I think it still makes sense but in the end it cannot be denied that Ronaldo's role in Portugal also for this euro is still there, it's just that we can't expect anything more because it will be very difficult to be the backbone at an age that should have retired but Cristiano is trying to break that even though it is difficult because the problem of age is always a limitation and a problem that cannot be avoided by an athlete.
Also, we seem to be focusing too much on Cristiano as if Portugal's defeat was all Cristiano's fault when for a player of his age he has played well and not many people can do that.

But on the issue of retirement I agree, now Cristiano should try to let go with the regeneration in the national team although maybe for age in the club it is still not thought of but for the national team he must move now because after all he is old enough to carry a heavy burden.
Ronaldo cannot be entirely blamed for Portugal elimination from the Euros, he has given his best at his no longer young age. It's true, only a few players his age are capable of playing at the top level, and so far we haven't heard any news about Ronaldo retirement plans. In my opinion, in fact, almost all managers will be faced with a difficult choice when dealing with Ronaldo presence, not calling him to the national team is a disaster, when Ronaldo is included in the squad there is no other choice, but to use him as a starter, even though Ronaldo has physically declined a lot. It's time for Ronaldo opportunities for the younger generation, don't let his presence be seen as hampering regeneration in the Portuguese national team, he will remain one of the best and a legend.
The problem is that most of the time it is like that because looking at some of the comments that are happening right now I think we are focusing so much on Cristiano that anything that is done that doesn't meet our expectations is considered wrong.
Previously when he missed a penalty against Slovenia many criticized him as if he was a burden and for the defeat against France the same thing happened which in my opinion is too cornered 1 player when if you look at the whole when playing collectively as a team it is clear that the mistakes are shared.

It can't be denied that on some occasions Cristiano sometimes has his own ego but sometimes he is also not uncommon to play as a team and that he showed at this Euro so I think everyone has advantages and disadvantages in this regard. The only difference is that he is so much the center of attention that it is difficult to look away when Cristiano is on the pitch, which makes every action he takes always cause pros and cons in the end.

Talking about legends is indisputable because with the achievements he has today I think everyone agrees that he is a legend not only for his country but also for football because he is one of the best so far.

The decision taken by Montella was of course the beginning of the Dutch revival in that match so that the Dutch were able to comeback with a 2-1 win, Demiral absent was one of the reasons for the weakness of Turkey defense, whether he admitted it or not, but so far Demiral has been a key player who has had a great influence on Turkey defense so that losing it in an important match such as against the Netherlands of course left a big hole which was easily exploited by the Dutch attackers.
Turkey created opportunities to expand result to 2 - 0 but they lacked of luck to have a second goal. Netherlands are strong in player quality and mentality so they fight hard and get what they want, not only one goal but two goals and win the match in regret of Turkey.

After that, Turkey returned and came nearly to a second goal to pull the match to extra half but again they lacked of luck. Anyway, their performances in Euro 2024 are out of their own expectation before the tournament. They can go home with pride of themselves and can aim at future with more ambitious targets. Their confidence actually increases a lot after a successful Euro 2024. This Euro can be a first brick for some successful tournaments in coming years in World Cup and Euro. Next two years, there will be World Cup 2026 and I would like to wait for an impressive performance of Turkey there.

It's very unfortunate, even though Turkey is worthy enough to advance to the semifinals and maybe this is like bad luck that they have to accept. The reason is that the Dutch victory was only achieved thanks to the decisive goal from an own goal from a Turkish player and again I think there have been countless own goals that occurred during this year's Euro.

Not only that, the absence of Mehri Demiral seems to have had a big impact on this match so that Turkey was unable to maintain its usual performance without him. Montella's decision was actually quite right by bringing on Kenan Yildiz in the second half because against the Dutch they had to conserve energy so that when needed later Kenan Yildiz could be the difference but unfortunately it wasn't what he had planned and the Dutch were indeed a difficult team to beat.
In the last few years Turkey has become one of the football powers that is quite to be reckoned with in Europe, the development of their football has developed quite rapidly and is even able to compete with the big teams of today, as one of the non-leading teams in the Euro of course Turkey has shown how their ability is even able to compete with a team as big as Portugal, even though they lost to the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, we have to admit that Turkey played quite well and I think it would be very difficult for the Netherlands to win if the Turkish coach had not made the decision to stay after temporary win 1-0 in the first half, although the coach knew what needed to be done, but I think Montella forgot if a 1 goal lead was not enough to stop a team like the Netherlands.

