It's too early to say India will lose the match and even if NZ manage 100-150+ runs, the target is still less and they would need to make about 350+ runs to win the match. It would definitely put pressure on the team but it's high time Virat performs for his team. Sharma has performed extremely well after being on rest compared to other bowlers so it was good to choose him over Yadav. With 3 full days left to play, a draw is not possible now.
Don't forget that rain may interrupt again and will get resulted into a draw. Wink

But I don't want that to happen. Smiley

India didn't played their best so far in this match if they didn't change their attitude for the remaining days then this is the match for Kiwis.

I am not expecting a lot from Indian bowlers as you said the wicket is now becoming batsmen friendly I think NZ will be able to score 100+ lead on the board. This match is slowly going out of India's hand.
Don't conclude too early,if pitch is going to be more friendly for batsmen when match progress then India is also going to get more runs. But what if 200+ lead then its going to be big task for India. It seems there is no capable part time bowler in Indian squad and only four regular bowlers making the bowlers more tired if they bowl for entire day.

What's wrong with the Indian Team. Before this match India have won all the 7 tests matches in the ICC World Test Championship and this might be their first loss.
The answer is quite simple. The team that won so many matches comprised of experienced players while the current team is an experimental mix-up of newbies and experienced players.

Well Bhai, this is practically the same Indian team as last year when they defeated Australia in their own backyard (except Prithvi). Batting first at this pitch was tough but i didn't expect India to get out under 200, Some poor cricket from Mayank, Rahane and Pant because these 3 batsmen did all the hard work but failed to convert their inning and got out on very average deliveries including 1 run out. Having said that I feel that Indian batsmen going to perform much better in the second inning because as game proceed its becoming batsmen friendly wicket.

Prithvi - Got out on good delivery but openers are supposed to play such delivery, its his 3rd test so we should give him some time IMO.
Pujara - He got out on good ball.
Kohli - Poor choice of shot from his side on average delivery, here all credit goes to kyle Jamieson. His set-up for kohli was beautiful to watch. Not worried about kohli's form though.

My only concern is Bumrah, he looking rusty after long break and he's going wicketless and taking 20 wickets is key if any team wants to win the Test match. I really hope he gets some wicket tomorrow as lead already crossed 50 runs  if kiwis managed to get 100+ lead then its no brainier that India is in big trouble.

New Zealand are already on a lead of 51 runs and have 5 wickets in hand. They undoubtedly have the better edge here.
They'd be looking for some quick runs on the 3rd day and may call India to bat after lunch. A 200+ lead would be quite enough to call back India to bat.
With Ross Taylor back to pavilion, and both the new batsmen on crease, India would be looking to get some early wicket on the fresh pitch to return to the game.

New Zealand is leading by 31 runs, Kane Williamson missed his century by 11 runs and Ross Taylor too lost his wicket after getting a good start, Ishant Sharma is the pick up bowler for India but the rest of the bowlers were disappointing and the fielding is sub par and if New Zealand is able to built a good first innings lead then India will be in trouble and the match could end in the fifth day.

What's wrong with the Indian Team. Before this match India have won all the 7 tests matches in the ICC World Test Championship and this might be their first loss. I do not think the match could be draw. NewZealand have more chance of win but they need to be carefully as not to give away the advantage they have by limiting India team to only 165 in their first innings.
NZ have still 5 wickets in hand and every run they score will make their position better in this test match.

Indian teams experiment is failing miserably. This new batch of newbies have failed to perform and the old boys have become over confident. They are struggling with their batting line-up. Newzealand on the others hand hsve come back strongly and after the big win in one day's they might win the test too.

I am tired hearing this excuse every time the Indian team is performance bad, they come up with the excuse that they are experimenting with new players. This is not professional way. You do the experiments with less experienced teams and not with the strong teams like NZ. Either bring back the old experienced players or accept the defeat.

Expected them to get atleast 165 but looks like the entire team is unprepared for the bowling attack and experience or no experience doesn't matter. To play this way in a WC game is ridiculous. NZ's captain have been playing brilliantly on the other hand and thanks to him the team got to a good score else the others were just bad as Indian batsmen. With bowlers left, doubt they could reach 300 but they must be aiming for it.

Looking at the Indian stats, not one player got 50. Rahane got out and all then Shami managed to end at 165.

Why not? If it starts raining again, a draw is completely possible. NZ posted a small lead and have 5 wickets(Mostly bowlers) which is why India still has a great chance of winning this one of they perform well during the 2nd innings.

NZ now lead by 51 runs and 5 wickets remaining and the 2nd day is completed. If India has to be in the game, they need to quickly pick up remaining wickets so that NZ does not post a big lead. India in second innings will have to manage to make atleast 400+ runs which will help them to put some pressure and remain in this game. Till now the game belong to NZ considering they still can add 100 runs in last 5 wickets and which will take 150 runs lead.

Leading by 51 runs with 5 wickets in hand at the end of second day's play. The would have been in an even better position, but the wicket of Ross Taylor changed the course of the match. If the Indian bowlers can limit the New Zealand lead to less than 100, then they will be having a chance in this match. Anyway, batting fourth can be very tricky at the Basin Reserve.

As expected the absence of Jadeja is showing up, both in the batting and bowling departments. Ashwin has failed to pick any wickets, but that was expected. He loses his venom in overseas conditions. The pitch looks very green, and it surprises me that Bumrah and Shami have gone wicketless till now. Ishant has picked all the three wickets and he has bowled in a well-disciplined manner.

Really unexpected show of batting display by Indians who just managed to get 165 runs in a test match. India have made much better score than this in T20 matches. Rahane was only batsman who showed sign to stay on the pitch and made 46 runs. NZ in reply have started very well and already lead by 22 runs and 6 wickets left. Williamson was out at 89 runs and played captain’s innings.

Bloody hell...... 132/7

Rishabh Run out and next ball Ashwin clean bowled.

Now golden opportunity for kiwis to beat India with innings.
Rahane is culprit for this all as this was his call and Pant sacrifices today I was thinking Pant is doing good he can stay for some long time which could be frustration for kiwis but suddenly all gone in just two balls now 200 is very difficult as tail enders cannot stay for long time.

It happens when you have some trust issue.  Grin Both acted like retarded couple.. Rahane running like a crazy person and not looking at his partner on the other hand Rishabh didn't even wanted to run. It was single anyway...... Now 144/8

Edit : 165 All out..

^^^ Don't know what happened to Virat Kohli. He used to be the only Indian batsmen who performs consistently abroad. I guess he is now finding it difficult to manage both captaincy and his own batting. Regarding Jadeja, I think that he could have added more variety to the bowling attack, in tandem with the off-spinner Ashwin.
As now IPL coming this is also big issue with Kohli his team never perform good in this event so he is also effect by this but still its long way to go now this Rain could be survivor or bring some more troubles for India now we have few hours as second day play is going to start hopefully something good will happen for them.

Oh dear what you done Pant run out and Ashwin first ball out bowled by Southee.
