Poland squad looks good on paper, but in recent few years they're looking so disappointing and changing managers doesn't helps much. Even playing at home they don't have much what to offer against Portugal. While Ronaldo continue to score.
Surprised that Spain - Denmark game ended with just 1 goal, despite such big Spain dominance. And Croatia win against Scotland was really dramatic with Scotland goal getting cancelled after VAR review on 95th minute.
I am already mostly skeptical about Ronaldo's performances at the top level, but he continues to surprise. Always maximum motivation, always works at 100%. Today, in addition to the goal, he made an assist. Poland is really performing worse than it should, and after today's defeat, only Croatia can try to challenge Portugal for first place.
His reasons to go to the Saudi Profession League are comprehensible as I assume that nobody around here would have refused a contract like he got offered...
But what I would liked more is if he decided back then to join a club like Borussia Dortmund. I remember that there was some talk about it, but of course it was no option anymore once he got this offer from the Saudis. But for his overall performance level I think it would have helped him maintain great performance levels for even longer and it would have been interesting to see what he can do with a top 10 or top 12 club against the best teams in Europe.
Now that he plays in Saudi Arabia, the only thing that keeps him in the loop for the national team is goals. I think it applies more so to him than to other younger strikers. He either scores more or less nonstop, or he would probably be out quite soon.
But so far yes, he doesn't stop scoring those goals although at times the opponents on the international level are certainly not the best.
