matches we don't expect them to lose which is why I stay away from betting in these tournaments. THe top players just use these tournaments most to gain match fitness and stay match fit ready for the grand slams.

I didnt see the match but was shocked to hear the result, no disrespect to
Evans but its a game Djokovic was expected to win comfortably.

The tournament officials would be dissapointed, they would be hoping
for the top cedes to make it to the final, a big ticket final like Djokovic V Nadal

the match that i thought Djokovic could win easily is the one that he lost and got out of the tournament in the first rounds, i didn't see that coming, now the only contenders for the tiltle are Nadal of course, Tsetsipas and Rublev, i think it's between the three of them.
With all the names left, Nadal looks like it will be easy to get the trophy in this tournament, not looking to demean the other players, but in Clay he's king, and almost hard to beat.
I remember the last one who could beat him at Clay is diego schwartzman was last year's in Italy, after that he still unstoppable in Clay.
Even when he will face Rublev who is also the seed in this tournament, the odds for Nadal are very low, only 1,085, which is very unattractive for bettors.

He admitted after the game that he really feels awful as Evans handled Djokovic his first lost in 2021. It just shows that Djokovic surface is not clay though.

Another fun fact - 0-7 against top 5 opponents

Lost on clay for 10 consecutive games dating back to 2017.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/apr/15/dan-evans-stuns-novak-djokovic-with-straight-sets-win-at-monte-carlo-masters

I didn't check the odds but for sure the ML for Evans is huge. And I'm not sure if tennis bettors give him a chance.

Unexpected, but yeah, probably he had an off day against Evans. We can't take away anything from Evan though, he played very well and push Djokovic.

Stefanos Tsitsipas should go through to the semi-final unless he has a bad match and lets himself down again. Nadal will have a tough match against Rublev however as its on clay you have to go for Nadal to win the match but I wouldn't be surprised to see the match go to three sets.

I do hope mate, his next match will be against Fokina, relatively unknown, so I do hope that he can win easy and take a rest. Rublev on a tough game against Bautista-Agut, but he prevail in 3 sets.

Evans upset Hurkacz the other day and now the two are going to face each other. I still think that Djokovic can cover again, Evans might be good, but Djokovic will have an easy day again.
Thought the same but it seems Djokovic had a bad day in the office. Did not watch the game but I read his statement and number of unforced errors so I have to conclude this was the case of Djokovic playing bad instead of Evans playing the match of his life. No matter, I am sure Djokovic will be in his top form for RG for hopefully another classic against Nadal in final.

Who would have thought that this is going to happen?

Evans defeated Djokovic 6-4, 7-5. At first I thought that Djokovic won, but seeing who's his next opponent, it dawn on me that he actually losses the game. So Evans will be going against Goffin.

Nadal is on the win on winning against Dimitrov, while Stepanos Tsitsipas is through to the next round.

Hmm.... I've just seen the match between Nole and Sinner. Ended fairly routine for Novak but it was a battle at times. However, Nole was solid in his 1st clay match this season (kept the opponent deep behind the baseline, also did the damage with drop shots). Sinner is already a strong player but maybe not on his favorite surface today (was too nervy ......probably wanted to display his A-game versus world number 1). we can say he burned with desire.

I just checked the scores, 6-4 6-2 so it is a dominating win by Djokovic.

I agree that most of the times, this young players are nervous just to see Djokovic in the others side, so there's this so called intimidation factor. Probably Sinner is more suited for fast surface, but there are a lot of players that is also good.

Nadal against Delbonis, Rafa leading the game. Hurkacz lost the first set again Evans, this is going to be an interesting match to watch if Hurkacz can come back and win the match.

True, but Djokovic is playing outstandingly well. I think he will gain the lead in Grand Slam wins very soon. Will be interesting to see him face Nadal this tourney. I just saw Federer delayed his comeback. Anyone knows when he will return to the tour?

Yes, Djokovic is the youngest of the big 3 and he still has years playing and he can break Roger Federer's record. Nadal is doing good in the tournament, but he will be facing Dimitrov next round, but I think that Nadal will have this one, he is just starting to heat up in this clay.

No news for Federer's comeback, most likely he is not 100% yet. So he is very careful in choosing when to comeback and what tournament it will be.

Novak played really well, Jannik Sinner tried but his efforts were not enough to beat Djoko, i had hopes on Jannik to do something like winning a set but i got disappointed, novak plays against D. Evans tomorrow which seems really easy for him to secure the win and qualify for the next round.

Sinner did good actually, it's just that Djokovic is way above his league even even in this surface.

It's not the end of the road for Jannik though, this is just a test for him and get a feel on what it's like to face the best tennis player of this generation.

Yes I agree, Djokovic will most likely end he's career as the top grand slam winner if he can stay fit and healthy. We have seen this many times when the young players come up against Djokovic, Nadal and Federer, they play good early on in the match but they can not sustain it through out the whole match. The class of these players always seems to find a way to win matches even when they are down. That is why they are hard to beat and also the young players don't seem to have the mental toughness to win matches even when they are in a winning position in the match.

I was hoping that we would see Federer play however I'm thinking that he is waiting for the grass court season as that is he's favourite court and it will be less stress on he's aging body.

It wasn't that simple match or as they tend to say "one way traffic"
Please check the stats: Djokovic 5/10 break points;  Sinner 2/4

Jannick Sinner is not an easy opponent either, he can cause some problems and make it really difficult for Novak Djokovic, he is young and he showed what he's capable of in the past masters tournament in Miami, i am expecting him to at least win a set against Novak.

I agree, Sinner is a young talent and can even may cause an upset and beat Djokovic. Not going to bet on Sinner to win, but an asian handicap on Sinner has some value in my eyes.
Sinner is a good player and he will have his chance to surprise Djokovic. It should be much easier for Sinner since this is Djokovic first match on clay this season. If this was the final Djoko would destroy him for sure,  this can go both ways. I am actually surprised how big odds on Djoko are. Probably not betting on this one though, too tough to call before seeing Djoko play.

@Trofo even Djokovic has spoken highly about Sinner, and he too is looking forward to this tough contest which makes this match very interesting to watch for the fans. Also Sinner has agreed that this will be his toughest test, and irrespective of the results he’ll gain invaluable experience which will only help him grow further.
