But I think this format will be very difficult to implement because it will drain time for the team playing in the Champions and will also have difficulty controlling the players because of fatigue due to the tight schedule, but this is a new journey we must give a good reaction even though later there will be cons of course with each club but this is their new way I think it will run by itself but at the beginning it will definitely be a little difficult and in the end they will enjoy it.

I don't know, you know, I still have to understand if I like this new format or not. The thing I noticed almost immediately is that we have many more games.
I don't know if that's good or bad honestly.
In any case, it gives teams the opportunity to return but with a very high cost in terms of energy spent: I don't know if it's really worth it.

Since the news about the new format of the Champions League has been circulating, to be honest I have not studied the detailed mechanism of the new format of the Champions League competition. However, if I try to review several teams, it seems that each team will play eight matches in the group phase, in short like that. Well, I don't know if this will be a polemic for the teams that are competing. But in my personal opinion, the most packed schedule is the Premier League team, because they also participate in several other competitions. So clearly, they need a lot of energy for this new format. However, if seen from another side, it seems that this is quite exciting and provides a different spectacle that we usually know in each season. So, each team will not meet twice in the group phase until they are confirmed to qualify for the last 16.

Gone are the days of playing it safe at home, coasting through group stages, and relying on those familiar pitches.
Biggest difference now is that teams won't know basically until the last game whether they are in top 8, so they will have to be more focused, unlike the old system when some secure 2nd round after 3 games. Anyway, gonna be interesting to see how it actually works in practice.

Just saw an interesting graphic that triies to show who had the best/worse draw and just confirms what we knew- that PSG got unlucky.

Over time, this new format will become commonplace and everyone will get used to watching their favorite team play 12 matches if they qualify for the final. This is especially fun for big games, but games involving non-favorite teams are likely to be missed.
I think the matches to be played are more than 12. The draw and grouping matches will be 12 while for teams that were able to qualify to the round of 16, the normal process of elimination will be in place. These new format is just to kill the idea of playing each teams home and away which is very ok because some teams are taking advantage of their home stadium and some referees do also give home advantages. Moreover, this new format will give the title to the best team because squad depth will be a key component in the competition because all the teams will also be playing their domestic leagues and the Champions League.
Gone are the days of playing it safe at home, coasting through group stages, and relying on those familiar pitches. This new structure will, believe me, help to differentiate the pretenders from the contenders. You are not hiding behind the home crowd or depending on those comfortable home strategies. Every squad has to bring their best, every time they set foot on the field.

This is going to be a coach's dream. There is no more playing it safe or consistent home-and-away patterns. Although initially it could appear a bit complicated, this will be the most fascinating Champions League season in years. With limited room for error, we will see the top teams in Europe facing head-to-head week after week.

I don’t view this new format in that sense. From the end of last season this new method has been proposed and all teams playing in the champions league already knew how the format is going to be, so they ought to have prepared well for it by now. Fatigue and rotation of players will be necessary if they’re employing this new format, so I expect them to have already tackled that. For unforeseen circumstances, they should be able to minimise it if they’ve already prepared for the new format. It won’t make them depreciated in performance if at all something happens to affect them during the course of the new champions league format.

Still with many top teams and don't forget the dark horse teams that will present a surprise in the champions league this season. I hope there is no gap that makes small teams feel sad when playing against big teams later. Of all these teams, there is one team from Slovakia, namely ŠK Slovan Bratislava, which will make its debut in the champions league which will also be in a new format.

On the other hand, if I'm not mistaken, each team will play 8 matches to determine their chances of advancing to the next round and I think it will drain the players' energy. But this must be tried so that we all know the good or bad with such a tight schedule starting this season.

If only playing 8 matches in this phase, does that mean there are no more home and away matches, is that so or not? Because I think, if there are no more home and away matches it seems no longer interesting, because what makes it interesting so far is about home and away matches. But, if only playing one match in this phase or 8 match like that, does that also mean the match will be played in a neutral area or not because at least, if in this phase they play home and away matches then at least they play 16 matches in this phase, I personally have not followed and found out.

This year in group stage each team will play 8 games against 8 different teams. 2 teams each from each of the 4 pots, one home and one away. in these eight games no games against clubs from the same nation, not more than two teams from the same nation.

in the group stage, there will be one single points table for all 36 teams. The top 8 will go to the last 16 directly. no 9-24 will play an additional round of home-away knockouts and the winners go to the last 16.

