Stipe has a tough chin but even the toughest chin couldn't handle that many strikes from Ngannou.
He might have absorbed more but the way Ngannou tackled the grappling made Miocic panic a little and he went for more boxing after that in round 2 which actually worked against him. I liked how Ngannou was ready to grapple and being the bigger buy, there was no way Miocic can get a takedown with improved defense from Ngannou.

Kudos to the new champ and his team. He stayed patient even after landing some serious shot early and taking Stipe's back. The (former) champ couldn't figure out Francis when he mixed up his attacks with leg kick, body shot, and high kick.
There was just too big a difference in terms of size, I think. If Miocic was able to drag the fight into the later rounds like 4th or even 5th then those big muscles of Francis would set fatigue into him and might have opened an opportunity for Miocic but he got greedy and went for exchanging punches early which we all know Ngannou is better at.

I like both the guys so I was confused about whom to cheer for, and although having a bet on Miocic, I was glad to see Ngannou win.

@eaLiTy. I do not trust Dana on dowplaying Jon Jones to fight Francis Ngannou. The skeptical me thinks this is the only superfight in his mind and he is beginning to look where he can put organize this in a full stadium hehe.

Also, Bones Jones is ready hehehehe.

JBJ looks like he put on some quality mass here. It reminds me of his powerlifting transformation from a couple of years ago (or a bit more). I think this time around he is again using strength training (powerlifting) to achieve mass, however, I am not sure how much of that mass can stay when he starts a training camp that naturally drains you and drops your weight. Maybe he will need a bit more time to gradually transition to HW.

^ Yeah, it's probably the only fight that I wanted to see happen.

~ my prediction is athat Jon Jones would not survive first round standing.
He can survive if utilizes his good reach and that patented eye poke Grin Seriously, he can't beat Francis trading punches but he's a crafty fighter. The guy is also strong coming from a family of athletes. He's got that dirty boxing in him and uses a lot of kicks too.

I'm a bit surprised that only a few members here in the forum are talking about Ngannou vs. Miocic fight after Ngannou's dominant win against him.
No surprise here if you look at how many active (and regular) posters are on this thread. I say less than 20. That's nothing compared to social media.

Ngannou looked so big and scary compared to Miocic and there was no question about his win but I sometimes wonder is he using some steroids Smiley
People will be scared to jump in cage with him and UFC Dana White will have a hard time finding fighters who will challenge him and my prediction is athat Jon Jones would not survive first round standing.
The fight against Jon Jones will be the biggest fight in MMA and like everyone i would love to see the match up between Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones and Dana White was downplaying and saying that after seeing the knockout Jon Jones will be debuting at Middle Weight and Jones was fast to respond in social media asking to show the money and he is ready to face him. I am hoping that they would reach an agreement and give the fans the show.

Stipe Miocic really couldn't handle any more damage from Francis Ngannou. He couldn't believe his eyes that he went down so fast in the second round. Undoubtedly Ngannou is formidable and really deserves the title of new UFC Heavyweight Champion. We hope to see another challenger soon.

I thought Stipe was prepared for Ngannou brute force since he already knew that Ngannou was improved dramatically compared on there first match. The match is very one-sided and I believe there will be no rematch since the challenger completely dominate the Champs. Stipe should go on lower division or else his career will be completely destroyed in Heavy Weight.

I am not sure where you are getting this, especially the part of him having to go to a lower division. This is not his first loss and this is not the first time he was dominated, and not even the first time he got knocked out. He had the same thing with the first DC fight and he got a rematch. Should he get an immediate rematch? Maybe not, but Francis was completely dominated in the first fight and he got the rematch so I am not seeing a problem here. As for being prepared, if you are referring to his gameplan, than I can agree that it was not a good one, but that is something to improve on if he continues to fight.

I guess it’s safe to say that Ngannou has really improved by a lot..?  Grin  I don’t think any heavy weight will be grabbing the belt away from him anytime soon.

And I kinda liked how O’Malley looked.  He reminded me of McGregor of old this event.  If he didn’t have such a chinny leg, he’d be unstoppable.

It would rather be a great example of timing and simple 1-2 combination instead of “best KO in UFC history”.
Congrat to Ngannou. I did not believe in him, but he managed to surprise me.

I remember Jon Jones saying he would like to advance to heavyweight and fight against champ. Well, welcome  Grin

It really happens so fast and he was struggling and cannot keep up with Ngannou in the second round and finally, he went down because the powerful kick hits him at his weak spot. That will be one of the best KO wins in the history of UFC. I think we are seeing this highlight for the next years to come.

I'm a bit surprised that only a few members here in the forum are talking about Ngannou vs. Miocic fight after Ngannou's dominant win against him. On my social media after the KO it was all about the buzz and how they felt sad that Miocic was definitely "bullied" in the ring all the memes about his fall will filled with comments about pity in this guy. I don't know why in the forum this fight didn't pick up any buzz maybe because Ngannou isn't really one of the popular heavyweight fighters out there even if he knocked the hell out of Overeem during his previous fight now the fans are requesting for Ngannou to face Jon Jones which I think if he win that bout he will definitely be the undisputed fighter in his weight class.

Tyron Woodley lost another fight, he started aggressively but he was caught flush throwing punches and his legs gave out and then Vicente Luque was able to choke him out. Abubakar Nurmagomedov won the fight and Sean O'Malley had a good fight as well.

DAMN Francis Ngannou knocks out Miocic
Tyron Woodley was always known to involve in boring fights but in this fight it was a good first round and Tyron Woodley did not fight safely and hence it was the fight of the night and Vicente Luque came out on top and this might be the last fight for Tyron Woodely in the UFC as this is the 4th consecutive loss.

@Bttzed03 exactly Stipe Miocic had a great chin in the first round and the moment Ngannou stuffed the take down it was over and Stipe Miocic rushed in even though he was hurt and you cannot take much from Francis Ngannou

Ngannou avoided the takedown and ended up controlling Moicic instead from the back. I thought the fight will end already in the first round while Ngannou is on top. when Ngannou landed the power left jab, Moicic's feet wobbled looks very dramatic the hammer fist wasn't necessary anymore he blackout.

so this is the end of Woodley right? felt bad for the guy, he tried his best. Bellator might have a place for him.

And that's all she wrote folks

Seems Francis did the better adjustments and rightfully came out on top in this fight. Time for Stipe to call it quits, nothing to prove anymore, he's done it all. Francis will definitely be on top for some time now, well, until he lands that EA UFC 5 game cover, then the curse kicks in...

Woodley unsurprisingly lost. But, at this point, no one really thinks he's a top contender, I think his rap album is what did him in. O'Malley is still looking good, and this is his 4th fight bonus in 5 fights, he's always entertaining to watch.

Tyron Woodley should win this fight if not he will be released as he is on a loosing streak and i might bet on Abubakar Nurmagomedov as he is from the same camp of Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The main event is here and i am not placing a bet but watching as a fan. If Francis Ngannou wins it will be a great journey and that is what UFC is looking forward as they can promote him as the scariest champion ever but Stipe Miocic is my favorite and i think he deserves more respect and promotion.
