The key is to know when to stop, and for some people to know to never start.

The painful moment is when you have to stop because you don't have more money. And that can be a huge problem for many people, unfortunately.
If you have experience playing gambling and have good self-control, it may be easy for you to stop. But not for those who can't stop because they will definitely keep playing and maybe until the money runs out. Almost all of us have experienced this where we must stop because we have no more money to keep gambling. We should understand when to stop before the money runs out so we don't get into trouble later. We can deposit some more money because we have run out of money to play gambling, which can cause financial problems.

That's because a temptation to keep gambling makes them continue to gamble. They will see more promotions coming up to make them curious. Curiosity triggers them to try to get it by depositing more money. They are not aware and continue to play gambling as usual, but all that exists is that they experience defeats that can even exceed their budget or limits. In addition, the desire to repeat gambling games will pull them deeper into gambling, and eventually, they will become addicted to gambling.

The key is to know when to stop, and for some people to know to never start.

The painful moment is when you have to stop because you don't have more money. And that can be a huge problem for many people, unfortunately.
If you find yourself in a situation whereby you stop gambling because you have no more money, you are in trouble, because you are a reckless gambler and you have use the money that was never meant to be used for gambling.

A responsible gambler must never run out of money or lost everything to gambling, you have a responsibility and you have to gamble with your 100% sense.

Since losing in gambling is very high, then gambling isn't something you want to do every time, it's something worth doing when extra income comes.

Gambling shouldn't come to your mind when you have family to feed, when you have to pay your rent or when you have to invest for your future, the type of money that's worth gambling with are that very little income or let me say 1% of your salary.

If we don't take time to regulate gambling then it will one day turn to our own personal regulations in which it will control us and by then we would be left with nothing than to lay compliance to every dictates it give when we are gambling, but before this could have happened, there are necessary steps expected of us to take as well in controlling how addicted we are in gambling, because addiction is no longer a fun but a bad habbit.

There will be many people who always say about the importance of self-control but for me it's not that easy.
Because someone who is going to gambling for the first time, they are not aware that sometimes getting big wins is like luck, even though it is a trap to continue gambling with the ambition of getting bigger, but subconsciously the money will continue to be sucked in and lose after that, regret it.
This is the beginning of a person's addiction, which is a feeling of disappointment and after that they chase their defeats.
So if it's like this someone will find it difficult to control himself because in his mind there is always winning and winning.

That's what an addiction is.

It's similar to many other ones, like alcohol for example. People start drinking, and slowly drink a bit more without realizing the damage they are causing, because at the moment it feels good to drink or gamble, but then after a while they realize that they have lost all their money.

Winning and losing have a significant impact on our minds and emotions. Winning brings us happiness and contentment, and our motives during that time are always defined by a beautiful smile on our faces. When we lose, we become more astringent and disappointed, portraying frown faces. Some of us request vengeance concerning the system, but only if they are aware that they are exposing themselves to more imperative negative consequences. We aviod what we think is worse for us and embrace what we think is good. Gambling is just an act that is simple to begin but difficult to end.
That is true, those who lose tend to become more sensitive, and as a result of that, they become angry for very little things, will scold their children, will not talk with a straight and good face, they will be rude to almost everyone and the reason for all that will only be the losses that they have been facing in gambling, so gambling is actually not for such people and they should stop gambling at once.

Only those who can accept their losses with grace and have enough patience to just let them go without having them affect their personal life should gamble because a person who doesn't get affected much from losses will tend to gamble less and not spend a lot of money out of emotions.

Almost all the addictions follow the same process, at the start people can make do with a small dose, but as they keep doing this activity it comes to a point in which they need more of it in order to get the same effect, so the person that gambled 100 dollars per session now needs to gamble 200, and then 400 and so on, and unfortunately this process can be so slow that people do not realize what is going until it is too late and they find themselves being completely addicted to it and they cannot stop anymore.

many gambling addicts have lost their minds because their desire to continue gambling overpowers their common sense, hence the importance of "gambling responsibly"
Self-control that failed to do for cases of gambling addicts like him.
I once answered that I would not be offended if someone said I was a gambling addict because indeed I gamble not as a main job to support my family but to have fun when I am in a good mood.

If that's the case with him, maybe it deserves credit, lol
I agree with you that gambling addiction is caused by failed self-control when always chasing defeat, which can never stop before getting the victory he wants.
But when this victory has been obtained, he will definitely continue to gamble because he is too comfortable with the mentality he experiences when he gets a win that makes him happy.
Apart from failing to control oneself when pursuing victory, gambling addiction is also caused by curiosity when gamblers experience big wins because by getting big wins a gambler experiences addiction and there is a goal to have even bigger wins.
There are many factors that cause gambling addiction but the most dominant is high curiosity and also has the goal of enriching gambling.

That is why many other gamblers advise not to get too obsessed with wealth from gambling and always accept defeat so you don't become an addicted gambler and always chasing large amounts of money.

