What if Chimaev wins Burns? Will that put him on top2 place? Wont it automatically make him closest person to have a title fight ? If I am not mistaken, Burns lost to Usman in his last fight. Is he planning - "Chimaev is a rising star that one day will be champ. If I fight him, I will a) no matter of the fight result, get good money b)beating a rising star will give me a closer chance for another title fight".

Gilbert Burns open to fight Khamzat Chimaev: 'Why not? I'll give him the opportunity'

Finally a man with the balls  Grin  Finally a guy who agrees to fight a fighter lower in top, instead of complaining that "a fight with a lower top fighter does not give anything for his career". Finally a guy who challenged Chimaev, instead Chimaev challenges to fight anyone. What do you think guy? Who is going to win if they fight? Top2 fighter is not a joke. It will be a good test for Chimaev.

And finally, will UFC organize that fight or they have other plan on Chimaev?

Imo, Chimaev is a rising star of MMA. His record looks much weaker than that of Gilbert Burns, but he's young, he's only 3 years in the business, while Burns is there from 2012. Burns is a great fighter, no doubt about that, but fighting with Chimaev is very risky for him. Who needs to be defeated by a relative newbie? And yet he said: 'Why not? I'll give him the opportunity'. I admire his bravery, but I think if they fight - Chimaev wins.

^  Gilbert Burns is prolly out there to prove himself after Dana White said something bad about his performance against Thompson.  Lolol.  But what a gangster.

Anyway yeah...  the next event is a sleeper.  There are good match ups in there just like the last event.  And here’s the thing, if you watch the UFC long enough the match ups are the only thing you care about, not the name value.

Michael Chiesa vs Sean Brady is a good match up.

Talia Santos will be a good prospect to fight Valentina if she can get past Joanne Calderwood.

Loma Lookboonmee is one of the best kickboxers in all of woman's MMA imo.

Sean Soriano is one of Michael Chandler's main training/sparring partners out of Sanford MMA in florida.

Miesha Tate is a friend of Julianna Pena and they both seem to be going a little off the deep end. They're both saying outrageous things that don't make a ton of sense.

I expect Burns to give Chimaev a harder time than his previous fights, he'll definitely get hit at least once lets say Cheesy. He isn't going to be able to bully Burns as much. Could be a potential hiccup in the road for Chimaev, which could lower his stock. I see Dana looking for an alternative fight for both.

Gilbert Burns is a world champion in brazilian jiu jitsu. He would be a good test for Chimaev's ground game. .

This was one amazing main event to watch and great performance from both Holloway and Rodriguez!
I expected to see fight going to distance but I had some hope that Rodriguez could snatch surprise victory, but Holloway was better on the ground.
Rematch would be a great idea, but I think Dana might keep Holloway for one more champ fight against Volkanovski.

Oh Holloway def deseves it.  How many top guys has he fought since losing to Volk for the second time?  Two?  Without looking at Tapology, I can remember only two.  Kattar and Yair Rodriguez.  Kattar, a prospect which he looked really good against and Rodriguez who he had a tough fight against.

Edit:  It’s only two matches after Volk..  It felt like he had at least three.  Lol.

Only today I had some time to check out upcoming UFC event and I am more interested to watch co-main event Michael Chiesa vs Sean Brady.
Brady has perfect 14-0 record and he is favorite to win this fight, but anything can happen because Chiesa is a great fighter and he has slight reach advantage.
It is not easy to predict main event final outcome so it will be more like a coin flip for me this time.

^ Not so great of a card in my opinion but this is all that we had so anyway in my opinion
No big names, but we've been spoiled the last few weeks with big names, and good cards. This might be an entertaining card regardless of the lack of big name fighters. Though, we've got some banger cards coming up in the next few weeks, so I can definitely accept having a subpar night before then.

In the meantime, they should consider the offer if they see some profit in it for that's all that matters for them. I think the fight is not bad at all and it will gonna be a nice fight for both of them especially Chimaev. Why not?? this is how it should be for the fighters who want to be the number one fighter in his weight division, he won't give anyone doubt about him. unfortunately, their decisions won't matter until the UFC approved the fight.

Max Holloway vs Yair Rodriguez

This fight does end up in a decision but man it is a war, Yair Rodriguez really fought his way, and many in the books sure underestimated the guy, but shout out to Holloway for having a decent chin, he surely eats up many strikes, a Knee, an elbow, 1 to 2 combination of punches but Max Holloway just accepted all that strikes, this is what I see about Max Holloway his focus more on the offense and not in the defense, and from Yair Rodriguez leg kick he just ignores it or sometimes goes with the takedown or a combination, Max Holloway definitely got his momentum that he wants against Yair Rodriguez, It is really a war and these two just exchanges blows and their strikes, Yair surely come prepared but still, it is not good enough.

Cynthia Calvillo vs. Andrea Lee

It seems that Cynthia Calvillo is really tough and got accuracy landing her punches, and from that exchange of punching pace and both fighters bloodied their nose, then Cynthia Calvillo just went to the takedown when seen an opening, but Andrea Lee just got off from it until the 1st round ends, and now the 2nd round starter Andrea Lee just went berserk with the strikes, and Calvillo just started running around just wobbling and Lee just notices this and try to act and this fight has become a doctor stoppage from Cynthia Calvillo's Bloodied nose, so this sexy girl just got it with her.

Yeah Lee was surprising.  Her performance vs Calvillo was what I expected for her to do vs Modaferi but didn’t.  That’s why I thought Lee was a fade.  But she came out with a good TD defense which as unexpected cos I thought Calvillo has better wrestling than Modaferi...  Oh well.