The next match between the Netherlands and England looks like it will be quite a bouring match for both teams because so far both teams have not been able to show their best performance as champion candidates.

Turkey lost to the Netherlands yesterday and were eliminated from the tournament. We went ahead in the first half and then conceded a simple goal in the second half, which was a pity for us because I think we were the better side in the game. Montella's late decisions and some of the players not playing affected the game. Kenan Yildiz should have come on earlier, he shouldn't have even started, but Montella's constant preference for him was not normal.

Spain against France will be another repeat of what happened between Spain and Germany in the Quarter Finals of this very campaign. The France national team is about to face one of the greatest test of their stay in this competition and we know how Spain gets the ball so wide when they're going for a counter without a single player not getting in the mix, it will be hard for the France side to get their marking too close to the wingers and midfielders of Spain from how I have seen them (France) play, it will make Kante to be more stressed out that's if they let him do more of the marking tomorrow.
The France national team need to make use of the pitch not playing a one sided game if not they'll pay for it, Mbappe shouldn't be the only target and Dembele shouldn't waste more chances in this encounter and if that happens the Spanish players will capitalize on them and it will be more dangerous if Spain takes the lead but one thing is sure, a draw can happen if the France side keep it calm, IMO France they can't beat Spain even if it goes on to extra time.
The thing is that France game is a lot easier to predict especially when there is absolutely poor creativity in their midfield, if France is to allow or call any player to change their gameplay then I think it would be Paul Pogba and even mbappe himself confesses this because with Pogba at the heart of that midfield mbappe can be easily feed with some killer pass just like the way TONY KROSS does it but due to the ban on Pogba he will have to stay a lot longer to enjoy the good game again.
France has been really poor and I think they don't have any excuse to cover their performance, am just still suprised at how they are at this position now and I won't be surprised again if they would actually pull out another miracle against this spain team because Spain is clearly way better than France and with the current stats would be clear favorite's to win this game and even the competition at large.
If France were poor, but they got this far in the Euro Cup, it's amazing. Surprisingly, they did not have a great performance, yet they entered the semi-finals by beating Portugal. However, semi-final matches are more exciting and interestingly, they definitely require performances. And with Spain, France will try hard but may not be successful and may not be able to enter the final. Spain team is very hardworking and strong, so they will definitely work hard to beat France in the semi-final match and qualify for the final.

If you look at how Spain and France played in their last match, It doesn't seem too difficult to guess who will have more control of the game in the semifinals. As we know, France was quite overwhelmed when facing Portugal and I think they were lucky enough to be able to force the match to a penalty shootout. If only Portugal could maximize every opportunity they had, then France could have lost that match.

Meanwhile, Spain has had a very consistent performance at Euro 2024 and they always win in every match they play. They have a very promising rhythm and they can always put on a solid game, and even though Spain has so many young players in its lineup but they have tremendous composure. I guess that Spain will win the match with a score of 2-1.

The match between Germany and Spain was won by Spain with a score of 2-1 and Germany's defeat certainly meant that they would not be able to advance to the semifinals and now Spain has managed to embarrass the hosts and it seems that now Spain can breathe a sigh of relief because of course Spain has advanced to the semifinals and of course this makes The Spanish people are proud because Spain has advanced to the semifinals and of course have hopes of winning the match against France, which will of course compete for a ticket to the final.

and France definitely wants to win against Spain and to be honest France's strength is also very strong because they have a strong defense and good cooperation in any case but of course I predict that in the next match against Spain I am sure that Spain will have great potential to win that match and get tickets to the final and in the next match I will bet on Spain winning. What do you predict, whether Spain or France will win? I can't wait to watch this match and the competition will definitely get fiercer.

I think the referee made many decisions against us in the match. Xavi Simons stepped directly on Mert Müldür's shin and this should have been a direct red card. VAR did not even intervene in this intervention. It was a decision I couldn't understand. A red card early in the match could have pushed us to play better. If it had been in the group matches instead of the quarter-finals, I'm sure they would have given him a red card.

