It was a shocking ending, Cory Sandhagen did a fast KO to a vanguard that is Frankie Edgar, That Flying was very effective indeed mostly for a shorter opponent,
I did not expect a flying knee finish in the Frankie Edgar fight and Cory Sandhagen timed it really well,
I just finished watching the highlights and dang I lost count on how many times I replayed that part! That was all planned. His team knew exactly that Frankie would pressure him and close the distance. The height advantage made it easier to execute that move.

The sound when that knee hit that jaw  Shocked

edit: I wonder what Ben was thinking when he saw that fight  Huh

all fights are pretty intense and the unexpected ones had shown us great progress with the techniques and arsenal we could surely expect good quality fights it seems that all competitors are really giving their all in really preparing in every fight they face, and right now we could see an instant win like this in the future for veterans that are hard to knockdowns well, that flying knee could be a failure if he didn't execute it perfectly and Edgar really did not expect that to happen I may have lost the bet but still that was a pretty good fight in my opinion.

I sure thought it was going to be a bloody fight but Sandhagen knowing Edgar to be a tough one to crack resolves in taking out Edgar faster.

I think I would have liked Conor get a fight in with someone else before the rematch with Poirier. I know that Chandler has been quite vocal about fighting for a belt against Poirier, and honestly thought he might deserve it more. Conor, has been out a long time, and hasn't won in a long time now (simply because he's been doing other things). I know that Conor, and Khabib actually have been pushing their own fitness programs recently, so you'd expect Conor to keep on fighting if he didn't get this rematch right away, but then again Khabib is still doing it without the exposure of the UFC right now.

I'd still probably want Conor to win in the rematch, and we might see some better odds this time around making a punt worth it on him. If this does happen, then its the perfect time for Conor to show his commitment, despite many questioning it.
If this match will happen, it's bet odds will surely bigger for Conor since he doesn't manage to win for a while. I also hope that Conor is the one who can win this since I am always betting for him even if I know that he is in disadvantage. He has a lot of disadvantage since Proirer is much stronger when it comes to Grappling and Submissions since we know that Proirer is a strong jujitsu player and the only way for Conor to win is to focus on striking and defending against those two aspects. Now Proirer has a standing of 27-6 while conor has 22-5 and Proirer is the one who managed to add 1 defeat to Conor on round 2 exactly at 2 minutes and 32 seconds. Even if we say that Conor has a better striking power, Proirer managed to knockout Conor with just 1 knockdown.

Right ....my prediction is some will win tonight, and some will lose. I'm kidding obviously, but I really didn't know who to go with on a few of these fights. I've seen some discussion on this being a weak card, but these are usually the ones with the action packed in, and good pacing. Also, we've got some huge fight nights coming up in the next few months.

Here's my picks:

Jerome Rivera
Youssef Zalal (Points)
Molly McCann (Points)
Joselyne Edwards (Points)
Devonte Smith (Points)
Mike Rodriguez (Points)
Clay Guida v Michael Johnson (To go the distance)
Diego Ferreira
Alexandre Pantoja
Cory Sandhagen (Points)
Alexander Volkov (TKO)

I've been impressed by Joselyne Edwards, so have picked her purely through being entertained on a few of her fights. I've also picked Cory Sandhagen because I like the way he fights, but I'll admit that his opponent might be better than I'm giving credit for. Those are really the two that I would say are bias picks from me.

Dustin Poirier will entertain the trilogy with McGregor as he will be earning a hell lot of money than any of the fights and he is confident enough to defeat him once again, i am sure McGregor will be prepared enough to deal with the leg kicks but i am expecting Dustin Poirier to be careful in the first two rounds by taking him down and trying to make him tired and then starts punching him to oblivion  Cheesy.

Of course, if Conor allows him to spend a couple of rounds... Now, globally, everything will come down to a match between Conor and Khabib. I am sure that Conor will be able to win, but this is all done for a lot of money, and for everyone, in the upcoming rematch that everything is heading towards.

I said before that my pick for winner of main even is Alistair Overeem so I won't repeat that, but I will add that he will use grappling skills with wrestling and he will bring fight to the ground to win some rounds, but he will also use his striking skills.

