Atalanta didn't win with luck rather it was proposed changed in game setting and thrashed Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final, therefore handling Leverkusen their first defeat of the season which was in total dismay for Bayer Leverkusen and their supporters. We could remember vividly how the club won the Bundesliga title without a record of defeats but did attain to draw points.
Why could something like that happen to Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final match, because Atalanta, who had also beaten a new team from England, also looked at their opponents quite carefully, especially since Bayer Leverkusen at that time was quite viral because they had never lost to any opponent. So this makes Atalanta's own spirit and pattern of play improve and become better because Atalanta can also get a sense of pride when they succeed in beating Leverkusen in the final match, which is an important match for both teams.

Liverpool won 2 times and Atalanta won 2 times, they are evenly matched. This shows that liverpool and leverkusen were unlucky to play against atalanta who are an opponent that has historically done well against them, unfortunately atalanta in series A don't even have any chance of becoming series A champions in all seasons. That's why in my opinion I say that leverkusen is not a strong team outside of germany, they will do poorly in the european champions league, just like liverpool and even atalanta

Bayern Leverkusen playing in the champions league will be a lot different thing for them because they haven’t been there for many many years ago. All the existing players of the team have no much experience of the champions league, so it will be a bigger challenge for them. They’ve proven how strong they are in the Bundesliga and also in the Europa league. Now the greater test awaits them in the champions league where the best teams in Europe plays in that competition and the competitive edge between the teams their are very high unlike where they’re coming from. If they resist the competitive nature and come out victorious, that is when we can now say that Bayern Leverkusen are up to the task also.

It's true, Atalanta didn't win because of luck, they won because of their hard work and the strategy they implemented was successful in beating Leverkusen. It was a success and they even won with a landslide score.
They succeeded in implementing very good defense so that Liverpool could not easily break into their goal, on the other hand, on the front line they were very effective in converting their opportunities into goals. That is a very good thing, even though it is not in accordance with what we predicted at the beginning.
Atalanta succeeded in proving that they could also provide something surprising, not only could they beat Liverpool, who were the top team, and they could even beat Leverkusen, who had never been beaten this season.
We must distinguish between wins due to luck and wins resulting from hard work. Both have different ways of achieving victory, luck is obtained after winning through a penalty shootout, while victory comes from hard work, as Atalanta did against Liverpool and Leverkusen. On paper, Liverpool and Leverkusen are too strong for a team like Atalanta to face, but because of the enthusiasm of the Atalanta players who want to win the match when facing a strong team, they are able to play with discipline and take advantage of opportunities to score goals. No one ever thought that Atalanta would be able to beat Leverkusen, but because the players had great enthusiasm and wanted to win the title, Atalanta was able to give Leverkusen their first defeat this season.

When you see Atalanta's position in the series, anyone can think that they are an extremely weak team, and this is true when you compare Atalanta in Serie A in relation to teams like Inter, Juventus, Milan, which are teams that manage to win Serie A. but Atalanta outside of Italy has opponents that have historically won and they are strong opponents that, as people don't look at the past, as soon as they look at Atalanta outside of Italy playing against teams like Liverpool and Leverkusen they could thinking that on paper Atalanta is weak, when in reality on paper Atalanta is strong when they play against Liverpool and Leverkusen

just look at the story:

source: https://livescores.biz/h2h/atalanta-vs-bayer-leverkusen

In the last games Atalanta always beat Leverkusen.

This is very true, it will be unfair to say Atlanta's victory at the Europa league finals was by luck, they deserved the victory they had  in that game, their performance was very good and impressive which earned them the victory they got and it became clear it was no way by luck or chance the won such game, even Leverkusen was at some point appearing surprised how the couldn't make it to gaining dominance in that game as probably expected of them.

Leverkusen wasn't any better side in that game, I wouldn't want to use the bias of the fact that they were able to put up very brilliant performance form the beginning of the season till this point to say that they were a better side in the finals and Atlanta was less deserving of the victory which can invariably be said that they were lucky. Leverkusen have been a good side throughout the Europa league games from the beginning to the point they got to the finals, Atlanta can be said to be lucky only at some stages of the Europa league games especially when they met Liverpool but with Leverkusen they were only a better side.

Obviously Leverkusen appeared like they didn't expect such loss at the finals of that game as they haven't experienced such since that season, it was their first time experiencing defeat that season an their reaction made it very obvious that they were actually experiencing it for the first time, and it was sad that the first time.they had to experience such was at the time they needed their wins the most.

