This result is very favourable for Manchester City because at least they can able to avoiding lose at Real Madrid home ground and indeed Real Madrid players were successfully to guarded Haaland in this match because i have seen Haaland didn't get much opportunity to scores goals but luckly De Bruyne can able performing well and since the beginning of match i have counted at least he was made 3 shots attempts which is can threaten Real Madrid defensive lines and second leg will be more interesting because at least Manchester City only required 1 goal without conceded if want to advance to the final match and it's not a hard task for them because Manchester City were very strong at home and still unbeatable since group stage
The Champions League format has changed, meaning that away goals have been abolished. So these two teams still have the same opportunity to seal tickets to the semifinals. Indeed, Manchester City will benefit a little because playing at home in the second leg later, but Real Madrid who have high experience in Europe certainly will not make them mentally shriveled. I predicted that the second leg match will still be fierce and quite balanced. Only good luck will make one of these teams can realize his dreams in Istanbul.

The leg-1 match was excellent with both teams having a very interesting game to watch. I watched the game full time and both teams attacked adequately throughout. Manchester City made a few fierce attacks in the first period but Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made a brilliant save. And Real Madrid also had a few attacks but neither team could score. In the 36th minute of the first half, Real Madrid's fierce attack resulted in a fatal goal from Vinicius Junior's kick. Even in the second half of the game, there was very little chance of scoring between the two teams, which attacked fiercely. Later in the 67th minute, Manchester City scored a great goal and the goal was a kick from Kevin De Bruyne. Then the game between the two teams was equalized with a 1-1 draw and later on, no team could score a goal in any attack. Due to which the match is a draw next match leg-2 let's see which team can go from semi-final to UEFA champion to final.

I think, Manchester city will go for UEFA champions league final because Real Madrid cannot stop them in the second leg not to achieve goals that will bring them victory, because they are good in using home advantage to defeat any strong team. Real Madrid plan is to defeat Manchester city 1-0  in the first leg and draw the second leg with Manchester city in their home, which Manchester city never allow Real Madrid plan stand than to used another tactics to scored goal at 67 minutes to equalized the goal 1-1. I believe, Manchester city will embrace more opportunity in their second leg to defeat Real Madrid 3-1 because they will not allow what happened in this first leg to repeat itself again.

Manchester City played absolutely well last night by making Madrid struggle to get the ball and it's what I was expecting from the Citizens, to me Madrid was no match for City. After the first goal by Vinicius Jr I thought that would be another problem for Manchester CITY, like they would be panicking to get an equalizer but Pep controlled his boys asking them to continue pushing till they got a goal.
I still don't know why whenever it comes to a crucial game such as this, Erling Haaland would just be a ghost in the game, like is worrisome and Pep Guardiola needs to start up somebody who's not relaxing in games such as this like Alvarez. I believe he [Alvarez] can do better than Erling or if possibly play both attackers in the return leg and make the defense of Madrid work more than they did in the first leg and hopefully it will be a win for City at the end.

I wouldn't say that Real Madrid's performance was bad. But I expected a better performance from Real Madrid. Luka Modric is back from injury. But he could not play well in this match. More importantly, Benzema's performance was not good in this match. If Benzema had played well, maybe Madrid would have won.

Real Madrid has fallen behind by not being able to win home matches. In the previous season, we saw Real Madrid lose 4-3 against Manchester City in the away match, but they managed to qualify for the final thanks to a 3-1 win at home. But this time they can't play well in the home match. I think Manchester City will qualify for the final.

Luka Modric back but not the risk taking player last night, he was not really part of the game same goes to Benzema also. Players who stood out for that game has to be Kross, Vini and also Camavinga also the defense both Rudiger and Alaba.

Erling Haaland was kept silent by Rudiger, he had a taste of good defending last night as he didn't even have enough chance, the one he had was blocked by David Alaba.

This was a very fierce match, both teams took the initiative to play a fast tempo, and there were lots of collisions which resulted in 4 yellow cards. I don't think it's the day of the strikers because they seem to be deadlocked. The tight defense of each team makes it difficult to create good opportunities. Man City certainly has an advantage in the second leg because they will be playing at home but still, they can't let their guard down because Real Madrid is a dangerous team that has a good mentality.

On the one hand, Manchester City was lucky to avoid defeat at home to Real Madrid, on the other hand, Manchester City must be wary of the draw they just won. Real Madrid once made history by being able to qualify for the final by failing to win in the first leg when they met Manchester City.

In the 2015-2016 Champions League semifinals, Real Madrid was held to a 0-0 draw by Manchester City at the Etihad stadium, then in the second leg Real Madrid managed to beat Manchester City 1-0 in the second leg which was held at the Santiago Bernabeu. The same incident happened in the semifinals of the Champions League last season, Real Madrid lost 3-4 away to the Etihad stadium, but Real Madrid managed to make a comeback in the second leg which made the aggregate 6-5 when playing at home.
Will the events in 2015-2016 and 2021-2022 happen again when Real Madrid away to Manchester City headquarters. ?

