From what I see all the groups are somewhat interesting here but of course the group A with Spain and the group where Italy is in which has missed I think two consecutive World Cup appearances need to improve themselves by qualifying here for Germany 2024 and finally to see Italy back where it belongs to the top of soccer.

Maybe Ronaldo will still play this last Euro cup for him but I think that the age does not permit that or better permit it but not at full power because Ronaldo is going to be 39 years old,we have seen other great players giving a last try to such tournaments at this age so why not.
It's pretty sure Ronaldo will keep getting called to Portuguese national squad until he completely retires from football. Although his performance will gradually get worse. He is old for football, fans should accept this reality. I wish we could watch him more but time flies. I think he will mostly become bench to play in last 10-20 minutes at max in next European finals. But I think he won't retire yet. He will play for 2 more years in my opinion.

Ronaldo was mistreated during the 2022 world cup. The coach benched him for most of the quarter-final match and sent him only when 35 minutes or so was left. And as a result Portugal lost to Morocco. Irrespective of his age, Ronaldo remains the top performer for Portugal. But the coach didn't like him and therefore he wasn't given a chance to play for most of the duration. If Fernando Santos remains as the coach, then I don't think that Ronaldo should play for Portugal again. This is not the way to treat a legendary player.
Lol, everytime when a user complaint about Portugal's manager to put Ronaldo on bench during quarter final match, I always say it's better to see Portugal performance without Ronaldo when they're against Switzerland. Portugal won very sweet for getting 6 goals, this is the reason why Ronaldo didn't included on the starting line up.

If you said Ronaldo is the top performer for Portugal, it's better if you check in this site [1] to see how much it's his score and which position he's among his teammates.

I didn't saw the match against Switzerland. But are you saying that Portugal attack will be better without Ronaldo? I have to disagree. Ronaldo remains their best player and when he plays against any other team the entire focus of the defenders of the other team would be to mark him. And this allows his team-mates to play more freely and score goals. Switzerland match was an exception. It's true that Portugal scored a total of 6 goals. But then what happened in the next match? They went with the same combination and by half time they were 0-1 behind against Morocco.

First of all, thanks for the topic. Group D is the group that interests me. My country Turkey is in that group. Our opponents are very tough. Croatia finished third in the last world cup. Wales, on the other hand, played a few successful matches in the last world cup. Armenia, on the other hand, is a country with which we have been competing for years. In the last group, Latvia, which we were unlucky, was one of the strongest teams. As Turkey, we have a young generation and we want to be in Euro 2024 by successfully topping this group. I hope our wishes come true. I wish success to all countries.

No doubt Ronaldo is an exceptional footballer in this era, and he would still love to play even at the age of 45. But the problem is his inability to adapt to the changes he will encounter. (1) no coach will want to make a footballer in his late thirties the first choice of his team, especially when the performance is below target.  2) a player at that age is limited to a particular hour of performance. All these are factors Ronaldo is currently finding difficult to adapt to. He still wants to be seen as the team's first choice, and this strive will continue to torture him till when he chooses to resign. I presume we have witnessed the end of Ronaldo's era, is high time he resigns with dignity.

Yes, it is curious, I read that in one of the stories that I saw in a document that appears on HBO +, and the son of CR7 appeared, although lately I have seen more information about it and apparently CR7 wants to retire from football at the At the age of 40, I think that if he does it at that age, he will be able to fulfill his son, because he could already be a youth player who, if he is very good, could be considered to play with the professional, well at least I have seen that in some leagues. Maybe with the influence of CR7 they will make it a reality, you never know, I think that at 16 they could make a possible exception, I don't know how things are in the laws of football, but I see it as possible.

After the loss to Morocco during the quarter-finals, I was sad to see Ronaldo sobbing and getting emotional. By the time of the next world cup, he will be 41 years old. I don't know whether he will continue playing till then. But if he decides against retiring immediately, a lot of the fans will be overjoyed. No matter what happened during this world cup (it was the stupidity from Fernando Santos that cost Portugal the QF match), my opinion is that Ronaldo should give another try in 2026. He is still one of the top football players in the world.

We will not start these competitions again until March. France - The Netherlands is already a huge squatter in this group. By far the strongest match in the 1st round of qualifying. It is remarkable that these countries are together. France will want revenge on Argentina's lost final and has also disappointed against Switzerland at the European Championship in 2020 in which Mbappe missed the penalty. Italy - England will also be played on March 23. A repeat of the final of the European Championship 2020, in which Italy finally took off with the title.

ya.ya.yo!

I think 2 teams will advance from the groups, so defeats for these teams won't really be a problem. They certainly won't lose sleep over that. Van Gaal was a temporary national coach for the World Cup in Qatar, and has now stopped. The focus of most countries will also be on the European Championship, but we will first have the final round of the Nations League in the summer. Not that it has that much status, but if you do participate you want to win. There is a lot of uncertainty about Belgium. A number of players are considering quitting their international career, and the coach has also submitted his resignation after the World Cup.

