For now, Dominick Reyes wanted an immediate rematch. It is very possible as it seems Dana likes him. But I can feel that Jon Jones will win in a rematch. That dirty champ will train harder. He's got the experience and is actually not that old.

Usually the UFC does not grand a rematch like that and if that was the case the fight against Alexander Gustafsson was also really close with opinions that Alexander Gustafsson won the fight but that rematch took 5 years and when that was done Jon Jones shut him down, Dominick Reyes was gassed out completely in the final two rounds and i am not expecting an immediate rematch as the winner of Corey Anderson and Jan Błachowicz might get the title shot against Jones.

I’ll agree with your analysis @7788bitcoin and I too don’t expect their rematch happening anytime soon, but at the same time I hope we don’t have to wait another five years to see their rematch. It’s also pertinent to note that Jones has given his consent for a rematch, but there’s no clarity yet when their rematch will take place.

~ We saw a tired JJ that could get KO'ed from Reyes in any moment, we saw him that he is no longer in his prime for years now ~
No one can argue that he is not past his prime but tired and KO'ed at any moment? Come on now. Did you see how Reyes punches slowed down and was just swinging in the later rounds? Did you see how many times Jones just kept moving forward after getting hit?

~ Maybe the consistent pressure he gave (like what joe rogan said)? If that's the case then do you really believe it weighs greater than Reyes' tons of sharp punches he threw? You decide. But for me, nah I don't think so.
Part of the judging criteria was cage control and I don't remember one criteria having more weight than the other.

Although scoring is done round by round in the UFC, Reyes really fell short in rounds four and five. They call them championship rounds for a reason.

When all the emotions are gone, we should probably watch the fight again and without all the commentaries.
I watched the replay 2x (with commentaries) and round two, for me, was really won by Jones and the fourth and fifth.

Or least give Dom a shot at Jones again, unless Jones avoid it by going up to heavyweight.
Hahaha I think that would be a worse decision for him. Even if it would be his last resort in order to avoid facing Reyes, then he should not go up to HW division (if he is wise enough). Why? Because that's a whole different thing. That's the place of "one shot, one kill" and I doubt he can survive it; even thinking his "eye poking technique" will not work out as well Grin.

Much better if he will just face Reyes once again and prove to us that he really deserve the belt he is wearing for a long time.

Terrible judges!
They ruined several matches including main event.
In my account Reyes won or it was atleast a draw.

I reckon Jon Jones now has lost 2 fights in a row hehehe. Also, agreed! This is very embarassing for the sport.

What the f**k did these judges are watching?

I know it was a close one, but majority saw Dom winning the fight, I mean it was a clear day robbery to be honest. I think UFC should seriously look at this judges. Or least give Dom a shot at Jones again, unless Jones avoid it by going up to heavyweight.

one judge (Joe Solis) scored the bout 4 to 1 to Jon Jones which is crazy.
Whether he was paid to give that bullsh*t 4-1 decision or not, he must be banned because he is obviously biased.

Of course, a robbery could save him once again lol. But kidding aside, I think there's one thing Reyes could do to win and that is knocking out Jones at all cost since we already saw that this fight can't be done in a decision Roll Eyes.

Reyes was robbed obv!  Poor kid...  He worked so hard.
Indeed, Even DC and other UFC fighters thought Reyes should win. I don't really know what the judges saw on Jones' performance which make them decide in favor on him. Maybe the consistent pressure he gave (like what joe rogan said)? If that's the case then do you really believe it weighs greater than Reyes' tons of sharp punches he threw? You decide. But for me, nah I don't think so.
The judging was poor without a doubt and after the fight i really thought i lost my bet as Dominick Reyes had more significant strikes in the first three rounds than Jon Jones even though he was controlling the center of cage but in the last two rounds Jon Jones dominated the significant strikes and taken him down in the 4th and 5th round but he was not able to control Dominick Reyes on the ground either but the judges saw another fight and so is the reason Jon Jones retained the belt Cheesy. one judge (Joe Solis) scored the bout 4 to 1 to Jon Jones which is crazy.

