A video popped up some hours ago showing Zverev at a party in Monaco during the weekend and Kyrgios commented on that. I always thought Kyrgios was way dumber than Zverev, but I guess I was wrong Grin

Alexander Zverev attends a party while being in self-isolation, Nick Kyrgios responds

As much as we hate Nick Kyrgios, I think he got a point here. Again as I have said, it's turning into a shit show right now and we have seen videos popping up recently with tennis players, specially high rank, simply partying and disregarding the new norm and it really gives the bad impression that all tennis player specially outside of the court really don't know and ignoring what's going on around the globe.

@vella85 - yeah, there's always that hate in every sports, similar to Floyd Mayweather in boxing, there's a lot of boxing fans hating him for being too good and buying tickets to see him lose, but so far no one can take that "0" from him. Same as Brady, even at his age, he is still the gold standard QB and winning 6 Super Bowls.

Yeah its not a good look for tennis with what these players are doing. I think the problem is that once Governments started easing restrictions people just didn't worry anymore even players of many sports. I just don't know if we'll even see a grand slam played in the coming months as it seems its all getting out of control and with what's going on in the US, how can they have the US Open. I think we just need to wait and see and not get our hopes up as the situation is getting worse.

agree, i do not hate Kyrgios, although his behavior on the court was not the best, but his career could be better if it was not for that, so his mistakes, his life, his career

but in this case, with Zverev, he has right, because now we do not stand at point his mistake, his life, his career, because his behavior with disrespecting new norm is endangering other people, who maybe cannot spend on medication what he can, and could suffer much from corona, and that is why top players should be more responsible, Djokovic included

This really turns into a shit-show and its unfortunate that Djokovic is on the middle of this controversies. But I do agree that he needs to man up, and resigned. There's no amount of damage control that you can do here as everyone close is getting positive every day.

For me he doesn't really get the respect from the public because the way he conduct himself. And no matter how many records he broke and even became the most decorated and winningest player of all time, he will still be the bad guy.

i agree that she should step down as  a chairman, this was not intended, but unfortunately things are going in wrong direction, and he is to blame, as organiser

but, not agree that he is a bad guy, why do you say so? i agree that Nadal is a real sportsman, but for Federer could not say that he is better than Djokovic in any way (looking at their behavior on and out of the court)

"Bad guy" maybe I used a wrong term here, perhaps the right word should be "not respected" as much as Federer or Nadal, or simply put, they don't like him at all. And again, maybe may have played a big role on how they see or portray him. You can look at a lot of old articles, saying that he tried to emulate the strength of those two, or some replicate them, but he failed miserably. Of course, there was a time wherein he was really winning everything and no one can stop him. So Roger and Nadal fans really hate him for simply being too good.

I think that is what it is, Djokovic always winning and beating Nadal and Federer makes the fans hate him and yes he has taken it to the next level and surpassed Nadal and Federer and a lot of people don't like it. We see this in many sports like the NFL as a lot of fans don't like Brady because he keeps winning championships. Anyway I think this just makes Djokovic even stronger to win grand slams which is what he has been doing for the past few years when the fans started to go against him.

Not the smartest move of Zverev  Grin. Sadly, he is not the only one. It is typical human behaviour to break the rules...
I wouldn't call Kyrgios dumb. He is probably one the biggest talents but he needs to get his mindset right. He has done some stupid (but entertaining things  Tongue) in the past, but at this moment he has not drawn any controversy during this Corona period.

Andy Murray is back!
Murray, after not playing since November, played a tennis match with Dan Evans and lost 1-6 6-3 10-8.
''"I've just not been able to sustain a high level for long enough," he said.''
To reduce the risk of another injury, Murray plans to play only the Washington Open on 14 August before the US Open - which he won in 2012 - on 31 August
The tennis legend is back!
Of course, the question is how well he can still play.
Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/53207705

He has been in and out of his tennis comeback isn't it? I'm no hater of Andy Murray, but I don't think that he can regain his old form though. And because it looks like his injury is recurring, plus he is no longer that young anymore, I don't think that he can compete high level tennis again.

But it's good to see him playing and competing and giving his 100% every game. Psychologically, he still has, but his body is telling him different. Wish him well on Washington Open and let's see how it goes for him.

Do you remember when we talked about "big 4" tennis players maybe 7-8 years ago?
Murray was very good at that time, on the same level with Federer,  Nadal and Djokovic.
He won a couple of big tennis tournaments, a few GS and olimpic games.
Unfortunately,  so many injuries stopped his great tennis career.

