Probably what's going to happen is they are going to have mass testing, Test everyone that is going to be allowed in the Island surely only negative are just going to be allowed in the Island.

Thinking about it if only uninfected people are allowed in the Island this idea might work since it was just like a quarantine thing in a Island. The problem is their might be some VIP since UFC somehow involves money a lot so we can't really make sure if everybody is not positive to the virus. But if rules are followed for sure the Island thing is going to work.
The fact remains that we does not have any idea about the virus as new development is coming out on a daily basis, so event with every individual in the fantasy island is tested you cannot be sure that the virus stays in someone's body well below the identification standard market and then reproduce during his stay in the island and then anyone who comes into contact with him will be infected. If they are really planning to conduct the fight, they need to test everyone in a period of two to three weeks and make sure they are fine and then you can confirm that they are clean, other than that long period of testing and monitoring you cannot be sure whether he is infected or not.

Yeah! I also think that using a private island as a venue for the UFC fights could work. However, even how hard they impose safety measures, the risk are still there simply because of the fact that the virus is not yet eradicated by mankind and can't be seen. Plus, the infected person do not show early symptoms so easily making it more threatening.

Well, you are right on the part of conducting a mass testing for people (must have no exemptions) who will go there but they should do it days/week before the event to avoid any problem. Furthermore, they should also disinfect the ship and everything which does not originally came from the island because it may carry the virsu as well.

Hmm, I smell more expenses are coming for Dana assuming he pursue this on future fights lol Grin.

Btw, private island wont save them from being infected with the virus.

Recently about 100 of french marines got infected. Their flagship visited port only for 1 day to reload good/food. None of the marines got contact with someone from land (everything was delivered to port, later sailors just brought-in the cargo). In few days about 100 marines got confirmed covid-19....
This is scary as i thought it would be safe as we mariners are not in contact with anyone outside and right now my ship is anchored near a port and these sort of news really scares me. No plans of signing off now because the country is under lockdown and i embarked last month thinking everything will be fine in a few months Undecided.

Interesting article explaining why delayed fight Ferguson vs Khabib may be a good thing.
Looks like things can be going good and in Conor McGregor advantage.

Dana White to begin shipping fighters to Fight Island — ‘I’ll see you in a month’

“I’m telling all my guys not to worry because ‘Fight Island’ is going to happen,” White told ESPN. “All the infrastructure is being built right now and getting put in place. As we get closer to that, then I’ll start figuring out booking fights, getting guys ready, plus I can ship guys over there earlier and they can start training over there on the island.”

They should make a reality show out of it. Or just drop them off at the island and see if they can survive... or let them fight to the death  Grin.

So there will be no postponed that will happen, Mr. Dana White will continue to build the infrastructure to successfully launch the fight. Anyway UFC is not just a sport, it is a big business where it can generate wealth specially for those people who have huge amount of money. I do not know if Dana White will announce the location of the fight island or he will keep it secret so there will be no intervention that will happen.

You are so damn right. I'm wondering how much that is going to cost to build everything on an fight island and to move all the fighters there as the flights are cancelled. Using private jet and then disinfect it? Imagine that there are fighters who hate each other and cant be on the same flight together Smiley

And imagine how exclusive this tournament gonna be and how much tickets gonna cost and what precautionary measures gonna be made. Crazy!

It being on a private island isn't really any different than it being in a venue with fighters who don't like each other. As for the infrastructure, all it might need is a ring built and obviously some sort of way to beam the transmission around the world but that will be the same as any venue.

For instance, check out Richard Branson's Necker Island:

All you would need is to build a ring and have some way to transmit the feed. I'm guessing it already has a decent internet connection but it'll probably need some sort of TV transmitter as I don't know how reliable the internet would be or how much they rely on it to broadcast regular events around the world.

Can anyone guess what remote islands are Dana White and UFC working on for next events in future?
It must be some islands near United States that don't have so strict rules regarding covid.

Tachi Palace Casino Resort in California where UFC 249 is supposed to be held is in a private island?
Only UFC 249 was postponed and not the events on the yet to be disclosed Fight Island on May.
Yes the Tachi palace resort is located in tribal land especially the native Indian Community and hence the Californian authorities does not have any authority in normal circumstances nor the state athletic commission has any authority if the event was to take place and with these special privileges Dana White thought he could carry on with the event as the authorities could not stop them but during special situations like a pandemic the authorities will pull the strings or else they will face consequences in the future and hence they had to pull out of the event.

Very full of obstacles if forced to carry out fighting in the fight island, I also have a crazy idea and it is better to hold a match on a top-class ship with a limited number of passengers. Of course, it will be a unique and unforgettable experience.

certainly at an organizational level is an impressive and worrying thing, how to organize the transport of athletes safely since there is a high risk of contagion, would it not have been better to postpone?...

Meanwhile, what a devastating news for Rose Namajunas. Her 2 people on her family died because of Covid 19. My condolences for her Sad. SOURCE: https://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/29017786/rose-namajunas-ufc-249-exit-due-covid-19-deaths-family
This explains why she pulled out of UFC 249 even before it was cancelled.

~
I'm not sure it will be very easy to hold events on a private island if flights are banned...
Dana plans to hold the event sometime in May. Things could have settled down to allow flights and other public transportation by then.

~
So the government intervened to cancel the event even though you have private island and no jurisdiction the authorities will always find a way to shut things. I think if the Fertitta brothers were still owning the company they might find a solution.

Well it's the california governor himself who called Disney officials to ask them to stop it according to the NY Times.
And a california senator has also made a public statement to disapprove it.

Conducting the fight was not easy but they would have taken the fighters with the help of private jets, Dana White was not willing to disclose the place of the event was because he knew that the authorities will try to shut it down and now once the destination was revealed that happened.
Of course they will not disclose the island where will they operate because it might be shutdown by the government. I know it is really dumb idea to continue the match when there is still crisis in our economy but we all know that there is a fight because of the huge money. Dana White may postponed the match but it is like that he will continue it in just short time of period because he is a capitalists and he know that there are opportunity to earn money if he will continue the matches.

I told you I can't see this fight happening. It looks like it was pressure from ESPN/Disney execs for calling it off. He should just do this Fight Island thing himself if ESPN doesn't want in and stream it direct on the UFC fight pass. I'm sure that would be huge business for him. I could see a special fight like that attracting some big names as it will be the first of it's kind if it goes ahead.

I don't think he'll do anything without ESPN's 'ok'.  That would be a bad business move on his part.  The best move would be not to move.  Just stay put until all the bs is over.  We could see a flattening of the curve in a couple of weeks or so.

I hope...  Lol.

Edit:  If he does go for it...  Will the event be a sanctioned event?