Too many matches for the players, but for the viewers there will be a lot of games to watch all through the season, so that's a plus. Which teams will be able to stay at the top 8? Definitely something to watch.

Actually, most of us are still wondering whether this format will be more effective than the previous format. What I also know now is that we will be presented with many big matches that occur in this league phase. There are many big teams that will meet each other and uniquely they will also have different opponents from the 8 matches they will play.
We have to be more patient to wait and see whether this format will be more interesting, because we can be said to be still trying out using this new format. I don't know what UEFA will consider if this gets a lot of criticism from many teams, whether they will continue it or return to the old format. I haven't heard anything about the future of this, maybe because we are still in the first season.

Holyshit!!! How unlucky Barcelona is. They meet many germany teams. And having Bayern Munich as their opponent on match day 3 is a disaster for them. Also, group stage is going on till Jan end is crazy. Their thin squad must be fighting harder with their fitness. And i guess, their injury rates are going to shoot up due to the new format of UCL.

They're gonna face Dortmund and Munchen, and these clubs are real tests for them.

It seems main and secondary teams would play key roles in helping a club reach the next stage.

I'm really curious when it comes to what PSG will do in the CL this season. Because you know, they have been much better since the departure of Mbappe. They have remembered who they were in fact.  Grin  Because in Mbappe's times, PSG were building up their game over him. This was a big obstacle for a strong teamwork.

But PSG are great so far in the season. I love to watch the new signing Joao Neves also. He has 4 assists already. All in all, I think they will carry this performance to the CL too.

Their matches are pretty tough ones. That's clear. But this will help us see how strong they are about dealing with tough competitors also.
T be honest for now indeed losing Mbappe does not have a big influence on PSG in ligue 1,  because without Mbappe, PSG was still able to score a lot of goals in their last two matches, but for the Champions League there seems to be no hope for PSG to go far this season, because their facing large and strong teams such as Atletico Madrid, Manchester City at home and Bayern Munich, Arsenal, PSV Eindhoven which will be an away match very difficult, so I think if the results of this season Champions League drawing not in accordance with the expectations expected by PSG now,  I don't intend to underestimate PSG, but in fact all this time they have not have a strong mentality to compete in the Champions League , So far we know that every club that competes in the Champions League needs a qualified squad and after losing Mbappe, I think their attacking line is no longer able to face a team that has a strong defense in the Champions League, especially so far they has  lost Ramos as their main striker because injured.

Arsenal consistently lacks the extra bit of winning mentality. The very core essential a champion club needs, that is what we have seen from them two seasons in a row, where they lost the league title to Manchester City.

Last year in UCL, they were pretty decent but went out in the knockouts without making it too far. I think they can't blame their team quality anymore, as they have good players all over the pitch after recent transfers. They also have very good squad depth in all areas of the pitch, bar the forward.
It is not like math but Arsenal need to win Premier League before they are able to win Champions League. Winning Champions League is harder than winning Premier League and Arsenal must achieve an easier thing first, that is winning Premier League. There is chance to win Champions League for them, even they did not win Premier League, but it's small.

Winning Premier League will help their players experience feeling of a champion and on top, that can help to increase their mentality and play better in Champions League against other champions from other leagues.
Actually there is nothing easy to win the trophy, if it's easy maybe from the beginning Arsenal have got it many times. But when talking about fierce competition, UCL is more difficult while in EPL only Man City and Liverpool will be Arsenal's obstacles in winning the trophy. The Gunner has been waiting for this moment for a long time while at UCL I still haven't seen a great opportunity for them to lift the trophy.

Arsenal have made changes to the squad but not significant changes. Almost 20 years have passed since we saw them win the Champions League title in the 2005/6 season and in those 20 years their achievements in the Champions League have been almost nil. This generation of them definitely wants a Champions League trophy. A new season of Champions League will start very soon and there are high expectations for Arsenal but like every time I think Arsenal will focus only on Premier League they will not focus much on Champions League. As many times they have come very close to winning the Premier League title and lost, they have to give more importance to the Premier League tournament as well as the Champions League tournament, although it will be difficult for them but they should do it.
Arsenal is the only one big four of Premier League team never winning UEFA Champion League trophy and most success achievement qualified until final round on season 2005/06 but defeating by Barcelona.
Actually Arsenal performance keep consistent last two season in domestic league and success pressure Manchester City waiting until the last game week become the winner but their performance inconsistent when playing in Champion League.

