Yep. Only a few hours left and fans are already taking over city of Porto with beers and chants so I'm expecting a high rising temperature in the stadium and I do hope that fans will make the game more attractive than it will be.

Like I said in my previous posts, I will choose to have Extra time and Penalties because I'm neutral fan in this game and I just enjoy football.

only a matter of hours we will watch the final match of the champion league season, and for us this is one of the fun entertainments during the pandemic  Grin.
Today, of course, both teams will give their best to win the 2020/21 champion league trophy.
I support chelsea to win tonight with a score of 1-0 over manchester city.
what about your predictions guys?

the only position I'm unsure of is in defensive midfield between Fernandinho and Rodri, who do you guys think will start between the two of them, or will they both start the game?
I think Rodri will start. Pep has relied on him throughout the league, I don't expect that to change in the most important match of the season. Fernandinho is almost 37 years old and his best days are behind him.

I am more concerned about the attack of Man. City and how that is going to look. Will he feature a side with Jesus and Steerling or continue with what he did against PSG where he didn't have a proper striker from the start and played with Mahrez and Foden upfront?
I don't think Rodri will start , I still feel he has not paid for his last  mistake when they faced Chelsea in their last encounter and whats scary  about this match is Chelsea has beaten City twice in the last month and getting to meet again would affect their
psychology.

In other news Gundogan ruled out after clashing  with fernandinho while training but as you all know City has plenty of options.

I think Manchester city will be the boss team going into this final, with their last match ending in a trashing to their opponent on the last English premier league season day, while Chelsea lost but still were in 4th, with favours from Tottenham.
This match can be a contest where maybe both teams trade it out till the penalties, or one team just keep making the other teams final dreams a night mare they want to end, regardless am expecting much excitement form Manchester city and Chelsea. Who I think would win? Am going for Chelsea, no reason just how I feel.

Pep Guardiola is unpredictable in important matches with his weird idea. Sometimes, it works but sometimes Pep got side effects and lost important matches.
Pep hasn't really brought on the tinkering side of him too much this season, he found out what his strongest side is early enough, and he has been using it to win ever since then, thus I see no reason to change or tweak things. This is the biggest match in City's history as a club and pep will love to enshrine his name in City's history books, that will make him pretty careful tonight in his team selection and tactics, in my opinion, we'll see exactly the same team that eliminated PSG, the only position I'm unsure of is in defensive midfield between Fernandinho and Rodri, who do you guys think will start between the two of them, or will they both start the game?

This is the first Champions League final for Manchester City.
Admittedly, the fact was new to me. Can't believe that this is really only the first Champions League final for ManCity. If you think about how much money they have invested in the last 10-15 years, with the main goal of winning the CL, then that is really a poor performance.
It a dream come true for Man City despite all the money spent back then and by looking online for people predictions about the tomorrow final alot of people believe this is a winning game for Man City which I also support it and i will be glad if they win cause I was hoping Pep will give the club a new record.
Yes, there is no problem with money being spent because the UCL final is the final that all football players dream of possible. So yeah, it doesn't matter with the money spent because City are a big team that has grown bigger so far after all, so there is no problem with money for a team as big as City. With them continuing to be successful and being at the top, then it will all provide many advantages and benefits can be obtained in many sectors.
Not everything in this world is decided by money, but still money decides a lot Wink I am not sure that without the previous generous cash injections, Manchester City would have been so competitive and stood one step away from winning the Champions League title, another question is that you need the patience of the management, faith in the result and banal luck. Remember the situation with Chelsea, when Roman Abramovich's colossal spending on the club did not lead to a win, and the desired victory occurred in a season when this victory was not particularly expected. A similar situation is happening with Paris Saint-Germain, when all this money spending gave the long-awaited final only last year and still did not lead to winning the Champions League.
Hahay, UCL final is something every footballer dream of but I believe AndySt was right though because we have seen alot of executives spent so much on their football club which leads to no better result so money spent that's not put into tangible work is like spending nothing.
Therefore, I will commend the Man City management for doing spectacular jobs.

