Kane is out until  rest of the season

That's indeed a big blow for them, At the time of the season where he's expertise will be needed the most. Although, I'm expecting Man City to the tie over and qualify for the semi finals, but I do believe Kane will be needed for Tottenham's bid for a top four finish this season.

I think it is really shocking how this champions league leg ended, sportsbooks must be super excited about it. First tottenham beat City which was totally unexpected (without Kane I doubt they can keep up and will eventually get knocked out) and now Ajax getting a tie from Juventus which is again incredibly unexpected. I mean looking at the scores I bet there was millions even maybe billions of dollars lost from gamblers all around the world thanks to this leg.

If the second leg gets even weirder and somehow teams that didn't suppose to win (according to the odds at least) move than the outrights will get destroyed as well, plenty of people bet on City and Juventus to win it all as well, if they somehow fail to even go beyond this they will lose those bets too. I think the second leg will have no surprises but we have to wait and see.

Yes, indeed there were many surprises in the first leg, but it was common because the team entering this stage was a strong team
I'm pretty sure there will be another surprise in the second leg especially in the match Juventus vs ajax

Kane is out until  rest of the season
it is official bad luck for Spurs
Personally my dream final was Juve-Ajax
Now Ajax-Barca  Ajax win 4-3

I was interested in how Kane's absence was going to affect Spur's odds going forward, and weirdly Tottenham have a higher win percentage when Kane isn't playing (although the sample size is much smaller):

With Kane:

- 39 Games
- 61.5% win percentage
- 1.9 average goals scored

Without Kane:

- 8 Games
- 66.7% win percentage
- 1.9 goals scored

(Stats from this article)

So weirdly they tend to score the same amount whether Kane is there or not, and actually his absence might not affect the team as much as I first thought. Maybe because it gives Son more freedom to roam?

Ronnie @ Cloudbet

I think other players take more responsibility & maybe work harder on the pitch without Kane.
Son is a very good player & he doesn’t start a lot when Kane does.

By the way, is anyone noticing that we are not seeing many goals in this round like the last round?
There are fewer teams but the first leg of the RO16 had less goals (18) than the 2nd leg (34). We'll probably see more goals next week.

I do notice this in several occasions in other leagues too. I too expecting more goals in the 2nd leg and I am thinking to place few bets of over/under goals.

In the last round we seen over 2.5 goals in all matches I think.

I think Tottenham will struggle on the reverse fixture, especially with Captain Kane out now. I would rather them win but I think City will be too strong at home. Interestingly enough they'll both be playing each other a few days later in the Premier League. That will be a very interesting game as one team will surely want retribution for being knocked out whatever happens.

And both fixtures are at home.  So at least City got that going for them...  It's gonna take a whole lot from it's players and the staff to win the league imo, since there's the FA Cup final and they're still in the CL.

No offense to Liverpool fans, but them winning the league kinda feels like it's gonna fall on their lap cos of City's fixtures.

City definitely have the easiest of fixtures but Liverpool are still a game in front and can't afford to slip up. It's probably going to come down to whoever loses one game now and it'll probably be all over for them if they do.

Ajax will be without Tagliafico on the left wing for the return leg. He got a yellow card and is suspended for the 2nd match. Lasse Schone limped off because of an injury, I don't know how serious that is. Ajax is also still fighting with PSV for the league title so they can't afford to play badly in the league meaning they have to filed a strong lineup during the weekend. Juventus on the other hand has an 18 points advantage in the league and will be playing SPAL. At least 7 starters will be rested during that match and that could end up being the advantage the Juve needs to qualify for the next round.

I think it would be very unwise of Juve to sit back and think they've got this in the bag. Ajax could be the dark horse of the tournament. They turned over Real Madrid away and I think RM seriously underestimated them having a 2-1 advantage from the first leg and two away goals and it cost them in the end. Real Madrid might not be the team they were the last few tournaments but all they were really missing was Ronaldo and Zidane. I think Real probably will win at home but they certainly should'nt take their foot off the gas and assume this will be a walk-over.

I might be wrong, but I have feeling Ajax will qualify at the expense of Juventus, while Barcelona will also advance to the next stage.
Man City will overturn the 1 nil loss at the first leg too, and will face Ajax in the semi finals.

My predictions of teams to qualify.
Ajax
Barcelona
Liverpool
Man City

I like Ajax's football and I think that they deserve to pass through the semi-finals but I would be sad to see Ronaldo kicked out.
The reason for wanting Juve at the semi-finals is to expect a draw of Barca- Juve and a clash of Ronaldo - Messi again. It will be an amazing series of matches to see and I think that we will see great performances for both guys.

Barca can’t meet Juve until a potential final.

The semi final is as follows -

Ajax/Juve vs City/Spurs
Barca/Man U vs Liverpool/Porto

Ajax played well last night.A team of youngsters but I think experience does matter a lot in UCL.So, I still believe in Ronlado, he can take Juventus to Semi final. And I agree that, Barcelona will qualify for the semi. But I still have doubt on Man City, they played bad against Spurs on first leg.Second leg is thier last chance, let's see What happens!

Experience indeed does matter a lot, but you don't think Real Madrid or Bayern Munich have the same experience as Juventus in the champions league if not more, do you ? Ajax have outplayed both these teams, I'm definitely not going to be surprised if they make it through as I find it even more probable.

I don't think they played their best 11 yesterday. I believe they'll go through.

I like that.
If Ajax quality then this will be a big upset for Juventus. The way they (Ajax) played last night they may get it if the skill and luck favours them. But I tell you what, no matter who come against Liverpool, they will overcome it. I see a good team spirit in LFC team.

I watched Man Utd vs Barca last night. As a Liverpool fan with my team possibly having one foot in the semi final neither Man Utd or Barca worry me as a potential semi final opponent.

That Barca team is nowhere near as good as their past teams. They left loads of space & United were able to attack them. They won’t get away with it against Mane, Salah & Firmino.

They won’t cope with our press either, they take risks passing the ball around at the back.
After Barca scoted goal, they gave posession and initiative to United and just focused on saving score. It's pragmatic football of Valverde. Maybe they aren't scoring 3-4 goals like it was under Guardiola or Enrique. Yesterday Barca didn't played perfectly, but they didn't let United to create anything dangerous. They are playing different football. Minimal win on away match is good result while playing careful football without risking too much. We will see different Barca at Camp Nou.

No big surprises in this round apart Man City failure! which I believe will make the players show their best performance and maybe will crush Tottenham next time?
I don't see Man City crush any team either Barcelona or Tottenham because they seems to be less concern due to their performance lately because what people believed is they are not focus on the Tottenham but Barcelona game which they literally loose both.

Liverpool will have a relatively easy game, same goes for Barcelona in a lesser degree but the interesting game will be between Juventus and Ajax in my opinion  Smiley
I won't say any of the above team game will be relatively easy because the UEFA Champion league 2nd leg of the quarter and the semis are always tough especially when the visiting have already lost at their home.

everything can still happen, even psg who is ahead of winning 2 away goals is still able to be beat by man.united in Paris, and at Camp Nou, the spirit of Man.united is still the same.
Of course anything can happen in the game of football but the PSG match is quite different to the Ajax and Manchester Utd match because PSG will be home while Ajax/Man Utd will be away and the possibility for the home team to win is higher than the visiting team.
