Reading cricbuzz feed, it says both team got 13 WTC points each. It was supposed to be 3 games  40*3 = 120 points series. Both team should have get 20 each. So what's the logic here, can some one explain? or is it because they didn't get to finish first 2 inning?

So, what did the teams gain from this game? Well, 13 WTC points and that's handy indeed.

Yes. As per the point system decided by the ICC for the World test championship, a win is awarded 40 points, while a draw is awarded 1/3rd of that many point (to each of the teams). The ICC made this decision, to discourage the test teams from preparing very flat tracks where a result may not be achieved even after 5 days of play (this has happened a lot in the sub-continent).

Have Fun )@@( Stay Safe
England team dint got chance to bat as well or say they dint had any practice of batting in this test match. Also, on last day till now it is raining and might just end without even a ball being bowled.
It looks like the rain god's have listened to your cries  Cheesy. I was wondering why England is batting when the match is done and dusted rather than taking rest and going back to their hotels and there is no way a result could be made but it is good time to improve the average of batsman as there is no pressure about a result Cheesy.
Hope we will be able to see the next match without any interruption and if there are signs of rain its better to go for a draw .

Since the venue is same does not look good for the prospects and England would have wanted to win the series by like 3-0 or so or atleast would have tried to do the whitewash if match would have happened without any rain interruption. Unfortunately, that is not the case and England may still win the series but by 1-0 assuming third one ends in draw.

If they end up winning the series 1-0, then it will put them in a disadvantage. They were expected to win the series 3-0 or at least 2-0 and could have scored anywhere between 80 and 120 points. The point system is designed in such a way that a win is awarded 40 points, but a draw is given only 13 points. England is clearly losing out here. For the second test, England received 13 points instead of 40 which they deserved.

I hope we get a full 5 days play in the last test match of the series.

I don't think so. Third match is scheduled to start from 21st August (this Friday) and the venue is the same (The Rose Bowl, Southampton). As per the weather prediction, widespread rains are expected for all the five days. I will be really surprised if the outcome is anything other than a draw. But please don't get disheartened. We have the T20I series starting from 28th.

Good to see the match is in progress and i hope the weathers stays like this all day. England have lost their first wicket and they were close to losing their 2nd wicket too but the review from Pakistan got rejected.  Also umpires need to review the light from time to time as it is looking little dark from the Tv screen.
I thought the weather would allow the match would continue and that never happened as the match was halted again and the weather is dominating the series than the players going to the field. I would really love to see what the Pakistan team could offer against this England team without any interference. Pakistan bowlers are not that talented like they used to have in the past but the current crop is creating issues for the England side and i would like to see how they would match up.

I am afarid you cannot see the pakistani bowlers in action because the rain is not looking to stop and this match will end up in a draw without further play. I hope we get a full 5 days play in the last test match of the series.

This test match it was only rains and less of cricket match. England started poorly and lost 1 wicket as well for 7 runs. The pitch is not looking to be a batting friendly and scoring runs at quick pace is not possible. So England just have to bat whatever overs happened today and tomorrow and get some practice before the next test match begins.

And still we have people who want to reduce the duration of the test matches to 4 days. These rain affected matches can have a severe impact on the points table for the ICC World Test Championship. Here England is getting robbed of points, which they otherwise could have won. Why can't we have a reserve day for the rain-affected matches?

It is raining and the umpires have taken the decision to suspend play. Also bad light seems to be an issue at Southampton. I am not sure whether play will be possible for the remainder of the day. England batsmen looked very vulnerable against the swing and seam of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Abbas. It is going to be tough for them.

This sort of weather suit the fast bowlers as the bowl swings more. However, since it started raining again, we have again no option but to wait and see. If there is no game possible today the umpire should announce the result of the match as a draw.

Pakistan may have good bowlers but remember England middle order is extremely strong and Pakistan bowlers were not able to get through them in the last test match. If the match starts, they still will have difficultly breaking through the England batting lineup.
England have good players but this is the second match in the series and the rain interruption is killing the fun, Pakistan scored 236 runs and they picked the first English wicket without a run scored and if they can pick up wickets like this in cold conditions then it will be interesting even though we might not see a result in this match.

Google predictions suggest a 90% draw chance which basically means that this match is over at this point. Pakistan were lucky to escape here while England will probably be cursing the weather currently.
If 2 days are lost and 2 more days left and it is impossible to see a result in the match, Pakistan still have a wicket left in their first innings and England need a day to reach that score if the weather allows and then a lead so that Pakistan can bat in the second innings and the match is a gone conclusion. Pakistan have some good bowlers and if there were no interruption who knows what the situation would be.

Both teams known for their batting collapse and looking at current scenario Pakistan already reached at respectable total. Pitch is still alive so who knows if its low total game, we might see result despite bad weather.

Two days gone and not even one innings completed till now. I would be really surprised, if this match doesn't end up as another boring draw. Weather predictions are also not looking that great. Heavy rains are predicted for the next three days and we can expect the same situation we had during the first two days. I don't expect more than 100-150 overs of play to happen in the remaining three days.
Your calculation is not wrong as weather forecast backing your statement but you are under estimating mighty modern day batsmen.. Pun intended  Grin

Well we have seen before in the past at how quickly runs can be scored and that even when there are rain delays that most matches are completed with a winner. The match could still go either way as Pakistan have the runs on the board and the question is does England want to win the match or play for the draw? We will find out once they bat to see if they play aggressively or play safe.

The chances of this match ending up in a draw is very high due to the weather. If by chance the match does proceed then the chance of England winning the 2nd test is pretty high.

English team needs points to get on top but rain messing up with him. BTW They don't need our best wishes, they are already riding lucky horse if we think about last 2 year cricket.

It was a frustrating day for the England team as they desperately want the match to resume so that they can win it. Another issue for them is that tomorrow weather forecast is not good either, infect it is more worse then today and i don't think any game is possible tomorrow. Both teams should now focus on the final test and hope it brings a result.

Just two days remain now and it is impossible to get a result unless both the teams agree to forfeit one innings each. This is going to be suicidal for Pakistan, since they don't have enough runs on board. So my guess is that they will settle for a draw, which will be beneficial for them in the ICC World Test Championship. And another issue is that rain is predicted for the remaining two days as well.

There is no such rule in the test match to forfeit the innings. I do not understand why people give such ideas which cannot be implemented in the match and are out of scope from the cricketing rules point of view. If both the innings could not be completed the match will be a draw and both teams will get equal points.
There is no such a rule but by mutual understanding many things can happen like this I am posting here this just for record because Pakistan is not going to take any chance like this right now https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/15756/scorecard/63864/south-africa-vs-england-5th-test-england-tour-of-south-africa-1999-00