Haaland in particular was very aggressive in this match but could not succeed. Although Manchester City drew in this match, they are at the bottom of the points table. The game ahead of Manchester City will not be much of a competition as the other side is less strong than Manchester City. However, Real Madrid drew this game at home and they also proved to be the power grabbers.
I thought manchester city can win this match because manchester city is stronger in point table despite real madrid having all number of strikers. Meanwhile, Real Madrid had many chances to score more goals but Karim Benzema could not succeed despite several attacks.

Pep had a solid game plan when he took Manchester City to Madrid and he executed it perfectly with his starting line-up. I must give a big shout out to Ederson for keeping City in the game, he was absolutely brilliant against Real Madrid. From my perspective it looks like Man City will be able to finish the job at home in The Etihad Stadium next week. It'll be a classic match damn sure!

Unfortunately, Haaland wasn't much of a presence on the field during the crucial game against Madrid. Antonio Rüdiger did an excellent job containing him. It's a shame that we barely even noticed Haaland's presence. Real Madrid may have been lucky that he didn't play.  Grin

I didn't watch the match so I didn't understand how the match went and how the two clubs attacked each other, it's just that seeing the final result was quite disappointing for me not because I lost the bet but with this result it is clear which team will advance to the final.

It's a shame that the home factor didn't help Real Madrid to take the lead after this first game was over, because a draw at home is the same as a defeat in my opinion because of course when they play away it will be even more difficult for Real Madrid to win.

Manchester City will play as the home team in the second match, this draw is a success for City, if everything goes according to predictions then they will be in the final and waiting for which team from the city of Milan will face them in the final later. Looks like Guardiola already understands how to suppress Real Madrid even if it's only a draw but that's better for them, hopefully in the second match there won't be any blunders made by City players that derail them from reaching the final and they still have to be vigilant because Real Madrid is still Real Madrid with all its experience in champion league will try to get out of pressure and give a surprise.

I feel like there is a good chance City could win in the second game, that's a good thing that they got a tie in the first game when it was at Madrid. But I still think that there is a bit of an issue right now with what we have, it just doesn't feel like they played to their full strength. I mean think about it, Haaland had nearly no good positions, he had one header that was directly to goalkeeper, and he had one shot deflected by defense, but he created no big threat at all. I feel like Real suddenly became much better, and this is a troubling alarm for City. They need to look a lot better, dominate a lot more as well. Look at the first half hour of the game, how much better they were, and look at the other hour, they were not very close to each other. Real is great and all, but if City wants to win then they can't have any doubt in their minds.
Yes City has a big chance in the 2nd leg after being able to draw at home to Madrid. But it's not easy against Real Madrid in the Champions League, they are quite experienced. Ancelotti really understands and is able to read the movements of opposing players so that it is difficult for Haaland to develop his game. But Real Madrid is not so strong anymore in defense. Modric and Kroos are still able to appear extraordinary, but they are no longer strong enough to play full time. In the second half, his stamina began to look weak so that he was able to be taken over by Kevin De Bruyne and colleagues.

What a wonderful game of football from both Real Madrid and Manchester City, now i can't wait for the second leg, another 90 minutes (and possibly 30 mins of extra time, plus penalties) to decide this tie and find out which of the two teams is going to the final in Istanbul. If i am to pick who was the better side tonight, i'd say it was Real Madrid, City held more of the possession, but they didn't look too dangerous when they got close to Madrid's box, but whenever Madrid approached City's box, it felt like something was going to happen (i don't know if it was because of the noise the fans were making). Well, at the Etihad City have the home advantage and hopefully their fans can come out and cheer them to victory.
The results of the 1st leg match played at Santiago Barnabeu ended in a draw. Both teams have shown a quality game that is quite entertaining. Leg 2 will be played at the Etihad Stadium, this is predicted to be very profitable for Manchester City to win. But it must be known that Real Madrid will not be easily tamed, they will still fight until the end.

Manchester City is indeed very ambitious to be able to qualify for the final and reach the championship. With players who are qualified enough, it is natural for City to be superior. But Real Madrid, with a wealth of experience, also wants to add to their collection of Champions League titles, so Ancelotti remains optimistic even though his team is not so favored.

We already watched Leg 1 (Real Madrid vs Man City). The result was a draw, Real Madrid 1 vs 1 Man City. Man City didn't look very dominated the match, the stats showed Real Madrid has more shoot attempts. Now, people must understand why they mustn't underestimate Real Madrid in UCL. Even if Leg 2 will be held in Man City home, no guarantee that Man City will secure the final round spot.

I missed the match owing to some pressing matters that required my attention, but I'll surely stream the recorded or replay when I'm free today; although I was able to follow the livescores, I wouldn't say I expected the outcome.

