I'm still trying to figure out what is happening in the Champions League this season.  Grin

Yesterday we had really unexpected results and today is not much different as well. Manchester City are 1-0 behind against Dortmund now which is the biggest surprise. Manchester City might seem dominant to you if you look at the statistics but the thing is that they are too ineffective today. They don't even have one shot on target in 70 minutes which is horrible. Bellingham is getting closer by every minute to make his team the winner here. I never thought of this possibility for this match and most people must be sharing the same opinion. While Dortmund are still struggling with defense issues I wonder how Manchester City can play this much poorly against them.

Juventus - Benfica is another surprise so far as Benfica are still in the lead by 2-1. I know that Juventus aren't very reliable in the Serie A these days but they care about the Champions League more normally. So this score is very interesting to me.

Yes, the champions league this season is quite different and more exciting as every team is vying for the cup. I always had great faith in Manchester city to win the game against Dortmund. And despite being a goal down, I expected great things from them and they fulfilled my expectations as they bounced back and won the game with the new signing Haaland scoring the winning goal against his former club.
Atletico Madrid also lost their game with Bayern leverkusen 2 goals to nil. The champions league this season is somewhat tougher and more interesting

The surprises still continue in the Champions League Chelsea 1-1 salzburg  and Madrid 2-0 Leipzig we can make sure Madrid is safe
Meanwhile in another match Manchester City and PSG managed to make a comeback, these two teams are also guaranteed to secure 3 points
You can almost trust Pep not to fail. I wasn't watching this game in particular but was following up on the commentary with my eyes fixed in on the Chelsea game but it was surprisingly to see Manchester City leading after loosing by a goal up to the 80th minute. Like these guys took the lead by soring 2 goals in less than 4 minutes. Manchester City are just good at the stage of the competition but, yiu can't fully bank on them at the later phase of the league.

Chelsea played such good football until the last minute with a defensive error from David Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta couldn't help. He was way too far from Noah Okafor who have had a failed on target attempt with a header and now, he got the chance to shoot the ball right in the far corner.

So Juventus is almost out from the Champions, they need a miracle to qualify.

Do they need to sack Allegri?
No, Juventus have 3 more chances to score points in the group stage. They don't need to sack Allegri so quickly just because of two consecutive defeats in the group stages. I know their current form is unsatisfactory, and Allegri should be able to do more when the team needs points.

Manchester City, Napoli, Real Madrid, PSG and Benfica finally got full points in today's match. Manchester City and Real Madrid are struggling to beat the Bundesliga team because I think their defense is very good. But great, these two favorite teams secured 3 more points. The Champions League is back next month, I'm looking forward to that.

Real Madrid and late goals, a match made in heaven. To be honest, the match was so dull with not so many chances and i even thought it would end in a goaless stalemate and then boom, inform Valverde scores before substitute Asensio wrapped it up with a second one as if to prove to Ancelotti that he needs more play time.

That was a very good pass taken from the corner and a great second goal scored by Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio in a “grand manner”. Having now won the game 2 goals to nil, they’ve sailed through with a clean sheet. Great performance from the players as they were hungry enough for the win and got it. Marco Asensio would especially be very happy to have scored a goal.

temporary score chelsea vs RB salzburg 1-0. advantage for chelsea. but Real madrid vs LB leipzig still stuck 0-0. LB leipzig has been doing well so far. but i hope real madrid can score soon and win this game. because it will be very surprising if Real madrid can not score in this match. which is very surprising is Manchester city vs Dortmund 0-1. Man City are 1 goal behind. really heartbreaking to see Man City trailing by 1 goal. I think Man City could be better.

I wouldn’t call it a disappointment in its entirety and anything short of the first place isn’t a failure in my opinion. This is the champions league where the best teams in their respective leagues comes together to play for the ultimate champion. Everyone knows he’s a great coach and Manchester city being in top form is viable to win the cup but so are other teams playing for the esteemed cup. He has spent a considerable time and has won tournaments for the club. When he’s let go or decides to leave, who would be best suited to take the reigns?
Pep is one of the most phenomenal coaches at the moment and he's a pretty good tactician in my opinion. It's just that the lack or thing that has not been achieved with Manchester City is the champions league trophy. while in the domestic league, Pep has proven their quality. The champions league is a game full of prestige every top team from various leagues gather here and the champions league there is always a big surprise in every season. manchester city is one of the strong candidates in the title race if we look at the quality of the players they have. and this is still the group stage I must not say a big disappointment at the performance of manchester city in this ongoing match. Manchester City are already 1 goal down and I think they can turn things around.

So happy that Liverpool have gotten their first three points in the champions league after beating Ajax 2-1 in anfield. The game was a tough one and I really hope they will be in their best form throughout the season. Klopp's men are back from injury like Thiago Alcantara who's in charge of the reds midfield. The reds dominated the game both first and second half. The champions league game was fun to watch as we watch liverpool struggle to win their first game.

