Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
Being influential in this context should mean the ability of a user to Influence how  others (another) behave(s) in the forum. If this simple definition is true, I will like to mention some users who I can say are the most influential people in the forum.
This is excluding admin, staff or moderators. And also excluding people I didn't actually meet in the forum but have heard about them.
Below are but not limited to why these users are influential.
  • Being on DT
  • Being a merit source
  • Being a scam burster
  • Being a campaign manager
  • Personal Charisma
Without the above, anyone could be as influential as everyone .

Growing in the forum, these are members I believe are influential, especially to growing members from newbie to Sr member. The list is in no special order of importance.

  • Hhampuz: The is a renowned manager who manages most of the long lasting campaigns in the forum. As a lower-ranked member, he Influenced me to make good posts in order to earn high number of merits to join his campaign.  And I eventually succeeded. So, he Influenced me positively.
  • Ognasty: Because of his thread to give merits to newbie if you can sign a message or send encrypted message. He Influenced me and other newbies to learn how to sign a message.
  • The Pharmacist: He is a strong voice who stands for truth no matter who is involved. When you are in trouble and he speaks for your favour, you are likely getting out of it. Then, if he isn't in your side, it's a scary story.
  • LoyceV: Always with a decent and near perfect opinions and judgement at every time. If everyone wants you to be killed, LoyceV is always that person that will stand out, if there are not compelling reasons to do so. With good number of threads in meta created by him that ought to be pinned. He is influential
  • Lovesmayfamilis, Ratimov, JollyGood and Nutildah are the first scam bursters I knew. They have great influence in the forum, as they are the nightmare of scammers. 1xbit spammers will always be afraid of JollyGood.  Then, Ratimov has Influence on lower-ranked members because of his thread to help newbies and others rank up. Lovesmayfamilis will tell even a newbie a blatant truth, whether bitter or sweet, which gave her a voice apart from scam bursting.
  • yahoo62278 and Darkstar_ : Yahoo62278 is known for checking methods of Posts, maybe with lingistic, this makes new users pay attention to their posting pattern.  Darkstar_ is influential due to the prestigious chimpmixer campaign and his loan services
  • DdmrDdmr fillippone and CryptopreneurBrainboss: DdmrDdmr is always that user that will leave 1 or 2 merits on almost every of my post. I had to visit his profile to see the type of Posts he likes. Fillippone made me start researching, I just believed that research was only for high school till I met him. CryptopreneurBrainboss has a high Influence as a bounty and signature manager,  and also to Nigerians. He and Ratimov love topics teaching newbies to be successful in the forum and I created a number of those topics and they merited them

These compilation is a personal list as a result of boards that I post, especially Beginners and help, Meta and Bitcoin Discussion. I know there are other influential users in boards that I don't frequent, I might not have encountered them.
Thanks for reading.

That should tell you that there's no collusion happening behind the scenes (or that I'm just excluded from it, although I'm always invited to the witching hour sex parties gatherings, where identities are hidden with some extremely creative masks).
I'm just gutted you guys don't have special guests on occasion, unless I'm just not up to the standard of those guests, which would be totally understandable.

Not a single active poster on this forum in indispensable. Obviously legends like satoshi & Hal have walked amongst the mere mortals like ourselves here but this forum will go on for a long time. Not a single active poster here is too important or too influential.

You can talk about Activity, Merit, Trust Ratings but none of it is important. This is coming from somebody with these stats so I have no reason to hate:
Basically true for every walk of life. No one's replaceable, and life continues to go on despite what happens. That might be a morbid way of looking at things, but it's the reality. Would I miss key users of this forum is they discontinued contributing? Absolutely, but it's not like we're going to shut up shop because of it.

Some users have carved their way into history though, and their legacy will live on as long as those that remember it live on. That's something at the very least.

Absolutely true, indispensable is the key word.

It is all about rotation. Members come and members go... some move on and never return whereas some return rarely or intermittently. Others sadly pass away and that is life, that is the irony. In that process, the forum continues where new members come or not and/or whether existing members continue to frequent or not.

The ecosystem is in itself an amazing thing and that is it... remove the forum and there is nothing but remove the members then others will register.

Having said that I think the OP asked the question with a different intent to what was stated because he later redefined why he asked the question.

Congratulations on your amazing statistics  Wink

Even theynos is replaceable, so my answer to the question in the OP is that nobody in the most influential. We’re all here for our own reasons, I love this forum, without it I wouldn’t have kept buying so much bitcoin in the early days but whatever, nobody is so influential that it means much.