New UEFA Champion League format, Arsenal seems not face difficult opponent team and secure all three points of eight matches have opportunity get qualifying to knock out round. Considering the eight teams have to face in league phase round I think only PSG and Inter Milan are difficult opponent teams but have advantage with home match when facing PSG. I think Arsenal easily secure three points when facing Atalanta, Shakhtar, Sporting and AS Monaco.

The fact that we are going to see teams from the same pot playing each other too, means that there will be some big games on the season as well and that's a good thing, I really like that situation and could make a good result out of this because betting is a lot better this way.

Plus, instead of betting on six games, now we are going to bet on eight games and that's the important part, I am sure that it will be a good one and we are going to benefit from this very much so. I know that a lot of people still doubt Real Madrid because of how bad they started the season, but I am sure that they are still the leading candidate, City and Madrid are always the leading candidates, it is going to be either one of those teams, and if it is not and if some other team wins it then it is going to be a big shock and I would very much find that entertaining but also annoying from betting perspective as well. Lets see how it will go on, it should be a fine season to watch.

Do you mean that this new format they won’t be playing against each other in their home stadium? Just like the home and away matches they use to play? If that’s it, how comes the matches to be played are up to 12 in the first round of the game even when they have been grouped. How many are they grouped in order to get the total number of matches to be played. I’m kind of confused more on this, it needs clarification. When the new format begins, we will all get to know how the format is going to be for all and get use to them overtime.

A strong team and with a squad depth of substitute players owned by a particular team will be very important because the large number of games will give the team the opportunity to rotate. The problem is that the Champions League is not the only competition that is followed and if a player gets injured and there are no good substitutes it will affect the results. That is why teams that have top players and have good substitutes will have their own advantages.
I think it all depends on whether or not the players in the team are injured besides the better substitutes when the team rotates. Because from the new format it has been seen that each team does need to keep their players fit and not injured so that they can play well and not make the team's performance decline due to fatigue and injury. There are indeed several teams that have good squad depth in the Champions League this season, but I think every team should not be underestimated as long as the match is in the Champions League because all abilities will always be poured out here.

They tried hard to find a striker/LW, but they were unable to do so, but apart from that, what a team they got. Quality wise, definitely top 3 in the Premier League.
Rumor is they are trying to bring Osimhem from Napoli to their club but there is very limited time left for them to complete this transfer. If they can not have Osimhen, they will continue this season without a world class striker.

the champions league brings together the best teams in their respective domestic leagues, therefore arsenal must fight to bring out their full strength if they want to achieve success in this year's champions. we see in the two seasons in the EPL arteta's team has improved and made them a candidate for the premier champion but has always been taken by man city, most people think arsenal does not have a champion mentality and i agree with that arsenal must have it if they want to be a respected club in the champions league. this season they have the opportunity to prove it all and honestly i hope arsenal can surprise us all in the champions league.

I honestly feel for the Arsenal club and always wonder why they are always failing to take the Champions league even at periods they could have taken it, they in fact become weaker in their performance. Mikel Arteta seems to be a steady manager for the club and could soon be seen with the respect given to Sir Arsene Winger if he can surprise us and cast out the spell that always stop Arsenal from taking the Champions league. Unlike in the past, the competition have increased as many small clubs are now taking a new shape to be stronger and thicker for bigger challenges. It could be even tougher this season for Arsenal but not as much if they could strategize themselves properly.

I saw last season of EPL as a swift move to take the championship because Guardiola is always strategic in his approach to games and scenarios. Arsenal made slight mistakes who cost them big lost last season, one of which was their lost to Aston Villa. Coincidentally they've met again this season and Arsenal already lashed them two to none. I hope the evil spirit that always hunts Arsenal's chances to take the Champions league trophy doesn't catch up with them this tournament. Lol.

Arsenal consistently lacks the extra bit of winning mentality. The very core essential a champion club needs, that is what we have seen from them two seasons in a row, where they lost the league title to Manchester City.

