As expected, the match has ended in another boring draw. The Zimbabwean bowlers had 90 plus overs with them, but they failed to bowl out the Sri Lankans. Rain also played a major role in this test match, and this is another example of the climate change affecting cricket schedule. Those who are proposing the 4-day test format needs to explain how they are going to take this factor in to account.

@Vishnu.Reang while this match may have ended in a draw I felt that the Zimbabwean team will be able to draw lots of positivity from this fixture, as they almost came close to winning this test match. Also I’ll second your concern regarding the weather, because so many matches gets washed out due to poor planning from the ICC.

When they saw Test matches ending in three days the ICC board thought that having a 4 day match would be great rather than having the regular 5 days and after the proposal many matches ended in the final day and some of the matches that would have ended in a draw had results and with this in mind i am sure they will rethink about that proposal and they should plan to make more day night Test matches rather than reducing the days.

Well... I have a suggestion here.

In case a test match ends within 3 days, then one ODI match or a T20 match should be scheduled for the 5th day (the 4th day can be used for rest). The cricket fans who purchased tickets for 4th and 5th days of the test match should be allowed free entry to this match. In this way, the board can earn more revenue, and no one will complain about the wastage of time.

Only if ICC and Cricket Board has any crystal ball in their bags, then there is a chance they can apply this in reality.

There is thingy called FTP ( Future Tour Program) this process fix the fixtures for 2-3 years in advance. who to play, when, where and how many games....

Zimbabwe bowlers just dint know how-to pick-up wickets at regular interval and this gave a chance to Mendis to build the innings and he did brilliantly which actually helped Sri Lanka to draw the test match rather than losing it. Zimbabwe would have fancied their chance of making this test match their winning but just it did not happened this time. Sikandar was named Man of the match for his brilliant all-round performance.

They didn't picked Kyle Jarvis for this match, and it had a negative impact on their bowling capabilities. All of their bowlers were inexperiened and this was reflected in the Sri Lankan second innings. The absence of a quality spinner is being felt, and I believe that the board should try to bring back Graeme Cremer (he relocated to the UAE last year).

Well Zimbabwe had their chance to win the match but their bowlers were just not good enough and couldn't continue on from the first innings. To be honest I think climate change is a load of bs and people need to stop blaming climate change for things. My grandfather said that the weather was a lot hotter back in his day then it is now and I can even prove that the sea was more inland then it is now so climate change is just made up to control the masses. Zimbabwe were just not good enough to win even though they had a big chance, simple as that.

I don't think any suggestion like this is going to be accepted by any board or player because its not going to happen they need to contact with insurrance companies hopefully this could be better for them as now these insureance companies can give money if test match is going end in 3 days and if 4 then they will give also something from 5th day.

Zimbabwe might just not win this test match and also rain has helped SL a lot else thing would be different now if entire lads session would have held . Zimbabwe today would like to pick as many wickets as possible in whatever overs possible today and try to atleast prove a pint that they did not lost hope and do perform well in bowling as well .
Sri Lanka is playing for the draw and the rain interruption has helped them if not we would have seen a result as Sri Lanka could have gone for the win or Zimbabwe could have bowled out Sri Lanka looking for the win. Zimbabwe will be more than happy to hold on to a draw when they could have increased the run rate and put Sri Lanka to bat in the 4th day itself but they delayed the declaration even with rain interruption.

I would say that Zimbabwe has wasted a golden chance to get a test victory to their name. They should have scored runs quickly and declared the innings by the end of second session. There is nothing wrong in taking risks. Zimbabwe has lost too many matches and another loss would have made hardly any difference. But there was also a rare chance of a win. They didn't took that risk, and went for the draw. I am fed up with their attitude.

If not for the bad weather Zimbabwe would have won the test match but they are not having the confidence to take risk and sent the Sri Lanka batsman to chase a small total and they are not having the freedom to score some quick runs, it the responsibility of the captain to take these decisions and it is really disappointing as they could have attacked Sri Lanka to chase a decent target in the final day rather than playing the entire 4th day.

The weather has come for the rescue for Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe should declare the innings soon as they already have a lead of 335 runs and they should take the risk if they need to level the series, either they have to score some runs quickly or declare right now. Considering the difficulties to bat in the fourth innings Sri Lanka need to bat really well if they want to draw or win the match, hope the weather will clear soon.

Now match is in progress, 25 +- overs left today and it seems they don't want to declare inning. ideally they should play 10-12 over more, add some quick runs. may be T-20 mode? Then declare the inning, give 10 overs to Srilanka before the stumps. 375-400 runs target is more than enough for Sri lanka.

Zimbabwe have taken a lead of 350 runs already and now Zimbabwe is running out of time because SL can bat alreast for a day and tomorrow is last day of the match. And just in case if rains again tomorrow and few overs must be cut then chances of Zimbabwe not winning increases and match will end up in a draw. Zimbabwe should declare quickly and try to pick couple of wickets before today's end of days play.

They are now 151/5 and total lead is 264 runs and 5 wickets in hand. They need to surpass the lead to 350+ runs in order to have good chance of winning the test match. They have played well till now in this test match and should bat well for rest of the innings to post a good score for SL to chase batting 4th else the climax could be just the same as the previous test match.

Rain ruined all delight of Zimbabwe as they was on driving seat now they need to think wisely can they restrict Sri Lanka in remaining match if yes then surely they have to take chance as its now final sessions and playing attacking cricket can help them if weather allows them otherwise this could be very bad for them.

Some crazy shit going on in the test match between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The Lankans were bowled out for just 293 (trailing by 113, with more than two days to go). If that was not crazy enough, Sikandar Raza picked up 7 wickets for 113 for Zimbabwe. Can you believe it? A part-time bowler destroying the Sri Lankan batsmen? I am waiting for more twists and turns from this match.

These things can happen but it is crazy to think that Sri Lanka were bowled out for under 300 runs and now Zimbabwe have a 175 run lead with 9 wickets in hand. Zimbabwe are in a great position to win this test match which would be a huge upset considering its been a while since Zimbabwe have won a test match against a good team and they would also draw the series. Day 4 is going to be a huge day for both teams, more so Sri Lanka as they wouldn't want Zimbabwe to get too far in front. I think 350 is enough for Zimbabwe to win the match.

The real surprise was someone like Sikandar Raza picking up 7 wickets, and not Sri Lanka getting blasted out for less than 300. That shows the lack of depth and quality in the Sri Lankan batting lineup. Razais someone who had just 23 test wickets to his name prior to this match (at an average of 45 plus). Can you really believe that he has bowled out the Sri Lankan side, which consists of heavyweights such as Angelo Matthews, Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva and Dimuth Karunaratne?

Zimbabwe is losing quick wickets and Taylor was batting so well is now out at 67 runs. They are now 151/5 and total lead is 264 runs and 5 wickets in hand.
