2nd test between England and Pakistan begins tomorrow. England will feel more confident after the comeback in the test match. Would like to want England to bat first and put on big score and then it becomes more interesting to watch the match. Hopefully the rain does not come in this test match as well and will be more to watch.
Its right now England is feeling more confident but Stokes Absense can hurt them as well because now his presense is very important for them and if England going to take first batting then surely I will bet for them because Pakistan in fourth inning more bad then in third so this could be surely big win for England but right now we have no comments about this all wait for watch for few more hours.

Ben Stokes - His father was hospitalized so he going back to New Zealand, where his family live. Zak Crawley might replace him as batter.
Dom Bess - Because he's spinner and didn't made any impact in the last game. Which i agree, Sam Curran should replace him as extra all rounder in lower order.
Anderson - "His retirement and dropping out of team" news comes out every time he fails to perform and he only took 1 wicket in the last game. That might have triggered all the gossips again. Although i want to see Anderson-Board combination again in next game tho..

England will be handicapped without Ben Stokes. He has rescued them so many times in tough situations. Zak Crawley is a promising player, and I hope that he will be able to perform against the Pakistani bowlers. Anderson's omission was a shock. As you have posted, the Anderson-Board combination is one of the most successful pace-bowling pairs in the history of test cricket.
For the Record Anderson's exclusion news is not confirmed but only speculation.

His critics might be looking at his WTC rank tally, he's not in even top 10, may be fitness is the main reason. He missed some games due to fitness.

PS: Damn! Ishant Sharma average is remarkable.

My feeling was English board will give chance to Anderson for reaching 600 magical figure but this Covid19 kill all dreams and now he is going to retire without this figure because already 38 and now not good in last few matches all things going against him new bowlers also doing good like Woakes Archer and Curran so better he announces his retirement and take some good rest from his good career.
Soon, he only need 10 wickets.

He bowled impressively and kept on applying the pressure, but was unfortunate not to get many wickets. Stuart Broad formed a deadly combination along with James Anderson, and it was the former who walked away with the wickets most of the time. But I really doubt whether Broad could have taken that many wickets, if some other bowler was at the other end. Feels bad for Jimmy, but then it is up to the ECB selectors.

In addition, the pot will be bigger this time. Honestly speaking the 1st place may walk away with $250 or more (not final yet, let me finish the deal with the sponsor first), so imagine how much we will be have in the pot.

Besides, we will have consolations prizes for round winners. So join the pool and fasten your seatbelt for a crazy ride. If you are still thinking to risk 0.001 BTC is too much then think twice because once the registration will be closed then you will have no chance to win the prize money :-D

A few days back, in an interview he explicitly stated that he has no plan to retire from test cricket anytime soon. His performance was not that great during the first test against Pakistan, but there is no point in singling him out for that. Jofra Archer, for example fared far worse. And ECB should not forget Anderson's performance against West Indies. Along with Broad, he was one of their spearheads.

1st test is done and dusted, Pakistan need to forget about the recent blunder and move on to the 2nd game. They might get some sort of breather to know that England is about to make 1 major and 2 possible changes in the playing XI.
Ben Stokes was injured and he played the first match as a batsman but he bowled a few overs and that might have worsen his injury, why is Dom Bess and James Anderson rested and who are the players replacing them, will they be replacing with a spinner or will ignore that. It is hard to understand the England selection process.

-Ben Stokes is not part of the squad for the remaining games due to personal issue. (official)
-Dom Bess is out as well, he's spinner so its fine.
-James Anderson might sit out as well, not official.

Dan Lawrence who was on reserve bench, supposed to be the possible replacement of Ben Stokes is out too, due to family bereavement. https://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/113756/dan-lawrence-exits-bio-secure-bubble-after-family-bereavement-pakistan-cricket-tour-of-england-2020

This is just ridiculous. England needs to stop disrespecting their legendary players. James Anderson bowled much better than Jofra Archer and I don't understand why the former is dropped while the latter is still in the team. I am OK with the other two changes. Stokes may be dealing with personal issues, while Bess wasn't that threatening during the first test.

Pakistan never ceases to disappoint me. I thought they would win the first test against the current English side pretty easily by a decent margin, but England rebounded spectacularly. Woakes and Buttler stole the match away from them.

My expectations from Pakistan have dropped even lower now. I am expecting England to easily win this series now. Pakistan are still lacking in many, many areas currently.

They are know for inconsistency but losing a match from a win win situation makes you realize there is more to inconsistency and that is called bad choice & decision. I was expecting nothing from them, I some how had the felling that they will throw away this test series like they have done in the past.

Also it seems that they are lacking some popular players in their squad and the team consists of young players. Lack of experience is also one major reason of not winning a match from a comfortable situation. If they had some experienced bowlers, they would have not let the match go away.
Top reason is lack of leadership as Azhar Ali completely fail to handle situation after taking good advantage in England's second inning he need to attack but he start as defense mode which give some good benefit to batting side and they avail this chance and win this match very easily now they have very little time for preparing as 13 August is date for start of second test lets see how they do this.

Pakistan dominated majority of the match but the lackluster second innings was the reason they lost the match but the bowlers tried their best and they were successful in picking the wickets but Buttler and Woakes started attacking because it was a small total to chase and they knew if they play a defensive innings they would loose their wicket. Pakistan has the bowlers to defeat England all they need to do is put a good total on the board so that the bowlers can do the rest.

Cricket is such an unpredictable game and you may not always win close encounters. But that said, Pakistan have a lot of positives to take away from the match. There was excellent batting from Shan Masood and Babar Azam. The bowlers were bowling their hearts out, especially Yasir Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Abbas. They lost the match, but no one can deny the fact that they went down fighting.

I think there is nothing to be disappointing at this moment. Pakistan dominated the match but lost by that partnership only. I understand that we can  improve on many areas but remember we have traveling to England and playing cricket after a long time whereas England has been playing with West Indies and Ireland. I am hopeful that Pakistan will become used to the conditions and will show a better performance in the next test matches.

So if Pakistan were able to broke the fifth wicket partnership early and won the match, then you would have been praising Pakistani team and your expectation would be high on them for the next matches ?

Pakistan is looking desperate to get a wicket but no luck till now. They have lost 2 reviews in quick time and now they have no more reviews left. Only 34 runs left for England to win. This match will finish in just 4 days of play.
Pakistan really like to create a thrilling finish for the fans Grin, Yasir Shah finally took the wicket of Jos Buttler but England just need 13 runs to win the match. If Pakistan could score another 50 runs more in the second innings it would have been interesting and England does have a long batting line up with Chris Woakes chipping in at the right moment and scoring a valuable match winning half century and i hope he gets the man of the match award for his all round performance.

They had enough run on the board to defend. Team Pakistan always depends on their bowler than their batsman. The last 2 wicket of Pakistan  added 30+ run which was bonus for them. I will say poor performance by the pakisthani bowler. It disappointing for the Pakistani fan they completely faliled in the second innings.

It was a great show by the England middle order batsmen and they turned the match around. If you see that England middle order batting is very strong and they have always helped England to get out of worse situation.  England is now on the way for another series win.