Peace.

Tell  who you think is influential and why.

1. My first user is JayJuanGee: this user is a personality I've studied with my little experience while in the forum to be a straight forwarded person, he's an active and a consistent quality poster, his posts were full of taughts and he addresses discussions from live experience just as the real situation is, i also observed him as been versatile in carrying out task, this were lessons i learnt unaware to him through his discussions on the forum.

2. My second user is Ddmrddmr: i was first attracted to this user when i came across a thread created by @fillippone that says [FUN] Is DdmrDdmr even human? then i also give a glance on his profile and since then, I've always respected his abilities beyond doubts in giving out the best to the smothiness of the community, i also wonder if he never get tired and how he multitask himself to arrive on achieving outstanding results, he has many threads that involve taking time in extracting data form the forum such as that of Bitcointalk Ranking-up pipeline- Those close to their next rank (lacking Merits) which is consistently updated.

3. My third are these two wonderful set of users: Fillippone and Ratimov, i intentionally bring them together because there's similarities in their thinking approach and creativity, i love to read their threads because they always bring in new ideas in doing things, they take alot of their efforts in doing research about a particular area, they picture a particular need and create a fill on the vacuum space, i wish to develop upto their abilities in the nearest future.

How can a member create a club in the forum, it is not like they can go to the pub and have beer together discussing how best to further strengthen the club
Not beer; Scotch whisky.

The real answer here is achow101. As the only Core maintainer with an active presence here, he is probably the most influential person here in terms of bitcoin's development and future.

I just wanted to know who better not to mess with to avoid problems. Those who, through their influence and pressure, can destroy your reputation on the forum. Someone to be feared, or at least someone who should have their ass licked to be your friend.
Anyone can destroy your reputation if you are doing shady things. It doesn't matter if it's some newbie account or me, if you are being accused of something with proof your account can potentially be ruined depending on the offense.

As far as whom to avoid, don't avoid anybody. We are all just people and shouldn't be feared. You ask me a legitimate question whether in a thread or a pm, I will likely give you an answer as long as i'm aware of the question. I'm not looking for anyone to kiss my ass or anything, just be nice in our interactions and you'll go far with me.

In my seven years of existence on this forum, I have seen many people, and in my opinion Lauda was one of the most influential people here. I take into account only ordinary users, those who are not related to Bitcoin Core. I'm talking about those people who have influence on the public.

Tell  who you think is influential and why.

I cannot say that merits received are an appropriate barometer to indicate or ascertain influence. By the way, we all probably define or interpret the word influence in different ways.

By the way, your account was created in 2018 therefore in November 2022 it will be 4 years (not 7 years). Which accounts have you been operating for the other 3 years?

Different people have different influence in different sections.

True.

Nearly all of those posting in the technical, scam accusation, reputation and lending boards are not posting in the gambling/gambling discussion boards and vice-versa. Each are capable of having their own impact on those frequenting those particular boards.

Although I highly esteem also some non-technical peeps, I have a feeling you prefer a list of drama queens and forum policemen, and that's... not really influential for me...
I do not know why the OP created this thread but there seems to a little more than curiosity.

You created this airfinex account in 2018, I think you are very well aware of certain names yet you created this thread starting with a misdirection only hoping it leads on to the path which your real motive and question is now based on.

Yeah... for me influential means... to be somebody I can always learn from, somebody I wish to be like that person.
This is a forum. You can always make a new account and start fresh. While it's best to be friendly and try to be part of a great community.. licking this or that ass for "being secure" may not get you far. I guess that if you want to be part of this or that mafia/gang you'll have to ask at the street corners, not asking loudly  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Ratimov
I don't think he has any influence here. While it has made some serious progress, (it has evolved from a translation spammer to an adequate poster).

What about Sir theymos? No one is going to mention Sir theymos? I suppose that if he is not mentioned it will be for the same reason as Satoshi, although he is active, he doesn't write much.
Theymos is a tough one: on the one hand I feel like theymos is the least influential person here, because he gives people the freedom to do almost anything they want. But on the other hand theymos influenced me quite a bit into appreciating freedom of expression, even when I don't agree with the opinion. It's part of what made me thick skinned.

Sorry, but without the technical details there's no bitcoin.
My list of influential people are people with very good knowledge in Dev&Tech or Mining.
Since you don't care about those, I have no list to give you.