I believe they have already proven their competence with their superb season, in which they lost only once - in the final. I'm not saying they can do well in the Champions League next season, but if they try and keep up the current momentum, it could well happen, moreover they will give competition to Bayern, at least they will have someone worthy to compete with them
UCL will be much more competitive than UEL. Leverkusen performed very well in the European leagues this season. They are undefeated and have only been beaten once in the final. I believe Leverkusen can have a good performance in the UCL. I wouldn't think they could be champions. But I think Leverkusen still has a chance to get through the group stage and even play in the semifinals. Alonso must buy several good players in this transfer market. In my opinion, the quality of Leverkusen's players is average and they can be very superior because of Alonso's good strategy and the great mentality of the players. But they will not be able to regain their performance this season if they still use their old players.
In the just concluded season, Bayer Leverkusen only lost one game in all competitions and that was in the final of the UEFA Europa League competition but next season, the reigning German champions will be playing the UEFA Champions League competition which is why many people are confused of Bayer Leverkusen will be strong to compete in the biggest club competition like they did in the UEFA Europa League. Unlike the Europa League where the clubs aren't top best clubs in Europe, the Champions League is a competition that involves the best teams in Europe so I don't think Bayer Leverkusen will be able to dominate the competition like they did in the Europa.
Xabi Alonso I know will definitely want to prove that his team's success in the just concluded season wasn't all about luck but because they play quality football and that's why I think they'll at least reach the quarter finals of the competition next season but I don't see Bayer Leverkusen reach any stage that's better that the quarter final

I think the Bayer Leverkusen team had one of their best season so far winning two trophies in a season and being the best team in Germany so far ahead of Bayern Munich and Dortmund, they had an amazing performance and enjoyed unbeaten run in the league despite losing the Europa League trophy to Atlanta which is also the only game they lost last season as you earlier pointed out, next season is going to be a different game and for Bayer Leverkusen to remain relevant and stronger to compete in the champions league they have to be determined and add more good players to the squad, they are going to be facing a different opponent in the champions league and they also need to be strong to be able to defend her league title so they really need to prove themselves by performing better than they did last season since they are going to be involved in a lot of competition next season.

The champions league competition will be their biggest challenge because they will have the opportunity to play against ig teams so they need to be in good form, have good mentality and keep the winning spirit alive so they can fight to make good positions in the group stage of the champions league even as they get ready to face their biggest rivals Bayern Munich in the league.

The new 36 team format will be quite fun if you ask me, plus we are going to see teams play against 8 different teams which will be even more fun if you ask me instead of playing the same teams twice. I believe that this will manage to make a lot of big teams face a lot of smaller teams.

This has positive and negatives for both side without a trouble Good thing for big teams that they are going to face smaller teams, which means it should be an easy win and that's good, but if they lose that's going to hurt them a lot more this time around, secondly if small teams face big teams, they will make more money from that because they will get more attention, plus some more games as well, but negative is that they have very slim chance to go further with it.

Dortmund will play in the UCL next season. UEFA has created a new rule format. Among them is that the number of additional tickets that will be given to the league will be calculated based on the coefficient value of a team when playing in European competitions, such as the UCL, UEL and European Confederation Cup. This value shows that this season the Bundesliga has the best coefficient value so they get 5 tickets next season. Dortmund is in fifth place in the final standings and fortunately they can play in the UCL next season.

But honestly if this rule is true, it is one of the best decisions to have been taken by UEFA because this goes to crown the efforts of the leagues based on their performance as an additional advantage. Also, if UEFA can based an automatic qualifying to any club that gets to the finals or semifinals of the UEFA Champions League, that will also make a lot of sense to what's done already.

That's normal because from the start we only focused on a few big and highly probable clubs like Liverpool and Leverkusen even for Serie A clubs I believe Milan and Roma's chances are higher which makes Atalanta less of a concern because after all they are a dark horse for this competition.

But on the other hand, actually from the beginning also when in the last 16 phase we must have believed and even many discussions that in the end the Europa League is always unexpected.

So with this in mind it's actually quite difficult to accept Atalanta as champions this season but then again Europa League surprises have happened in recent seasons so this is what makes me not too surprised by the surprises that occur even though I didn't expect it because in the last final bet I had to lose because I was fighting for Leverkusen.

Atalanta were not even favorites to become champions but in the end they were able to create a surprise by beating Liverpool and Leverkusen. Indeed, sometimes we only measure in terms of their depth and performance last season where Leverkusen and Liverpool performed quite well in the domestic league so that these two teams were favorites to become champions but both failed. Yes, even though in the last season we saw a lot of surprises that happened, I think next season this won't happen again. Where at every opportunity the stronger team must be able to play their game well without assuming that the opponent they are facing is weak.

Even with Atalanta success in becoming champions, of course many people were quite surprised by their good performance, but that's football where a team doesn't have to be taken weak. Competition is always fierce every season and every team that competes in the European league of course cannot be compared to their performance in the domestic league because different competitions are of course different in the way they play.
But it is indeed a fairness because after all, apart from the current performance, we will also see how they performed last season as a benchmark and of course the depth of the squad they have so it would be quite natural if we did not predict for Atalanta beforehand.

But as you said in the end this is indeed a surprise situation that cannot be avoided where the previous 2 favorites Liverpool and Leverkusen were wiped out by Atalanta even the score is the same where Atalanta also beat Liverpool with a score of 3 goals.  Atalanta problem now is that they have to be in the Champions League. The previous few seasons when they were in the Champions League their performance dropped dramatically because not only did they become the team at the bottom of the standings at that time they also declined in domestic competitions. Hopefully, things will be a little different now because it would be a shame if they return to the same difficult situation as a few seasons ago when they were in the Champions League.

