Last season did Real Madrid play like they were going anywhere, they got lucky multiple times then use their experience to their advantage at the finals. Real Madrid road to the finals was just dependent on comebacks and didn't dominate any game they played convincingly in the knockout stages. Liverpool on the other hand is a premier league team and they're always favorites to win games but get unlucky sometimes and that's what knock them out of the competition. Look at the current teams in the round of 16, I think only the England side has all teams still in the competition and that's to show how dominate the league has been in the competition.
You're right, Real Madrid were really lucky last season in the second leg after not being very impressive in every first leg. I don't know if this season the same will happen, but Liverpool may have to do their best from the first half because once again Real Madrid will decide all that at home. It is also true that the Premier League has dominate Champions League this season with 4 candidates in the last 16. Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham are probably the right order based on the chances of getting into the quarter-finals.

Regardless of who the opponent is, I think the 4 Premier League teams who are in the last 16 can really be underdogs although Liverpool seems a bit dubious. But really no one can really predict a match that is still long enough to look forward to.

We have another tough challenge in the Champions League. Real Madrid is the defending champion and has won many UCL titles Head to head Liverpool have 3 wins, 1 draw and 5 wins for Real Madrid, so it's clear from a statistical point of view that we don't outperform them but believe Liverpool this season will be much better to face this tough challenge.

We don't expect anything bad even though the league is still not stable but after the transfer window has gone through hopefully the Liverpool management can make some changes in the planned signing of players, and for the two injured strikers Jota and Diaz they will return well after waking up from his absence.

It's still too far for us to do that.
Liverpool have had a long time to improve their performances. According to the plan, the round of 16 will be played in February, that means there are more than 2 months for them to take advantage of it. Moreover, the transfer window will also open soon, so they can buy a few more players to strengthen their current squad. There is no reason for Liverpool to prepare for the time well.
There will be a lot of big games that are worth waiting for besides Liverpool vs Real Madrid. Their umpteenth meeting in the Champions League will make the match present a hot tension. one of their players, Mohamed Salah has bad memories against Real Madrid when he had to suffer an injury in a game a few seasons ago. And now that they will meet again, this is very interesting.
Yeah the break should give teams and managers enough time to sit back, analyse and evaluate their team's performances so far and figure out solutions to improve and get back to good form and this includes Liverpool. Two months should be a good time to get the squad together, make recruitments in January and having players return from injuries also so it should be the perfect break for the season.

In regards to the draw, I think Chelsea had a fair draw. Dortmund vs Chelsea is going to be a game many won't be able to predict who wins but as usual I'll always give my support to my team. Hopefully when the games kicks off, we'll have the likes of Kante and Reece James fits so we won't have any excuse and be able to play at our best and progress to the next stage.

Liverpool v Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain v Bayern Munich matches will pave the way for Manchester City to win the champions league because these matches will create an easier tournament fixture for them. Smiley I think Manchester City will win the champions league cup this year. They narrowly lost the cup to Real Madrid last year. They are blowing like a storm in the world's toughest league. Of course, cup and league marathon are not the same, but I think they definitely deserve this cup.

Madrid is definitely the favorite in Liverpool vs Real Madrid match. Liverpool's performance is very erratic. There are many star players in the team, but Liverpool's team performance is not good due to the lack of chemistry between the players. Madrid on the other hand is a very stable team. And their match strategy is excellent. And so, even if they don't win by a big margin against Liverpool, Madrid are more likely to win both matches.
The match between PSG and Bayern Munich will be very crowded. The goal of both teams is to win the title. And so it is difficult to predict which team will win this match. However, qualifying for the next round is difficult for Bayern Munich and Madrid. Manchester City will easily qualify for the next round with a win against Leipzig.

Champions League finalists will meet in the round of 16. It's the same old dominance over Liverpool again. There will be no problem for Madrid. Possibly Liverpool have another chance at revenge, but their inconsistent performance convinces anyone that they won't be able to take the lead easily this time. The match is going to be extremely challenging, but I'm not sure why Liverpool has such a hard time.
Liverpool are just inconsistent in the Premier League, but I really think they are ahead in the Champions League by making 5 wins from 6 match. The first leg will be played in February, so I don't think Liverpool's current inconsistency in the Premier League will greatly affect their performance against Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich vs PSG. It's a match that may never be easy for PSG or maybe for Bayern Munich. Many people think PSG is not worth it for Bayern Munich this team doesn't have the mentality to qualify, but I hope it will be different later. Not much to comment at the moment, I was expecting it to be a decent match.

