I will be a contrarian on this and I will be on team Izzy. He might have learned a new tactic in his homeland on the mountain ranges of China hehehehe. There might be a kungfu master there who will teach him new types of kicks and I predict that this will knockout this African Dricus. These fighters from China similar to Izzy do not surrender to a challenge hehehe.

In any case, if Izzy is the winner, does this imply that the king of Africa is a Chinese?

Hehe if am being serious, I speculate Izzy will win against Dricus.
He will win, that's my take on that fight.

Well, he is Nigerian, New Zealander, and Chinese. It's strange but this dude performs really well that it will be a waste to miss his fights. I am also going for Adesanya here and I think with all the talents he can showcase he can beat DDP. He will just have to avoid the knuckles of the champion that could become a critical key to win the fight.

@rdbase thank you for the link to the media day.

Here is the Full fight of Robert Whittaker against Paulo Costa.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Eg6VzMsWx8
It's nice to be refreshed again of how tough Robert Whittaker is. Paulo kicked him in the head on that first round and he wobbled and yet he recovered way too fast to defend himself and he never fell. So tough but so does Paulo absorbing all the punches from Whittaker.

I never watched Ikram Aliskerov fighting in octagon and it is interesting to see five canceled bouts in his MMA record, lets hope this one wont be canceled.
He only had two fights in UFC so I cant judge how good he is and what he can do against Whittaker.
This is tricky one to predict, Aliskerov is underdog against Whittaker, but I see he has a better record and reach advantage.
https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/mma/ufc/ufc-fight-night-whittaker-vs-chimaev/whittaker-robert-vs-aliskerov-ikram-666b7c10aafd2b0001e4956d
It is a rather interesting matchup because if I am being honest not many people have seen Aliskerov fights.
With what you have mentioned, this fighter has had so many cancelled bouts and it has been a horrible trending lately especially for main events.
Let's hope this is not the case for this fight night too.

Here is the Saudi Arabian Fight Night Media Day which I caught in the middle of it because of the time zones when I woke up a little while ago:

It really makes perfect sense. Knowing Connor's character, the clauses for him to return will certainly include some percentage of the event's box office, if not from sponsors. It's a shame, I really wanted to see him again, so I hope he loses more visibility and leaves all this arrogance aside.
Conor made a video recently explaining for himself what this injury is and a possible return to the octagon September 14 at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

https://x.com/EdParker02/status/1801604876352291004

This could all be for nought and just to throw more wood onto this dumpster fire of a comeback I had ever seen.
I have never heard of anything from the UFC about this and this was supposedly released by Conor on his own.
If that is so, then you are 100% correct in saying this was all about negotiations and getting the biggest bang for scheduling it for international fight week instead.

Well it's true. Izzy could win the fight by a wide margin and I say this because I think they both have serious metrics that can actually contribute to making this a close fight. If Izzy can make a clean hit, DDP will lose. I haven't checked it yet but the odds probably favor Izzy.  He learned it all from Master Po but I think he will win the fight by UD.

I don't know if they mentioned it here, because I didn't see it. But Dana White said the following about Chimaev:

Quote
The problem is we don't really know. I saw a video of him on the ground, extremely sick. He's not doing well at all. He's been hospitalized again. Every time he's close to fighting, he gets really sick. I don't know, I don't know what to say. It's not like he's here in this country and we have doctors here to check on him or anything. He's kind of out of touch, so it's hard to deal with that.

So apparently he got sick over there, wherever he is, but he didn't want to be around the UFC doctors. I never understand why these fighters don't want to be around the UFC itself.

Dan lies all the time. Fans don't believe Conor was even injured. Conor vs Chandler fight didn't make a big sale and UFC wouldn't pay him what he asked so they didn't agree on a deal. That's what the rumor says. But check his interview https://x.com/jimrome/status/1802803402185048483

Fight night this weekend is on prefect time for asian countries as it starts at 9:30 PM for me and ends around 2 AM  Cool  (compared to usual 4-5am starts)

Whittaker vs Aliskerov is the main event and whittaker is the favorite at 1.71 odds,

I dont see prop bets yet on my site yet so I may be ignorant but Aliskerov has only fought in UFC 2 times vs people i dont really recognise,

so whittaker at 1.71 odds might be a really good play, although the odds do sus me out a little, was expecting 1.5 perhaps  Shocked

I'm not sure if he could actually beat Pantoja but Taira is one fighter to watch out. Maybe one more fight before the title shot. Taira vs Moreno, even if he loses, Taira is still young and could try again with Royval.
Oh yeah, he definitely has a lot of future after watching that fight. Taira is something rare. What he did made me curious about what else he can do next time he fights again.
Perfect record. I think Dana White should think about rushing this young dude for the championship belt. Dana wants more viewers, here comes one that is definitely entertaining.

