Osaka is out already, Bencic has a nice game, so Naomi really had a bad year I guess.

Unfortunately, Zeverev and Rublev are also gone, beaten by Schwartzman and Berettini respectively.  So the men side as well is open, with Nadal, Medvedev and Federer still in the hunt.

Interesting match to watch Medvedev vs Wawrinka.

Sad to see that Djokovic could not continue after losing first two sets. He retired which means officially Djokovic is out from US Open. Now the platform is wide open for Medvedev.

I do not see much competition for Medvedev to reach to Semi and to face Federer. If he somehow can beat Federer then Nadal will be his next challenge to have his first US Open title.

There are still a lot to unfold in this US Open.

I think that this grand slam can be last chance for Federer because obviously he has the ''Djokovic complex''.
Now, without him, it's his big chance to win the grand slam tournament after very long time and I'm sure he will do his best.
Medvedev and Nadal are his most dangerous competitors now.

As you already saying now all set for Medvedev I am also feeling now this all platform is set for him as Djokovic is out of tournament and no one can stop him until final but still some upsets can happen as we have in women's two top orders out of tournament and now this is wide open for some good and talented players.

Another forgotten player that is going under the radar in this tournament and that is Zverev who has been playing great so far however he hasn't really played anyone that can challenge him so we shall see how well he does once he plays against some good opposition. I'm looking forward to the Rublev and Kyrgios match up in an hour from now, it should be a close match as both players have been in top form so far.

It's Rublev who won against Krygios, it was a great match as Nick tries to survives with 30 aces but there's no denying is Rublev is getting tough and playing high level tennis. He will facing Berrettini next, another superb match for sure.

Zverev over Aljaz Bedene 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 6-3, 7-6(3). Nadal is next for him. And yeah, he is under our radar but he keeps on improving and I think he has reach round of 16 of the last 3 out of 4 grandslam.

Yeah Krygios was playing good but then his mind set changed and started saying that he doesn't want to be here and that his eyes were sore from playing call of duty lol. I must say that Krygios is good for the entertainment when watching him but I do wish that one day he can keep calm and maybe win a Grand Slam as he has all the talent in the world to be a top player.

Zverev will actually play Diego Schwartzman so he can make the quarter finals and could be a big danger to Nadal, Federer and Djokovic. Alex de Minaur
was simply outclassed by Dimitrov losing in straight sets. Now we will start to see which young talent can make it through to the finals.

Yeah, not good for Kyrgios. I did not watch the match but looking at scoreboard it's clear that both player did not lose any of their service in the first two sets. Losing in tie breaker is always frustrating. And since it happened twice with Kyrgios, I think he was broken inside for this and the result was not doing much (only lost one service) in the 3rd set.

Anyway, Federer vs Goffin is under way. The next match I will be following is: Koepfer vs Medvedev

Yes we could see one of these players beat the big three and we can add another young talent to this list, Alex de Minaur who just had a big win over Nishikori. Alex de Minaur had an amazing US Open last year and it looks like he is going to go far again this year and could be a real danger to the big three. Lets see how Djokovic goes in under an hour from now with he's shoulder and Medvedev is also playing so we got two great matches to look forward to.
I think this was the upset of the day. I was following the match and I was actually siding for Nishikori. But he was not up to the mark in the first two sets. In the third set he was looking good and won it but in the fourth set he lost it again. I was hoping him to come back after winning the 3rd set.

I think I got my 4 Quarter finalist:
De Minaur vs Federer
and
Medvedev vs Djokovic

I think Djokovic will give the real test against Medvedev in the first Quarter final. I do not have much idea about his injury but without having 100% fit, it's hard to win against Medvedev. This boy is amazing.

Right, de Minaur is also one player who is on my radar as well.

Federer vs Goffin - Federer
de Minaur vs Dimitrov - De Minaur
Medvedev vs Koepfer - Medvedev
Djokovic vs Wawrinka  - Djokovic

I still remember Wawrinka playing his best when he faces top seeded opponents before like Djokovic. So I'm sure he will give his best against Djokovic here.

@Naida_BR - he has a lot of fans, it's just the big 3 is really dominating when he came to the scene, sure he had a lot of good head to head world class match specially against Federer and Djokovic. But due to injuries he is somewhat lost amongst tennis fans but if he can upset Djokovic here, no doubt that he can renew his career and tennis fans as well.

Looks like everyone's hype with the Medvedev vs. Djokovic but let's not sleep on another less known multiple Grand Slam winner and former US Open Champ Stan Wawrinka who is going to face Novak in the fourth round. The guy is still playing well and could defeat a less than 100% Djokovic.

Wawrinka is a top class player and I wonder why he doesn't have much fans.
I really love to see him playing Tennis. He has some incredible backhand shots and he is always a thread for the top 3 players. It would be a Great match between him and Djokovic.

Yes, who wouldn't forget about Stan Wawrinka, although injury took its toll on his body, but it seems he has recover some old form of his so it's going to be good to see him goes after Novak in round of 16 tomorrow.

In recent interview, Stan says that he is happy on how he play on this years US Open, an indication that he is really confident and I'm not surprised if he gets an upset here because Novak in not 100%.

Stan is a special kind of player, one who plays better tennis as the tournament progresses. He will often lose or play badly in the first rounds and than give his best if he survives till the end of the tournament. He could very well beat Djokovic, especially if Djoko isn't 100%. I didn't see his match yesterday or his press so don't know the state of the left shoulder.

I watched Medvedev closely yesterday and he is really good. The boy has the potential and patience to rule the Tennis kingdom if he keep up with it. Dellien did not play that bad but Medvedev was better than him. At some point (quarter finals) Medvedev is going to face Djokovic. This will be interesting to watch.

We told you mate,  Grin Medvedev is really playing good tennis right now specially in the last two months or so and has the potential to challenge the big three. It will be a interesting to see him facing Djokovic and could pull a upset here because Djokovic is not 100% in this tournament.

Federer in three sets over Evans. Djokovic will be facing Denis Kudla in about three hours.

@vella85 - yup, womens side has its own upsets, but Osaka looks strong but Barty is still up to the challenge.
Right now outside top three we have three another young players and they have potential to go through and upset any one in top three but its depend on how they play because all big three have patience and experience and these three need some time specially Kyrgios he is good but have some other problems and Medvedev and Roblev doing extra ordinary right now.

Djokovic is always carrying an injury or two, I don’t think it’ll harm him too much. He’ll fix himself up, he always does.
I still think an 80-90% fit Djokovic is the best player in the world.

In the other matches Kyrgios and Monfils got straight wins against their opponents.

By the way, Nadal got walkover.

Djokovic has a problem with his left shoulder. Just a note to be extra careful when betting on him in the next few matches. He was close to forfeiting the match several times. I am thinking on playing on his opponent and hoping for forfeit. There is a couple of bitcoin booking sites which count forfeit after one set is finished as regular math score. I have lost money on that rule several times now I hope to turn the table on them   Wink

Wasn't aware the Djokovic is nursing his shoulder in this US Open, big factor not to risk money on him. And if ever he got thru the next round, I'm sure it will got worse. Medvedev get past Dellien in four sets.

Did anyone notice upsets on the women's side as well?

Djokovic indeed was nursing an injury’s but he received on field treatment for it, which helped him survive the match. @Trofo I don’t expect Djokovic to quit the match he’ll keep taking treatments, and keep the match on so be careful if you choose to bet on the forfeit option. It’s important to note that he has a day to recover, plus he’ll get on field treatments so I would not bet either on him or against him.
