Check this out how Khamzat Chimaev fluctuated 5 pounds during second weigh-in and he was holding a towel to reduce his weight and cheat the scale.
He was going from 171 to 166 pounds in just 45 minutes   Cheesy

UFC 267: Ceremonial Weigh-in live now

Yan offered Sandhagen a hand shake.  Now we know he’s gonna be in the cage to kill Sandhagen.  Cheesy

My first impression after looking at the stats and thinking about the stylistic match up, Sandhagen.  After watching some  tape of both, Yan.  It could be sketchy early for Yan tho.  So Yan live bet after the first or the second round could be better than taking him straight up at the current line.

I'm looking to get a full set of predictions out tomorrow in time for the fights, I haven't done one in a while. Going to be reviewing some tapes tonight on some of the lesser known fighters to see if I can identify any potential upsets here.

Really? Never seen or heard about that. But I know that there are tv series named "Kingdom" about retired mma fighter, training and coaching. But it is not like Rocky like movie. You wont find any motivating moments like "eye of the tiger" or "gonna fly now" there.

Anyone watched staredown? Makhachev vs Hooker, Chimaev vs Jingliang were smiling all the time. I like that attitude. No disrespect between fighters.

My predictions are: Blachowicz, Yan, Makhachev, Volkov, Chimaev, Ankalaev.
Kingdom series is my absolutely favourite, though I'll admit it's more a drama series than MMA though I quite liked the actors in that, and it was well put together. I know "Born a champion" that was released earlier this year. There's also "Notorious Nick" which is about a one armed MMA fighter. There's also "American Fighter" all of which have either been released in 2021 or being released in 2021. So, that's at least three movies off the top of my head, but I believe there was more. I think the "Born a champion" is the biggest budget one.

I'll be honest I don't think any of them are going to compete with Kingdom, one of the most underrated series about in my opinion.

On a slightly off topic note, has anyone else noticed the amount of MMA movies coming out or being announced recently?

Good event this weekend, two title fights if I'm not mistaken? I'm fancying Polish power in Jan Blachowicz against Glover. I'm also going out on a bit of a limb here, and going with the Cory Sandhagen win against Petr Yan, though I'll admit there's a bit of bias in there, as I quite like Cory.

Ah yes! I can now see the torn bicep Wink

Chimaev also had covid during his absence in UFC. Also he though to retire, but this weekend he fights in UFC267. Theoretically, he might have mental issues or motivation for a nice fight (if this fight is just an obligatory from contract). His current shape is unknown so far. His opponent is also not a no-name. 7 years in UFC, experienced, never been knockout (has a very strong chin) and lost only once by submission. Has a good cardio, while Chimaev fights never last more than 7min. I dont expect this as an easy fight for Chimaev.

Cant resist not to post Cheesy

Fat Costa is not a mythical figure, this is the norm now XD Yeah, not many people are leaning away from Chimaev at this point. I mean, he might surprise us, anything is possible. The current state of fighters in the UFC is that it seems you can't get hooked on any fighter in particular, like none and all at the same time have a chance of going to the top, and that makes it more exciting IMHO.

I suggest that you guys watch UFC 267 Pre-fight Press Conference and faceoffs, because I can tell you that you could feel electricity in the air between fighters and I expect to see some amazing fights.
So is Polish or Brazilian power going to be stronger this weekend? Smiley

I already made my predictions, and yet it was interesting to watch the Press Conference. It's almost certainly the nearest time to the event when we can see the fighters. It's like we can feel their spirit, read their mindset from the way they act and talk.

I'm not sure about my other predictions, but now I'm glad that I bet on Volkan Oezdemir to beat Magomed Ankalaev, and on Jingliang Li to beat Khamzat Chimaev(this guy looked so nervous like he knew he was going to lose). Also, from what I saw I think Jan Błachowicz will lose to Glover Teixeira, and I bet on Teixeira!

Thanks for sharing @notblox1! Now it will be twice as exciting to see how it turns out.

Yeap: "“I came in a little bit higher [in] weight because I needed to stop some weeks of training,” said Costa, who clarified the injury was to his left bicep at the post-fight press conference for Saturday’s event in Las Vegas.".

I might try to save Costa reputation, saying that with such an injury you can not sit in sauna for hours and cut weight quick enough, because injury wont just heal. Or he could make this injury even worse. Loosing water from an organism is very dangerous. In his instagram photos, he had a strip or bandage on left biceps. But, if he knows that he is such a heavy guy, he should have started preparing for 185 long time ago.
Yeah, okay it could impact some elements of cutting, though the way he was throwing that night, he didn't look like he was suffering with it too much, and considering most of the cutting process is done in the 72 hours before the fight, I don't think it's a valid excuse. Though, I think my point still stands, that if he was injured, and knew this was going to impact the fight, then he should have postponed the fight.

