roger federer will still dominate every tennis tournament. he is the best tennis athlete.
Yeah man, Roger is a diamond in tennis and there are many others but the place of Roger federer is unique. Currently he won a tennis tournament and grabbed his 98th title near to century. He is the first Swiss tennis player who won the current title STUTTGART OPEN.

He won it from a Canadian opponent after a good match. In my eyes Nadal and other players can not reach at the place of Roger federer, I am not talking about the ranking but the sight of people.

Nadal will reach beyond , mark my words . If Nadal continues to play till 36 he is gonna win more and be more notable than he is now . Simple reason , he is the most humble , best sportsman in Tennis .
Federer did well to grab up the win against Paire , I guess today it will be easy for him against Ebden.

Đoković is back in Queens after 8 years. In his first match, he dominated John Milman and won easily 6:2 6:1. He showed pure dominance and reminded us at old days.
Maybe grass season is his time of the year Smiley

His next opponent is Dimitrov. Bookmakers made Novak favourite in that one.

Its going to be an interesting 6 months to the tennis season to see who will finish the year number #1. Federer has reclaimed the number 1 ranking and will most likely hold it until the hard court tournaments start as Nadal will then have a chance to get it back. Federer looks in super form heading into Wimbledon and right now I can't see him losing.

Good observation. Federer is in good form. But when Nadal comes back after healing his body, I'm sure he will be back with his old self so its going to be a interesting battle to see who's going to be on top at the end of the year. I hope that there will be no spoilers though hehehe as the young guns keeps knocking on the door but I wouldn't mind if Rafa or Roger remains the no. 1 at the end of the year though, just interesting how will that 2 take that route going on top. Will they face each other again and prove who's the worthy to be called the true #1?

Now wouldn't that be a great showdown to see Federer and Nadal face off in the US grand slam to see which player would be number #1. If there is going to be some upsets it would likely come from Dominic Thiem or Alexander Zverev as these two have been in fine form so far this season and can cause some upsets.

The thing is , they are always in fine form but they don't as per expected in grand slams . Zverev struggles a lot in grand slams and Thiem is not as dangerous on hard courts as he is in clay . Yes, it would be great to see the greats face off for the top spot.

Roger Federer just won today his 98th title in Stuttgart (on grass). By reaching the final, he became again nr 1 of the world  Grin!

And just like that, he is on top again. As far as Nadal skipping grass, it makes sense though and as @vennali, it proves to be effective on Federer skipping clay and comes back to play grass with more energy and confidence that's why he is back on number 1 again. And this sort of sabbatical will give the needed rest for this 2 veterans so that at least we can still watch them play in the next coming years.

Grass season starts and there is news that world no. 1 Rafael Nadal might end up skipping the grass season altogether and taking the hint from Federer's book. Nadal is the weakest on grass(still great if you ask me) and would take rest during the grass season and get back to tennis for the Hard court season. I think its a good decision as with age comes fatigues and to stay fit for the long and grueling season, its hard to keep up the level of fitness and play style. Still just a buzz though, who knows? He might just play. I'd be happy if he did that Smiley

Yes there is talk about this and I don;t mind seeing this as it has proved to work well for Federer. Speaking of Federer he is back training ready for Wimbledon which I think he can win again. Its amazing that these 2 great players are still playing at the elite level that they have been playing for and I hope they both can go on for a couple more years. Wimbledon is the one grand slam I look forward to each year as it is the best tournament on the tennis calendar.

World number one Rafael Nadal of Spain won the final of the French Open on Friday with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Argentine Juan Martin del Potro.

The Spaniard will have the opportunity to boost his record in Roland Garros to reach the 11th title when he meets Austrian Sunday's Dominique Teem, ranked seventh, who surpassed the first semi-final surprise Italian championship Marco Chichenato .
Happy to hear about tennis final, Rafael Nadal is the champion and is returned now, was the opponent of Roger Federer and had seen competitive matches between these two. Now if Roger and Murray were here in this French open then it would be very difficult then and Nadal would have a tough time because if we bring Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Nadal then it is difficult to predict.

He has done it again, Nadal wins his 11th French Open title! This is simple amazing that a player like this can always perform at the highest level and still win grand slam titles at his age. Thiem was simply no match for Nadal even though I thought he played some good tennis at certain  stages of the match but his Win % on 1st serve let him down at 68% compared to Nadal at 82%. I was so close to winning my bet on Thiem as I went for some value but it wasn't to be. Congrats to Nadal on another French Open title, he deserves it.
yeah he is a legend now in Rolland Garros it will be interesting to see if he get one or two more French opens now he is in good spot to finish with 12 at least also Nadal will celebrate his 177th week maintaining the top spot after winning Roland Garros.Djokovic Record is going to be not that hard to break as his next target to overtake him will be the 223 weeks.
So how many weeks do you think he'll end his career with and will he manage to overtake Djokovic personally i think the chances are good to hang on the next 52 weeks. Little points to defend at start of 2019.
Around 200, defending US Open will be the thoughest.

Wow has it really been that long at number 1? I knew it was 2 years at least but time flies a lot faster than I've been keeping track on. Another 46 weeks won't be that difficult (crazy talk in a normal world but we're dealing with deities of tennis here). I'm sure that's also his target in mind so it won't be a bad strategy to keep punting on him until that target's met, just that the odds will all be slim. Also lost my Thiem bet, albeit a really small one as just over @4 wasn't that much of an incentive. I was hoping for a bit more stiff competition though, seems like Nadal's just impossible to steal sets from.

In the end it was a quite easy win for Nadal against Thiem; Nadal is a true legend for winning 11 French Opens. Don't forget Federer for the nr 1 spot, although Federer needs to defend a lot of points in Wimbledom.

I'm very happy to see Halep win the French Open as she has been the inform Women's player so far this year and really deserved this win after the Australian Open where she had it tough through the whole tournament so this win makes up for that.

Del Potro was no match for Nadal winning easily in straight sets and now goes on for a chance to win his 11th French Open title. As I put money on Thiem before the tournament I'm really hoping that he can get the job done against Nadal but it will be a tough battle but I do think that Thiem can beat Nadal as he has been in top form so far this year. This is going to be a great Men's final.

Halep in did deserve this win (not saying that Stephens don't deserve it) and it's her first ever grand slam. She was beast in this open hoping she could take more of it.

It is indeed that Nadal outmatched Del Potro in there last game, all of the odds are in favor of Nadal this one. Let's see how will Thiem play against Nadal, I also bet on him (rather than Nadal, who is overrated Haha), Thiem did improve this year became somehow much more consistent and starting to have powerful shots. On the other hand, Nadal is the king of clay which is I'm concerned about, Nadal does play a lot better in Clay and not to mention he really is a much better player than Thiem. Still hoping that Thiem steals this one.

Congrats Simona! To come back and win it like that, 2 -0 down in the second set after losing the 1st set. I imagine there will be a lot of partying in Bucharest. She is finally a grand slam champion after losing three finals. Wimbledon is going to be very interesting with Serena back and it is anyones tournament.

Nice win indeed of Halep, it was not looking good for her, but she managed to fight back and win her first grand slam.
I don't think Serena will already be in topform for Wimbledom but she is definitely a candidate for the title.
