Well, I think everyone has gotten used to staying at home and reading/hearing cancelled UFC events by now. So I guess one more month of waiting for the fight island won't be that long  Grin Dana should start sharing some more info about this fight island to keep everyone hooked.

UFC 249 is apparently back on for 9th of May:

Quote
UFC 249 headlined by Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje to take place in Florida

https://metro.co.uk/2020/04/22/ufc-fight-tony-ferguson-justin-gaethje-mma-florida-12591979/

I really doubt this will happen, though apparently Florida more relaxed coronavirus lockdown and they allowed the WWE to compete their last month.

I think it would be better to forget about fights in the US for the time being and concentrate on the mysterious 'Fight Island' which I'm much more interested in seeing... well just as long as there's a decent fight on the card and not a bunch of nobodies.

I don't know maybe once all the health checks have been carried out and the athletes who are healthy results, matchs could still be played without public but perhaps by increasing the cost for the pay tv, as they already do in wrestling events without audiences ...

If these UFC fights ever get done during the pandemic they'll probably just end up being be shit, cobbled together fights from nobodies who are desperate just to get some attention and boost their popularity. If the card doesn't have at least one big fight on it I think it will kill a lot of the buzz. Does anyone really want to see some d-list UFC fighters on Fight Island? Doubt it. I think they need at least one of the  McGregor/Khabib level fighters, hopefully both together or at least one of them fighting someone substantial. One of the big fighters on the Fight Island would be epic.

I would agree with you.
Even some of the top mma fighters would not get into fights with clear head,
and they would probably have some fear of contact and virus in the back of their mind.

Bad news guys! Nuñez is out on May title bout against Spencer Sad. She said that she is not well prepared due to the pandemic. Nonetheless, she make sure that she maintain her body in great shape so we should not worry. However, what a loss for UFC 250 event.

Not only that but the next two events are cancelled:

Mmmm I think Jones lost some of his mojo just by looking at his last couple of fights.  He's not the Jon Jones we know anymore.

And right now, I'm a lot more excited to see Adesanya fight guys like Costa and Till.

Yeah.
I would still like to see him fight and Israel Adesanya might not be the best opponent for him now.
They are not even in same weight category at the moment, but it would be fun fight for sure.
First thing first... current world situation needs to change.

I think it's fair to say that Jon Jones changed some of his fighting style because he's aging. It's the same with other champs who manage to defend their belt for a very long time. You no longer see their explosiveness in the octagon like what we used to see. I think GSP is also a good example of this. I remember him being criticized for not finishing his opponents later in his career. He was even being booed before he retired (right after his fight with Hendricks).
Georges St Pierre was a wrestling based fighter and if you are not interested in ground fighting then you will be bored to death as GSP was never a one punch knockout fighter and that is the similar case with Jon Jones as he never finished anyone with power but accumulation of strikes and take downs, it is difficult to be at the top of division for a long time and Jon Jones, GSP, Aldo were special fighters who could dominate for a long time.

As for Adesanya, I'm not sure if he really wants to fight Jones while he's still dominating. He only had one title defense and it was quite disappointing too.

Isreael Adesanya vs Jon Jones would be interesting to see for sure Smiley
Isreael Adesanya is not a serious contender for Jon Jones because of the size difference but it will be an interesting fight.
[/quote]

I’ve nearly forgotten about ufc with all that lockdown and missing recent news. This is not the first time I see names Adesanya and Jones together in last days. Are they going to fight? Crazy, they have 10kg difference. There is no way Adesanya could possible do anything to Jones.

Now Jon Jones is again doing some stupid things.
I seriously think that he is having Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) issues after watching the police body cam video with his frequent behavior of getting into trouble all the time and the way in which he was speaking to the police officers that he does not remember things as his memory is really weak and since he started fighting at an young age and had many wars inside the cage i really think he is having serious health issues and more over his drinking problems.

We all remember his recent arrest, then he made some bad statements regarding Anthony Smith fight with home intruder.
Jon Jones did not say anything bad about Smith, the consoled for his bravery in twitter and then he said if Jon was in that position the intruder will not walk out of his home and that did not sit well with Smith.

No wonder so many people don't like him.

Interesting thing is that radio MMA Junkie Radio is doing simulated UFC event on on SportsCastr
There will be live streaming.
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson – lightweight title
Champ Henry Cejudo vs. Demetrious Johnson – bantamweight title
And there are also 5 more matches.
Unfortunately, it's only a match simulation and we need to see the real match scheduled for yesterday. Many wrestling matches are still running even without spectators, but we must respect the two camps fighting for their consideration to postpone the match.

What was said during Friday's Dana White coronavirus pandemic call with UFC fighters

According to sources, White took time to hear from his athletes in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic for approximately 25 minutes. After an initial statement, White opened up the floor for written questions.

Honestly, I'm more interested on the co-main events than the Ferguson vs Gaethje fight. Because the hype of the match already lose plus the disappointment I felt of cancelled Khabib fight  Undecided. Nonetheless, I'm so excited to see how Cejudo and Nunes dominate their opponents again lol Grin.
There was no hype lost in Ferguson vs Gaethje because the fight was cancelled almost immediately after it was announced  Grin

I haven't heard about Dominic Cruz since his loss to Cody Garbrandt. Talk about being lucky to step in and face Cejudo for the bantamweight title because Jose Aldo is out since his Visa expired.

Nunes has destroyed every legendary figures in women MMA (Rousy, Cyborg, and some others). No disrespect to Spencer but I don't see Nunes dominance ending soon.

Dana White is an amazing and determined man. If he is lucky he is planning his next event on May 9th. It is understandable it is a sport that generates a lot of money but the situation in the USA is critical. The USA became the first country with more positive cases for Covid19. Let's see what happens.
WOW that's a big news. Does anyone know what will be the fight card? And where the event will take place?

He's apparently trying to get Justin Gaethje to fight Ferguson but there is no details known other than that. He's probably keeping most stuff secret for obvious reasons. I'm sure he'll take whatever fights he can get but it'll probably include fighters from the scrapped UFC 249. This is just something Dana is trying to get done much like the last fight and I would be very surprised if it happens at all, but props to Dana for trying at least.
Ok I see...  Roll Eyes Thanks for the clarifications anyway.

I reckon it might not work similar to smallpox vaccines. The coronavirus is similar to the flu virus. Flu vaccinations are given to people, however, why are some of those people again infected by the flu? There might be more strains mutating.

I agree.
Only thing they can give them is that anti-malaria tablets in combination with antibiotics.

Imagine that training with antivirus gear with gloves and mask.

Half of the world is still going about their business. If people can get on public transport and go to work in buildings with hundreds of people then I'm sure they UFC fighters will be fine.

UFC betting is back in the game as it looks like May 9th event is very interesting for prediction.
Odds are still in favor of answer NO, but people can bet both ways.
