Real Madrid didn't get a very comfortable win against Shakhtar Donetsk last night. They won 2-1 but it was a really competitive match. And it was definitely Benzema's night as he scored two goals and had a big role in the win. This was not the only thing important. He scored Real Madrid's 1000th goal in the Champions League in this match also. Real Madrid are the first team which scored at least 1000 goals in this tournament now.

Yes, I also found this game dangerous on the part of Real Madrid, since they had to secure themselves with a more comfortable advantage than one goal. But thanks to Benzema, everything ended well. By the way, if we talk about statistics, then in the next season (or by the end of this) Benzema will bypass Raul in the total number of goals scored for Real Madrid. Only Ronaldo will be ahead  Cool

Everyone taking note and complementing benzema, who noticed Vinicius junior last night, the Brazilian is such a big talent.
Providing two assist to benzema in the game.
David Alaba was solid as well, although the visitors had one at the back of the net, he's gradually making everyone forget they had Sergio Ramos in that team.

I put a highly ambitious Betbuilder on this game, most of the boxes should be ticked off already. Now only need Salah to score, not let Atletico score last and get 5 more corners so I hope we don't slam the brakes like we did against United.
I hope your bet wins, I just think might Liverpool might be cautious with the number of games they've dropped points after leading this season, but having a man advantage would likely change the approach come second half.

Ajax are playing their worse game of the season in the UCL so far this season, I would have fancied them to cause an upset tonight, but it looks as though that wouldn't happen, despite having a man advantage over Dortmund, but Dortmund are doing a great job, being very disciplined at the back.

Nah, didn't win. 2 legs too many. Interesting is all the boxes were ticked in first half, and I was ONE corner short and ONE Salah goal short, or it would have been an interesting 17/1 win. We totally let off the gas pedal towards the end, as you said, we're being more cautious now after taking a lead, Klopp has been fuming about our lack of "professionalism" at closing out games.

Ajax worse game rescued by the best 15 minutes of football they played in that game eh?

As far as I can see, Besiktas are one of the worst teams this season in the CL. In four matches played, they scored only 2 goals and conceded 12 goals. They are the second worst team in terms of goal average. Malmo are the worst one as they scored none and conceded 12 goals. It is really worrying to see Besiktas performing like Malmo despite having a really capable squad.

Liverpool is certain to qualify for the next phase. It's been a very good performance from the Reds so far. Being in a pretty tough group, they were able to get past all opponents without anyone beating them in 4 matches. Meanwhile, AC Milan can only wait for a miracle to be able to play at UEL. I'm not sure they can beat ATM or Liverpool.
All the teams in Group E were strong. AC Milan and Porto and Atletico Madrid, all three teams are strong. However, Liverpool's excellent performance has enabled them to advance to the next round. I thought Atletico Madrid and Liverpool would go to the next round. But Atletico Madrid's qualification is still uncertain. They have to win against Porto, as well as draw with AC Milan.
Basically, if Atletico want to qualify for sure, Atletico must win in the next two matches, but if Atletico can only win one and draw one, then it depends on what kind of results Porto can achieve. The rivalry for these two teams will continue until the end, but about Milan I'm not sure they will try to win because their mission in Serie A seems to be more important and is Milan's main focus at the moment. A draw against Porto at least is already determined, Milan will be eliminated in this phase, because if Milan has big ambitions then I believe Milan will win last night's match because for the remaining matches against Atletico and Liverpool, it is difficult for Milan to get full points.

I also thought that Liverpool and Atletico will be the ones to qualify but things are not in favor of Atletico so far. AC Milan seems like they are already out so one of Madrid or Porto will qualify.  They might be able to win against Porto and also maybe Milan, as well as Milan, are playing not that well in CL.

Liverpool still are one of the teams that I love watching in the Champions League a lot now. They had a game against Atletico Madrid home last night. And I was definitely favoring Liverpool to win this game too.
Liverpool are one of best teams in Europe this season. They are strong and balancing between defense and attack. The return of Van Dijk helps to improve the quality of their defense that in turn improves general results for them.

In the last season, they managed to do well without Van Dijk in a few months before they lost control and only were able to come back at very last matches in Premier League.

It's hard to say but I think Liverpool won't have an easy match against Atletico.