The 1st round of Lee VS Calvillo was a war, in my opinion, giving their all and exchanging blows that seriously end up both bloodied, but I really didn't expect Andrea Lee to be good at her takedown defense maybe her training really paid off but unfortunately for her, Cynthia Calvillo isn't the type to sway her head not a defensive one in my opinion, and that corner stoppage was really unexpected, I was really shocked I though they will engage into the 3rd round Calvillo could not answer the bell that leads to a stoppage.

Oh shit, I am seriously out of touch with the UFC lately, I completely missed that Tate is coming back. I actually forgot she already had a fight in 2021 XD But her headlining a card in 2021...pfuuu, that seems like a hard sell. I mean, the card is not really a seller, so I get their problem with whom to put on as a headliner, but I kinda think people have forgotten about her and her legacy.

^  Lol no way Diaz is taking that match up.  I was not really too high on Chimaev last year but after wining vs Liang like it was nothing..  ~

I totally agree. I underestimated Chimaev myself, and bet on Li Jingliang after watching pre-fight interviews, but it appeared that Li was great at talking, but not so great at fighting. He was "not so great" fighting with Chimaev, but, of course, Jingliang is an amazing fighter otherwise. Back to that fight, it took less than 4 minutes for us to hear from the commentator, "It's over, folks!", when Chimaev won by putting Jingliang to sleep. But as of Diaz taking on the challenge, I think that's possible, even if he knows full well that he's gpoing to lose. As @TopTort777 pointed out, it will be the last fight in his contract, and fighting with such a star as Khamzat Chimaev is a good-looking way of ending your career.

^ Not so great of a card in my opinion but this is all that we had so anyway in my opinion I will just look for the CO-main fight because the main fight is a real deal so we are going to make picks maybe in a couple of days, but what I can say with the Co-main Michael Chiesa is taking on the undefeated Sean Brady, Michael Chiesa has 23 Matches with 18 wins and 5 losses, while Brady has 14 matches 14 wins 0 lost, my take Chiesa is a noteworthy fighter can really pull a submission but against a good grappler may still lose with it, while Sean Brady has a great takedown aswell, but we will see I am still gathering information with Sean Brady because he has debuted in the UFC on October 18, 2019, and another fight from the Prelim matches is Lupita Godinez a woman after her win on October 9, 2021, have taken a fight after 1 week against Luana Carolina and lost to it, but may look through her fight if he can pull another win.

I lost on Yair but what a fight that was! Even that 49-46 score from one judge looked like an injustice to the fight but I have no issue with the UD.

~ But, being the devil's advocate here, or whatever you want to call it, but seeing Max take so much damage time and time again just makes me wonder about his long-term health.
Not to mention the number of times he's been in five-rounder fights. He's probably four/five fights away before we start seeing more serious damage (career ending type of injuries). I hope he gets one last shot at the title before that happens.

Seems like it. I mean, there are always outliers that do not succumb to the toll of the fighting life, but those are few. Look at Ferguson. Sure, he wasn't the sanest person before, but now you can throw in the occasional domestic abuse and talk about hearing people in walls. And some of that has to come down to head damage.

Its a surprise how time flies, Nate Diaz was one of the best fighters in the UFC but there's a chance that his 1 last fight may be the end of his career in the UFC and there's speculation that the bare-knuckle fight championship could be his next option if the UFC.
Whatever it is Nate Diaz needs to step up his game if he's going to face Chimaev or Usman as the rumor says.

He just needs to fight one more time to finally conclude his career to fight in the UFC and live his life to the fullest unless he got some opportunities to be one of the trainers of the next UFC champion. It's been a long road for Nate and his batch has already been out of the league. maybe UFC will honor him as one of the Hall of fame when he finally steps down in the ring.

True. Nate Diaz wouldn't make it to 2nd round against Chimaev or Usman. The last fight of Diaz is just not going to convince anyone that he still has got it. Holloway is also slowing down or it's because Yair is quicker. It's just that Max can take Yair's jab like it's nothing.
No one can be king forever and bittraffic I also don't see him make it to 2nd round against the two especially Usman cause he's totally fit and break down walls.
I don't know the reason behind Nate Diaz's performance lately but someone like him who's 36years ought to perform well in the octagon. His fate relies upon the offer he'll get after his last fight.

Even if Yair Rodriguez took a two-year hiatus, he was able to last 5 rounds against Max Holloway. A warrior to be respected is Rodriquez. In the first round, Yair Rodriquez's low kicks were effective. Max Holloway scored well with the take downs he took in the 3rd and 4th rounds, and the experienced name won the match as expected.
There is no doubt about the resilient of both the fighters and Yair Rodriguez started really great with his leg kicks and it was taking a toll for Max Holloway and we are seeing great fights and now i want to see Max Holloway taking on Conor McGregor, even though it does not make any sense so that Max Holloway could take his revenge for his loss in the first fight.

Yair Rodriguez is really doing great, I think his way of style against Max Holloway is based on Holloway fighting Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Alexander Volkanovski that is why Yair Rodriguez is keeping up with Holloway, but the distance is really visible between the two, it might be because of Yair Rodriguez gap is not being active in for more than a year, but Max Holloway is sure gained much experience from his past fight so he sure has the upper hand, but both fighters are really amazing, Yair Rodriguez despite not being active had shown how great of a fighter he can be,

Well, Max Holloway vs Conor McGregor might not be possible he is in the top 1 right now in the featherweight Division and he might be eyeing another rematch against Alexander Volkanovski.
