Pep Guardiola's decision to take off Erling Haaland was absolutely deliberate and he admitted it the the post match conference yesterday citing that he's too young to break Leo Messi's record of most goals scored in a single UEFA Champions League match.

Guardiola's love for Leo Messi can never be over emphasised despite the fact that he's stopped managing him for since a decade ago. He still wants him to be respected as the best player ever in the history of football. I would have be infuriated by that substitution I was the one in question but I love the way the young lad managed the situation
Haaland the monster. Except for the penalty goal, all the goals were a combination of determination and Halland's skill with positioning in the style of Inzaghi. A frightening combination. The term is the ball that is looking for Halaand. If Halaand is not replaced, maybe he will score again and break Messi's record as the top scorer in one match in the Champions League. What you say may be true, Pep doesn't want Lionel Messi's record to be snatched away by Haaland.

It's a pity for Haaland. Pep's decision to take him off so early is probably to avoid breaking the record. It makes no sense to take off a player who has scored 5 goals on the way to a new record. What Pep did is very wrong and from what I see on social media there is a big lynching.

I think it's the right decision from Guardiola, because he wants to elicit the best of Haaland, and Leipzig wasn't that good in that match, so letting Haaland score additional goals in that match won't help Halland or the team. Therefore, Guardiola substituted him in order to save his ambition for another match, in which the team would be in need of his goals. However, scoring 5 goals in one match will remain a big achievement.

As for the other matches, they were quite boring I think, madrid and liverpool played with a minimum score, amazingly, liverpool already 4 times in a row leaves the tournament thanks to Real Madrid

Real Madrid is the hero of this competition, not only Liverpool, there is also Bayern Munich, who get kicked out many times by Real Madrid. That is the reason why all other European teams hate Real Madrid. Indeed, every time we expect them to get kicked out, they continue and win the title, so from now on, I won't exclude them from the heaviest competitors for the title this season.

I think it can be more interesting if we see a match between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid while on the other side, we can have Napoli and Manchester City because Napoli could perform very well so far and they have Victor Osimhen who is known for his awesome performance in the Napoli while in Manchester City they have Haaland with the same situation, so I think we these two forward players face each other we can see an amazing match.
I still hope these 4 teams don't meet that soon because indeed it would be very unfortunate if the big clubs met in the top 8 because the hope is clear that the semi-finals will be much more exciting it seems.
Even so, the 4 clubs that you mention here now are candidates that really deserve to be seen how they navigate the Champions League this season.

Yes, maybe he did wrong, but a player like that still has a lot of time to break all the records, he is young and apparently he is not going to give up his position, I'm sure he will break those records. I'm sure a lot of us here hat goals in Real - Liverpool right ? The game really looked like no one could score if no one makes a mistake or big luck is involved and that is exactly what happened because Real scored by luck in my opinion but on the other side , Liverpool had no power to score 1 goal ? I mean , it doesn't even looked they were trying or maybe Real is really that good in defense.
Liverpool are not confident about a comeback to even qualify for the quarter-finals, I think it is also difficult for Liverpool to score 4 goals against Madrid without replying, on the contrary, Madrid scored 1 additional goal in this second leg, I think people already know yesterday's match the result is that madrid will advance to the quarter-finals.  Wink
They didn't even make a real breakthrough in the second half as their scheme read Madrid.
In the second half, Madrid really controlled the game, even the long bait that Madrid always did was very successful to make it difficult for Liverpool to anticipate that.
Klopp also couldn't do much here because they were already difficult in the first half and the second half had no chance of a comeback.

Napoli have made it to the quarter finals and I'm wondering what team they will have a matchup against. I would really like to see Napoli facing one of the biggest title contenders left because Napoli's performance in such a matchup would give us a better idea about them in the Champions League. Actually I know they faced Liverpool in the group stage. One of those matches were a pure destruction by Napoli.
I'm also very curious about Napoli's performance when they meet big clubs in the UCL later. Are they going to be as effective and as good as usual or not. Napoli is a club beyond expectations. They really have a very good impression this season. Their performance is very consistent and they can always take advantage of opportunities to win. But indeed, there will be many obstacles in the quarter-finals later, moreover many big clubs have passed.