I really enjoyed Liverpool's easy win over Atletico yesterday. That team really annoys me, they are so compact and mentally resilient that you cannot relax for a second. They had a man down (wasn't really a red card IMO) and were 2-0 down and nearly got back in the game with that deflected goal that was marginally ruled offside. At 2-1 they would have given us a proper game.

In other games, Ajax won against Borussia again. Borussia started with 2 wins and is now in a bad position, their next game is away at Sporting and will probably directly decide who goes through.
This Ajax Coach is something else. They have beaten Borussia Dortmund home and away and are playing like they are very good. I think i am beginning to think they know how to humiliate big teams and i was seen them do it against Real Madrid, Juventus, Tottenham and now Dortmund. This shows that Ten Hag is working wonders at Ajax. I remember when his 2019 team got dismantled both Center backs got sent off against Chelsea and he managed to progress later on. No club has created more chances in the Uefa champions league. When through to the UCL knockout stage with 100% record. He is Playing total football. How he has managed to turn Haller into a deadly striker and it is something we don't know about. He has only lost one away game in the UCL as Ajax manager.

Honestly looking at the current AC Milan qualifying scenario, it seems unlikely but if it happens it will certainly be spectacular in my opinion, now AC Milan are required to win in their last two matches, and hope Porto only get one point from their last two matches, and at least they must win from athletico by two goals difference, in my opinion even though it is unlikely to qualify for the last 16 or at least play in UEL but it does not rule out the possibility that Milan can repeat the miracle that happened like atlanta two years ago.

~snip~

But I must say that the ajax game gave me the chills, it was a game where I was sweating because if they lost I would lose my multi just when other teams were guaranteed to win, luckily ajax won
I don't think Ajax will win, I believe strongly in Dortmund going to win. But I was wrong, Dortmund became Ajax's delicacy. Even if you look at the statistics Ajax dominate possession. Maybe it's because of Mats Hummels' red card. Mats Hummels got a red card in the 29th minute, since then Dortmund like losing the direction of play. Ajax managed to make 600 more successful passes. Very far from Dortmund who only 200 more passes. Next they have to win against Sporting CP to qualify in second place.

And I was definitely favoring Liverpool to win this game too. And they didn't surprise me by making the score 2-0 in the first 21 minutes of the game also. Atletico Madrid got a red card in the 36th minute and this nearly ended their hopes of turning the game around. In the beginnings of the second half, Suarez still scored a goal but it was cancelled due to offside. And the final result was 2-0. Liverpool were already dominating the game before the red card so not much thing changed after that too.  Grin

Dortmund - Ajax game last night was another disappointment for the Dortmund side unfortunately. Hummels was shown a red card in the 29th minute and very tough minutes started for Dortmund after that. But surprisingly, they still managed to get ahead by the Reus' penalty goal in only 8 minutes. And they kept the score at 1-0 for a really long time too. But still, Ajax scored three goals in the last 20 minutes and won the game by 3-1. After this result, Ajax have guaranteed qualifying for the next round. Dortmund are still in danger as they have the same points as Sporting in the group now (6 pts).

That red card was the turning point of the game in my opinion. Hummels is a very important player in Dortmund's defense. His getting the red card and Dortmund being 10 men cost them the match. I was expecting them to win the game, maybe they would have as well if the red card didn't take place. Dortmund was able to somewhat hold Ajax off but they collapsed at the end. Dortmund will really need to win the next couple of matches in order to qualify.

In reality so far, my prediction about Sheriff Tiraspol is correct, because Madrid and Inter have a high winning mentality so a comeback for them is something for sure. It was evident how Sheriff Tiraspol was crushed at home with Inter's 3-1 win, I personally am not surprised by that result because I firmly believe it will. With such a position, I think clearly Sheriff Tiraspol will certainly remain in third place and the current position in the standings seems to have been a definite position until the end and that is in line with what I expected.

I agree with you that Sheriff Tiraspol was defeated 3-1, not surprisingly. Sheriff may not be the weakest team, but they are weaker than Real Madrid and Inter Milan. Maybe they played well and won two matches. However, they will not be able to qualify for the next round. From Group D, Real Madrid and Inter Milan will qualify for the next round.

You are right and the first game made it clear after inter won against sheriff they gained that champions league confidence again especially when they did not qualify last year i think that motivated them more plus the difference between the two teams was big and i think sheriff team was a bit lucky in the first games since the opposition dominated both of them.
