I was tempted to place a bet on the Draw market but looking at the odd now, I was disappointed:

@JohnBitCo, which bookies was giving you this odd?

The odds changes pretty quickly and if we wait a bit, we may not get same attractive odds. I checked the odds at https://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/england-v-west-indies-test-series

There can still be a result out of this match if the rain stays away because all it takes is for England to take a few quick wickets which then puts the pressure on the WI and as we have seen in the past the WI do crack under pressure. Right now the only team I can seeing winning is England as they can bowl the WI out for say 250 and then bat until they have a 380 run and put the WI into bat and see how they go. I can only see two outcomes here, England win or a drawn match.
Yeah, only England has a chance to win this match but I think we'll have a draw here. We only have a maximum of 180 overs in two days, so if England manages to get Windies out under 270 runs, they shouldn't go to bat but should enforce a follow-on and go for the kill if they want a result out of this match. I also doubt there will be some weather interference like bad light or some drizzles, so maybe we'll see around 160 overs, so it's better to enforce a follow-on incase Windies fall short of 270.

The weather is not that promising as the forecast says we might see rainfall in the afternoon and if we see delays like these then there is a possibility that West Indies could draw the match. If England is playing their best bowlers then we might see West Indies crumble under pressure but that is not the case in this match and West Indies could easily defend for 90 overs with 19 wickets remaining.

I think two days are also enough for the England team to bowl West Indies out but this rain is really helping west Indies. If they had the control, they would have want it to rain for all three days so that they can't lose the Match. Another thing is that if the match is drawn, the West Indies cannot lose the series.

The last time west indies draw the test series with ENG in England was 1995. And last time the won was on 1988. So it's time to make history for the team west indies.

I just looked at the odds of this match at the present moment and it does not look any attractive. Anyone of you planning to bet on this match at the present moment ?
Draw is very tempting. Imagine in the next two days there will be heavy rain in England and you have £100 on the draw market :-P

Honestly speaking, I am having a feeling that we may see a draw match in this one. West Indies batted well in the first Test and if they do the same in this Test then we may not see a result in this Test considering that we won't have any rain in the next two days.

The rain helped the West Indies and if the rain wash out the entire day then it will be extra work for England to bowl out West Indies twice in two days and it is not an easy task as i really think West Indies can delay things further and rain might help them further in the last two days as well.
Way too many Cricket matches are getting washed out due to rain interference these days. Big stadiums around the world need to consider retractable roofs in order to overcome this issue and the boards probably have a lot to gain in the long term.

Matches that get washed out or affected by rain(D/L method etc) are unfair in so many ways to both teams and nothing has changed though decades have passed since the inception of Cricket. Disappointing indeed!

Do you really think that the West Indian batsmen are capable of playing the long game here? I don't think so. England came back strongly in this match and I don't see any hope for West Indies to be honest.

If James Anderson and Jofra Archer is bowling along with Stuart Broad then i would not give West Indies any chance but with rain and just Broad in the team they have a chance to draw the match Wink.

Just an updated news that Jofra Archer will play the third test match which will make England team more stronger for the next game. Archer was fined and got a warning for his bio-security breach.

We have bad news from Manchester as its raining and few peoples saying we can lost today's all play due to this rain which is going to hurt very badly to home team https://twitter.com/GeorgeDobell1/status/1284398719203520512?s=20

This is actually good news for West Indies  Grin If today's play is washed out, then we have only 2 days of play so if the Windies bat sensibly they can end up in a draw  Wink But who knows maybe ENG will wind them up and win by an innings.

They have lost one wicket and are trailing by 437 runs. It is very much possible that England will bowl them out today, and then ask the West Indians to follow on. IMO, there is enough time available (~250 overs) in order to get a result from this match. If some of the West Indian batsmen can offer resistance against Broad/Curran/Woakes, then it may end up as a draw.
Today its still raining in Manchester and we have no chance of today's play but good thing is Sunday and Monday surely going to be good for cricket and England have enough time to bowled out West Indies in 190 to 200 overs.

3 team cricket is going on, trying to enjoy new format but empty-quiet stadium feels little weird in T-20/T-10 kind of format.

they now require a very good partnership and somebody to play a long inning to help WI make a comeback in the match.
They don't have many test match winners in their team in order to form such big partnerships. They won the 1st match thanks to great individual performances and some luck.

Who knows what will happen, England does not have their best bowling line up and if two players put up a good partnership then there will be a good chance of a draw but for that first they need to avoid the follow on and then bat as long as possible and frustrate the England bowlers and if they can bat the entire day then they will have 2 more days, it all depends upon how the West Indies players are going to perform and how long they can bat.

I see Zero percent chance of WI wining this one. There is no way West Indies can chase 469 but the question is whether they can avoid the follow on or not. They they 269 runs to avoid the follow on and i think the pressure on the batsmen will make this task impossible.

Yeah, 450 runs sounds good but with the sudden loss of wickets they probably won't reach it or they'll go for some heavy hitting and end up over 450. Irrespective of the score, ENG should declare and let Windies bat for 10-15 overs and try to pick some wickets.
England finally declared for 469/9 and the final wicket was frustrating the West Indies bowlers as they put on 42 runs before the England captain declaring the innings and i think Stuart Broad should be sent earlier rather than sending him as the last batsman because he does have a Test century against Pakistan, lets see how West Indies is going to respond as England is not having their best bowling line up.
Early wicket falls for West Indies now. Sam Curran takes wicket in first over itself. Why am I having a gut feeling that West Indian batting is going to skittle today one by one. Brathwaite batted really well in previous match all eyes are on him now how he bats from here. If West Indies bat for till first session day 4 or even can bat upto end of day 3, they can take this match towards a draw. That's the best thing I think West Indies can try winning the match from here is almost impossible. Even the win meter says West Indies has 2% chance of winning.

They are capable of avoiding follow on but not able to save this test match now its all one English attach how they deal tomorrow because if they have 2 or 3 wickets before lunch then surely they are going to be on top and have good control otherwise West Indies batting can give them some frustration giving rest to Anderson is still quiestionable.

I can say England are back they have done their job, this is going to be a one sided match. If England can get some early wickets, I do not think West Indies will be able to achieve the target of more than 400 runs.