UEFA Champions League - Bayern to advance to quarter-finals?
Yes 1.72
No 2.10

UEFA Champions League - Real Madrid advance to quarter-finals?
No 1.84
Yes 1.94

My logic says Bayern München, but my heart says PSG because of Messi. It's a fact that Bayern München is not that strong without Lewandowski. It's very difficult to know who will advance this rounds from this matchup. It wouldn't be a surprise when any of them made it through to next round.
Liverpool is doing poorly in the Premier League but Salah is in great shape recently. If Benzema returns on Real with similar form, the advantage will return to them. I also don't understand why Real's odds are higher. Despite everything, I think Real is the stronger side in this matchup.
Having 4 German, 4 English and 3 Italian teams in the last 16 shows how strong these leagues are. It was interesting that while Portugal continued with two teams, only one team from Spain remained. We were used to seeing Barcelona and Atlético around here.

Again this was a meeting I didn't expect, I wanted an easier opponent than Real Madrid, but the draw said Real Madrid would be our opponent. Our main mission is revenge against Real Madrid, but with Liverpool's current condition there is very little chance for Liverpool to do that. I really hope Jurgen Klopp will be motivated by seeing their opponents in the last 16 as the team that has smashed Liverpool several times for the title. I hope the players are also more motivated to do their best in the next game. Liverpool have to show they are better than Real Madrid now and complete the mission.

28 May 2022: Liverpool 0-1 Real Madrid
14 Apr 2021: Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid
6 Apr 2021: Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool
26 May 2018: Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool
4 Nov 2014: Real Madrid 1-0 Liverpool
22 Oct 2014: Liverpool 0-3 Real Madrid

even last season when liverpool was at their best they lost to Madrid. madrid is not a team that liverpool will easily face, at this time Klopp must be thinking hard about what strategy he will use. but I think it's better for Liverpool to focus on the EPL, because their current ranking is disappointing for many people.

Leipzig vs Man City
All I can say this is another easy round for Man City I don't get why they usually have one of easiest ties at R16. Football can actually happen but I will pick City to go through

Club Brugge Vs Benfica
Both exciting teams to watch this season. This is also an evenly balanced tie. My pick is Benfica will go through due to there experience in knockout stages over Brugge.

Liverpool vs Real Madrid
Wow a rematch of last seasons final. Liverpool will surely be seeking for a revenge in this match. Liverpool have actually done well in except there first match but I would still pick Madrid against anyone in UCL this season again

PSG vs Bayern
This certainly a match made in heaven. Two of the bookmarkers favourites meeting off this early. Not withstanding PSG excellent team but they switch off in knockout stages so my pick will be the Bayern team.

Dortmund vs Chelsea
This is surely the hardest to predict for me. But with Chelsea's vast experience in the competition I would fancy them but with there current form I will have to wait till after the world Cup break to predict this one Smiley

Liverpool vs Real Madrid

Just our luck, right?  Grin

Real Madrid and Liverpool seem to have strong chemistry, this match reminds us of last season's UCL final, last season's UCL final Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0. There is a slight difference in this match, Liverpool inconsistent appearance makes Real Madrid have the opportunity to dominate Liverpool again.

Fortunately the transfer window is swinging right open in January so we will have plenty of time to reinforce our midfield as that's really the only place that needs strengthening. Same problem as last season.

Basically what the guy above me wrote. But we can grab Jude Bellingham and maybe someone else from the Bundesliga.

Liverpool is really beyond expectations. For some reason, they played really well in the UCL, until they finally won:
Liverpool - Napoli
2 - 0

In fact, they were able to add a goal at the last minute. This time, applause for the Liverpool game. Finally, Napoli bowed to another club at the end of the group phase. Congratulations to both teams for advancing to the next round.

Yes, Liverpool really demonstrated well to deserved the victory from the match because they know how to reduce leading team points. Liverpool reduced Manchester city points in the premier league competition, and they still reduced Napoli points in this UEFA champions league competition that really made people to believed that Liverpool can still get it right soon to recover from all their losses they had experienced in this season. I think, Napoli strikers try their possible best to ensure they achieve a goal from the match but Liverpool defenders made the match difficult for them not to embrace any goal through out the match.
Well, something should be noted, the game between Liverpool and Napoli was very very good, I really believed that the one who was going to win was Napoli, the truth is that even though I saw it, it seemed to me that the one who stood up best in the game was the Napoli, who really attacked forcefully was Napoli, but seeing all the development of events, you cannot fight much if you have a player like Mo Salah at your disposal, it is really something else, he can change the course of any game, and more when the team helps him to resurface, for me he was the star of the game, but in general terms, Napoli for me did not deserve to lose.