I think the management of Manchester City has spent nearly 924.9 million euros to strengthen its team during Pep Guardiola's training in Manchester City, with that much money of course it's only natural that now Manchester City can become one of the most powerful clubs in the English League and also the Champions League , and we can be sure if Pep Guardiola currently has a huge burden to be able to win the Champions League trophy for Manchester City in the final later, to pay for the trust of Manchester City management who have spent that much money to buy  players.
I don't know how you did the money estimation of the money Man City spent ever since Pep Guardiola took over the club management job in the year 2016 but as at February of this year, the club spent over £500 Million and was said to have spent nearly £2 billion in the last 20years so they can't spend the amount you said within 5years.

this is what i'm going with. Wish me luck!

about the match, i feel like whoever scores the 1st goal will lift the trophy. I can see the opposing side crumbling and panicking as soon as they concede. Just imagine, the trophy slowly fading away as you try to look for the equalizer but you don't realize you're leaving open spaces in the back and then outta nowhere you're 0-2 or 0-3 down...yeah, imo you concede the first one and it will all go downhill from there

Bookmakers are favoring City mainly cos of the EPL head-to-head, but if you take into consideration the lack of experience in a final from both teams, the tremendous pressure they'll feel today and how nervous they must be, the match suddenly turns into a 50/50 coin toss. Gonna be fun to watch as a neutral (kinda, i want chelsea to win lol)

City never played in a final but got so close so many times so I don't think it's a factor any longer.
i think it is. Psychologically, it is a huge factor not knowing what is like to play in the big stage of the CL. A semi final is a 2-leg tie, the final is a 90 minute sprint where a single mistake like you said could cost you an entire season of hard work.
But I do agree about the chelsea odds being good, and the +0.5 handicap at 2 odds boosted is also pretty nice 👍

Today is the European Final, with an English taste.
Chelsea aspires to win his second title in this tournament .and City in front of the dream of the first title.
we have seen 2 English sides in a Champions League Final just two times before last was when Liverpool beat Tottenham 1-0 back in 2019 and Manchester United defeated Chelsea 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra-time in 2008.
I'm expecting City to be the one on top here, Its true that Chelsea won City two times before this season but, the citizens didn't show full strength in both of these matches as they didn't rely on their on their best 11 in those encounters.
This time will be City turn that is what Pep was working for all this time.
I don't want another Champions League final will be decided by penalties. When money becomes more important in football, and Chelsea & Manchester City are one of richest clubs in the Europe, matches for Champions League final will very hard to be played for entertainment.

Each team in the final will want to win the final and they will try to not lose at least. So penalty shots can occur in the coming final. If the match will be going on to penalty shots, I wish luck to Chelsea. It is unfair if they lose their second final matches in penalty shots.

Pep Guardiola is unpredictable in important matches with his weird idea. Sometimes, it works but sometimes Pep got side effects and lost important matches.

I'm almost certain that most people believe Chelsea is the loosing side today. So much tension in the air already on what the outcome would be and Chelsea fans can only wish because, the team doesn't seem to have what it takes to actually contest for a final, UCL final at that with Manchester City and win. Well, I'm scared for Chelsea but I desire them to win tonight. Let London be blue again.

I think the outcome of today's final is completely open. Maybe Mancity has the slightly stronger squad but chelsea is also in very good shape and tuchel has managed to get the best out of every chelsea player.
It is also a pretty special match because thomas tuchel is a huge fan and admirer of pep guardiola. Back when guardiola was coach of bayern munich and thomas tuchel was coach of mainz, tuchel asked guardiola if they could meet to talk about football-tactics and philosophies.
They then met in a restaurant in munich and talked extensively about football.

Indeed, Chelsea has more experience in the UCL final than Manchester City but I don't think that can be used as a benchmark at this point in time. Times, players, coaches and staff have changed a lot
Thank you. This is the point I wanted to draw to our notice. Experience in this contest is not about the club but, the coach and the players. The clubs don't carry these experiences but the players and coach do. So, there isn't a way we could bank on that for Chelsea. If we are to look at experience here, it would be between Pep and Tuchel. We all know what the comparison would be.

@hahay yeah I always believe experience helps a huge amount especially in finals. Liverpool vs Real in 2019 showcased that and the learning they got from that helped propel them to the eventual win later on. City never played in a final but got so close so many times so I don't think it's a factor any longer.

Chelsea on the other hand have a current squad almost never got this far... I am still backing them but only as a neutral not liking either team... And can't ignore 5/1 odds on the Blues.

Tight game but it won't go to penalties. Mistakes will decide the winner I feel.

The odd do not necessarily mean anything. If we remember Europa League recent final Manchester United was at 1.90 odd but the game was won from Villareal with odds over 4.5 although through the penalties and that means that the odds that really won was the draw at almost 3.8 odd.Tonight is just a game and although City is the stronger team in a single game anything can happen and even Chelsea can win the game.Chelsea has a bit more of experience when it comes to Champions League finals so this is in their advantage tonight.
I will not be surprised to see Chelsea win the European Champions League final, though Man City really tried this time around and would want to win their first UCL title, but Chelsea has more experience in playing it than Man City. Anyone one of them can win it though, but because of experience, Chelsea has more chances to win it. But what is now confusing me to doubt is the fact that both of them have been playing together as usual because they are from EPL, this is another thing to also talk about. But as for me, I go for Chelsea though.

