Liverpool each struggle with their front lines, Nunez still hasn't contributed anything to Liverpool so it's very difficult for them to be included in potential champion candidates, while Napoli is an inconsistent team, we know in the last few seasons they have played normally but in this season they are looking good, if Napoli meets a big team like Madrid, PSG or Bayern, Napoli will surely lose.
Nunez hasn't been all that bad, he has scored a couple of goals and assisted some too, and if you judge his contribution with the minutes he has been restricted too, you'd understand that he has been somewhat impressive, though when i watch him i see that he still has a lot of work to do in order to become a better player, his decision making sometimes is quite poor. Liverpool aren't strong favorites because the overall team isn't playing at their best and not because of any player in particular.

Having said that, Napoli will be that smaller team that the big teams will be hoping to avoid, not that they cannot defeat them, but because it could be tricky, and absolutely anything can happen, i get this feeling that Napoli are going to provide an upset in this season's CL, not that they'd win it, of course they can't, but they might just eliminate a team that nobody gave them a chance against.

Liverpool's fans may not be able to accept this performance of Liverpool at present. Because this kind of game is never expected from a team like Liverpool. I think Liverpool is one of the best teams in the English Premier League. But they haven't been able to sustain their best start to the season. But Liverpool is going through a bad time now, I believe Liverpool will turn around again very soon. And I believe they will come back strong in the UEFA Champions League.
It must be admitted that Liverpool performance is far from consistent this season and that is one thing that must be addressed by Jurgen Kloop in the next round of the Champions League. Liverpool is not the team that is favored for the title winner this season if we compare them with some other big teams but this is not a big benchmark that Liverpool will be knocked out in the next round. Kloop will focus all its efforts on being able to bring Liverpool to the Champions League final because in the domestic league Liverpool have a few big obstacles to reach rank 4.
There is no doubt about Liverpool performance in this season as they are currently badly down in English Premier League, but their performance in Champions League is surely at their best, and they can do better after this break in knock out round which could be change things drastically for them with now two months break is surely going to have better change for them, and they can work on their weakness which is surely hurting them in this season.

Klopp which is here for long time will surely improve performance and quality for having better end of this season because right now situation is surely not good for them in Premier League they have to done good work if they want to enjoy good and successful end of this season.

Why isn't anyone considering Liverpool as a strong candidate either, is it because inconsistent results in the league are taken into account?
I understand what Haaland has done so far has been impressive, I can say he is a strong candidate for the Ballon d'Or for next year
but Liverpool and even Napoli are also to be reckoned with, Liverpool have had a good record in recent years in the UCL and Napoli will be a strong threat to the favorite teams

This is a little picture scenario of the teams that will meet in the last 16 of the Champions League, Real Madrid is the team possibility faced with all runner up team except Leipzig because are in the same group stage before. La Liga only participated by Real Madrid on 16 round after third team La Liga participants have eliminated on group stage from Atletico, Sevilla and Barcelona.

PSG faced difficult choice because the draw scenario for the last 16 of the Champions League has chance to meet all the big teams because it failed to finish in first place, but I as Madrid fan don't want PSG to have to face Real Madrid in the last 16 because it's early to see PSG must be eliminated on 16 round of Champion League.

Group winner faced with runner up ✔️
Can't faced with the same group team ❌
Can't faced with the same country team ❌

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's Champions League draw. Liverpool and PSG are both in the 2nd group, so they normally have a strong opponent. Club Brugge is a strange name in the list of teams in group 1. You would like to draw lots against that if you are in group 2. But they didn't just become first in the group and played well. There are some very nice matches imaginable, such as Bayern Munich - PSG. Then PSG could take revenge for the lost cup final a few years ago. I currently estimate PSG slightly higher, but that is mainly due to the vanguard.

I think, PSG will do everything possible within their power to defeat Liverpool 3-1 to improve their points, because Liverpool performance in this season is very poor which will be difficult for them to stop PSG not to experience victory from this match. I believe, PSG will like to prove to their fans that they remain the strongest team in this group by achieving victory from the match with many goals to alert other teams that this UEFA champions league title is for PSG in this season. I don't think, Bayern Munich can stop mighty PSG in this season, because many things has changed positively in PSG.

