First of all it is a visual pollution in image, just too many matches.  Tongue  The look of the group stage was much tidier but anyway... I'm just waiting for the matches now.

I think PSG have a really tough fixture ahead of them. Just look at it below.

Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal... 2 of them are away matches as well. This is where we are about to find out how strong PSG is after Mbappe. Yes, they have started the Ligue 1 impressively but we haven't seen the current lineup playing in a big match yet.

Fixtures aren't ready yet as far as I can see. Imagine PSG hosting Manchester City at the beginning already.  Grin
Well that's what I think too, because when I saw the draw results at first I felt quite dizzy when I saw it and I agree with you that it looked neater when it was still using the old format. However, this is part of the adjustment because we are not used to seeing the new format that is being implemented now. What is interesting is when we see that there will be many matches that bring together big clubs in the first phase, unlike before where there were only 2 or at most 3 big clubs that met each other in the group stage. Now we will be presented with big matches, that's what I think will be fun. And the other is where they can't take revenge because they will only meet once.  Grin

Over time, this new format will become commonplace and everyone will get used to watching their favorite team play 12 matches if they qualify for the final.
12 matches? No, they will play more matches.

Teams that finish the league phase in 1st to 8th place and qualify for the final match play 15 matches in total.
Teams that finish the league phase in 9th to 24th place and qualify for the final match play 17 matches in total.

Regardless of the new or old format, this certainly makes all teams have to maximize opportunities and minimize 1 match not to lose. What is clear is that the schedule is getting tighter, all players will be drained of energy. The slightest injury can have a big impact on the club's status for the next match.
Squad depth and quality will be a key factor in this new format of the competition because to avoid the tired legs and fatigue of players, coaches will need to involve in massive team rotation, and in this category is where teams like real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester city that have very good squad depth and quality players both on and off to pitch will thrive. The competition will be more competitive this time around and all coaches will be gearing up for it already.

The part where we are going to see big teams going against each other in the first round of the UEFA Champions League is actually what makes the new format very interesting if you ask me. The first time I saw how the new format, I was displeased with it as I thought it'll make the competition boring but considering the fact that we're now going to watch more matches as well see big teams clash against other big teams in the first round, I think we're likely to love the new format than the former.
As a Real Madrid fan, seeing that my club will have to play against big teams like Liverpool, AC Milan and even our last season UEFA Champions League final opponents Borussia Dortmund in the first round of the competition makes it more interesting
Each user has different assumptions and points of view regarding changes to the new format in the Champions League. I personally don't mind that because then I'll have more good matches to look forward to. The consequence of changing the Champions League format is basically about increasing the number of matches, to be precise 2 matches in the initial round because each team will play against 8 different teams.

Over time, this new format will become commonplace and everyone will get used to watching their favorite team play 12 matches if they qualify for the final. This is especially fun for big games, but games involving non-favorite teams are likely to be missed.

That is why this season teams with good squad depth will benefit because they will be able to rotate and maintain their performance. With the new format of UCL this season, the match schedule will be even denser, especially for clubs from England. This will make players vulnerable to injury and fatigue, making it difficult to show their best performance. Player rotation will be a very important thing that can determine the course of the match.
Player rotation is indeed important for every team, but the coaches of big teams such as the coaches of teams in the Premier League and also in the Spanish League must have prepared to welcome the new format this season so that they will continue to do their best even though it will be a bit different from last season because now each team must be able to adjust to a different format. But the big teams that already have strength through their mainstay players will still be good teams because they will not be weak just because of the new format this season.

Definitely a good thing that we are going to get some big teams playing against each other, it became a little bit boring when we are talking about something bigger, it wasn't something that we can agree with that easily, it is not going to be a fine situation and we need to do better.

Think about it, we have seen big clubs just destroy the smaller clubs in groups so far, which didn't make that much good tv, we still watched it, but I bet that when these big clubs play each other, there will be a lot more people tuning in. That means bigger audience, that means bigger tv rights deal, that means more tickets (or more expensive at least) and that means more merch sales for teams too.

These all point to making more money for every team and that is why I enjoy this new group stage system. Plus, you get to play two more extra games on top of all that, which means a lot more money too, and every team that joins this group stage, will make a lot of money and will do just fine.

League phase finally starts as of September 17.  Roll Eyes  Let's have a look at what the biggest title contenders are doing recently.

Real Madrid couldn't make a good start. 2 draws in the La Liga already against very weak teams like Mallorca and Las Palmas... They still don't look ready for this season.  Sad  But as we are still talking about Ancelotti's Real Madrid, we never know. He is a mastermind. For example they weren't playing incredible here last season but Ancelotti still found a way to win that trophy.