I didn’t even know that Dortmund didn’t end up in a fourth position in the Bundesliga league this season until after seeing your reply, so does that mean that Dortmund won’t play Champion League next season? Dortmund didn’t take Bundesliga title seriously this season, all they wanted to win was the champion league and in the end, they ended up going home without no winning trophy, it will be a bad season for Dortmund because they mean this champion League and at the end, they end Real Madrid defeated them without no allowing them to win anything this season, Dortmund tries in the match but Real Madrid is playing with mentality against every team.

Dortmund is one of the best teams you can think of in Bundesliga,  but it is so surprising that they couldn't end the league to be in a top position for the season. Even if Dortmund was unable to lead Bundesliga or be among top teams, honestly their performance in champions league was great and reaching finals in the league is a big win for them. It is so interesting that Dortmund will be in participating in champions league next season because they are among the teams that made champions league interesting this season.

I will not agree that Liverpool and Leverkusen are stronger than Atalanta, and that it was because of the players great enthusiasm that made them to win these two clubs 3-0 each. All these clubs are playing in various leagues and they have their different tactics, which it is the one with the best tactics that can outsmart the other club that will win the game. Atalanta was stronger than both Liverpool and Leverkusen due to their game tactics. Atalanta was able to seal up their defense and uses counter to penetrate their opponents defense. One thing that surprises me is that they don't always miss a good one on one. It shows that they have professional strikers.
When a team played in the Champions League and also the European League, of course we can't compare them better than other teams, Atlanta passage to the final is actually quite surprising to all of us regardless of the quality and also the value of the squad they have compared to Liverpool, but indeed in football apart from the quality of the team, of course the strength of a team is not only determined by tactics,  But also by experience, mentality, team cohesion, and the ability to execute game plans well, so that it can make the team chances of winning greater than just a team that only has the quality of their squad.

In the final match, of course Leverkusen was the favorite to win considering that at that time Leverkusen was in an unbeaten condition throughout the season and indirectly of course it motivated Atlanta to be able to be the first team to beat Leverkusen this season, in my opinion, defense is the main factor for Atlanta to be able to beat Leverkusen in the match, because I see that Leverkusen attack was not able to penetrate the 3-defender scheme applied by Gasperini in the final match.

I think that it would be better if the OP changes the name of the topic from "UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season" to "UEFA Europa League 2024/25 Season". Opening a new topic would also be a good option to distinguish the new season from the past one.  Smiley

I would like to ask your opinion on the new system approaching in the Europa League. Do you believe it is going to be fun or were you already happy with the group stage system?

There isn't going to be such thing like teams to come from the Champions League in the knockout stage anymore by the way. I feel like this will affect the quality of the tournament negatively. Because Champions League teams were quite able to upset the balances. What do you think on this?  Huh

Next season's champions league will be tough and very competitive. Some new teams are to participate in the competition next season, with Aston Villa of England qualifying, and Girona of Lalliga qualifying too, these are teams who are not always in the champions league qualification zone, they will be there next season to prove and see what they can do in the competition. One team I will be excited to watch is Leverkusen,I really love what they did in their league last season, and in Europe as a whole despite not winning the Europa league and losing it to Atalanta,I still think they can have a significant impact in the champions league next season, and would go far in the competition.

Bundesliga got extra quota for UEFA Champion League participants although Dortmund finished on 5th standings position in domestic league but will participants in Champion League not Europe League. Not only with Bundesliga but also Serie A has best coefficient values after getting five Champion League ticket for next season and potential has six appearance teams but Roma failed finish on 5th standings position after Atalanta winning the Europe League.

The winner of Europe League get direct promotion ticket for participating in Champion League and give advantage for domestic league if the winner teams finish outside Champion League spot standings. La Liga ever had 5 teams participants in Champion League after Sevilla won UEFA Europe League and other side finish outside from top fourth standings position.

Atalanta is the luckiest club because it was able to give Leverkusen its first defeat and at the same time win the Europa League trophy. It is understandable why many bettors are only looking towards Leverkusen, with a 51 match unbeaten record, it seems quite impossible to place Atalanta as the team that will come out on top. It's true, in football anything can happen, and I think the Europa League final match will often be used as a reference for the reverse possibilities for a match.

However, Leverkusen also deserves appreciation, they created several amazing moments against Qarabag, and indeed Atalanta was even more amazing by eliminating Liverpool. Meanwhile, Atalanta and Leverkusen will take part in the Champions League next season. For both teams, this competition is certainly more difficult and competitive, but it is not impossible that both of them will again surprise many people there. Next, Atalanta will face Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup match, I don't think Atalanta will be lucky again.

Wow, I never know about this rule, I am among the people counting on Dortmund to play the UEFA Europa League next season.
If that is the case, then it is fine and they Dortmund will not feel bad for not winning the Champions League final against Madrid.

I just hope this is applied to other Leagues too, I don’t know how to calculate it, but I heard that even the Italian Seria A side, they will be having five slot as well?
Is that true?
If yes pls can you explain more on how it is been done?