Of all the personalities on tv, DC's opinion will matter last as he is an arch enemy of Jon Jones. But yeah, all people I heard said Dominick Reyes was robbed. These people are of course mma fanatics and not just luring casuals. That 49-46 score was a disgrace and that person should be banned or suspended from judging mma fights again.

For now, Dominick Reyes wanted an immediate rematch. It is very possible as it seems Dana likes him. But I can feel that Jon Jones will win in a rematch. That dirty champ will train harder. He's got the experience and is actually not that old.

Personally after watching JJ vs Reyes I think Reyes kinda deserve to win because he put that pressure 2 rounds and win another on at limit so that make 3 rounds for him and only 2 for JJ. We saw a tired JJ that could get KO'ed from Reyes in any moment, we saw him that he is no longer in his prime for years now and I think this might have been his last victory but what a record he did , breaking it from the legendary Saint-Pierre. For this great record I will admire JJ forever.

The only issue about the main event was the 4-1 round for Jones in one of Judge's scorecard but it's pointless to argue about that now.

Here are the key things I think that made the difference:
  • Jones was prepared for five rounds - that's easy to see since he looks fresher in rounds 4 & 5 and had the crispier hits.
  • Reyes was prepared for three rounds - You can easily see that on how he pushed it in the first 3 rounds. He wasted a lot of energy especially in round 2 when he chased Jones and missed a lot of punches. Jones just dodged and wiggled.
  • Jones controlling the center the ring most of the fight - I personally wasn't expecting that. I thought he'll be the one circling around most of the time. That I think is another strategy for Jones to conserve energy and to tire out Reyes faster.

I agree on the part that the fight was very close, but knowing that Reyes lose is what I did not expect. How come that Jones still won? For me the first 3 rounds is definitely for Reyes while the remaining two is for Jones. However, that two rounds for Jones are not very solid. He attempted take downs but Reyes able to stop so for me it's not a significant pount for him to win. And the decision was still Unanimous and not at least a Split? That makes me more believe that Reyes was robbed in this fight Sad.

I think rounds 2, 4, and 5 was for Jones.
In close fights like this, the defending champ usually gets the nod.
The fight was really close and i thought it will be another split decision victory but the judges gave two close rounds and one judge gave a dominating round for Jon Jones but the last two rounds Jon Jones was clearly dominating as Dominick Reyes clearly gassed out and his punches were telegraph and his take down defense was great, if he fights like this against heavyweight then Jon Jones might get knocked out.

I'm seeing the opposite. I think the strategy of team Jones will be to outpoint Reyes for at least three out of five rounds. It's difficult to see Jones knocking out Reyes given how good the challenger is with his striking and counter-punching.
Good assessment (and your previous comments). Jones indeed tire his opponent out the entire match. Reyes pressed but couldn't keep the fast pace attacks/combos for the entire fight and Jones, being the more experienced and athletic fighter, capitalized in the later rounds. I thought Jones was done after that nasty body shot in the early round.

That was a really close fight and Dominick Reyes took the fight to Jon Jones and i thought it is going to be an upset going to the judges to make the decision as i scored the first three rounds for Dominick Reyes but the fourth and fifth rounds were completely dominated by Jon Jones and the judges gave the decision to Jon Jones, really tough fight and i want to see a rematch, Jon Jones struggled to take Dominick Reyes down and it was an impressive fight.

Judging in this fight card was terrible as they were blunders in the fight card.

Silly odds for Jon Jones win.
Sure Jones can win, but I will not bet on him, and I like the style of Reyes, so I will just enjoy this one.

My prediction for UFC 247

Jon Jones vs Dominick Reyes : Jon Jones and over 2.5 rounds
Valentina Shevchenko vs Katlyn Chookagian: Valentina Shevchenko
Derrick Lewis vs Ilir Latifi : Derrick Lewis

I am going for a parlay for these fights and even though the odds are not that great it is a fun fight and i am not expecting any surprises. The only doubt is the height difference of Derrick Lewis and Ilir Latifi and whether Derrick will struggle to land a punch because he will be able to avoid those heavy blows but i highly doubt Ilir Latifi could cover this much distance and land a knockout punch simply because of the size and height difference.