Don't miss fight Alexandre Pantoja vs Manel Kape and Diego Ferreira vs. Beneil Dariush.
This is Kape first fight in UFC and he is coming from famous Japanese Rizin MMA organization and he is coming after big break and no official fights since 2019.

This are my picks:

Alistair Overeem (decision)
Cody Sandhagen
Michael Johnson
Alexandre Pantoja
Cody Stamann
Beneil Dariush

UFC Fight Night 184:  Official Weigh ins
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t--pjq3VrA

After weigh ins I'm changing my thought about the result of the fight between Overeem and Volkov  Grin Now I cant get rid of the picture in my head how Volkov TKO Overeem. I think people were right here, saying Overeem is old now. More experienced - yes, but old and got too many strikes to the head.

notblox1 says "Alistair Overeem wants to have shot for the title so he can retire after that" - Overeem is too old to be champ. We all remember that Randy Couture became champion at the age of 43, but at his tome, other athletes were different.

Let's put everything in one thread for continous discussion on news, updates, rumors and whatever in between events.  Doing each event per thread makes it hard and fragmented.

Cheers.  Smiley

Gonna update the post below for each event and go on as usual.

The fight of Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov will be a very thrilling fight since both of them has a good current standing. Alistair already has a 47-18-0 standing while Alexander has 32-8-0 standing. We can obviously see that Alexander has a better ratio of wins compare to losses but we cannot decide who wins because Alistair still has a better experience since he is much older. They are both from overweight so we cannot easily know who can win. Also this fight is also a main event so thrill will be much more inside the ring. The younger player Alexander is much taller than Alistair that can be a disadvantage because they have the same reach but the disadvantage of Alistair is he is much more heavier than Alexander that can cause him to be slow.

Maybe he should use the stool this time. It's going to be interesting seeing how he adapts his game and deals with those leg kicks which he's obviously going to be vary weary of. Is Poirier going to just keep kicking or try something else?

OK gentlemen, weigh-ins for UFC Overeem vs Volkov are over and we have confirmation for this fight card!
Alistair Overeem wants to have shot for the title so he can retire after that, and road for the title is through Alexander Volkov.
I am looking at odds and I can't believe how bookmakers made Volkov so heavy favorite in this fight, and we know he lost from Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis.
Overeem should not be underestimated and he is coming after two wins in 2020 against Sakai and Harris.
I am taking a risk here and going for Overeem win by decision.

It seems to be around the same price as Jack Daniels over here. As with any athletes they tend to retire fairly early so they're often out of work in their 30s so a smart one will diversify, especially one like as brandable as Conor as he's one of the biggest/most lucrative fighters in the world so it makes sense to promote other businesses whilst he has eyeballs on him and that way he'll continue to generate cash once he's out of the limelight or stepped away from fighting.

Conor well done what started to think about the future now. In our store it is more expensive than Jack Daniels, but he probably knows what he is doing, maybe he has good sales right now and there is no need to lower the price, now he is promoting his whiskey with his popularity.

Weigh ins start in an hour or so.  I might come back to post the live video here..  or I might not.  But my leans for the event are Overeem, Dariush and Guida.  I could just end up doing a parlay with them as I don’t have much BTC left with the books.  They’re all at the exchange.  Alt szn.  Lol.

Yeah, proper 12 is about the typical price for "consumer" whiskeys, and what I mean by that is the ones which are the most popular. Think Jack Daniels, Jim Bean, and all those other similar type whiskeys. As I don't typically drink these types of brands, I've just ignored Proper 12, just because I would expect the same type of tastes. I'd be interested in hearing off anyone on here who's actually tasted it, and isn't inflating their opinions on a review as there's definitely been mixed reviews on it.

Back to the UFC, I'll put up my predictions in the next day or so. As for Conor, I don't think he deserves Khabib, as it would be the the same old story, and I don't think Khabib is actually wanting to come out of retirement, and it was just Dana trying to get eyes on the last event. However, I think Conor should be fighting a top 5 fighter other than Poirier before getting his rematch.

