Who will do this for South Africa as they done in past right now no batsman is capable to stay for some long time its really sad point for them they are going down by 1 - 3 in this series.
Elgar and de Kock has the capability but they are not really performing their best so they are not scoring such huge totals like in history.

But RSA should change their quota system to give opportunities for the real talents, their team looks really weak at the moment.

Only rain can save South Africa but weather is not that bad so most probably series result will be 1-3 in favor of England.

South Africa Board  require to think so much about why their big players moving to England through Kolpak deal and leaving South Africa, this quota system ruining their whole cricket atmosphere.

South Africa bowlers did a good job and took quick 5 -6 wickets. Although the England runs lead is still quite enormous but who knows if top order of the South Africans can bat well, we can see an interesting finish to this match.
SA needs 465 runs to win this match. No team has successfully chased a score that big to win the match. The biggest successful run chase in the fourth innings is 418 runs by WI against AUS.  So it's safe to say that ENG is going to win this match. I don't see a chance for a draw either, considering that we still have two days of play left.
Maybe RSA going to create a new record. Grin

Just sarcasm, their current batting performance is really bad so yes ENG is on the safer side now but who knows we may see old RSA team on this match?

If the South African bowlers were not able to pick all those wickets then the England captain would have set a record score to chase and i still do not understand their strategy, to give the England batsman some batting practice or to give rest to the bowlers and entertain the crowd as they scored above 6 runs an over in the final stages. South Africa now have a target of just 466 runs to win the match with two days left. I doubt even with the all time South African Test team they will be able to win the match but they could draw from this situation as they had some great players. Cheesy

Nothing can stop from England winning this test match. They are already 300 runs ahead with 8 wickets remaining.  I think the target should be to get a lead of 450-500 runs and then bowl out South Africa quickly. Still full 2 days and one session left in the game play.
With the terrible form the South African batsman are they do not need to put 417 runs on the board, it is time that they declare the innings and start hunting them down if they want to have some rest, i doubt South Africa will be scoring 250 runs in the seconds innings let alone scoring or defending the next two days and i am not sure why the England captain is extending the match like this.

South Africa is trying to built a partnership for the 8th wicket and they have put around 70 runs and they are frustrating the England bowlers like they did with the tail end partnerships  Cheesy. Quinton de Kock and Dwaine Pretorius is in the crease and this is the opportunity for Dwaine Pretorius to showcase his batting talent in the international stage as he is a decent batsman in the domestic tournament.

Dwaine Pretorius is out now. De Kock is the only player who performs well consistently. South Africa has turned into a poor performed country for a while. I think England will have an easy win this match with a big margin.
Edit- De Kock is gone too.

Ben stokes has made another unruly thing during the match at wanderers against South Africa, at the end of the match, Ben apologises for his bad language but it's not the first time he did like this, a lot of unruly things he had made previously, whatever the case is, England has made a huge impact after the end of the 2nd day of the first test. 400 runs and taken 6 wickets at this time was a really good performance so far. especially Mark Wook has taken 3 wickets for only 21 runs, Most important thing is that again pope has score 56 runs at his early career, but for me, this test will not much competitive.

Ben Stokes is an emotional player and he often gets in trouble because of his inability to control his emotions, but at the end of the day he’s not a bad player and whenever he realises that he’s wrong he will immediately apologise for his mistakes. @Murat I feel disappointed by South Africa’s players performance during their first innings, and I feel this match will end by tomorrow only as England players are not giving any chance to South Africa player’s to make a come back in this game.

Poor South Africa, nothing went in their favor when bowling tailenders. Must be a nightmare if No 10 and 11 making runs against you. You gotta feel for them no matter what, 80+ runs partnership for 10th wicket is brutal for any team.

This series is almost done for Protea fans, they must be crossing their fingers for another home series.
South Africa needs to travel to Zimbabwe for a series or Bangladesh should visit South Africa for the batsman to regain some confidence, touring Bangladesh will be difficult as they will stack with spinners which will be a struggle again for South Africa, they need to find some easy tours rather than taking on top level teams and hamper their confidence further.

Don't know if they are planning to visit or host Zimbabwe and they have one series against Bangladesh, not sure when.

But before that South Africa has bigger fish (Aus) to fry in next couple of months. let's hope England put them out of their misery first.  Tongue

82/5 and still trails by 318 run,RSA is really in very bad situation at the moment hope there will be some resistance given by de kock who is still at the crease for RSA.
The fate of South Africa is sealed, if the match goes to the fourth day then it will be a huge surprise and i am not expecting them to score 200 runs from this situation, this is the final series for Vernon Philander and they are not able to perform is really sad as he bowled South Africa to many victories and looking at the recent troubles they need to find some players from the domestic circuit and give them the exposure during these situations rather than sticking to players who are not performing series after series.

The match is almost lost now by SA as they are 88/6 and still trail by 312 runs and only 4 wickets in hand. Most likely they would be given follow on by England and if bowl like this first innings they should easily win it by innings and some runs in this test match as well.

They have pool of players but their problem is far bigger than good players. They use quota system to making team means they have pre decided how many white, asian and black players will be in team doesn't matter if 1 race don't have quality player but they have to select one of those unqualified or less qualified player in the team.

This is the reason they are suffering so much last some years because of quota system.

One name summarizes everything - Temba Bavuma.

He is playing his 40th test match at the Wanderers, and so far he has scored 1 century and 13 half centuries from 65 innings, with an average of 31.24. If he was playing for any other country, then he would have really struggled even to get in to a domestic side. But in South Africa, he got the opportunity to play 40 test matches (may complete 100 matches by the time he retire), just because he belongs to a particular racial group. South Africa is a very talented side, but talent won't be of any use when dozens of players go Kolpak every year.

Young players concentrate more on shorter form of cricket that is why it becomes hard when they enters into 5 day cricket match with red ball. They should groom players for test matches as well if they don't want to lose their reputation among international cricket.
For now there is nothing to dicsuss about the match hope de Kock will shine for them to get themselves away from innings loss.
Most of the players are concentrating on the shorter format but if they are able to learn good defense then they can play really well in testing conditions like in Test and ODI, the aggressive players who were successful had really great defense and the prime examples were Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden,Virender Sehwag etc.

If the South African cricket board had the pool of talents to replace these players they would have already done that and with the retirement of their world class players they were not even able to groom the youngsters but found a talent in Rabada but he is pushed too much in his young career, they need to look out for young batting talents and groom them rather than throwing them under pressure when the older players retire.