About Man United and Villarreal Europa final, nobody won the match, it was draw, then penalty was played, and Villarreal won with penalty. Anyone that bet draw on gambling sites are the one that won the bet because penalties are not counted as part of a game, only 1st to 90th minute are counted.
Indeed, Chelsea has more experience in the UCL final than Manchester City but I don't think that can be used as a benchmark at this point in time. Times, players, coaches and staff have changed a lot and with these changes the past has only become an encouragement for the players. But unfortunately if we talk about experience, is Pep still inexperienced in the UCL Final and I don't think so but indeed, this is not just about odds and experience because there are at least other factors that make City truly the favorites at this moment.

If the game is extremely balanced, over the 90 minutes. And then in extra time, there are also no goals.
Who do you think wins on penalties?

Man City has one of the best goalkeepers in the world, will it be an advantage in this scenario?

Statwise for the last couple of months or so Mendy is better and could be considered a top 3 goal keeper at the moment.  Before anybody laughs, Trofo and coinlocket I know you’re there prolly smiling as you read this, I said ‘statwise for the last couple of months.’.

There’s a thin line between saving penalties and good goalkeeping in-game. Some Goalkeepers are specialist in penalties. It could be skill in the form that some goalkeepers are better for penalty kicks than others. Mendy has been faced with 26 penalties in his entire playing career, and he’s managed to have saved only two. While Ederson, 46 and has saved 7. Ederson seem better at penalties than Mendy with this statistic.

The Europa League final ended after penalties. I think we could see the same here in the Champions League also.
It is possible but it seems to not happen. Even if both Man City and Chelsea have good defenders, I am sure they will surprise one another in the final match. Man City has better midfielders, I think Man City will be more aggressive to play. So, I am optimistic that Man City can score more than 2 goals in that match and win the UCL title.  Smiley

If Manchester City manage to use their influence in the game, then it could be not very likely for us to see penalty-shootouts. Chelsea will have a counter-attack football I guess. They are really good at it but not good at finishing too much.  Grin  If Werner played now like he was at Leipzig, things could have been much different. I wonder whether Chelsea will manage to resist Manchester City in 90 minutes.
It will be very difficult for Chelsea to resist Manchester City. Because Manchester City's midfield and forward lineup is very strong. At the same time Chelsea is more adept at counterattack. So, if Chelsea can resist Manchester City and put their counterattck tactics to good use, the match will be much more competitive.

I think that Manchester City will have a really high ball possession and their defense line also will be a little forward. In that situation, Chelsea can catch them off guard with long balls. Werner will have a huge responsibility to finish those chances nicely.

Chelsea vs Man City is so thrilling...
the Chelsea squad must be ready in terms of mentality and stamina.

Quote
Michael Owen thinks that Man City will actually lift the Champions League trophy. Owen thinks The Citizens will take revenge for their defeat in domestic competition.
well Owen, as a Chelsea supporter I appreciate your prediction, but see tomorrow how Chelsea will lift the trophy and make you cry Cheesy

This makes you  sound biased, are you a Chelsea fan?

I hope these Chelsea boys are ready because  this will be a long day for them  no two ways about it!

Not forgetting a revenge match which should be interesting to watch as city will be out guns blazing.

Prediction: Manchester City 3-0 Chelsea

Don’t take away the fact that this Guardiola side have not beaten Tuchel Chelsea. They’ve play on two occasions and Chelsea have won both ties. Chelsea have not conceded more than a goal in a single match throughout this year UCL competition. I think they channel their energy more to this competition than the EPL. Chelsea need to be very ruthless and conservative with their chances in today’s game if they’re to win.

Sure, I agree that the odds don't mean a lot by themselves. What I was trying to say is that these odds look great to me because I'd take City in a CL final at 2.00 odds even against much better teams than Chelsea.

Chelsea has CL experience as a club, their current team doesn't really have any. They are mostly young and still inexperienced at this level - which can sometimes be a bonus as well. But I'd say experience is on City's side.

It's 1 game and anything can happen in football. But it would really surprise me if City dropped the ball tonight.
Both teams lack Uefa champions league experience. Manchester city may have a little experience tho, because of few players that have played in previous UCL games. I don’t underestimate teams that have gotten the finals.
"Anything can happen", this saying keep ringing in my head and the most advisable stake is an under 2.5 goals.