The stats show that they did not dominate as much as they did in their encounter against Osasuna, but the reason is obvious.
My wager was for Man City to win. I considered betting on a draw but opted to ignore it and go for only Man City to win, which backfired. If you conduct a quick survey, you'll notice that the majority of gamblers either bet on Man City to win or Real Madrid to win. Only a few chose to draw.

What a magnificent goal from De Bruyne on the 67th minites to equalise the game for his side. It was a good second half for city as they were able to put themselves back into the game, after the first half. Manchester city really tried their best in this match because all the players played 90mins with no substitute.

Real Madrid also tried in creating chances but it wasn't easy for them to score the second time, since their tactics didn't give them a win. The game is still open for both teams to have the opportunity to qualify to the finals during the second leg that will be played in Etihad stadium. That game will determine the winner, I just hope that the second leg wouldn't end up to be a penalty shoot out because both clubs are very strong. Real Madrid can win anywhere, either at home or away.
Real Madrid 1-1 Manchester city
Hi, Frankolala

I don't know if you saw Modric's reaction when Bruyne's goal happens, it that tells you the passion with which the Madrid players play, a guy who has practically won everything with Real Madrid, it's not that the others don't have it, but those extra emotions are what put RM in an additional plus for the next game.

I don't think we will have penalties, it will be an open game, the pressure is more on the side of the MCI.

Man city really showed what they are made of tonight, for not  allowing Real Madrid to defeat them, instead of a defeat, man city settled for a draw. This is a good result for city as they will be taking advantage of the second leg at home. The second leg should be a payback time to Real Madrid, because last year they sent city home from the semifinals. Real Madrid is the league favourite and this makes them more experienced in the league than city but I don't think that city will give it up to them the second time. What a classic equaliser goal from De Bruyne to still keep the city on track. So many yellow cards in the game Grealish and Carvajal were rivals in the match. One mistake that Real Madrid did was that they forgot how dangerous De Bruyne is and they put all their focus on Haaland
The truth is that the UEFA championship this season belongs to Manchester City, and even though their performance in today's match was a little bit out of formation, because for them to have allowed Real Madrid to obtain a 1 goal lead up till the second half of the match shows how weak their defense and attacking position are, because of not for luck that was on their side there could have not equalized the goal and the match could have ended in 1:0 in favor of Madrid.
You are too affirmative with the winning of Man City, they are my favourite as well but I will always put a factor of safety to my support. As you can see what happened yesterday in the first leg of the semi-final, all believed that it would be easy for the club (Man City), but in reality, it wasn't. If not for luck as you said, it could have been another thing against them.

Well, Real Madrid has proven to be a qualified contender and I will not undermine them in the UCL. This first leg would have dropped many tickets and the second leg might be tougher for the two sides.

I know it, people think Man City is the favorite because they performed better in EPL. While Real Madrid performed unexpectedly during this season, they failed to win La Liga title. But I don't think the performance in the league can determine which team qualifies for the final round. You must remember that Napoli was eliminated by AC Milan although Napoli performance was impressive in Serie A. It simply indicates that domestic performance can't guarantee anything.

All predictable are wrong about some sportsbook favorite for Manchester City winning match last night because the result is draw, its seems not fair when compare Real Madrid underperform in La Liga will bring impact for Champion League. Last night although not dominance with ball possession but Real Madrid success managed awhile on first half and Kevin de Bruyne scored on second half for Manchester City.

Learned from Napoli eliminated by AC Milan has consistent performance in domestic league and success winning scudetto but they can't lead to semifinal stage, mentality and experienced will talk more than how consistent performance in domestic league can't help any team will have good perform in Champion League.

It's quite understandable why Manchester City is the favorite and not Real Madrid, maybe the assessment is how the two teams perform in domestic matches, where Manchester City has appeared more impressive than Real Madrid, which this season has failed to defend the LaLiga title, Man City has not even lost in the EPL in the last few matches they have always scored at least 2-4 in every game in contrast to Real Madrid, sometimes they can lose to a team they think they will beat easily so doubts arise.

They lack experience, and I'm not sure why Pep didn't make a substitution when the team was down and needed some force on the right wing, he's known for gambling with his team when it matters, and what he did today just proves that, his lucky to have gotten a point in Spain, it might not be the same story in the return leg, he needs to be careful of Real Madrid, CL is their playground, and they know how to cause upset when least expected. If they can beat Real Madrid, I don't see any other team stopping them from winning the trophy.
Pep knew that if it was facing real marid. Pep just try to use the best form of manchester city to face it. Doing wrong substitution is sometime will able to make the team to get blunder. Real madrid is a team that can use even a small chance to be converted into the goals. As you can see that pep was using all of its best players in manchester city. pep just try to anticipate the result from last season to happen again. That's why there was no substitution happened in manchester city.

We cannot underestimate Madrid even if it is playing away. So many times real madrid was able making the situation to be difference when the club is playing away against another team.

Haaland seems rarely get a chance for that.
