There was an upset today as Roger Federer lost to Rublev 6-3, 6-4. He beat Stan Wawrinka rin the previous run, so it looks like we have a giant killer in this tournament. Although he was really doing good tennis in the last two years but a injury (lower back stress fracture) forced him to miss and sideline early 2019.

Medvedev won against Struff, Djokovic match in two hours against Pablo Carreño Busta.

Yeah this was a big upset with Federer losing in straight sets, Rublev did it with ease which was not expected playing one of the greatest players of all time.

I'm watching the Djokovic match right now and he is getting pushed hard by Carreno Busta early in the match, I don't want to say that another upset is on the cards but Carreno Busta is playing some good tennis right now. Lets hope he can push Djokovic and we see a three set match.

In recent few months we have some good and talented players from Russia and Robley is also one off from them I watch his few matches and he plays very good hopefully he could be more good and aggressive in next tournaments and can do upsets like this Medvedev is also doing very good in recent matches but lost badly against Nadal in final.

I am watching Medvedev on this road to US Open tournaments. He is playing incredible tennis and is best from the rest at the moment. Djoko, Nadal & Federer are in league apart but I believe he can beat all other players in his way up the ATP table and plan to bet on him whenever the odds show some value.

~ snip ~

Querrey played well in the first set and was putting up a fight against Djokovic but he couldn't sustain it as Djokovic won the second set 6-1. I'm interested to see how Federer goes as his match is about to start soon so I'll be watching that, I'm expecting Federer to win in straight sets but hopefully Londero can make a match out of it.

As expected, Sam Querrey did his best against Djokovic but he was unable to to sustain it in the second as he was destroyed in the second set by a score of 6-1. Last time this two faces each other, it was Sam who won and shock everyone in Wimbledon 3 years ago but it was not going to happened today.

Federer steam rolled Londero 6-3 6-4. Good indication that Federer is looking strong as he was tested here by came up on top.

And with that lost to Gasquest, Andy Murray says that he won't be playing singles at this year's US Open.

Quote
He had been offered a wildcard by the United States Tennis Association, but Murray said: "We were hoping to hold a wildcard until nearer the time and see how it feels.

"But the US Open were announcing their wildcards today and I didn't feel I was able to make that decision before today's match.

Perhaps he was just happy to to play again in singles but doesn't want to push his body again after getting back from his injury.

Djokovic vs Querrey next in center court, I'm expecting Sam to give his best against Djokovic, but in the end I'm seeing Novak winning in three setter here.

Andy Murray returns to the tennis courts after a 7-month break due to injury, at the Cincinnati Tournament.
Great news for all tennis fans.

It is interesting to see Andy Murray back in the game but i have to see how he performs after a long break from injury in the singles tournament and that is the case with Richard Gasquet as both underwent surgery this year, i am counting on Andy Murray's doubles performance and i am betting for him to win the match here, it might go 3 sets as their recent encounter ended in three rounds.

Yeah Richard Gasquet was no joke and beating him was always going to be a tall order especially after a hip resurfacing surgery.

But watching that game was a nervous thing for me because I thought Andy would burst into tears again as his loss to Richard seemed inevitable. But thankfully that didn't happen. He'll probably win some big matches soon.

That's great! However, he still cannot play his 100% and needs to shrug off the rust after that 7month break. I like to see him on top form again.

He has been playing tennis doubles and even won a tournament after his long lay off so definitely he already shrug some cobwebs here. But don't expect something big though, for me it's more of a mental battle for him to really come back and won big in a singles title tournament.

Of course as tennis fans, we love to see him regain form, but we need to wait though. When Djokovic come back from his injuries in 2018, it was not very easy for him. Until he won tournaments and that confidence started to come back. So lets hope that Andy will slowly regain his form with his second comeback.

And of course, Kyrgios is out in the first round of the next tournament. Kyle Edmund was good enough to win in two easy sets. Should have placed a bet on this one since I had a feeling Kyrgios celebrated after winning Washington and this match was quite soon after that final.

It seems nobody is watching early rounds at Montreal or at least writing about it? I usually like to bet in early rounds since it is easier to predict some upsets with good odds, but this time I didn't even had time to browse trough offer.

Kyrgios defeat is surprising as I was expecting his victory at Washington to inspire him to win more titles, it’s about time he get serious about how he plays his game. The fight with the umpire regarding the lack of towels was unnecessary, and on the other hand Edmund kept his cool and won the match. Earlier rounds can get tricky at times especially in matches like this, you never know when Kyrgios is in mood and when he isn’t.

This could be one of the worst winners so far this year. After raising the trophy he went and crush out in the next tournament. Haven't heard this from men's side though. Womens? it happen a lot as far as I know.

The only consistent with Nick is being inconsistent. If he could just muster a few moments in his tennis career to just focus and concentrate about playing good tennis, he could be in the top four right now. It is really sad to see a player with the talent just wasting his time playing the sports in which many individuals wanted to be in his position.
If he didn't change for good he is wasting time and opportunity, while he is in his prime age, because being tennis player age is a factor while you become older your opportunity to become champion will because slimmer, and until now he don't have grand slam on his name.

Really great news, let's hope he is finished with his hip problems and can continue to play tennis on high level. He actually played some tennis in past months (double matches) and probably trained quite a lot so I guess more correctly would be to say "Andy Murray returns on ATP singles tournament in Cinci"  Wink

Now when we are on injury subject I have to mention Del Potro, who is one of my favorite players and constantly plagued by wrist injuries. Hopefully, he will get back on tour as well.

Yes, I also like Del Potro.
Great player, with many great matches in his career.
I will never forget his match in Zagreb, in the Davis Cup final, when he helped his national team to win.
It will be great also to see him back, like Murray.

Correct, when he lost interest, for sure it doesn't matter who is the man facing him, he will suddenly suddenly slip another worst performance. And as a tennis gambler, really hard to bet on him, never get the chance to have money because of his inconsistency. If you won betting on him on the last tournament then good for you. But the fact that he is very inconsistent? You need to be very very lucky to win big money specially if he is the underdog.

I don't really know when we are going to see him putting it all together though, doubt it will happen.

Kyrgios is one player I would never bet on unless we start to see him playing more consistent tennis. I bet that he has cost a lot of people a lot of money over the years because he is too inconsistent. Like we have seen, every time he has a good tournament and wins, the next tournament he doesn't seem to care and loses matches. We are just waiting for that day my friend but like you I doubt that it will ever happen.

I think I have bet on him on several occasions to be honest, but damn, lost everything on him. Not that big amount though, but I have learn my lessons already. So if ever he won, I don't regret not putting money on him because I know sooner or later he will go back to the same mentality which we witnessed recently.

Osaka vs Serena in Toronto, rematch of their 2018 US Open (controversial) - Williams got her first win against Naomi, looks like Osaka has really a bad year.

No surprise for me as like I said, he always does this after winning a tournament, just go back and see how he has performed after winning a tournament. This is why no one can rely on him because he is too inconsistent, I'm still hoping for that day when he is able to put it all together but until that day comes I can't take him seriously.

Those two tournaments was very close on the calendar.
It was normal that Kyrgios would be tired and not perform as he did at Washington.
Also, he is quite arrogant so he might think that he is the best in the game and he will win it easy, so he psychologically lost that.
