You should blame complacency. New Zealand has performed poorly in the past while visiting India. But this time, their bowlers really troubled the Indian batsmen. Mitchell Santner was magnificent during the second test, taking 7 wickets for just 53 runs. The fact that Ajax Patel failed to find his line and length was not even noticed, as Santner and Phillips filled the vacuum. And in the first test, it was the turn of the pacers. Matt Henry and William O’Rourke simply ran through the Indian batting order in the first match.

We never imagined that India would play like this against New Zealand at their own venue. Satner's delivery meant a disaster for the Indian batsmen, picking up 7 wickets and stopping the Indian score at 156 runs. Will India be able to complete the lead of 301 runs given by New Zealand on the second day . This revenge match has created a possibility of defeat for India instead of revenge. If New Zealand gives India a lead of 400 runs then the chances of India losing are high.

England lost their first innings by a huge margin against New Zealand in the second Test match but the result is now very much in New Zealand's favour. In the first innings against New Zealand, India were all out for just 156 runs. Whereas New Zealand has so far collected 158 runs for 5 wickets in the second innings. So far, the New Zealand team is 301 runs ahead of India in two innings. Since they still have 5 wickets in hand, if New Zealand can accumulate 150+ runs on the scoreboard next day, then the target for India will be 450+ plus runs and it will be very difficult to win against a team like New Zealand with 450+ runs.

Since India is playing this series at home, India should have performed better and come into the second test correcting the mistakes they made in the first test but they are making the same mistakes in the second test.

Yes no one imagined such a defeat for Indian team at their own venue although they lost the first match badly but the second match was a win for them. But in the current state of their game we can predict a lot that India might lose the match and lose the series. After New Zealand bowled India out for 156 runs, New Zealand's win is very likely as we have seen the New Zealand team's batting performance is good and they have already managed to give a lead of 301 runs. Accordingly we can assume that since they still have five wickets in hand, they might try to bat better and give a great lead. In that case, if India can't build a big lead, they will definitely lose the second Test match and lose the series.

India team had a very poor batting performance in their first innings, although we saw that the first match was won by New Zealand team, so this match is more important for India. There were plenty of Signs for everyone to see as far as the weakness against spin is concerned. It happened against Australia, twice when they toured us. Small glitch against England as well but our lower order was saving our ass with the bat every single time. Be it Jaddu (2 tons and more) Ash (2 tons and a couple of 50s) Axar (best batter against Australia)-Washi (a couple of match winning innings in just 1-2 matches).

The sad part is that the new guys like Jaiswal, Gill, Sarfraz and Pant are excellent players of spin and all of them are capable of working hard and playing long innings but for some reason, they looked different in this match. Call it overconfidence or complacent behaviour.

This is the first time Ash-Jaddu failed with the bat and ball in 2 consecutive tests and they are about to lose a series. That's why I keep saying, India will have a hard time replacing these 2 guys.

Pakistan playing like India at home (Spinners taking wickets and scoring runs), meanwhile India cosplayed as Pakistan. This wasn't on my bingo card when these 2 series started. Grin