Almost forgot that this is coming again in a few months. A striking group is that of the Netherlands and France. But the Netherlands will get its old coach Koeman back. And hopefully they will play better football than at the World Cup. France may not take it all that seriously, but we can only say that on Monday when it is known whether they have become world champions or not. A European Championship always lives much less than a World Cup. And 2024 that is also quite far away, of course. and in between we also get the Nations League finals in the summer.

not only germany is trying to develop/form a strong team again but also the spainians are in my opinion in rebuilding.
after the national coach Luis Enrique has announced his end after the elimination, today also the captain Sergio Busquets announced no longer for the spanish national team to run up.

It would be a huge disaster for Germany indeed if they are eliminated early in EURO 2024 as well. I'm having issues with understanding how they can be this much bad now. They were like the nightmare of the rest of the world in EUROs or World Cups in the past. I still can't forget about the 7-1 win over Brazil in 2014 World Cup.  Grin  It was like the brightest period of the Germany national team. But some time later, some things started to change. We have seen some new players in the squad first of course. But I was still not expecting the team spirit to disperse.

Tbh, I wonder about that too. How can it be that a team that played for the title for years before has experienced such a downfall?

Of course, important players like Bastian Schweinsteiger or Philip Lahm have left the team. But the current squad is actually much better in terms of quality than it was back then. Just think of Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sane, Serge Gnarby or Kai Havertz. All world-class players who can win against any team.

Of course, the team lacks a real striker like Miroslav Klose was. However, a team like Germany has to find a solution here, IMHO. The second problem is the German defence. Although they have a leader in Antonio Rüdiger, the rest of the defence is rather weak by international standards.

Well, let's see if the team can improve on these positions by 2024. Otherwise, I guess out in the group stage again.  Undecided

As a Turk I think we had lucky draw with this. Croatia is obviously the best team in our group and probably gonna be a leader. But other teams I think can be beaten by Turkish squad when we are in good condition. Armenia and Latvia have no chance in my opinion. Wales only may be able to compete with Türkiye for second place. But I think Wales plays better football than Türkiye in later, they are still sort of lacking talented players. Türkiye has better players. Looking forward to see what's gonna happen.

Surely they realize what they have to fix to be able to compete with other European countries. When they failed to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup Finals, it was a very hard blow to come to them. They must have done an evaluation by now even when they failed the qualifying round back then. There is still time for Italy to fix everything and be able to compete again in this UEFA Euro. I hope they can take advantage of the opportunities that exist to have friendly matches with other countries, which of course with balanced opponents or countries that are considered better than them, such as the country that performed well at the Qatar World Cup.

Italy is placed in a relatively tough group (Group C) along with England and Ukraine. And then there is North Macedonia, who are quite famous for making upsets. The only weak team in the group is Malta, and even they are capable of troubling the big teams. On the other hand look at Group E. There are hardly any strong teams there, with Poland and Czech Republic almost assured of qualification to the main event.  Anyway we still have more than three months to go towards the start of the qualifying tournament.

Of course, the UEFA Euro is one of the most anticipated competitions, we will see European countries face each other to fight for the title. Italy and England will be the much-anticipated matches. They met in the top match at UEFA Euro 2020 and now they will meet in the qualifying round. This could be a revenge mission for the England national team to beat Italy after they had to lose in the final via a penalty shootout which at that time ended with a score of 3-2 for Italy's victory. In 2023 we will see European countries competing in this qualifying round.

However, Italy must first fix its team which currently does not have much potential to compete in the European championships, even if judging by these World Cup matches, Spain and Germany are not doing so well either. I would say that if there are no major changes, France remains the strongest national team in Europe for the next championship

However it really happened. They started to maintain a really inconsistent form no matter what tournament they participate in. This crisis meeting hopefully will be some help for them to pull themselves together. Germany are the host country so they don't have to deal with any qualifier stage. But the pressure will be on them surely as the tournament is in their home.

Crisis meeting with the German national team. After the embarrassing elimination in the group phase at the World Cup in Qatar, the "DFB task force" met for the first time today to discuss measures to get the German national team back on track for the EURO 2024.

The new DFB task force met for the first time today. Led by DFB president Neuendorf & vice president Watzke, Oliver Kahn, Oliver Mintzlaff, K-H Rummenigge, Matthias Sammer & Rudi Völler discussed the development & prospects of the national team for around 2.5 hours [dfb]

I don't know if the measures are making a difference, but at least something is happening. IMHO, this is bitterly necessary after the humiliating performances at the last three major tournaments. If you want to have a decent team in 2024 you have to act now.

German news channel Sky Sport reports that the German DFB is setting up a task force of German football giants to give the team the best possible advice and prepare them for the Euro 2024.

Official: The DFB has set up a task force with Oliver Kahn, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Matthias Sammer, Rudi Völler and Oliver Mintzlaff whose task will be to advise, support and assist Hansi Flick, the national team and the DFB ahead of Euro 2024 and beyond.

Finally it looks like the DFB is taking steps to make sure the German team is back on track for the Euro 2024. I really hope this will help to turn things around and gives me something to cheer about in 2024.

Another elimination in the group stage would be horrific. Please no.  Cheesy