It's nothing surprised Manchester City will win in this season, but Real Madrid really have a strong mental that the other clubs doesn't have, more importantly we might see a surprise since Benfica and Napoli are in their best perform.
Madrid will always be a strong candidate to win the Champions League. Munich should also be considered besides Man City.
Top 1 will always be a difficult match for every team. Napoli is a scary new force at the moment. they have to be considered by the big teams and favorites in the last 1 round.

My favorite this season is Man City. they performed impressively in all competitions.

2   Real Madrid Spain:  2025
3   Manchester City England:  2022
4   SSC Napoli Italy:  2012

this is the list of the best teams in fifa version this season and i am quite surprised by napoli who managed to get past PSG and liverpool

To be honest, I am also quite surprised by Napoli's achievements in UCL so far, they will make new history if they can win the UCL trophy this season. Napoli must repeat the golden days of Napoli when Maradona was still playing for Napoli

The Champions league is one of the toughest league to predict who will win it. Manchester City has the qualities to win the league,  their are other league that are well fit to win it too . So it is something that you can't really tell right now.
It's a common thing. Any team that was participating in the champion league were coming from the best teams in any of their league. There's no reason for the champion league will not become a competitive competition. It will always have so many big clubs in the world who will be participating in the champion league. It can be seen from how many clubs that were competing between one to the each other anytime. Champion league is the toughest trophy to be achieved caused by that.

Football fans known that so well.

So to say PSG are stronger seems wrong. If PSG are good, he's not in second place at the end of the group stage. They should be able to end up in number one like Madrid so the possibility of meeting in the first knockout phase.
But to say PSG is weak is also wrong. I think if they're right to meet in the first phase it's very interesting. It could be that it was a semi-final too early. Remember last season Madrid also struggled while playing in France, lucky Madrid were able to reverse the result at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid and PSG in fact are both good in the Champions League this season because they qualified for the round of 16. What hasn't happened after this is just speculation and prediction, but if it is based on history then Real Madrid is always superior to teams that haven't even won a title.

PSG this season has been good because of the improved relationship between their three strikers namely Messi, Neymar and Mbaeppe. They advanced to the last 16 without defeat, but maybe not as good as Real Madrid's achievement, which managed to become the seeded team. Meanwhile, if these two teams meet in the last 16, then I think something that happened last season will be repeated because of the decisive round at home to Real Madrid as the seeded team.
Exactly that is my point I was comparing only Madrid and PSG in this season only. Therefore I was saying PSG is better. But didn't underestimate the Madrid too. Of course it has good history but in this season PSG is little bit better than Madrid.

Note: Comparing only teams, not groups, and also not comparing out of this season. (Only this season)

Is there any user who think Champions League isn't a tough league? only top clubs in each League can qualify, which mean only best of the best clubs can join Champions League. Aside of World Cup, any players want to win this League since this will become a proof if their club is the most strongest than the others.

both Manchester City and PSG are doing well in this year's Champion's League. I am expecting that both clubs will make it in the next round and no matter whoever they are fixtured to play against. The main thing that will make one of them to drop is if both are featured to play together otherwise both of them will escape the next stage of the Champions League.

Psg ending second means  some other clubs will get it difficult and it will spicy the league.
Last season it was the same for mate, both of whom were always very good in the Champions League. But you know who won the Champions League last season? And for this season, both of them have already qualified for the round of 16 and there is still the possibility of qualifying for the next round thanks to their very attractive performances. But to win the Champions League I still have a little doubt for these two teams because last season they were also very impressive in the Champions League but they didn't get good results.

On paper, Manchester City can be seen as the biggest favourite for the Champions League title. In the end, they have a more completed squad at the moment. Haaland's arrival will help them become closer to the title compared to the previous season. But we need to see their performance against the other big favourites as well.

For example, their elimination by Real Madrid last season was really dramatic. It was like they were so close to making it but Real Madrid performed a miracle in the last minutes of the rematch. Guardiola needs to focus on getting his players well-prepared for this kind of matches this time.

However, no team in the Champions League knockout round can be called weak.
I second every word of this sentence above, the Champions League is a very tough and tricky tournamnet and all the teams that make it through can be considered a difficult opponent to handle, notwithstanding, there are teams that are stronger, and are among the favorites, but even such teams cannot underestimate the less stronger teams when they come up against each other. The tournament becomes stronger as the competition progresses, from the QF every game is like a 'Final', and if any teams becomes complacent, they are definitely going to be knocked out.