I couldn't have agreed more with that... Xavi Simons should have got a red card, not a yellow. That is not the kind of a challenge UEFA tolerates normally. But the referee didn't have the same idea. VAR didn't even check the incident properly. There was a clear foul on Netherlands' second goal as well. When you look at it from a different angle it is clearly seen. Referees did their job badly in this game unfortunately.  Sad

https://x.com/FenerXtraDE/status/1809672283927003338

How isn't this a red card?  Huh

I don't want to be seen like I'm finding excuses for this loss for Turkey. I just want to criticize the things that deserve. Referees should be more careful in such a big organization.  Wink

Xavi simons didn't deserved red for that foul. It's clear if it's unintentional from Xavi Simons. Turkish's defender's leg was also in an unnatural position. Again, Simon was contesting the ball, not doing a serious foul on him. It didn't show excessive force and brutality to his opponent's safety. So, Simon didn't deserve a red card for that foul, and the referee was quite fair in that game.

It's just unfortunate enough when simon's foot came down on the defender's leg.

The semi-final match will probably be very different to previous matches for France and Spain, but I don't think France has a higher chance of beating Spain if Luis De la Fuente has a special strategy when he can't play Pedri and Carvajal due to injuries and red cards. Spain have also been strong in defense so far, but without Carvajal I think things will be different.

I would say Carvajal is very important defender in Spain squad. Carvajal performed well against Germany. Carvajal made two important saves. He saved the Spain team from a guaranteed goal. Carvajal's presence was very visible throughout the match. At the same time, Pedri helped stabilize Spain's midfield. Without these two players, it will be difficult for Spain coach Fuente to keep Spain's performance stable.

France has a strong squad. However, considering the overall performance of these two teams in this year's Euro, I think Spain is stronger. The bonding between Spain's players is good and Fuente's match tactics are excellent. I consider Spain as favorite against France.

Who isn't important for them then? Dani Carvajal has experience in big games like this, especially playing for Real Madrid has been a good way to identify this. Both Laporte, Nacho Fernandez and also Marc Cucurrella all contributes to the success of that defense since this Competition kicked off. Pedri? Are we joking here? People who brings stability to that midfied would be Rodri and also Fabian Ruiz, when next you watch their games, make sure you see what these two do for that squad. I love how they bring balance, detect the game and also keep and maintain possession under pressure.

French has a solid defense, they should be be worried about what Spain would even do to them. In this Competition they're second to non right now. The Frenchmen, what they lack right now is a player who can create chances and pick up a quality pass for the strikers.

The tells a whole lot about life. Do your best and don't expect too much from the world. Not even the legends before Cristiano Ronaldo could achieve what he has achieved for Portuguese National Team bit you should see the way they forget about all he has done for them honestly. Godspeed to him, and whatever that comes next. What I know is that, even in the next three decades, Portugal wouldn't not be able to get another Cristiano Ronaldo.

They have a dump coach who is poor at playing the long game, dis you-all see his substitute for that game against France? All of these half baked coaches should just go have a good vacation with them families. Failed to handle Belgium national team, the same now goes with Portugal. SMH!!

Looking at England's squad looks better but Switzerland's game statistics are much more consistent than England, because this is in the quarter-finals hopefully there will be an improvement where England's game is not easily bored to watch.
I hope to see a better England, who had a hard time getting through, if it weren't for Bellingham's goal they would be in bad form. For me these things have always been decisive, if you don't do it, you're done, and now England promises. I think England's style of play or strategy has to change, to be more offensive, because if they play the same way they can end up like Italy, who had a very good attack, only they attacked when they were losing and they were running out of time, so it's better to go all out from the start, it doesn't matter if they are very tired, when they are very tired they can close in on themselves to defend, but the result, the game, they have to go looking for it.

At this point I think that between England and Holland it will be very interesting, both teams for me are at the same level, it will be very good.

England got a relatively easy semi-final compared to either Spain or France. I am 90% sure that the final is going to be between England and France. And it will be a great opportunity for England to make up for what happened during the last Euro Cup. During the final of Euro 2020, England was ahead in penalty shootout after 2 shots by 2-1. But then Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka missed consecutive penalty kicks and in the end Italy won by 3-2. Hopefully it will not repeat this time.