Conor has claimed that he's been preparing for the Pac fight, and overlooked Poirier, but I'm not sure I entirely believe that. He must have known how dangerous Poirier was, and he knows that you have to keep fighting to be the best, something which he hasn't been doing recently. So, you would have expected him to train the best he could coming into this fight.

I personally would like to see Chandler vs Poirier, and Conor fighting another top 5. Then, the winner takes on the other for a belt. Although, that might be a little unfair, since Chandler is definitely putting his name out there for a  title shot.

I think it's the best fight for him now. Who else could he fight that he's got a chance with? Conor looked good in the first round, he just got shook in the second so I think I'd probably back him to win the rematch. It's a fight I think he can easily win just like the first match-up. Then he can go onto more exciting fights but he shouldn't be jumping the gun and going for fights like Khabib right now (not that Khabib would agree to fight him right now anyway). He needs to prove he can beat Poirier though. I don't think either of them deserve title shots right now especially not McGregor.

Nobody buys Proper 12 because it cost a lot. This blend cost as much as decent single malt, which quality is way greater than Proper 12. Proper 12 is like Jack Daniels, but cost 20-30% more. I like how our local retailers increase Proper 12 price every time Conor fight, and add a discount  Grin

But thanks to Conor, now everyone tried to produce something. Dana White - Howlers head, Poirier - sous for example, Khabib - mobile carrier "Eagle Mobile".

I have never tried Proper 12, mainly because of the bad reviews, and also because of the very high price. Yes, I also noticed how before the fight of Conor the price rises and they make a discount. ) Conor is a good showman but it's just as good that he thinks on the future  and producing a product that can support his future life. Only he would have to think about lowering the price, so that his whiskey would first become popular and everything is available and only after that raise the price a little. I think such a strategy would give a better result in sales.

I am frantic here for thinking that way, but in my perspective Edgar could win this, and if your saying that this could be a close fight as well, and I don't want to say that Edgar could easily defeated Sandhagen, but I think that this fight could be another bloodier fight or it could end up on the floor as well.
I will give an edge to Frankie Edgar depending how well he cuts to the 135 pound division, it is his perfect weight class but he fought all of his life in higher weight divisions and now trying his chances in a lower weight category which is not always easy to cut weight when age is against you and Cory Sandhagen is a good prospect and it is a good challenge and a win here could get him a title shot.

Looks like the Poirier trilogy fight is definitely in the works:

Quote
BEST OF THREE Conor McGregor ‘buzzing’ for Dustin Poirier trilogy ‘for all the marbles’ as American confirms it’s in the pipeline

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/13942303/conor-mcgregor-dustin-poirier-rematch-ufc/

Makes sense for everyone involved really especially if both fighters want it. It's going to be red panty night for Poirier for sure. I'm not sure who I'd pick in a rematch. Conor needs to get the job done though to get back on track. Losing again is going to put him back by quite a bit.

Quote
McGregor has tonight uploaded a lengthy caption on Instagram where he all-but confirms the two warriors will go at it for a third time for 'all the marbles'.

And the triumphant Poirier appeared to confirm it too, as he tweeted shortly after: "You know we are going to do it a third time."

Alongside a highlights video from the fight, former two-weight world champ McGregor wrote: "What a trilogy I now have on my hands. Exciting!

"With a handle on the leg kicks I will get back to having fun in there. I was in second gear cruising this fight. Best condition I’ve ever been in.

"After the wrestling and clinch exchanges my shots still held their pop. First time for me with this so I am very encouraged to keep going.

"It was the first time I did not use/nor need the stool between rounds also. I did need the stool after though that’s for sure.

"I am extremely happy I did not need to use the stool between rounds here anyway. Another first for me!

Maybe he should use the stool this time. It's going to be interesting seeing how he adapts his game and deals with those leg kicks which he's obviously going to be vary weary of. Is Poirier going to just keep kicking or try something else?

However, similar to show business, if the movie will not make the projected profit, it might not be produced hehe. Who would like to watch this? The timing would be wrong. Also, a fight vs. Nate Diaz and win might also not save Conor from his situation. He can short cut out of the situation by fighting Justin Gaethje and win, however hehehe.
