Sometimes football just isn't fair and i think that was proven again in the match of Ajax vs Benfica yesterday. Ajax completely dominated the game, especially in the first half and they had a lot of good opportunities to score or to at least create a a very big chance to score but they also were a little to delighted from their own game and often times tried to play the extra difficult pass instead of just going for the goal in the easiest and most efficient way. So in the end it was Ajax own fault too of course. Then Benfica got a free kick of which i think that in 9 out of 10 times the referee won't give a free kick in that situation and of course then Benfica made the goal out of that. Unlucky Ajax.

I actually didn't think Atletico Madrid would be able to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford yesterday. Manchester United looked very promising in the match against Tottenham where they won thanks to 3 goals from Ronaldo. It made me think that Manchester United would win that match against Atletico Madrid, but unfortunately Manchester United's performance was not as expected.

For tonight's second leg I think Chelsea will easily qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals after winning the first leg 2-0. Chelsea are the favorites in this match and they will ensure it with a win regardless of whether Lille can score at home. If Chelsea really can qualify, then there are 3 Premier League teams that to the quarter-finals after previously Manchester City and Liverpool.

Manchester United need some terrible seasons to do serious rebuild in their club. If they have acceptable results, they will hesitate to make serious changes and in long run it will be barriers for the club.

Ajax controlled the match at their home stadium but they wasted too many opportunities and unfortunately at late of the match, Benfica scored a decisive goal. After that, it is too late for Ajax to find an equalizer goal.

Manchester United did have a bad match and they have different performance than Ajax. They are more deserved with their lose than Ajax. Sancho has a very good chance to score but his volley is over the goal bar. In general, Manchester United did not control the match and create too many opportunities like Ajax.

It was a really awful day for Manchester United - Ajax duo. These were my favourite teams to qualify for the quarter finals in the tournament. But directly the opposite of this happened last night. Ajax gave their best in their Benfica game in Amsterdam but it was all in vain. Because they were very incapable of scoring even a goal. And I don't know how but somehow Benfica managed to win this very difficult match by 1-0. And they are in the quarter finals now. And Manchester United had a huge problem on scoring even a goal also. And their defense was bad as always. Atletico Madrid found the goal first and we know how they are good at defending an advantage. They did exactly that and moved on to next round.

I lost my money in this match. I kept my money for Ajax's victory. Ajax played well in the first leg. However, the match was drawn 2-2. Despite Ajax's good performance in today's match, they could not win. I would say Benfica's tactics were good and they were lucky enough. Benfica has made only 4 shots in the entire match. They played totally defensively.

Manchester United's defeat because of Ralf Rangnick did not change strategy and also in the second half, if you look at Atletico's game throughout the match they played half the field which only relied on good opportunities to counterattack. And besides that Atletico are often confused when they get the ball and want to pass it in front of no players and several times the ball is simply kicked forward aimlessly.
Atletico prioritized defense and also put pressure on all of Manchester United's attackers making it difficult to score goals, plus Jan Oblak played very well in securing the goal.
I think Manchester United played very well and also had the ball but the coach couldn't use it and also change it to score goals because actually they were able to equalize, and if that happens I'm sure in extra time or on penalties Manchester United will win.

Chelsea will undoubtedly win this match. Lille's performance is very poor. Especially their forwards are weak. Their performance in Ligue 1 is poor. They can't be stable. It was such a shocking night for Ajax and Manchester United. I really didn't give any chance to lose for Ajax here. It was like a miracle to me. This is football of course and everything can happen. But Ajax have always seemed to be a very strong team in their home matches. In fact, they played really good here but somehow couldn't score even one goal. Benfica were struggling a lot and didn't find many chances as well. They had only 4 shots in total and 1 of them was on target. And still, they managed to win this by 1-0 and advanced to next round. And as for Manchester United, they were the victim of their defense problems once again and this cost them the Champions League.

I agree the Ajax vs Benfica match was much more shocking than the Man United vs Atletico match. Because I saw Ajax's performance was quite good
when they played in the first leg, so Ajax should have played at home much better. But Ajax's front line appeared very disappointing, even though quite
a lot of kicks were made by Ajax players, even Ajax dominated the match. But there wasn't a single goal that could be created by Ajax, they wasted
too many chances, and surprisingly Benfica attacked more effectively and in the 77th minute Darwin Nunez became Benfica's hero by scoring the winning
goal. I think Ajax are more worthy to qualify for the next round, but football is often a surprise, it turned out that Benfica had qualified for the next round.

What I regret in this match is only one thing, namely their back line which is still chaotic even though it has been heavily criticized.

In the end I made the right choice for Atletico and actually for Benfica too, but before the match started I saw the odds were very different and it was like something the bookies knew so I finally changed my choice to Ajax. But in the end, they just capitalized on the first goal and then defended it really well. I have said this before about Ajax. Great team to watch but they are always giving one the impression of young and inexperienced and weak. I know it sounds like an insult but do not worry,,, I also call my own team the same. Spurs and Ajax play so great when they are confident. Put them a goal down and everybody loses steam.

It's a shame for Manchester United because they couldn't qualify for the next round and all attacks didn't produce good results even though the Manchester United players had tried to attack as well as possible.