It's different in alcohol addiction actually, I mean the process. I think I've been there when I was younger. Alcohol will start to taste sweet when you become addicted to it while it is supposed to taste really bad for others.
In gambling, it becomes a calling. Most of the time they want to get back whatever losses they experienced. Chasing losses. While for a few, it is because they felt how good the feeling of winning and spending it on something else.
I am not a gambling addict but I felt the chasing losses part where I want my money back. But after I lost everything in my balance I stopped and never did that again. It just leads to destruction and a more losing streak because you are not thinking straight anymore. Drunk to the illusion that one good winning bet will get you back on track. It does not work like that, especially in casino games. They will just keep on taking, they might give a little but the system will always be on the business side.

People who gamble deal with gambling in different ways. But of course you start with losing and winning. When we win, the moods are usually reasonably comparable, but the problems naturally arise when a player is losing. Some cry in a corner and avoid all contact with other players. And yet other gamblers who have lost need contact to push away the gambling loss and try to forget that a financial blow has taken place. There are also several books written about it, by the way, for enthusiasts.
For every player it will always be essential to have full control of their thoughts, emotions and above all the money they can handle, for this reason I always say, a person who enters a casino always enters with the thought that they cannot see or casino as an ATM, but see it as a means where you will have a part of your money for fun and not to win necessarily, that is what many do not see, and I call it maturity, as a person goes advancing in the game that is what you learn and above all to manage your money and everything that has to do with your vision

I want to believe that too much of addiction in anything we do will make someone have a little percentage of madness in it and this keep developing to a more a bigger challenge over time, this is why we must control our emotional feelings and never allows it to control us, we have to take some delibrate steps in action to show gow determined we are in avoiding this from happening, gambling addiction added nothing into gambling than frustration and reproach at the end.

Madness towards gambling activities is simply addiction; a desperate gambler is willing to stake anything in order to gain money for gambling; they would go to adverse extremes, not minding the repercussions. It's critical that we understand where our problems are coming from; gambling has become a difficult barrier that has hindered individuals and kept one in the dark path, never recovering from the losses we have recorded; I believe it's high time we emerge preventive measures from gambling, securing a safe path towards profiting from our mistakes.

In my opinion, the self-control factor will not apply to those who are addicted, because it is undeniable that they will justify various ways to fulfill their desire to gamble, losing has become their best friend, and winning is a source of pride when they succeed in achieving it.
This is another meaning of failing to control yourself.
Hong Kong films entitled God of Gambler I and II can be an illustration of how a gambler controls himself.
No matter how heavy and big the addiction that is owned by the gambler, it can still be controlled unless the gambler has lost his mind, aka crazy in health sciences.

I can say that in one week only two days I don't gamble because it's time for family. The type of gambling that I mean is slot gambling starting from slots. But if it's the lottery, I place soccer bets almost every week.
For slots, I have already set how many I will install. If you win, the story will continue. If you lose, stop for the day and resume tomorrow.
This is not a pride that I should show off.

If you are not a gambling addict then I don't think you will be active to keep doing it. Gambling addicts are very different from gamblers, gambling addicts will continue to return to do it based on high expectations, and gamblers are those who do gambling with the sole aim of filling boring or stressful free time because of work and not thinking too much about winning. This means that gamblers will not continue to do it because they think this is just entertainment and I call you a gambler, not a gambling addict because you only do it at certain times.

That's why, those who are used to following their emotional will to fulfill their gambling desires, tend to have the title of addict. automatically, they tend to ignore self-control and even have no self-control, especially with responsibility. but there is an interesting point for me, losing has become a friend for them. and this, too, applies to gamblers who do it for fun. IMO, it makes no difference. after all, losing and winning are the consequences of betting.

But yes, usually gambling addicts have a tendency to have intense gambling sessions. in fact, they can do it any time they want. or, every day. in the end, they will suffer a lot of losses. some people who have limited funds, will usually stop when they don't have the funds to gamble. some compulsive gamblers, will look for various ways to fulfill their gambling desires. well, as happened to what was told in this thread. the grandfather acted beyond his common sense, just to fulfill his desire to gamble. which in the end his desire to gamble was unstoppable, so he did something reckless and ended up with serious accusations on the basis of what he did.
Your analysis skillfully portrays the dance between emotion and gambling - a disregard for restraint by habitual players. Yes, gambling swings between loss and gain, but this reality is viewed differently by various individuals.

Labelling regular gamblers as 'addicts' simplifies the matter. DSM-5 defines addiction as an enduring, compulsive engagement with rewarding stimuli, despite harmful outcomes. It's critical to distinguish between frequent gamblers and those facing a gambling disorder - the latter requires professional help.

The grandfather's case underlines this severity. Acts under compulsive gambling's sway are disorder symptoms, not deliberate choices. Therefore, nurturing a culture that promotes conversation about gambling risks and offers support for those battling it is essential.

That is the problem of gambling addicts, they do not care and do not go deep into thinking and analyzing what they are doing and what consequences their actions will bring to them personally and to their family as second or maybe first to their family and second to them as I hope people are not that selfish anymore, things have changed and I hope also addictions have changed.

We are trying to advice here everyone to not play more than they cannot afford to lose and to set a predetermined bankroll which will help keep them in line as long as they follow these predetermined limits but unfortunately we still have people who have lost their common sense and are deep in addiction, though is a good thing that these people are fewer and few.