Having said that, this season there are some teams that look like they will cause the bigger teams problems, i am pretty sure even the bigger teams will be hoping to avoid them in the draws, Napoli, Benfica and Porto are examples of such teams, the tournament is about to get a whole lot more interesting.

Manchester City is a strong team. Their match strategy is excellent. Also they have a strong squad. And so Manchester City players have the ability to win against any team. However, no team in the Champions League knockout round can be called weak. They managed to qualify for the second round by performing well in the first round. And every team in this round is strong. So if City's goal is to win the title, they will have to perform very carefully in every match. If they perform poorly in any match, they will be relegated. It is very important to perform carefully in every match of this round.
Being careful is something that cannot be forgotten in a match, but if it is excessive then it will also have a negative impact on their game. If they are overly cautious, they will not play loose because there is bound to be a fear of making a fatal mistake. They have to play as usual and improve more if they want to come out victorious. Everyone who will appear in this round will play it out, because they have 2 chances to defend or make a comeback in the second leg. Especially if you are left behind in the first leg, it is certain that any club will come out attacking to get a goal.

It's a bit too much up and down for Manchester City right now. I would still think that they are the favorite, but winning such a close game against Fulham in the league also shows that they can get into trouble as well even against some weaker teams. I think there will be some very close matches this year in the champions league. The statistics for Bayern are strong as well in a strong group. Manchester City gave away four points in a group that I think was less strong than Bayern's. I wonder whether there will be some unexpected outcomes as well. Liverpool still is a candidate even though they aren't stable, yet they were able to beat City in the league.

The draw will be tomorrow, I'd be happy Manchester City didn't have a strong opponent but it's always possible to come up with a challenge early on. The next problem is, Guardila has to give up some of his players to compete in the world cup, this will make some different feelings for the team coach because every player is always injured while defending his national team. But since the last 16 will take place next year, there is a lot of time and preparation to look forward to.

indeed Galtier has no experience in the Champions League but we have to look at the PSG squad this season where the PSG squad is inhabited by players who are full of experience in the Champions League. But before that we have to wait for the draw for the round of 16 which will be held tomorrow. As you said the big match is something that might happen to PSG and I hope they can be met with real madrid or with bayern munich because if this happens then we can see the strength of psg this season in the champions league. On the one hand, PSG is a team that is very ambitious to reach the champions league title and Galtier can make it happen if he knows how to beat a team that is stronger than them.
Paris Saint Germain always has an experienced squad in the Champions League every season, last season for example they also had a squad that was not much different from now with many experienced players. But does it help? Honestly I have to say it didn't help.
Galtier must be aware of things like this if he is to speak more in the Champions League this season. And I think it doesn't have to be with what they show on the pitch when they play, before the game there has to be more motivation for the players to do their best. And also the role of players on the field will greatly affect their game.
I take for example when Real Madrid equalized in the last minute of the game, where Kroos played that role who gave Rudiger the confidence to go forward and receive the pass that he gave, the result was a goal for Real Madrid. Things like this become important in the game when in a state of urgency.

This is all just a theory because in the end the result of the match will be the best decision to judge who deserves it. I support Manchester City and also believe in the ability of the players, but in the last few seasons I have been really disappointed about the result. Haaland is expected to be the difference, but anything can still go wrong.

Guardiola needs to focus on getting his players well-prepared for this kind of matches this time.

PSG is a big candidate for the title winner this season because this season PSG have a deadly trio up front, this is what makes me believe PSG can beat their opponents in the next round. Real Madrid have a winning mentality and their squad is also very strong for this season. Bayern munich and manchester city are among the strong candidates for the title this season seeing their performance in the domestic league and in the ucl is very impressive for this season i think they will try hard to get the ucl trophy. Maybe we shouldn't forget Napoli they are group winners with a pretty good performance so far.
I'm still not too sure about that, especially in the last 16 there is a possibility that they will face a Big Match considering that they have to be in second place in the group phase so it is very likely that they will do the same Big Match in this phase as last season.
In terms of players in the squad they are still very decent but of course this is not only a matter of players but the coach's scheme is also taken into account and you could say Galtier is a debutant for the Champions League so this could be something that is indeed the same as last season.
