In their first fight, Rumble came out too aggressive.

He went straight at DC. That made it easier for DC to get the takedown.

If Rumble is more patient & takes his time, the fight should be much more even.

I still think Rumble will win, even if DC did finish him the first time.

I think it's unfortunate that DC gets always the worst odds. How can he be the underdog? DC is obviously not the underdog in this fight, he will probably win, AJ will need luck to catch him.
It is good to have Daniel Cormier as the underdog and if he wins, its more money as simple as that. Smiley Johnson is a knock out artist and that makes a difference in the minds of odds makers but i am interested to hear the trash talking by Gegard Mousasi,it is really funny to hear him speak like that because now a days people are forced to talk trash to get title fights. Cheesy and i am backing Mousasi to with the fight simply because of his fight experience from middle weight to heavyweight and has defeated Mark Hunt  Shocked Jacare Souza even though he lost the second fight to a much improved Souza it is a feather in his cap and he was a light heavy and middle weight weight champion in Dream and a Strikeforce light heavy weight champion and with 49 fights and 41 wins and just 6 losses it is impressive and he is just 31 years of age.

Yep AJ has improved and I expect a good performance but I still think that DC is going to be the best one and win. I think DC vs John Bon Jones 2 is the great heavyweight match that it's missing. I don't think AJ is at the level of being competitive against Bones Jones.

I think the odds moving to Rumble Johnson and away from Cormier, making him the slight underdog is showing to be correct.  Watching the media day face offs, I could see that the champion is a bit overweight and he also looks haggard.  Weight cutting issues perhaps?

@pereira4. I am positive AJ has learned a lot from their first fight. Dan Hardy outlined it correctly in the Inside the Octagon video posted by tokeweed. AJ will keep his distance and he will avoid doing any dirty boxing with Daniel in the 1st and 2nd rounds. If AJ gets a clean hit he should also try to avoid getting excited and throw too much strikes so that he will not gas out.

Also AJ improved more than Daniel since the first fight.

There are a lot of unanswered questions revolving around the main event.
Can Anthony Johnson last 5 rounds?
Can he stop Daniel Cormier's takedowns the way Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson did?
Cormier didn't look good when he fought Anderson Silva & hasn't defended his belt since 2015.
There are questions about where Cormier is as well.
Antony Johnson does not need five rounds to win the match, but he will be carefull this time around and i am sure he wont spend all his energy in the first round trying to knock him down and remember that Johnson is a wrestler and this time he has trained especially for Cormier and i am sure it wont be the same this time around and with Cormier injured most of the time and has not fought in a long time and age is not helping him either,it is really hard to predict the condition they are in .

Anthony Johnson is a dead man walking as soon as he makes a mistake and gets taken down by Daniel Cormier. If things go as they should, I think DC is going to be able to dodge AJ's striking for the first couple of rounds. I think it's going to be a bit boring just like the Jon Jones fight. DC fights very slow against good strikers, he will be cautious, wait for the mistake and go to the ground then it's game over.

You just described the 1st fight between them. AJ, if he is smart must learn from his mistakes. He must not allow himself to be fully controlled on the ground. There are 2 things he can do. Avoid being taken down or improve is ground game.

I hope he learnt from the 1st first fight and adjust. Otherwise, if will be just a replay of the first fight. If Rumble can't KO Cormier in the first or second round, he is toast. His chances of winning will diminish as the round goes by. That will be his strategy go for the KO because we all know that if he gets tired, all is lost and game over.

You already know the kind of adjustment he needs to do. You said If Rumble can't KO Cormier in the first or second round, he is toast. His chances of winning will diminish as the round goes by.

What AJ needs to do is not to be toast and be calm if he cannot KO Daniel. He also wants to keep his distance versus someone like Daniel.

Problem is if AJ doesn't KO Daniel fast, DC will read his moves and he will be able to get a takeoff down the lane at around 3-4 round. Maybe in 5th round when both are tired AJ can attempt some crazy unexpected KO and hope DC makes a mistake.

Finally we have a breakdown of Gegard Mousasi vs Chris Weidman.  For the most part I think Dan Hardy is trying to imply that this could be a win by Weidman.  Dunno, just my first impression after watching the video.  I'll have to watch it again later.  What do you guys think?

@SaShiRaJaVu. Was he? It looked like AJ was already starting to give up when he saw that he could not KO Daniel early in the 1st fight. I hope he learned from that fight and he should prepare and expect this to reach 5 rounds.

The question still remains.  Is Rumble Johnson fit enough mentally to go toe to toe with Cormier in the championship rounds just in case he doesn't knock the wrestler out early?  My answer:  Maybe.  But I'm not that confident because we have not seen any other fighter put Johnson in a tough situation apart from Cormier.  I think we'll see some similarities in the first fight except Johnson might take a more cautious approach and not get too excited.
I am sure he is mentally strong and if you look at the fights after the first fight against Cormier you would know that. The main difference i see in this match is that he is preparing for Cormier and before that he was training for Jon Jones so it might be a major difference and Johnson does have a good take down defense as he is a wrestler himself,i might make my decision after seeing the official weigh ins.

Hey guys, we have a week to go before the event so why not start watching some videos and start to get pumped for it.  Wink

Sometimes it helps watching these videos in deciding on who to bet on.  Krach would say otherwise, but hey...  That's just me.  I like getting pumped before any UFC event as I believe most of the lines the sports books have are mostly efficient anyway.  But there's value from time to time, of course.  The bottom line is, I want to be entertained.

@thejaytiesto everyone seems to predict the match in favor of Daniel Cormier because they know the blue print on what Cormier will be doing in this rematch and what many do not understand is that Antony Johnson was preparing to fight Jon Jones and Cormier was a sudden replacement and this time Johnson is preparing solely for Cormier and that is the reason i am interested to see this match because i wanted to see how prepared Johnson really is.