Yes, he was always in the discussions and that era maybe one of the best we have seen with him and the rest of the big 4 really playing high level tennis. And perhaps those days really contributed to his downfall and eventual injuries. Of course, every tennis players like the big 3 has it's fair share of injuries, currently we have Federer.

But then Djokovic shows how's someone can come back from one of the worst injuries and come back strong and win tournaments. However, it was not the case on Andy though, we have seen him make a comeback last year unsuccessfully.

Good to hear that Murray is back, but will he ever reach his old level? I am very doubtful, but we can only hope for the best!
I loved watching Murray as he never gives up and has a nice personality.

For me he doesn't really get the respect from the public because the way he conduct himself. And no matter how many records he broke and even became the most decorated and winningest player of all time, he will still be the bad guy.

He won't get the respect he deserves because of:

1. it used to be Federer vs Nadal, and when he enters the picture, he disrupt the competition between the two and been always that way.

2. if you will watch match between Federer and him or Nadal, fans are rooting for either Federer and Nadal. Indication that fans doesn't love him when he is up against two and even he won the match, still the appreciation goes to both Federer and Nadal.

3. His attitude inside and most importantly outside the court. Just like we have seen in his own organised tennis event that resulted in a complete disaster.

Well we couldn't always have the same two players fighting for the grand slams. I was happy when Djokovic started to beat these two guys and challenge them for grand slams as it needs to change but I guess a lot of tennis fans didn't want this and maybe they see Djokovic as the bad guy because he come between Federer and Nadal. I think his attitude is fine on and off court, he has done a lot of good things off court just like Federer and Nadal. Like I said he can come across arrogant on court but we could say the same for Nadal at times.

I agree, Djokovic can't really please every tennis fans out there, unfortunately, he came to the scene when Federer and Nadal where really going at each other. Although there are a lot of challenges in between the race for number 1, Djokovic was the only one who really remain seeing a Federer vs Nadal finals which the fans wanted to see. We could only have different opinions about him inside and outside the court, but it seems majority interpret him as an arrogant and brandish player.

A new case of coronavirus in professional tennis!
''MATEJ ŠABANOV from Croatia and Tomislav Brkić from BiH were infected with coronavirus at a tournament organized by Janko Tipsarević in Belgrade, Serbia''
Wasn't the Adria tour enough?
When will these guys finally realize that the coronavirus is a real and serious threat?
I just can’t believe this is happening again.
The Eastern European Championship tournament took place there, Eastern European Championship.

I get the feeling that they want to bring Djokovic down as he is very close to becoming the most grand slam title wins. I do think that this will take a lot out of Djokovic as everyone is jumping on the bandwagon right now. The mental stress this will cause him will take a toll on his playing career I think and we just need to wait and see if he can over come it.
He made a mistake and for everyone to blame him and bring him down is ridiculous, they could have had better precautions but everyone who participated are adults and they should have known better about the pandemic situation rather than thinking that the virus would skip them,  Djokovic is a real fighter and he will just block out all the negative comments and he will come out on top, just block the social media and he is not going to hear anything else from anyone and that is the best option.

People simple don't like him and it seems Djokovic will never be respected as Federer or Nadal.
Not sure what you are talking about, people who follow tennis likes him, i am a huge fan of all three players and was a bit disappointed when Djokovic was out of form in the past for a period of time may be because of injury and personally i always think that i was lucky to watch three of the greatest players of all time Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic playing in one era and battling each other in every major tournaments.

Yes Djokovic is a fighter as we have seen in his matches over the years when he had the crowd against him he always rose above it and won more times then not so I do think he will rise above this but it must be hard with everyone attacking him from all angles. I never understood why he doesn't get the same respect as Federer and Nadal, maybe because he can be cocky at times on the court but I always thought that Nadal came across a little cocky as well so maybe I'm missing something.

Djokovic is very difficult character and don't listen others.
He also believe in alternative medicine, followed spiritual "guru " in the past etc.
Because he didn't listen others,  specially medical experts,  this disaster with Adria tournament happened.
He probably didn't believe that coronavirus is dangerous for him or any other tennis player there.
Many tennis fans don't like him because he came in the era of Federer and Nadal and prevented them to win much more tennis tournaments and became the GOAT.

And that is really bad that his 'believed' have been put into the spotlight with all the alternatives belief he has and his anti-vaccine stance. And with the disaster in Adria tournament in which he is the main contact, it again put into the lens not just in tennis but with other sports because in so far, this is the worst disaster during this pandemic and imagine it happen in a non contact sports like tennis.

Federer and Nadal had their own rivalry but it is more of a friendly competition. But with Djokovic is quite different that's why he didn't have the respect as much as they respect Roger and Rafa, in my opinion.
