It is possible to still run the French Open, If the organisers take the Australian Open
and how they handled their competition as an example it would be possible.

At the AO players had to quarantine 2 weeks in advance in Australia and had very
strict practice rules, limited or no spectators and the competition was able to function.

Is this the official announcement of the French Open postponement?
''The French Open could be postponed because of a surge in coronavirus cases in France, the country's sports minister Roxana Maracineanu says.''
''"We are in discussion with [the French Tennis Federation] to see if we should change the date to coincide with a possible resumption of all sports and major events," Maracineanu told France Info radio.''

This is the first official confirmation from the French government that the postponement of this tournament is being seriously considered.
This announcement is likely to disappoint many tennis fans but we need to be realistic and aware of the seriousness of the situation with the Covid 19 epidemic in Europe.
Let's wait for the official decision of the French government and the organizers.

Its not likely to happen but its possible! Maybe like last year they move it a couple of months later . But i dont know why they should move it. If they all test on covid before entering they should be fine. But still laws in some countries are wierd due to the pandemic

The possibility of the French Open which will take place at the end of May being postponed is very high, as France returns to lockdown for the third time to reduce the spread of Covid19.
If this event is held in the same month as last year, players will face cold weather conditions.

Let's hope that by the time the French Open starts, the infection has been in controlled numbers. Otherwise, it will be the same for AO, it might get a push.
Well it is good for those injured players or at least in the recovery if the tournament will be push to at least two weeks. We just don't want to see the the whole tournament will be totally scrap from the tennis calendar as this is one of the GS.
I think that if the tournament was not canceled last year, then this year, for sure, it will not be canceled. Rafa Nadal should finally overtake Federer in the number of Grand Slam titles Grin Another question is that the tournament will not be held at the end of May, since there is such talk. I do not think that anyone will refuse to participate later because of the cold weather. All top tennis players are great professionals and the cold will be the last reason worth justifying.

You sure? Because according to this article, it was rescheduled last year:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_French_Open

Quote
The 2020 French Open was a Grand Slam tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was held at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France. Originally scheduled for 24 May to 7 June, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic it was first moved to 20 September to 4 October then later moved back a week further to 27 September to 11 October.

Maybe it was just for the semantics, cancelled, postponed, reschedule.

And with the current state of the covid-19 in France, maybe we will see another push of the original schedule of May this year.

It was good to see two young talent play off in the Miami Open final. It was a great match to see both battle it out but I still have my doubts on whether we can take much out of this tournament with the big names not playing. The real big test for these young players will be the grand slams which is why I'm not getting too excited right now as we have seen this in the past with young players that show a lot of talent but then fail to produce the goods against the big name players. Time will tell to see how they fair against them.

Prior to this tournament I predicted that either Tsitsipas, Rublev or Medvedev will win, but i was completely wrong.

So it was surprised, although we have seen a lot of surprises from prior tournaments. On thing to note in this tournament is that we have another rising star on the horizon, still a teenager but he is playing good tennis already. Sinner could be another future superstar of tennis is he remains consistent throughout his career, bit disappointed, but I'm sure he learn his lesson from this finals.

Incredible run from Hurkacz to win the title! On his way he beat Kudla, Shapovalov, Raonic, Tsitsipas, Rublev, Sinner. That's a pretty strong player pool in which, at least half of them could feature in any hard court grand slam semi final(on their day). Will be looking forward for his next matches. I was expecting Rublev or Tsitsipas to win the title but Hurkacz beat both of them. Very inpressive.

I agree, I thought Sinner can bag this one, but damn, Hurkacz was one tough mofo to beat, winning in straight sets.

And I agree that his run was impressive, he was really the giant killer in this tournament.

Like you, I'm looking for Stepanos to cement his status by winning this tournament, but he always fell short. Congrats to those who have bet on the underdog Hurkacz, good win and good returns.

Great tournament performance by both finalists who have beaten a lot of big name
players as mentioned.

Congrats to Hurkacz, he actually deserves that win, he is a pro now for 6 years with
only 2 titles before his win. He is now into the top 20.

I thought Sinner didnt have a great day, made a lot of errors and tried to rush
the points. His service game was off too. Congrats to him for getting to the final
and I really liked his play throughout the tournament.

Sinner lost and has been destroyed.

Maybe since his young age was too excited for his 1st ATP 1000 final, who knows.
If he was ending winning he was able to reach position 12 in the ranking at 19yo. Not bad at all.  Shocked

Australia's Ash Barty was in fine form winning the tournament in her first outing in the last year.  I'm just sorry I never put any money down on her matches (I'd remember to do so when I was at work or out but it'd slip my mind by the time I got home again).

It's really hard to see, but Sinner is now the favorite to win based on sportbookies @1.5x odds ML.
I am on Hurkacz once again to take at least one set. He already brought me so much money in Miami that I feel like I have to pick him once more. This time he is not such big outsider so the odds have less value but I am picking it for small bet anyway.

If only I was more brave and took Hurkacz to win in all those games but can't complain since win is a win Smiley
It was an impressive run for hurkacz his performance was brilliant and he eliminated rublev and tsitsipas the two most favorite ones he can pull it off but sinner is performing well too i think it will be a three set game.

I like the fact that potentially going forward the tournaments may be a little
more open rather than 3 players dominating, similar to the ladies game I suppose.

That's still a big question mark though, specially in Grand Slams. Probably ATP Masters 250-500 they have a chance, but with big tournaments wherein there's a lot of spotlight, some of they succumb to the limelight or just break down under the pressure of press.

For tomorrow, I dont mind either player winning, Hurkacz has been around since 2015,
he plays a simple style of tennis but does it well, nice for him to have another win but
I really like Sinner, He seems very focussed for a young man and ultra professional.

Hard to back either.

Has a new tennis star just appeared?
''Italian teenager Jannick Sinner reached his first ATP Masters 1000 final with a stunning victory at the Miami Open.''
''The 19-year-old world number 31 recovered from a break down in the final set to beat Spanish seventh seed Roberto Bautista Agut 5-7 6-4 6-4.''

It seems that this tennis tournament is full of surprises because in the second match the tennis player who was the favorite also lost.
Hubert Hurkacz beat Andrey Rublev 6-3 6-4.
Tennis is becoming more and more interesting to follow because there are no more sure winners.