Manchester City rained goals on Leipzig yesterday. I expected Manchester City to win this match but I didn't expect them to win in such a different way.Manchester City won the match with a dominant football from the beginning to the end of the match. It must be said that they had a very comfortable victory.Manchester City scored 7 goals with 16 hits in 23 shots. It is worth mentioning that 5 goals came from Haaland. He is a really excellent player and he showed himself again in this match.

There's a feeling that not everyone has yet come away from the kind of event Haaland created, it's surprising that they replaced him so early, apparently so he wouldn't break any new records, huh. But actually it was really obvious, it was more of a surprise to me when they played a draw in the first match, I thought they broke, but no, it seemed Wink. I wonder who their opponent will be now...

I expected Real Madrid to win, but I also expected a more meaningful game from Liverpool. Still, they had nothing to lose, this is their last match in the Champions League this season, they could have slammed the door for last, but it is clear that it is difficult for them to play against Real Madrid, although we have to admit that they were much better in defense in the second leg.

Many people already says if in the 2nd leg match between Madrid vs Liverpool will not be interesting because 90% of the chances to qualify is for Madrid. This prediction can be said to be true. 2nd Leg Madrid managed to add 1 goal while Liverpool could not score. Liverpool participation in UCL this season is done, But we have Man City & Chelsea as representatives of the EPL. I think the ideal final for this season is
- Madrid vs Munich or
- Madrid vs City
the rest will be surprise final match (IMO).  Grin

Since group stage, Napoli success won 7 of 8 games Champion League in this season and seems how superior their performance not only consistency in domestic league but also Napoli have good achievement in Champion League after qualifying to quarter final. Next tomorrow is drawing schedule match for quarter final and I expected how possibility for Napoli against Manchester City?

In quarter final possibility have many big matches but I don't expected with Real Madrid against with bigger team like Manchester City or Bayern Munich, have expected with Madrid against Benfica or AC Milan seems weakness team and get potential lead until semifinal, but Madrid have experience against bigger team last season and success got Champion League tittle without as favorite team.

I don't want Napoli to get Real Madrid for the quarter-final draw this season. I'm not afraid and actually I have no reason to be afraid because I know which team I support. Whoever Real Madrid will play against this season is a challenge, even if it's Benfica. Tomorrow is draw day for the quarter-finals, I'm really curious.
I agree with that, Napoli's condition is still very good and it would be a shame if they met Madrid because even though their current performance is still good, facing Madrid will obviously be very dangerous, of course.
It would be great if they faced another team first even if it would be difficult but it would be slightly better than meeting Madrid.

with the new rules it is likely that teams from the same league will face each other in the quarter-finals. I don't expect Napoli to get the same opponent, aka from Serie A. I want to see the matches in the quarter-finals more exciting than the round of 16 so that the strongest teams from different leagues can meet each other in quarter finals. maybe napoli vs manchester city is a spectacular match that brings together the two most aggressive stickers in their respective leagues.

but if Napoli get opponents from Serie A teams, for example Inter or AC Milan, of course their chances of qualifying for the next round will be wide open because we know Napoli are quite strong in Serie A.

Napoli will likely meet Benfica or Chelsea. I don't know how it will happen but I just know it may happen. And right now, I think the only team that I so much dread is Bayern Munich. I will be so impressed if Bayern meets Napoli or real Madrid cuz I really can't see any team that is capae of Eliminatimg Bayern Munich from the Champion league as it stands, exception of Napoli and real Madrid. Manchester City is not to be trusted at the moment,  though they will do well has they have fort to this stage. Napoli may Eliminate Bayern if luckily such should happen in the quarter final.

Apart from Liverpool appearing insecure, I see that Real Madrid's defense is very difficult to penetrate, especially Rudiger. This is indeed one of the best defenders at the moment and deserves a very high salary, it's no wonder when he won the Champion at Chelsea because there were Rudiger and Silva, of course they are top defenders who are difficult to pass.