Although, he was throwing with intent, and had decent volume so I'm not inclined to believe this, especially considering his excuses after the Israel fight. Honestly, if Costa said he had a torn bicep before that fight, I might have believed him since he didn't throw much right up until he got crumpled.

Chimaevs  was out for 1 year + according to the ufc embedded vlog .

Wow, 1 year is a bitch to return to. But it might have given him enough time to gradually recover and gradually build-up to his full fighting capacity. And that gives me more confidence in his ability for this fight. I was honestly completely unaware a year has passed. But hey, Dom Cruz said that ring rust does not exist.

He also had a bad case of covid.  And Li isn’t a push over either.  He’s a step up for Chimaev.  Maybe not by much but still..  Li is a decent fighter.  Would I take the underdog?  Nope.  Lol.  But I wouldn’t bet on Chimaev at 1.18 either.  Chimaev R1 could be worth a sprinkle.  Let’s see where the line is at when it opens.

Read this very inspiring story on Glover Teixeira. It is a long article, however, it is not a waste of your time. I reckon after reading this, this man has a heart of a champion. He might be a good bet against Jan because Jan was against an overrated fighter when he won the championship and his first defense of his championship is only vs. a middleweight.

Guns, smugglers, and impossible dreams: Glover Teixeira opens up on the ‘dangerous’ 43-day illegal journey to U.S. that started it all

Overcoming hurdles in the cage seems easy compared to what Glover Teixeira had overcome to fulfill the American dream.

Ahead of his shot at becoming the oldest man to be crowned a first-time UFC champion when he challenges Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight belt on Oct. 30 at UFC 267, Teixeira opened up like never before about his journey from Brazil to the United States as an illegal immigrant on MMA Fighting’s Portuguese-language podcast Trocação Franca.

The Brazilian veteran, who turns 42 the day before UFC 267’s weigh-ins in Abu Dhabi, was one of many kids from the small Brazil town of Sobralia who dreamed about leaving in pursuit of a better life in the United States. The area became infamous in Brazil for an exodus of people trying to enter the U.S. illegally, and Teixeira eventually joined the pack.

Teixeira decided to give it a try when he was just a 19-year-old teenager, five years after his cousins left Sobralia to make a living in America.

Crossing the border was already no easy task, but getting there was a challenge in and of itself.

“It’s tense,” Teixeira said. “It took me 43 days to get here. Everybody knows how dangerous it is to cross the Mexico border. People die, people get arrested, tortured. So [my mother] was very concerned, but also hopeful that her son was going after his dream, going after a better life.”

My early gut feeling is telling me that Błachowicz will win in main event against Glover Teixeira, after I watched his brutal mountain training preparations and interviews.
I don't like low odds for his win and I am thinking of placing a bet that fight will end early, or something similar that has more value.

^  Remember tho..  Texiera almost got KO’d by Santos twice before Texiera eventually got Santos’ back and submitted him.  So that chin is prolly shot.  And Blachowicz can def KO most 205’ers.  But if anybody really feels like going that route, shop for a good line.  Fight goes the distance at least at 3 would be a decent bet.

Btw, in post fight interview Costa explain why he weighed a lot and probably lost. Because 2 weeks before the fight, he had his left biceps torn and missed part of his camp. Can we count this as legit or just an excuse ? Cheesy
Did he actually say that?

Yeap: "“I came in a little bit higher [in] weight because I needed to stop some weeks of training,” said Costa, who clarified the injury was to his left bicep at the post-fight press conference for Saturday’s event in Las Vegas.".

I was wondering why @TopTort777 was saying the main fight will go the distance until I saw the stats.

Both fighters have good KO records, but most of them were not in UFC. When they fight UFC level opponents, the stats are not as cool as they look at first glance Cheesy Both of them, if they loose, they lose by decision. Texeira might try to show his karate voodoo, but Jan has showed that he is good at defending such magic (in a fight against Adesanya). Dont know why, but I think that the fight will go full distance with fighters throwing lots of strikes. Last round, the one who has more stamina will show who is the real champ.

The fight island looks cool but majority of the fighters flying from US and surrounding countries will not be liking the long flights as it would take sometime to get rid of the jet lag and then get accumulated to the weather condition. The hospitality is world class and if not for the long and tiring travel they would enjoy fighting in the UAE.

Well, you are right, mostly that is too tiring and the jetlag for most fighters but I guess there are prior rest to all fighters that will arrive at the fight island is a must, and they are just doing this because it is for the safety and the health protocols that need to be sustained, and this fight island is possible because of the pandemic.

Jan Blachowicz, Islam Makhachev, Khamzat Chimaev looks like a good parlay to bet, have to check their opponents and finally glad to see  Khamzat Chimaev return after a long break.

I am also looking to bet for those guys but I am still looking at their opponent's stats, capability, style, and records, and I will definitely post my picks when I am done with my research, but for me, I have 4 picks in this event, Jan Blachowicz, Islam Makhachev, Khamzat Chimaev, and Amanda Ribas.
