Yeah... that's good to be able to see in dollars as well.
Blockchain.info has this feature, too, and you can see that there are various spikes in transactions, but overall and over time the dollar value of the transactions is going up in considerable ways (not exponentially but decent amounts of ongoing increases in dollar transaction volume).
By the way, on blockchain.info you can zoom in and out of the chart for shorter periods, too.