Manchester City... They look just fine. Guardiola's system works like clockwork in the PL as always. Seeing them in the Champions League finale wouldn't be any surprise.

Arsenal are favoured even more than Bayern Munich. But I didn't like them in the CL last season. I don't see it the same way.

And with this format will add to the increasingly dense game schedule which in previous seasons only played 6 matches for the group phase now they have to play 8 matches for each pot 1,2,3 and 4
16 out of the 36 teams will have to play 10 matches (4 matches more than the old format).
Teams finishing the league phase in 9th to 24th place will play two more games in the play-off round to advance to the round of 16.

-snip-On the other hand, if I'm not mistaken, each team will play 8 matches to determine their chances of advancing to the next round and I think it will drain the players' energy. But this must be tried so that we all know the good or bad with such a tight schedule starting this season.

Honestly, this new format looks interesting. All teams have the same chance to qualify for the next round. And this new format also tries to organize the match so that each club has a fair opponent. I can't decide yet whether the new format is better or the old format.

I myself actually prefer the old format, it's more exciting than the new Champions League format. Because with this new format of course it will break the players' concentration, besides having to play in the domestic league, sometimes they also have to defend their country. So with this new format the players will "work hard non-stop" the impact is that besides fatigue, the injury factor also haunts the players. However, we as football fans can only enjoy it. Cheesy
This new format is indeed disagreed by many but the era must change and we need to follow its development especially in the case of the biggest football like the Champions League. As the president of the Champions League said that this will challenge every club and he also joked a little by adding a little torture.  Grin

It's just a matter of time, over time we will definitely get used to this new format, for now we might be a little confused because the favorite clubs are placed in pot 1 and reportedly each club competes with an equal opponent so this will make clubs that were initially not too favored a little calm because they have not been met with deadly clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester City or Bayern Munich but make the favorite clubs a little stressed because they will compete with opponents who are quite difficult and this is certainly very interesting.

And with this format will add to the increasingly dense game schedule which in previous seasons only played 6 matches for the group phase now they have to play 8 matches for each pot 1,2,3 and 4 the coach must be good at rotating his players so that they do not get tired and risk injury.

The new format is a bit complicated for everyone, but we'll see how it works out. 8 games instead of 6 in a group stage is a good development and the fixture luck could be decisive for some teams.
At first glance, Celtic have a very good draw and Leipzig have one of the worst draws.
The AI projections showed that 7.6 points is enough to get into the top 24 and keep going, so teams that can win 2 and draw 2 -prefarably at home- will keep going. After the play-off round for teams between 9-24, it seems a bit tiring to continue from the last 16. It's going to be an interesting experience for all of us, whether it's good or bad we can't say for now though.
I've tried my possible best to summarize how the new format works but it's a been very complicated if I must confess but since this will be the first time it'll be used in the competition, I'm not too bothered. I believe we'll get familiar with the new format in no distant time and won't find it difficult to understand again. The only good thing I've known so far about the new format is the higher number if matches than the former format as it'll give football fans the opportunity of watching more matches in the club football's most prestigious competition.
Yes, that's right. Although this new format seems complicated because this is the first season using this format, but slowly we will also quickly understand this new format because we will get used to it. Because of course something new definitely needs adaptation so that the complexity of this new format will be easy for many people to understand, besides that on various social media there are many who educate about this new format.

What you said is true, for us as football fans, of course with this new format the Champions League will be more interesting and exciting to watch. However, for the players, this season's Champions League will be more tiring and of course drain the players physically and mentally. Personally, I am more interested in the old format because the players play without any burden, because the fewer matches will create the quality of the match itself.

Even in the new format, PSG is still in hell and it is no wonder that this team will find it increasingly difficult to win its first Champions League title. But I think it is not only PSG who feel this way but also the teams above will definitely be in danger and their chances of qualifying are also getting smaller.

On the other hand, this is not the time to talk about PSG who are no longer Mbappe considering that they have forgotten about that player and are only fully focused on the depth of the current squad. What is clear is that with or without Mbappe, the results will still be the same and it is not much different. There is no doubt that PSG will still fall even though they face Manchester City at home but if PSG are not ashamed they can use a full defense strategy to stop them. Tongue

Why do I feel like this new format favours the big teams more than the small teams? In the old format, the smaller teams in the group had to fight to get at least second so they could make it to the round of 16, but now the big teams will occupy the top 8 and when the teams in 9th to 24th position are paired for the play off, there is a bigger chance the big team will win. This is just a super league that involves all the top teams in Europe.