But if they want to win trophies, their mentality has to come a long way, as they tend to lose their nerve when they have to learn to control games as they wish in the long term. In both of the last two seasons, they had flying starts, but as time went by, the grip on those games got a bit worse.

After a long absence in the UCL last season, Arsenal reached the quarter-finals. Meraka lost narrowly to Munich 0-1. This season I think they have better players. They should be able to compete and be better than last season. The management's trust in Arteta has brought improvement. Aretata is given a lot of money to spend, I think they are a team that has a chance to enter the semifinals this season.

Arteta certainly learned from the mistakes of 2 seasons. Furthermore, if Arteta fails, Arsenal should also give a warning, because Arteta has been with Arsenal for quite a long time and Arteta's transfer policy always has management support.
Arsenal's performance this season will be better than last season when they give more importance to the Champions League tournament. I think if they have to change the Premier League competition plan a little while giving more importance to the Champions League tournament then they should because it's been a long time since they won the Champions League title. The big teams that are in the Champions League will not be Arsenal's opponents beforehand, so it is possible to win against the relatively small teams if they play according to the right plan. If the top five teams for the Champions League were to be made, Arsenal's name would be there, but Arsenal would have to perform better.
Arsenal have experienced a tremendous improvement in their squad so we can count on them in the Premier League as title contenders, while in the Champions League, of course after the 2005/06 season we no longer see any proud achievements for Arsenal in the Champions League so far, Arsenal have been a team that has consistently ended the season in the top 4 of the Premier League and continues to be able to qualify for the Champions League, But so far I see that their qualification to the Champions League is nothing more than as a team that complemented the previous 32 clubs, last season Arsenal had a pretty good performance and even they were able to put up a tough fight against Manchester City in the domestic league but what we saw in the Champions League last season was the opposite of their performance in the premier league,  Many people predict that their will go far in the Champions League, especially at that time their opponent is Munich who has a pretty bad performance in the league but in fact we can see that Arsenal mentality in the Champions League is still very small, so it makes me doubt if this season they can be surprise us in the Champions League.

The drawing of the Champions League today has started and for those of you who want to see it live can be through the UEFA streaming site:  UEFA STREAMING

I think maybe the most troublesome opponent later will be Inter and as we remember, the two last met in the 2023 Champions League final and this will be proof again who is the strongest. In addition, maybe Juventus is also worth considering, especially under Thiago Motta's guidance, they are starting to show promise. I forgot PSG because they are not a strong enough opponent for Manchester City.

Manchester City is very lucky with the kind of matches they will be having both the champions League and premier League, however the good thing about it is that wining all those matches will give them the chance of moving very higher on the champions League but however among those matches the only two matches that would give them a tough time should be the Inter Milan and PSG because they are the only two clubs that seem stronger than the remaining clubs but still I believe that Manchester City will possibly emerge as the winner on those matches because PSG is not that strong to win Manchester City considering the level of experience strikers like Kelvin de Bruyne, haaland, foden, Jeremy Doku and so many others have.

However if there is any club that can possibly hold Manchester City among the two I think Inter Milan should be the one because they have proven to be reliable on this season but Pep Guardiola will not allow anything to stop them from wining those matches and also another club that would have tried is Juventus but there constant depreciation in performance has removed them from competing with clubs like Manchester City.

It will take time to get used to the new format. Most people could not understand the logic of the new format. More competitive and different matches will be waiting for us now. No one will be able to say that we will win the match at our home field like in the past, every match will be very valuable and we will be able to see the home advantage very clearly especially in the matches between strong teams and weak teams.
I hope it will be more entertaining this way, we can see results that will be worth the change of the system that has been the same for years
The new format is in Swiss type and it's a first time it is applied in Champions League. I don't understand it even I did not spend much time reading about it as with time and matches, practically observe Champions League can help me gradually understand it better. There will surely many discussions on this new format a long this season that can help me as well.

In my opinion, this new format destroys a balance of home and home away matches. It can be unfair for some clubs if draw results are not good for them with given opponents in home and home away matches. Maybe this format won't last too long if it gets too many complains in coming months and years. Like golden goal was canceled after a first tournament with this rule in France 98.