You all know the reason for that. Real Madrid are just dominating the Champions League with their huge experience. Maybe they don't have the best squad in the tournament technically but still they are able to win the title here. It is mainly due to being very experienced and using the right strategies even against the biggest title contenders. Liverpool were one of them on paper but we have all witnessed how Real Madrid crushed them on aggregate. I don't know which team can deal with them really for now.
Real Madrid basically has what it takes to win CL trophies. I second everything you said, tbh i don't think they have the best squad in the competition, but they just know how to win CL games, even when they aren't at their best, last season from the RO16 to the Final, their opponents were better than them imo, but it was Real Madrid that progressed to the final and eventually won it.

Having said that, Ancelotti also deserves an awful amount of praise, i admire how he keeps things simple with his team, no confusing tactics and all that, he just puts them in their natural positions and gives them the gameplan, which they execute to perfection more often than not, maybe Pep should learn how to keep things simple from Ancelotti's book, maybe then he'd be able to win the CL with City.

I would guess that we are going to have at least one great game coming up, and then we are going to have at least one meaningless game as well. Milan, Benfica, Chelsea, Inter, these are teams that I do not think that have a chance against a team like Real Madrid or City. Obviously, Benfica is the weakest looking one, I am not saying they would lose to other weak teams, we could see even Chelsea, which spend 500+ million, end up losing to Benfica with the way they play in the league.

However, if Real or City matches with Benfica, or any of the other weaker teams, that's going to be an easy game without a doubt. We will probably have either Bayern or City or Madrid to face each other though, that would be a big game.

When Liverpool was matched against Real Madrid, it was already predetermined that Liverpool won't scale through to the quarter finals. Just how could they have with this lack of form and against one of the best teams that have proven themselves over in the UCL.
They lost but not awfullly like it was in the first leg and the Benzema's goal for Real Madrid was just a must score with that positioning and Vinicious Jnr found him real good too.
The second leg is very different for Liverpool, but Liverpool are no match for Real Madrid. So the Liverpool defeat was predicted, it came true. Even if Liverpool are good in some areas, we can handle it.

Napoli on the other hand, I sort of expected a draw from them given the fact that, they already had a 2 goals advantage from the first half but, the were just unstoppable yesterday and Frankfurt couldn't manage to get a goal in both legs. Napoli is just that good this season.

I will wait tomorrow to see the draw results. I think Real Madrid is more likely to meet one of the Serie A teams than one of the Premier League teams. If that turns out to be true, then I hope Real Madrid will meet Napoli, not Inter or Milan. Napoli is deserve for Real Madrid because I don't expect them to meet the same team in the Champions League as last season. But let's wait for the drawing results tomorrow.

The following is the draws procedure:

UEFA Champions League quarter-final, semi-final and final draws

Quote
Can teams from the same country play each other in the Champions League quarter-finals?
Yes, it is an open draw. There are no seedings and no country protection, so clubs can face opposition from the same national association and teams they previously came up against in the group stage.

How does the Champions League quarter-final draw work?
Eight balls containing the names of the quarter-finalists are placed in a large central bowl and shuffled. The first team drawn plays its first match at home, against the second team drawn. The procedure is repeated with the remaining balls in the bowl to complete the quarter-final pairings.

Are the Champions League semi-finals drawn at the same time?
Yes. For the semi-final draw, four balls containing slips of paper marked 'Winners of quarter-final 1' to 'Winners of quarter-final 4' are placed in a large central bowl and shuffled. The first and second balls drawn determine the first semi-final pairing, the first ball drawn representing the home team for the first leg. The procedure is repeated with the remaining balls in the bowl to complete the semi-final pairings.

There will then be a third draw to determine the 'home' side in the final for administrative reasons.
The strongest team in the Champions League this season I think is Bayern Munich and that is clear from the opponents they have beaten to qualify for the top 8. For the draw that will be held tomorrow will give a strong meaning who the opponents they will face. i want to see bayern munich vs real madrid and manchester city vs napoli. if this happens it must be very exciting and most likely if their match is a match that will provide an answer as to who will be the champion this season.

team from serie A, they have three representatives in the round of 8 and i think they have a good chance to be champions this season. I think that if the UCL trophy is successfully obtained by Serie A team then Serie A will most likely become a very competitive league next season.