Manchester City also appears to be human. They went into halftime 0-0, but are now 0-1 behind at home against Dortmund. That's going to be a fun duel. Dortmund had good chances to qualify for the next round, and this potential win would help them immensely. PSG are 1-1 at Maccaibi Haifa, but we still have some time so I expect them to win. Rangers had a red card and Napoli seemed 0-1, but De var intervened and the goal was disallowed and so still a 0-0 score. Napoli would only come to 6 out of 2, a dream start but 4 out of 2 is not bad either.

Manchester City is in need of the champions league trophy. It will be a huge disappointment if Pep Guardiola fails to win the champions league this season, he's made final and semi-finals in the last two seasons. Anything short of first place this year is a failure. Ever since he left Barcelona, he has not been able to win the trophy If it were to be another manager, Manchester City would have sacked him considering the amount of money spent in assembling players.

Thats true! The champions league has no underdog  in this current football dispensation.
It's very strange to think like that because you can easily determine the favorite team to qualify for the next round if you look at the teams in different groups. If you don't agree with the weak team, then what do you think about Victoria Plzen, Copenhagen, Macabi Hafia and several other teams who are in the same group as the top teams?

It is true that sometimes weak teams can also win, but that is much less common when other top European teams are against them. This is not disrespect for a weak team qualifying for the Champions League, but this is a situation to judge the condition of the competing team. Favorite teams qualify for the next round more often than other teams that qualify through qualification or through their respective leagues.

Liverpool started badly but they won. Liverpool's midfield is the heart of this team. Thiago's recovery has been a great addition to the team. The game vision are top notch. Liverpool had no trouble setting up the game. Still needs a transfer to midfield. When Thiago is not in the team they have a hard time making a game. Ajax defense gave Liverpool a huge deficit in set pieces. Ajax actually made good use of the positions it found. Blind's shot was the breaking point of the match if there was a goal, the match would have ended differently. Lastly, I think Liverpool are also lacking in finishing. If they want to see the final in the Champions League they should come to their senses as soon as possible.

Maccabi 1:0 PSG   First Half Ongoing...

I have learnt long ago that there are no under dogs in champions league. If they qualify from their local league please give them their respect.  I was about to say that if Maccabi can hold PSG to a First half draw it will be a sign that there are no under dogs, before I could finish the statement Maccabi had already scored. It is now in the part of PSG to equalize.

Thats true! The champions league has no underdog  in this current football dispensation. We all saw what Dinamo Zagreb did to Chelsea and Chelsea is currently struggling to beat RB Saizburg. Although PSG has equalized but Maccabi  is curtailing the attacking power house of Mbappe, Messi and Neymar.

First half results:

Rangers vs Napoli 0-0
Chelsea vs Salzburg 0-0
Real Madrid vs Leipzig 0-0
Copenhagen vs Sevilla 0-0
Juventus vs Benfica 1-1
Macabi Haifa vs PSG 1-1
Manchester City vs Dortmund 0-0

ALL DRAW

Manchester City is in need of the champions league trophy.
They have never won it. And in the 2021 final, it was close, but still never won. The team this year has the quality for it and Pep wanting it for so long.
There is no hidden truth about that. You can say that Pep's primary focus right now, after winning 2 consecutive EPL trophy.  He needs the UCl to crown it up and maybe would take his career elsewhere but his been very unfortunate. He comes really close and gets to loose it everytime. I won't be surprised if this season turns out to be one of those season were he would be eliminated in the semi finals of the finals, its tradition.

Mean while, Chelsea have been particularly aggressive in this game.  There is a clear difference in the way they play both defensive and there attack. They don't just seem to have enough confidence in taking a shot. Always looking out for a clear chance and that's what the Salzburg team aren't giving them.

I felt that Dinamo played well enough today, but at this level mistakes are costly and they did make a few. Shame that they conceded so early on after the break.
The goal they scored was really nice, Petković's ball holding skills are world class. Unfortunately, Pobega's goal was as well.

Dinamo now has 2 games vs Salzburg, with the first one being away from home. If they manage not to lose, they will have a real chance of staying in European competitions even after the group stage - which would be a terrific achievement in such a difficult group.

There was plenty to do at Rangers - Napoli, especially in the opening phase. Rangers should have taken the lead after 30 seconds but the chance was wasted. Napoli also fired at the intersection. I thought we would at least see a goal, but at halftime it is 0-0. If Rangers still win this game, we will have 4 teams that all have 3 points. Liverpool will certainly qualify for the next round, but Ajax or Napoli in 2nd? I wouldn't dare say it. Ajax is better but Napoli have scored important points at home against Liverpool. City also still not able to score at the moment.