I've watched most of England national team's games in the ongoing UEFA Euros Championship and to be honest, they've never had a convincing win if you ask me. The team is made up of great players without doubt but very few of this great players have been outstanding in the ongoing European Championship. Some are of the opinion that England's failure to live up to the expectations of football fans especially the English fans is as a result of the the manager's poor tactical approaches. However, despite England's unconvincing results that's helped them reach the semi finals of the competition, they're at least better than France who's not scored from open play since the start of the competition.
Should the two nations meet in the final, I think it'll be one of the the most boring finals in the history of the tournament because of their failures to score lots of goals.

Yeah that's how England plays not very impressive but they have ability and luck and managed to go in the semifinals, this time I can say that England was lucky again because against Netherlands in the semifinals I mean, between Spain, France and Netherlands, of course fighting against Netherlands  is easier so England chances of reaching the final are even greater while Spain and France had to fight as hard as possible, 2 main candidates as winners.

I just checked the betting markets on Stake.com Spain and England are the teams predicted to go to the final, both teams have a better winning percentage based on the available odds but yeah, that's just a prediction and we don't know what scenario will happen there. In regular time every match will probably end in a draw then the winner will be determined through extra time or a penalty shootout, imo.

I disagree to say Ronaldo like this. He is no longer as good as he was years ago but saying he is a worse Portuguese player in this tournament, it's not true. I am not his fan, to be frank, but do you think younger players like Joao Felix played better than Ronaldo in Euro 2024 for Portugal?

Joao Felix and Nunes wasted two opportunities to help Portugal winning this match in 120 minutes but they can not score that winning goal for their team. At the penalty spot, Joao Felix failed and his team had to go home because of his shot. Now it will be days before we know Ronaldo's decision to continue with his national team or retire. I believe he will not announce his retirement at the national team soon.

You are free to disagree buddy Smiley that is my opinion about CR7 during this tournament. I did not see anything special with him in this tournament, starting from shoot on goals, teamwork with his teammate, etc. If we talk about wasting opportunities, I do believe CR7 did the same thing in this tournament. One clear example is when he failed on the penalty against Slovenia in extra time. Coming to retirement, I think he still wants to play in 2026 world cup and he may become the oldest player in the tournament. Of course it will also be depending on the manager of Portugal national team whether he will bring CR7 or not in 2026 world cup.
If he continues to play football in 2026 and still works hard and has some qualifications. I think no manager can prevent him from playing for the Portuguese national team in 2026. Ronaldo always got what he wanted and I don't think much will change. By the way, I believe that your criticisms about Ronaldo are correct.

On the other hand, he did not have a very effective trophy, maybe it was about the team, maybe it was not. But he missed a lot of things as well as the other team and could not do what they wanted.

Even if England by some miracle make it to the final I think the match will still be boring. Yes, I would like to see Spain in the final, they play quite well and never once in this championship have not shown weakness - always fought to the end, the last match against Germany is proof of that. In general, France is not so bad, they are also playing well, so if they go through, I don't see any reason to be disappointed

I thought myself only who noticed that England whenever facing another opponent, the match end up being boring, less chances, less opportunities and surely less goals. They dominated a very safe gameplay, afraid of starting to attack and creating opportunities for them starts whenever they get late in score.
Spain in the other hand are playing great football with young players, not afraid of going full attack and doing their best to score first. It is the only team which is being fun to watch, and France right after it, although they miss many players which are
lacking attack skills. France throwing all the responsibility on Mbapee is not okay, then not trusting him in penalties as they have did against Portugal.
England is also boring for me at the last World Cup and Euros; in the playoffs, sometimes I think that they would lose quickly, although I understand that this may offend the fans of this team. Perhaps Hari Kane will show his worth in attack, for some reason I have this feeling. Spain, with its young players, can win the championship if they continue their passion and courage.

Mbappe now has too many eyes and responsibility on him, if he even starts to doubt a little, then failure will be close, although I would not demand much from him in this Euro, because he has injuries to his nose, internal contradictions from other championships, problems in his home country with elections and a lot of small and big problems. If he calmly finishes the game, that will be enough for me.

Actually if Ronaldo was not given the opportunity to play in Euros nobody will notice that he cannot fit into the team anymore because his performance in SPL was in the news a d how he was the highest goal scorer, scoring hat-trick. It was because SPL does not have youngsters that Re super good which was making Ronaldo to shine at old age.

Coming to Euros cleared his doubt to the world that he is old and cannot make any difference in a match the way he use to when he was young. I believe that he will not be part of the national team after their defeat because he is 39 and will be 41 years next world cup showing that he has no cho9but to retire now.
