Unbelievable with Scotland success defeated Spanish on UEFA Euro Qualification matchday 2, Manchester United's player Scott McTominay success become man of the match after two goals contributed and success made Scotland managed top standing position awhile group A with 6 points.

on the paper, Scotland not really favorite winning from Spain but lead first goals on early minutes played make them confidence for winning this games. Actually still have many matches left for EURO Qualifier and Spanish have chance back to the top standing position because three points left is not difficult. Each national team finish on first and second standing qualifier automatically will set one place in EURO 2024 Germany final slot and seems interested with Group A Because still have Georgia and Norway have 1 points right now.

ball possession of up to 75% does not guarantee that Spain will be successful in scoring goals, as the host, Scotland managed to make it look difficult for Spain to penetrate their defense. even though as a midfielder, mcTominay successfully became the man of the match in this match with the 2 beautiful goals he made. for a while, Scotland has been at the top of group A standings with 6 points and no defeats, while mctominay has succeeded in becoming one of the top scorers with 4 goals he has made so far (competing with cristiano).

Scotland was better in that game and surely more pragmatic than Spain.Spain I think is just starting as we saw in the last World Cup to build a new team with really young players and it takes time for this young talented players to get Spain back on top where they were.Ball possession is beneficial only when it translates in creating a lot of dangerous opportunities and shots on goal while it does mean absolutely nothing if you just keep the ball possession and the number of dangerous attacks or shots on goal remain low,in this case there is nothing beneficial about ball possession and that is why is not unbelievable the loss of Spain against Scotland.

Ball possession means nothing if you don't have someone to score a goal. Defensive players can pass the ball between them and increase the possession but it means absolutely nothing. Span is famous for having the control of the ball, but I guess there wasn't anyone to score a goal. Croatia is similar as they like to have control of the ball, but often when the chance comes, there's no one to score.

I would also like to mention the match Kosovo - Andora, which ended in a draw.
Andora had only two shots on goal and one of them was a result. So the andora team squeezed the maximum out of what they could do.

Matches like this are encouraging in terms of progress in modern soccer.
You can see that even "soccer midgets" are already able to beat quite good teams. Top teams so far they can not take on the fight, but with teams 2-3 echelon, like cyprus, lithuania, latvia, they can draw or even win.

A team like Scotland, Wales, Georgia is already quite able to play on par with the giants and even beat them, as in the last match of Scotland against Spain and beat them confidently.

Scotland's victory really is a miracle, but Spain had their fair of chances too. I only watched the highlights and Spain had some serious shots on Scotland's goal but Angus Gunn saved all those shots to help Scotland win in the end. If Spain had scored some of those goals, who knows where the game would have went. The similar thing happened in Croatia - Turkey game. Turkey had some great shots but Livaković saved all of them to help Croatia win the game.
Spain's defeat by Scotland surprised me a little. because I think in this match Spain will be superior. and the worst possibility that I think of in that match is a draw. but it turned out that Scotland was able to get a pretty impressive victory and now Scotland has topped the group rankings. 5 goals in 2 matches in the group stage is absolutely incredible for Scotland. and Spain now they have to be willing to be in second place in group A. actually the competition in group A I think is the most difficult. because Norway and Georgia also have a strong team.

The result of the Scotland game against Spain was what many football fans never predicted and watching the Scottish national team make history last night gave me goosebumps. The noise from the fans in the stands was deafening and that is the beauty of football. Spain came into that game thinking that it'll be a walk over for them but the Scottish players had another thought and that was why they played the match with precision, resilience and determination to win.

Steve Clarke will be very happy with his teams performance and would want them to improve even more while Luis de la Fuente and his his team will learn their lessons of never to underate any team in the future

Very true. Scotland, Wales and Ireland are getting not very much attention, but especially when playing at home, they are all very difficult to play against.
Ireland gave France (which won against Netherlands 4-0) a hard time as well and France is a top team.
I believe it's justified to expect more tough games from UK teams (Scotland, Wales and Ireland)

Ireland (as long as we are referring to the Republic of Ireland, and not Northern Ireland) is not a part of the United Kingdom and it is an independent country. But apart from England, the performance of all these teams went down when compared to the 1990s. Scotland used to be a regular at the FIFA World Cups. But nowadays they never qualify for the main tournament. But there seems to be a sudden resurgence. Scotland and Wales both managed upset wins against their opponents this time. Everyone is going ballistic about Scotland's win over Spain, while Wales' draw against Croatia almost went unnoticed.

