It's understandable to be frustrated. Uniswap, while amazing in what it has done for decentralized exchanges, it is expensive when the network's gas is so high.  Unfortunately, when it comes to layer1 ethereum, it is pay-to-play. Layer 2 will fix this, but nothing is free.  The world saw how that turned out with business models like Facebook. It's free until you realize what you've given up to use the service. Pros and cons to being your own bank and abandoning traditional financial institutions. 

In the meantime, there are other ways to earn MVT.  If you are already holding MVT, you can pair it with ETH to generate LPs to deposit in the farming contract. If you have skills you'd like to share with the DAO, reach out and we can set up some sort of bounty. One such project I could use some help with is MovementDAO.Finance and the backend contracts.  We are always looking for Movers to start spheres. There are still bounty funds available. And if any of that isn't appealing and you still want to hold some MVT or MDT get a hold of me. We can work something out. Also, Season 2 Farming starts soon! 

Pineapples is also building a cross-chain oracle that I believe will solve a lot of the problems seen in the crypto space. If you've never seen his Obelus.Voto and mind bending 4D Chess, check it out.  Cross-chain inoperability is going to be the future of a tokenized society. Different layers for different things on different chains.  Ethereum isn't going anywhere and when it comes to developers, infrastructure, and balls I think they've got it cornered.

ETC has the same issues, the architecture is archaic, it cannot scale

I’d bet ok etc.  it’s the original chain and immutable with a hard cap.  I think it’s gonna me in-play soon in a big way.  It’s doubled but at $12 it’s dirt cheap.

Props to you. I actually lost $20,000 today via margin trading (conservative longs, only 7x), can't tell you how I feel.

I agree that the current 300-500 gwei gas cost is insane, no joy to use Ethereum anymore these days

yeah this is because Ethereum is unfortunately severely broken cause it can't handle the traffic it's receiving ... so it has pretty much become a whale network. I hope ETH 2.0 comes within the next 3 years or projects like The Movement migrate to a better chain. What do you guys think about this?

I have never used Uniswap before, how much would it cost to exchange ETH to MVT? Etherscan shows that Uniswap Swap estimated cost is $145.21, is it real? Do I need to pay $300 to get $150 worth of tokens?

Great question. So, think of MVT as an inflation-resistant currency used by the DAO. The idea is that we are building out an ecosystem that incentives use by using MVT as a store of value.  Now, at the moment, you can hold it speculatively as it rises in value. You can Pair it with other tokens to become a Liquidity Provider and earn transaction rewards. You can then stake those LP's in the Farm contract to earn MVT.  Soon you'll be able to Stake it in what Greenpoint Land Reserves is doing to earn rewards.

And I'm sure people are wondering about MDT and why they swapped in the first place.  It controls everything. As the ecosystem is built out and Spheres start adding value to the whole, the end of the stream of value really lies with MDT.  

Greenpoint and Proof of Acre will do some interesting things in how it interacts with both tokens and each time a sphere is added MDT's reach increases. Let your imagination take you on a trip.
