LOL... now we need to wait until June to watch the next set of matches. This is what I don't like about these qualifier tournaments, irrespective of whether it is for the FIFA World Cup, or the Euro Cup. But then, this is how it works.
That's the bad part, you get used to watch good games, get excited, and it's over very quickly, only to take almost 3 more months to come back to the games.
I was actually surprised because it turned out that many people doubted Croatia. maybe because they got off to a bad start to their first game against Wales. Croatia was held to a 1-1 draw. but even so, Croatia was actually playing quite well at that time. they dominated and created a lot of chances but the Wales defense didn't falter. they defend pretty well and tightly.
and in the Croatia vs Türkiye match, I personally favor Croatia. although I initially thought that maybe a draw would have made more sense since Turkey was playing at home. but in the end I decided to bet on Croatia. because I'm still pretty sure Modric and his friends are still as sharp as they were at the 2022 World Cup. and it's proven to be true. but it was Türkiye that surprised me. because their game is constantly evolving. even in the match against Croatia they continued to build attacks and it always almost endangered Croatia's goal. the favorites in group D are Wales, Croatia and Türkiye. I think it will be a fierce qualifier.
I lost the bet on Croatia's first game because something very unexpected happened, a goal in the last minute, it doesn't happen every day.
About Croatia's team, I think they are used to it, people always doubted, in 2018 they had a great World Cup, in 2022 too, and they were never unanimous.
In my opinion, of the teams that have never won a world cup, it was the one that had the most concrete chances to win since 2010 when Spain won its first title. I believed in Croatia more than Belgium or the Netherlands who were always the most tipped to be first time champions.
For Euro 2024 I also believe they will achieve a great place, at least in the top 4 to bring to a perfect end the generation of Modric and Perisić.
We can't forget that Croatia has already qualified for the final stage of the Nations League, so this could also influence.
In my opinion, the victory of Croatia against Turkey was obvious, as Croatia "unplanned" lost points in the game with Wales and had to correct the situation. As for Turkey, this team has long suffered hard times and the situation is not improving, so their chances against a motivated Croatia, even in the home game, were minimal.
Spain surprised the most and I think a lot of multi bet lovers curse this pick as even "reliable" picks like double chance or win with a negative handicap didn't work.
The odds of Spain's victory was 1.80 and I was one of the multi bet
Unfortunately I lost the bet, but I know I'm not alone, because it was a huge surprise to see Scotland winning against Spain.
But there's no problem since I'm in profit, I learned a lesson to not believe in Spain for a while.
The Spanish team is interesting. In theory it is a super team, with many stars, new and experienced players in decisive and important games. It won a world cup playing admirably, and there are many ups and downs alternating rapidly.
Some games against stronger teams, Spain dominates the game and wins easily, and in other games against weaker teams, it seems like a different team.
Of course all teams suffer from this, nobody plays every game well, and nobody wins everything, but Spain can't be that consistent, it's more noticeable than in other teams.