Now:

Liverpool player ratings after Napoli win as Reds await Champions League fate

today the 1/8-final in the cl was drawn and there are some very interesting encounters.
paris vs. bayern and liverpool vs. real madrid are the most exciting games for me

the two meetings which I think are big games like PSG vs Bayern Munich and Liverpool Vs Real madrid will get rid of each other, it looks like it will be interesting to bet on the second match, while at the other club, Manchester City seems to be able to easily qualify for the top 8 beating Leipzig, I hope Manchester City get into this Champions final

Absolutely agree, for me the best match will be PSG vs. Bayern, although I really have my bet very clear, it will be against Bayern, this time I will bet on them with great confidence, I think they will be able to do a great job and apart from that they can give a great show, the other good match that I see is Real Madrid vs. Liverpool, unfortunately I think that Liverpool, in my opinion, will not be able to beat the power that Real Madrid has for now, this means that we, having good, Ancelotti's record with Real Madrid can offer us a super game that will undoubtedly be spectacular, that's what I want it to be.

Liverpool vs. Real Madrid, PSG vs. B.Munich in Champions League Round of 16

The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 will see fierce matches such as the Liverpool vs. Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain vs. Bayern Munich pairings.

The last 16 draw was held in Switzerland's Nyon on Monday.

Defending champions Real Madrid of Spain will face former winners Liverpool from England in the Round of 16 phase.

It will be a rematch of the 2022 final as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 to win the Champions League trophy in May.

Meanwhile French club PSG will take on German powerhouse Bayern Munich in the knockout phase.

Both sides met in the 2020 final as Bayern Munich defeated PSG 1-0 in Lisbon.

The two-legged Round of 16 will start in February, and the second legs will be played in March.

About the toughest draws like PSG - Bayern Munich and Liverpool - Real Madrid, I see Bayern Munich and Real Madrid as the closest sides to advance to quarter finals.

Bayern Munich have really surprised me so far with a huge performance in terms of scoring. After selling Lewandowski and not bringing anyone in his place I thought like they would struggle even in the group matches. But they just destroyed Barcelona and Inter both. This is a clear proof how disciplined and powerful team they are in this condition as well. PSG on the other hand are a little doubtful to me. Because they had a big difficulty against Benfica and both head-to-heads ended in draws. I think PSG will say goodbye to the Champions League early.

Liverpool have made a good improvement here these days. Maybe they are inconsistent in the league but the Champions League is the opposite for now. However I still don't see them more reliable than Real Madrid. Real Madrid are on track here and in the La Liga both. I think they are even stronger despite not relying on Benzema. I think they will find a way to eliminate Liverpool but it can be a close matchup indeed.

We will not know Liverpool's game when the match starts, Liverpool could be playing well when the game starts, because no one will know the situation on the field, of course there will be many cards that will be issued by the referee and this game could be , going until the penalty shootout because the balance between the two clubs is equally strong, the difference is that in the Final at that time, Real Madrid was still inhabited by strong players unlike this year, Real Madrid's young players often made mistakes even recently, in the previous match Madrid lost to Chelsea in the Grub preliminary round, in the 2nd leg.

Anything can still happen during the game. Real Madrid are still able to add to the suffering of Liverpool if you look at their performances, but Liverpool have the opportunity to take revenge for their failure last season. Liverpool began to rise from adversity, on the last Matchday of the group stage they were able to beat Napoli, Klopp's men had just beaten Tottenham in the Premier League.
This match will entertain anyone watching, both teams will present high game tension to each other to move to the next round. Liverpool will try to give Madrid competition for victory in order to avenge their failure in last season's final.

2022/23 UEFA Champions League Round of 16

Leipzig - Manchester City
Club Brugge - Benfica
Liverpool - Real Madrid
Milan - Tottenham
Eintracht Frankfurt - Napoli
Borussia Dortmund - Chelsea
Inter - Porto
Paris Saint-Germain - Bayern München

First games will be played in 14-15 and 21-22 February, second games will be played in 7-8 and 14-15 March.

The toughest matches will be Liverpool - Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain - Bayern Munich.  In these matchups, each team can advance to the next round.  Actually, I thought that Psg could be the champion this year, but they fell into a matchup like an early final.  It could be a tough match for Psg if it happens on Bayern Munich day.  Liverpool also need to pull themselves together by the match date.  Otherwise, Real Madrid will easily eliminate them.