It's really surprising to see Spain struggling massively again.
Already in World Cup, Spain had lost to Japan and finally to Morocco (which is a good team but still Spain needs to win of course).
And Scotland made a very good game, could have scored even more goals against Spain.

Spain might have some changes in their squad but honestly, such a weak appearance against Scotland, where Spain didn't score a single goal is too bad even for a shuffled squad...
Kudos to Scotland for a great game.
Scotland showed they're not to be underestimated by top teams like Spain. What an incredible win, long overdue but worth the wait.

It was the best time to play Spain. They are in transition and missing their key players. They are not the force of old. In fact, there was nothing forceful about them at all here. I just hope the new coach does something about it in quick time because teams are lining up t face them.
Yes, it'll take some time until Spain gets accustomed to their new squad. In my opinion, Spain has a lot of potential especially from young players like Gavi, Rodri or Pedri but playing as a team is very important, where Spain needs to improve. Scotland played much better as a team despite lacking individual class. But playing as a team is very important and that's why Scotland won.  Smiley

In my opinion, the victory of Croatia against Turkey was obvious, as Croatia "unplanned" lost points in the game with Wales and had to correct the situation. As for Turkey, this team has long suffered hard times and the situation is not improving, so their chances against a motivated Croatia, even in the home game, were minimal.

If the Turkish national team coach changes, things will change in the group. In the second match, Türkiye takes the field stronger. But if Kuntz stays, Türkiye's job will be difficult, even impossible. There are names that are spoken about change. For example, if Sergen Yalçın becomes the head of the national team, there will be a great change in the positive direction. It's clear that there will be no long-term success with Kuntz. Participating in Euro 2024 is a must for the country. This country can't afford to miss another big tournament.

The main sensation in these group matches is Scotland, who managed to beat Spain and are now in first place with two wins... I guess they've guaranteed themselves a place out of the group... I'm also pleased with Croatia, who managed to beat Turkey and are now also in first place...
Scotland's victory over Spain was not the result that many people expected, although many realized that the current Spanish era was not an era where they were full of players who managed to lead them to win the world cup or European cup but losing two goals without being able to reply to Scotland was a result which was very bad for them, imagine 75% possession but not scoring at all and Scotland playing effectively on the counter attack, but Spain still had a chance but they can't afford to let their guard down in another game because there are still Norwegians who also still have a chance

It's really no surprise that Scotland managed to beat Spain. Last week Spain won against Norway by playing an aggressive and attacking style of football. However, against Scotland, they seemed to have lost their way with their possession-based approach, which ultimately proved to be unproductive in terms of winning the match. Moreover, Spanish coach appeared to be a bit too confident, so deserve to lose. Can't imagine he did make 8 changes to the team and expecting positive results. Though they had several chances, they failed to take advantage. Also, the current Spanish team is quite young, so it will take some time for them to fully adapt.

LOL... now we need to wait until June to watch the next set of matches. This is what I don't like about these qualifier tournaments, irrespective of whether it is for the FIFA World Cup, or the Euro Cup. But then, this is how it works.

That's the bad part, you get used to watch good games, get excited, and it's over very quickly, only to take almost 3 more months to come back to the games.

I was actually surprised because it turned out that many people doubted Croatia. maybe because they got off to a bad start to their first game against Wales. Croatia was held to a 1-1 draw. but even so, Croatia was actually playing quite well at that time. they dominated and created a lot of chances but the Wales defense didn't falter. they defend pretty well and tightly.

and in the Croatia vs Türkiye match, I personally favor Croatia. although I initially thought that maybe a draw would have made more sense since Turkey was playing at home. but in the end I decided to bet on Croatia. because I'm still pretty sure Modric and his friends are still as sharp as they were at the 2022 World Cup. and it's proven to be true. but it was Türkiye that surprised me. because their game is constantly evolving. even in the match against Croatia they continued to build attacks and it always almost endangered Croatia's goal. the favorites in group D are Wales, Croatia and Türkiye. I think it will be a fierce qualifier.

I lost the bet on Croatia's first game because something very unexpected happened, a goal in the last minute, it doesn't happen every day.
About Croatia's team, I think they are used to it, people always doubted, in 2018 they had a great World Cup, in 2022 too, and they were never unanimous.
In my opinion, of the teams that have never won a world cup, it was the one that had the most concrete chances to win since 2010 when Spain won its first title. I believed in Croatia more than Belgium or the Netherlands who were always the most tipped to be first time champions.

