Australian Open will have a monster prize pool in 2017: $50 million   + 14% compared to 2016.

Prize pool:

  50.000$  for the first round
  80.000$  for the second round
130.000$  for the third round
220.000$  for the fourth round
410.000$  for the quarter-finals
820.000$  for the semi-finals
1.850.000$ for the finalist.
3.700.000$ for the Winner!
This is why tennis players rich, because they get a big reward for every tournament thats they played
if we want compared with another sport example Badminton sport, the first round reward on Australia Open is for the Badminton Champion tournamnet  Grin

It is true that Tennis players make good money but I read a report a couple of months back stating that only top 80-90 players in the world make enough to participate in every tourney+ flight + decent hotels and the rest of them have to dip into their personal savings or investors. We only look at the best tourneys in the world and of course they r well paid because only the top players in the world participate in them. Its not just in Tennis but all sports or any other profession that this happens.
That prize money they earned is just one part, their actual earning probably even more. Once a professional tennis player turning to a famous star, brand company will offer them a endorsements contract, that's the real deal. For example, Federer and Nadal in Nike, Djokovic in Uniqlo and Andy Murray with Under Armour. I checked on the internet, Djokovic earn $31 million a year in Endorsements. The amount of money is just ridiculous, more easier than fighting for the prize money.
YEs but that's just handful people that get endorsed but the person who commented  before you was talking about how the rest of the pack dont get paid enough or well to pursue their passion.

Read something  interesting that on ladt two tournaments there wasn't doping test for players and that this will be major issues for Australian open  with this they will be testers  two times before and after match. Dunno if this is true or not but seem troubling

There's nothing troubling or wrong with that. Generally, it used to be surprise testing of random players but making the testing mandatory for a player seems to be a good move. This way we know for sure that a player isnt cheating and is a clear winner. I hope this is true.

Cant wait for the new year and good and big tourneys to start again. Cant wait for the hopman cup. It is very entertaining and nice to see countries participating in this fun event.
One of the interesting thing in this Hopman Cup is Roger Federer have confirmed he will play in this tournament, he will be leading the Switzerland team, this few months he have rested a lot, should be recovery really well. This is Swiss team have better chance to take this trophy. Australia will try to defend their title, but I think this time will be more challenging for them.