UFC 305 fight card: Dricus du Plessis vs. Israel Adesanya set for middleweight title main event in Australia
Quote
The champion will head into enemy territory this August to face a bitter rival
Israel Adesanya is back and he's coming for the title once again. Adesanya announced on Monday that he will face UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis in the main event of UFC 305 from RAC Arena in Perth, Australia on Aug. 17. The champ confirmed the fight in his Instagram stories but the fight has not officially been confirmed by UFC.

Not officially confirmed but I am positive this will happen. I am all in with Adesanya here, he is going to prove that he owns that title one more time. DDP is strong without a doubt but the Stylebender has been claiming back his title after it was taken from him. Knocking out Pereira was definitely big.

I think it's confirmed already since Izzy posted it too. It's his account https://www.instagram.com/p/C8T1SFEJa0g/

While Strickland should have attempted this rematch first since he has the claim, the fans seem to be more welcoming to Izzy and people like to see him fight again than Sean. The man was having mental issues recently and suddenly shut up on social media.

I think DDP will be knocking Izzy actually or probably submit. Or this is just what I hope will happen.  Grin

I think Robert Whittaker will win this fight.
The link name in Sportsbet has not changed yet because of the sudden pullout of Chimaev due to "violent illness". So, there's a chance Aliskerov has not prepared well against Whittaker and Robert could take advantage of that.

From what I recall in watching the fight it was a strange attack where he just acted like a backpack on him and with some violent movements that at first I thought it was caused by Perez trying to shake him off.
But then you notice it happened a few times so it was actually Tatsuro forcing more pressure on that one leg of Alex.
Causing it to fracture somewhere to the point of him not being able to support his own weight let alone his opponents.
It was a designed takedown attempt by Taira from what the article states.

Was a great fight in showcasing what Tatsuro Taira can do and what we can expect from him and Japanese fighters can bring to the UFC with new and innovative moves just as this one.

Something new. Seeing that he isn't successful in the rare-naked choke, he bends back with more leverage to lift Perez very damaging since the body triangle made Perez ineffective.

I'm not sure if he could actually beat Pantoja but Taira is one fighter to watch out. Maybe one more fight before the title shot. Taira vs Moreno, even if he loses, Taira is still young and could try again with Royval.

I missed the fights. Father's Day. Happy Father's Day to all.

Anyway, I was right. The Japanese star is still spotless. It ended with a KO/TKO, making me curious about what happened in the game. I will definitely watch the replay later.

After seeing this photo it made me more curious about what the heck happened to that fight.  Grin

Looks like this UFC Fight Night will begin in the next 5 minutes but these are only the early prelims and none of the fights interest me.
Actually none of them do but the main event will be nice to see the Japanese prospect win this match then they can start talking about making an event in Japan starring him and the fighter who signed to the UFC from RIZIN.

^^ So true @Pumared !

Alot of pull outs for UFC 303 including the main and co-main events!

Just seen it on TheWeasle's podcast so fact checked and verified from the screen above.
Also from the following sites:
https://www.mmafighting.com/2024/6/13/24177823/conor-mcgregor-vs-michael-chandler-off-alex-pereira-vs-jiri-prochazka-2-now-headlines-ufc-303
https://www.ufc.com/news/alex-pereira-rematches-jiri-prochazka-new-ufc-303-main-event

So no McGregor nor Jamahal Hill.
Pereira vs Jiri II is good so I don't see people complaining about it and asking for refunds just because of Conor getting injured to not fight.

Poatan is very brave to put everything on the line again. Even though he recently admitted that he is recovering from some fractures in his fingers and legs, if I am not mistaken, he is fighting again. It will be a great fight and I hope he wins again!

I think cooperating with OneFC will be good for them, cross promotion after all fans still want to see DJ Mighty Mouse in the flyweight.

After the first announcement that Conor might not be able to fight, they still promoted Conor for ticket sales. I think people expect the come back especially the Irishmen. Complaining can do nothing though it's as if the UFC will refund.

Jamahal from the start doesn't want this fight, I guess the injury is giving him a favor. He has been talking shit to Pereira the entire time on Twitter and expects a rematch as well.

Funny how you mentioned about Japanese fighters and with this next event happening it all seemed to be a well thoughout and planned to fall into place by the UFC.
I think UFC is maybe planning to expand more to Japan and Asia in future with big events.
They need to have more top fighters from this regions if they are going to be popular ion the whole world, not just in Japan.
I wish we could see comeback of some quality sumo wrestlers in UFC in heavyweight division, that would be fun to watch.

Recently they lost a lot of Asian legends and they ended up not being so attached to the fighters. But if I'm not mistaken they must still have good fighters with big fans. Korean Zombie, for example, was a big loss.