For Euro 2024 I also believe they will achieve a great place, at least in the top 4 to bring to a perfect end the generation of Modric and Perisić.
We can't forget that Croatia has already qualified for the final stage of the Nations League, so this could also influence.

In my opinion, the victory of Croatia against Turkey was obvious, as Croatia "unplanned" lost points in the game with Wales and had to correct the situation. Spain surprised the most and I think a lot of multi bet lovers curse this pick as even "reliable" picks like double chance or win with a negative handicap didn't work.

The odds of Spain's victory was 1.80 and I was one of the multi bet  Cheesy
Unfortunately I lost the bet, but I know I'm not alone, because it was a huge surprise to see Scotland winning against Spain.
But there's no problem since I'm in profit, I learned a lesson to not believe in Spain for a while.

The Spanish team is interesting. In theory it is a super team, with many stars, new and experienced players in decisive and important games. It won a world cup playing admirably, and there are many ups and downs alternating rapidly.
Some games against stronger teams, Spain dominates the game and wins easily, and in other games against weaker teams, it seems like a different team.
Of course all teams suffer from this, nobody plays every game well, and nobody wins everything, but Spain can't be that consistent, it's more noticeable than in other teams.

The bookies obviously knew what was gonna happen thats why they gave such a big odd and probobly earned the most money on that match. I honestly dont know why Spain went with that lineup but it was just shocking and a big loss for them. It will be intresting in next matches if they can comeback from this loss.

Soccer is really unpredictable, I posted yesterday about my bet, with all certainty that Spain was going to win.
Result: Scotland won, not only 1, but 2 goals against Spain  Cheesy , hard to believe.
And Croatia, which I thought would have a very difficult game against Turkey, won without much difficulty.

I couldn't watch all the matches, I watched the main teams, and the strongest teams in my opinion right now is France, England and Portugal.
Italy and Spain I expected more, not only by the results, but by the level they played.

The result of the first round of qualifiers for me is: 33.24 USD of profits, not much, but at least I have this to bet on next round in a few months

Very few doubt Croatia's performance, if football fans saw them at the Qatar World Cup, Croatia even managed to finish third at that time, Croatia's draw against Wales is not a reference, because in fact they played very well and dominated the game. But like you said, Wales had a pretty solid defense and luck came to Wales in the 93rd minute and equalised.

Croatia's win over Turkiye took them to second place in Group D and we will also have to wait for June for the next match as there will be a long break. Several surprises occurred in the qualifying round this time, where Spain and the Netherlands got unsatisfactory results.

Yeah, waiting that long after getting used to these games is annoying. In the other hand, this long break period give the opportunity for some clubs to recover and play better next time. I am talking mainly about Spain and Netherlands which showed below average performance. Italy too need some time to improve the quality of the team..

Lol, if this round continues until the end, then how will their matches continue in their respective leagues? In fact, when the league is paused because of a match for the national team, many fans and/or spectators feel bored. Also, the system has always been like that, so I don't think there's anything that needs to be a problem because after all, in the end we can also enjoy their match at Euro 2024, right.

But yes, apart from all that it seems that the Netherlands still needs to be even better in the future. Losing big with a score of 4-0 by France is not a good result, so the Netherlands is currently only in third place under Greece.

In not very surprising result, Turkiye lost to Croatia at home. Honestly I expected draw or loss from Turkish side before match. Turkish team was lackluster in match against Armenia. But even if they lost, I think Turkish team was definitely better playing side tonight. Turkiye could get one penalty and result could change a lot so quickly. Croatia focused on resisting and they were able to. I still think Croatia will be leader in this group and Turkish team will follow at the end.
At first I doubted Croatia would win this game because their first game against Wales was a weak one, and they were lucky to draw. In my opinion, Turkey is not the weakest team, so I think they have a chance to get to the second place in the group. The only opponent for them apart from Croatia is Wales. If Turkey can beat them, there should be no further problems.

I think Croatia had a trouble on the first game because they were fresh out of the clubs and into the nations again, but when they got back into their system again, they became better. Seeing how they play, even when pressured all game, just lay back and get the opponent attacking you, pass to each other on your own half for minutes on end, and then try to have one or two passes right into a position is the way they do.

It's not really like counter attacking, it's basically keeping the ball as long as you have to until you find an open space to pass into, and if you wait long enough, it will show itself. Modric is nearly a defender when he plays for national team, he is that far back taking the ball and looking for chances.
