I like the fact that potentially going forward the tournaments may be a little
more open rather than 3 players dominating, similar to the ladies game I suppose.

That's still a big question mark though, specially in Grand Slams. Probably ATP Masters 250-500 they have a chance, but with big tournaments wherein there's a lot of spotlight, some of they succumb to the limelight or just break down under the pressure of press.

For tomorrow, I dont mind either player winning, Hurkacz has been around since 2015,
he plays a simple style of tennis but does it well, nice for him to have another win but
I really like Sinner, He seems very focussed for a young man and ultra professional.

Hard to back either.

It's really hard to see, but Sinner is now the favorite to win based on sportbookies @1.5x odds ML.

Has a new tennis star just appeared?
''Italian teenager Jannick Sinner reached his first ATP Masters 1000 final with a stunning victory at the Miami Open.''
''The 19-year-old world number 31 recovered from a break down in the final set to beat Spanish seventh seed Roberto Bautista Agut 5-7 6-4 6-4.''

It seems that this tennis tournament is full of surprises because in the second match the tennis player who was the favorite also lost.
Hubert Hurkacz beat Andrey Rublev 6-3 6-4.
Tennis is becoming more and more interesting to follow because there are no more sure winners.

I really thought Rublev would win that match, as did many others I imagine.
With the top 3 absent are the younger replacements able to to deal with the
pressure and expectations put on them?

Yeah, I guess the pressure on him in this game, Medvedev and then Tsitsipas and now Rublev, so we are right after all the the supposedly young generation who should take the torch is not yet ready even if the big 3 is not present in this tournament.

This is going to be an interesting final, really cant call who will win, who would
have predicted such a match up?

Indeed, but I'm hoping to see Sinner to win, he already proven himself at a young age.

After losing in the first set, unfortunately Rublev was unable to make the match to the third set, he immediately lost in two sets.
When the big three did not play, unfortunately the young players who were predicted to replace their position were not able to reach the final such as Medvedev, Rublev, Zverev, and also Tsitsipas.

Sinner just won, this young Italian can be one of the stronger Italians ever in this sport and IMHO in the top 10 world ranking in 2 years.
He destroyed mentally an experienced top 10 player at 19yo

IMPRESSIVE

Time will tell how good he is, yes he has been very good through out this tournament however I'll be interested to see how well he does against a Nadal or Djokovic. I still have my doubts on these young players because they seem to perform well in these tournaments but when it comes to grand slams and coming up against the top players they seem to fail. I do hope that he can go on and win the tournament as its always nice to see a young up and comer win a big tournament like this one.

Yes, it's really a good opportunity for these players to get their tournament win here since the big 3 is out. So let's see, they have the momentum and probably very confident that they can win again. But facing the big 3, it might be a different story.

Hurkacz winning the first set and then leading the second, Rublev is trying his best to even the score in the second set, so let's see how this match will go.

I think it is normal at his age.
He has the skill and maybe the numbers too since he already defeated several times at this point players in the top 20.

The problem is the lack of experience since it will come with time when you accelerate when taking time when changing the type of tennis you play.

For example, the best Nadal was probably around 30yo.

Yes he is unbelievable, he comes across as being very mentally strong and experienced.

He keeps calm always and doesnt let his emotions show possible weaknesses.

I think this guy could trouble either Rublev or Hurkacz but I recon it will be Rublev.
He is the too ranked player remaining and with the top 3 absent and Medvedev
gone he will see his chance.

What a final this potentially will be

Still a good finals, Rublev vs Bautista-Agut, to tough players. And I think Roberto can pull a upset here. Just one out focus play from Rublev, he might be taken by surprised here.

Don't rule Hurkacz out yet, he can still win against Rublev.
I am sort of counting on it. He has great serve and very flat backhand and forehand shots which are impossible to defend. Of course those same shots are very risky and Hurkacz is prone to gifting a lot of unforced errors to his opponents.

Just placed a bet on Hurkacz to take one set @2.0, I wanted to take handicap but the lines are posted very low. Never seen a match where favorite is valued @1.23 and handicap is placed on 3.5. It should have been at least 4.5 if not 5.5  and I would have taken it then.

Yes, disappointed again, but what can we say, Hurkacz is the better tennis player that day, and it seems that Tsitsipas was really out from the first few games in the first set as he really look gaze and tired from the weather. Again, maybe this covid-19 air has really affected this young talents, or majority of the players.

That's the thing with Tsitsipas, he is not always consistent. He is incredible talented and can beat the best (remender his QF at the AO this year against Nadal) but at other moments he just fails.

Loads of errors from Tsitsipas in crucial moments as well as Hurkacz playing solid tennis. Even when Hurkacz was serving for the match the first point he made a big error, probably because of nerves but then composed himself and made all first serves and patiently waited for Tsitsipas to make errors.

Andreescu had an incredible game against Sakkari. Pre match she stated that she'd like to play a shorter 2-0 match so that she gets plenty rest for the finals(if she goes through). She has been basically only playing 3 setters other than the first round win. Now, she'll face another dominant player and the top seed for the tournament in Barty. Barty in her semis managed to get past in form Svitolina. Should be a good finals to watch but I think Barty is just too solid to lose. especially since Andrescu has been playing really long matchs.

Medvedev vs Bautista-Agut already playing now. Sinner already takes out out Bublik.

@vella85  - let's see how tough Stefanos Tsitsipas Hubert Hurkacz is a dangerous player, but I think he can beat him. It will just take more of his mind to believed that he can go on the semis or even be the eventual champion in this tournament.

Again my friend, Tsitsipas lets us down. Yes Hurkacz is a tough opponent for him but he should of won the match after winning the first set. I just don't know why he isn't able to go on and win matches when it comes to the finals of a tournament. He really needs to work on he's mentality but we have been saying this for the past 2 years now. To be honest it seems to be with all the young talent coming through and as I have said, we won't be seeing them winning grand slams until the big three retire because the young talent for some reason can't deal with the pressure.

Medvedev also lost however it wasn't really a surprise to me as Roberto Bautista Agut has been in good form. He looks to be the one to beat in this tournament. We could see a Andrey Rublev/ Roberto Bautista Agut final.

@aoluain - Yes, I never expected Naomi Osaka losing against 23rd seed Sakkari. It's my first time to see Osaka getting a bagel in the first set. And her 23 (how ironic) winning streak has ended.

So no number one for her, Barty will remain at the top for the women's side.

Medvedev? yeah tough match, he lost to the dangerous Bautista Agut 6-4, 6-2.

Osaka is my favourite womens player, really love her laid back persona but it
seems she is too laid back at times, to the point that she looks like she doesnt care.

Agut is dangerous alright, I wonder with Medvedev (my other favourite player)
despatched does this favour Rublev for the final and win?

Bit of an upset IMO, Hurkacz has beaten Tsitsipas in 3 sets, I just saw the last
set and Hurkacz looked cool, no sweat and looked in control, Tsitsipas looked
like he was playing for 8 hours, he struggled with the heat but didnt make efforts
to cool down during breaks.

Had anyone backed Hurkacz to win this?

Only doubt I have is for the match Medvedev vs Bautista augut; Medvedev is the favorite but I don't like to bet against Bautista Augut, this is a player that can always surprise.
Yes you're right, even Augut was able to beat Medvedev in straight sets 64 62. His consistent play was able to make it difficult for his opponents, even Djokovics admitted that “First of all, his style of play is just so consistent,” Djokovic said of Bautista Agut."

In the women's section, it is quite interesting to see if Bianca Andreescu can advance to the final, after long enough injury to my knowledge this is the best result she reaches.
