Block halving is coming.
we try install firmware for avalon 920p on raspberry pi 3 model B+ but not work good . must on model B only .
i hope found firmware support model B+
If you already check the download.canaan-creative.com and no for model b+ it means they don't support this raspberry model I suggest look to someone who has raspberry pi 3 model b and make a deal to swap yours to his Raspi or buy rpi 2 model b which is a bit cheaper rasp3 model b.

At this point, I don't think that Canaan is going to develope new firmwares for the 9 series.

be constructive or S.T.F.U
i got into the controller

but how does the controller talk to the pool?

Go to "Cgminer Configuration" tab and then fill in these three fields

Code:
Pool 1
Pool 1 worker
Pool 1 password

Pool will be URL link that you get from the pool you sign up to, the worker is something you set on the pool's account, and the password is usually x unless specified by your pool

if you have more than one control board/miner you can use worker.worker

An example, let's say your worker name on the pool's website is deusopus

miner 1 can be deusopus.miner1 , miner 2 can be deusopus.miner2

Choose a pool, and configure it to the controller by following my A821 guide (you can find it below in my signature space).

sorry i don't understand.

can you be more specific?

It's a setting of your PC under your network where you can able to change IP, subnet mask, default gateway, and also DNS.

If you still can't get it check this image below where you can edit it.

Change the PC IP to 192.168.0.24 and mask 255.255.255.0 then save

Or follow this youtube guide below

@deusopus
Is your pc in the same subnet?

Maybe you can manually set your pc ip to a free ip in that subet, e.g. 10.3.0.10 to reach the avalon.

Thanks Kano, will give it a shot.

I had tried low power before and was hoping to lower it a bit more.
I'll try it with the fan setting and see.

Thanks again

I run an A851 so not sure if it has exactly the same options, but from reading towards the end of the early A8 thread here:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/avalon-8-official-specs-released-2616205
it would appear they have the same settings.

On the A851 I only changed the 2 bottom settings of the settings page:

Power Mode(Default: HighPerformance, Support: A8)       "Low Power"
More Options:      --avalon8-fan 10-42

I've run this all through summer and now autumn for the last 5 months, and the 42 fan limit still allowed the miner to run without failing or over heating.
However, I did turn it off on 3 or 4 occasions over the 3 months of summer, when the room temperature got close to 40C

Anyway, the A851 result is around 9TH for around 900W

The fan limit of 10-42 means it's relatively quiet compared to any other miner.

What would be the best summer "more setting" for an 821, trying to down clock it?
Have not been able to get the 821 to work like the 741's
I have the 741 set with these settings:
--avalon7-voltage-level 8 --avalon7-freq 524 --avalon7-fan 10-40 <-- getting 5-6TH which on ok with

I would like to have something similar for the 821 if possible.

Thanks

Always only use software direct from Canaan. https://github.com/Canaan-Creative/avalon7-docs/wiki/AvalonMiner-741-firmware-downloads
Software images from random individual users *may* be infected with malware. How to setup is here https://support.blokforge.com/kb/article/18-how-do-i-connect-an-7-8-9-series-avalonminer-and-avalonminer-controller/

There is no 'other' firmware/software available for the Avalons. The simple reason is because there is zero need for it. Avalons are eminently tweakable using their More Options box on the configuration page. You should start reading at the start of this thread as any questions you might have about setting them up and tweaks are most likely already answered here.

Did you already replace the PMU board or why are we back analyzing the log ?

This is another miner, the first problem was solved.

Thanks