Not yet, but I will. See how influential you can be?  Grin

On a more serious note, I was thinking of active members. Satoshi is not active anymore.

What about Sir theymos? No one is going to mention Sir theymos? I suppose that if he is not mentioned it will be for the same reason as Satoshi, although he is active, he doesn't write much.

Btw, I hope someone will give some merit to airfinex, I am out atm, but I think he deserves at least one because after so many drama threads lately, a thread that can have a funny touch is appreciated.

I disagree. I may be on top of that list (while it lasts), but that doesn't mean I could influence people. I may be able to convince some users in certain ways (such as how to use the Trust system correctly), but in my book being influential means you can influence people in any direction. I don't think I'd be able to get people to use some shitcoin for instance (nor am I willing to find out).
I like to think of it as "I can only show you the door, you're the one who has to walk through" (quote taken from Morpheus, but I sure hope you knew that already when you read it).

For me in particular LoyceV would be number 1
That doesn't make me influential. Please go buy pink shoes. I said please!

Different people have different influence in different sections.
There are a lot of people here who I will read and trust and accept what they have to say in certain areas. Say here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=6.0 but when thy are discussing things here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=228.0 I just about ignore everything they have to say.
I don't know what I don't know, and I really don't know what other people don't know until they talk about things I do know.

Are there people who have more influence yes, but even someone like o_e_l_e_o who I think has a lot of influence in certain areas due to his beliefs / eloquence in the way he talks about things / knowledge in a lot of areas would have a really hard time influencing things in the mining hardware section or the altcoin mining section. Because even with his post count and merit and everything else. He is not known there. He could read it every day but we would not know that. Heck I'm even like that I made my 1st post in the gambling section today in months. Read it a lot, just don't talk about it so to speak. So although those stats are good as an overall view as you drill down it gets a bit different. Or at least it does in my opinion.

Foxpup has created a unique closed club, whose members represent the cream of this forum and no one in their right mind will dispute his tags and will not argue with him publicly, because whoever does this will be subjected to a flurry of criticism from the members of the closed club (and those who trust these people).
Baaahhh-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!  (I'm laughing about the trailing criticism gang thing)

Foxmaster's club is indeed exclusive and shrouded in mystery, but it doesn't mean there's ever a concerted effort to reinforce Foxxy's opinions by stifling dissent.  I hate to admit this, but since I have avatars on ignore I'm not even sure who my fellow cyclists are.  That should tell you that there's no collusion happening behind the scenes (or that I'm just excluded from it, although I'm always invited to the witching hour sex parties gatherings, where identities are hidden with some extremely creative masks).

I agree with you about Lauda, though.  If we're talking strictly about influence on members of the forum, Lauda was right up there with Vod, OgNasty, TECSHARE, and Bruno.  There are others, but at the moment there seems to be a dearth of very strong, outspoken personalities who acquire a cadre of acolytes.  Leaders, in other words.  Or maybe there are and I'm not paying enough attention and missing them--or my definition of "influence" is too strict.

How can a member create a club in the forum, it is not like they can go to the pub and have beer together discussing how best to further strengthen the club, i will not believe in that theory.
Not believing in the Merit Cycling Club will put a member's name on a secret list, just FYI.  I think you're underestimating just what our club does and what resources it has access to--and that's to your detriment, my friend.  *lulz*

The most better thing is to choice your own road, have a correct behavior, respect everyone, and don't mind about club, sect or other; with a correct behavior no one will have something against you, especially, always fight scam, community must be protected from it. This place have to be always clean.

Anyway, here is my list of most reputable user of forum:

- The Pharmacist
- yahoo62278

Any member can dispute whatever they want if they do not agree with it, i understand there is free speech in the forum, you can likewise criticize what you do not like. Leaving tags, whether positive, negative or neutral is for every member of the forum, distrusting people too, so we all can use it.

Hell if there is even a way to create a club Cheesy anybody should go ahead and create theirs if they want, FREEDOM! Cool

I have disagreed with him, in ideological or political matters because he is quite left wing, but I don't think we have ever had a direct discussion, I think he ignores me or something. Better. The time I spend on the forum I don't want to spend it angry, that's why I haven't been in the political section for some time and I tend to avoid discussions on other boards if I see that the positions are entrenched.

You just answered the question yourself. I would extend it to those in the top positions of not only earned merit but also most trusted and most recognized.

For me in particular LoyceV would be number 1 not only because of all he knows about the forum but also because of his thick-skin mindset.