I like the format though. It means more interesting matches. We don't have to wait till the quarter-finals before we see clashes of big teams. Aside from the fact that the players have more matches to pay in a short period of time, I believe the format is better than the old one.
The new format will make the Champions League more competitive, if the teams you are referring to are struggling to compete with the stronger teams, they will have to work on improving their squads to qualify for the round of 16 or higher. In every competition, there are survivors and there are losers, any team will try to survive longer by showing their best performance. No one is benefited or disadvantaged in this format, if a small team feels objectionable to the format that has just been used this season, they should start making corrections by bringing in quality players.
UCL is the most prestigious league in Europe, football fans are eager to see something extraordinary happen here, this format will present more Big Matches compared to the previous format, strong teams must also be more vigilant with the increasing number of matches, if they are unable to maintain their performance due to the increasingly tight schedule, they will be eliminated sooner than expected.
They claim the new format levels the playing field. Extra games, more fun, right? Come on, Big guys still win. Eight league matches? Thats much soccer. Top teams can handle it with deep benches and great management. Rotating stars will keep them fresh and winning. Smaller teams will struggle. The resources and depth are different. Its a tough ask.

They may gain publicity and revenue. But can they keep up? Can they prevent harm? Can they surprise the world against the big boys? Thats difficult. This season might be intriguing. Cinderella stories and upsets are possible. Champions League is still for the big boys. Until smaller clubs match their depth and strategy, that wont change.

Teams need to adapt to new format even if it is complicated. Group stage now has 8 games instead of 6 which is good change. Some teams like Celtic and Leipzig got lucky or unlucky with their schedule. To move forward teams need to get at least 7.6 points so winning at home and drawing is important. But extra games and rounds might be tiring for teams. We will have to wait and see if this new format works well or not but it is definitely an interesting try that will keep us interested.
Of course this is a new way and for every team competing in the Champions must be able to adapt to this new style, I think this is very interesting with 8 matches but it is very difficult for the team to control the players so that they are not easily injured and lose their players in the club, this stage will be very beneficial for each team in finding points and playing up to eight meetings.

But I think this format will be very difficult to implement because it will drain time for the team playing in the Champions and will also have difficulty controlling the players because of fatigue due to the tight schedule, but this is a new journey we must give a good reaction even though later there will be cons of course with each club but this is their new way I think it will run by itself but at the beginning it will definitely be a little difficult and in the end they will enjoy it.

Actually at home Slavia Prague have good records for qualification stages because Slavia Prague is still unbeaten in the last 8 home matches but their opponent is Lille which is very strong so i doubt they can beat Lille today and for betting option i think both teams to scores or over 2.5 goals is good

Obviously Lille won in the end, this match was easy to predict, it's no coincidence that the bookmakers obviously gave Lille the win. I included this game in a multiple just to increase the multiplier a little. Unfortunately I thought they would win away from home too, it was very close if you want, 2-1 and Lille risked winning again.

Weaker teams have more opportunities to make surprises, shocks and succeed after one or some matches but if there are many matches, they will have less chance to beat stronger teams in a long competition. This new format can give weak teams more appearances in Champions League and can help them to get more income from television rights. However, this new format is not helpful for small and weaker clubs to go farther than with a previous format.

Stronger teams will dominate weaker teams and take most of tickets for going to a next phase with knock out matches. It is my prediction but we will see this new format's effects after the first phase of Champions League 2024 - 2025 season completes.
Facing a weak team will definitely be quite profitable because they can get a victory but sometimes in the Champions League is different because the team that is considered weak can beat a strong team. The weak team certainly does not benefit from the new format and also talk about the results of broadcast rights because usually this will have an impact on the strong team that has star players in it. The new format is also a little more benefited because the number of matches will provide an opportunity for a strong team to collect points.

Basically, the new format that begins to be implemented will not benefit the weak team and the features still have a much greater opportunity. The Champions League competition has become a place for clubs that have many star players and clubs that have a lot of money will more easily compete there, although to determine the champion is not the only reason.

the new match format will not change the situation much. the favorites are still teams that have players who can be rotated to maintain their team's performance. the teams that will have difficulty because of the tight match schedule are teams that do not have players with the same quality in the main squad and their substitutes. the coach's strategy will determine how the underdog teams can compete.

there are 8 matches for each team in the league phase. this system will bring together strong teams earlier. but will not be eliminated immediately because with the points system obtained all teams have a chance. a more interesting system for the Champions League this season. maybe there will be many surprises from the underdog teams.
