Australia is currently bowling and England is actually doing well so far. They have scored 41 in 8 overs. That is a good confident start from England after losing the toss. Let’s see if England can actually win this test match. I personally think that Australia might actually take this test match as well and win the ashes series.
Can England win this test at the Oval and save the Ashes? Of course, they can't win the Ashes, but leveling the series 2-2 is their ultimate target before going into this test match. We also know that England was unlucky in the last test match as the rain ruin their chances of winning the match.
However, England needs to win this one. They are batting at 138-3, which is good for them but they can't lose quick wickets today else the Australians will feel themselves on the upper hand. Ben Duckett was scoring run a ball and was looking good but he got out at 41. Zak Crawley also made only 22 and Joe Root 5 runs only. I see a collapse soon
England was bowled out by Australia for only 283. Not so much consistency from the England team, except from the top order. Brook did play well in the middle order. And towards the end Chris Woakes and Mark Wood did get some quick runs. But eventually England was all out. I don’t think this score is good enough. Australia is Baten right now and they have scored 57/1. The England bowlers has been economical. But they have to pick up quick wickets. They cannot let Australia get a good lead in the first innings. The first task for the English boilers should be to remove Usman Khawaja from the middle.
At this moment you can't predict anything with this English team.
One might look at the scorecard and say they are 7 down, tail is exposed and not enough runs on the board but at the same time, this team is becoming unpredictable. I won't be surprised if they even touch the 300 mark or surpass it.
Well England did not pass 300. But they got close to it. But it ended the innings on 283. I genuinely do not think that was a good enough total. If England cannot get Australia all out cheaply, Australia is going to get a good lead and that is not going to be good for England. Australia is still trailing by 222. The problem is this is still the first day of the test match, and Australia still has nine wickets in hand.
