LESS THAN  24HRS -  until the UltraCoin fork
So - if you have a Win64 operating system - just download and run "UltraCoin-v1.0.0.0-Win64-Setup.exe"

Once the installation has completed - you need to be sure to run the correct ultracoin-qt.exe so the NEW wallet opens (i.e. don't use your old desktop shortcut).

Best create a new desktop shortcut - as follows

- Navigate to C/Program Files/Ultracoin folder
- Find the file ultracoin-qt.exe
- Create a shortcut to this file - and put it on your desktop.

I have installed Win7 (x64) I have, previously, UTC was set to Win7 (x86) and the weird thing is - I downloaded and ran "UltraCoin-v1.0.0.0-Win64-Setup.exe" I Went to the installation process. After that, UTC launched automatically and started to sync (yay), BUT in C/Program Files/Ultracoin folder - no. Only in "Program Files (x86) and the exe file there is dated (22.02.2015). Now I wonder where to get the new file to run ultracoin-qt.exe. Searched the entire PC - I can't find a new one.

Hi barbados-fs

Thats a very interesting but strange problem.

The good news is that its on your computer - and it works!

So it exists somewhere - you just have to find it somehow.

Maybe @Presstab might have some advice to find it?

First - just check that you have not "hidden folders and files" applied to C:\Program Files on Windows Explorer (this would stop you seeing the folders in program files when you do a manual search yourself on the computer)  In the Control Panel you need to make sure "show hidden files and folders is selected. (Control Panel/Appearance and Personalisation/Folder Options)

I have installed and many others - and it always end up in C:\Program Files\UltraCoin

I can only suggest a search with the Windows Explorer open on "This PC" for ultracoin-qt.exe - it shows me every instance of ultracoin-qt.exe on my computer (and the path/location date installed etc)

here is a video showing you how - for Win7

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQcA47Mqcj4

and another

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fwxk1W2_dPU

otherwise also do a Google search "how to find a file on windows 7"

hope this helps

I'm so sorry to hear about earthquake and tsunami. I think that supermoon has caused this.

I'm sorry to hear that you had such a horrible time, but at least you weren't injured and I hope nobody you know was!

I'm also glad to hear you're OK. Take care of you!

Congratulations to the whole team!

We have successfully passed the fork block.

Morning Alenevva

I was unlucky enough to be in the right place to have a rather large earthquake last night - a few dead here and many injured.  We even had a tsunami 2 hrs after the quake.  Not much sleep.  I have just woken up and got things a little organised.

I will check out stats and everything in detail later - but for now it certainly looks like the fork went smoothly.

Great work everyone.

I sure hope the fork didn't cause the earthquake - it started just before the fork and went on all night   Huh
Crazy and weird timing...........

LESS THAN  24HRS -  until the UltraCoin fork

Please make sure to update your wallets

WALLET UPDATE REQUIRED

Ultracoin is hardforking to a new and much improved wallet. This new wallet addresses many issues including the diff re-targeting causing trouble for miners and includes more efficient staking plus increased staking rewards (new wallet after fork - 5.6% PA).

The fork date is set for Wednesday, October 12th , 2016 (block number 1,824,237).

You should download, install and run the new wallet - preferably before the fork date.  The old wallet will not function correctly after the fork.

The new wallet files can be downloaded from here:

https://mega.nz/#F!nAVymCQa!wdJ4DMaULSptCqC5BX8fCw

This link has downloads for both 32x and 64x Windows installations.

The simplest installation of the new wallet is via running the appropriate setup.exe for your Windows operating system - either 32x or 64x i.e. "UltraCoin-v1.0.0.0-Win64-Setup.exe" or "UltraCoin-v1.0.0.0-Win32-Setup.exe"

This applies if you want to install a NEW Ultracoin wallet - OR if you want to update an old installation.

Use this new shortcut to run the new wallet (and best to delete your old desktop shortcut)

As always - be sure to back up and save your wallet files (wallet.dat) to several other storage devices.

If you know what you are doing - you can use the .zip files shown in the MEGA download link (i.e. ultracoin-qt-v1.0.0.0-Win64.zip) to manually configure your own wallet installation.

See you all on the other side of the fork............

My debug.log was 17GB, any way I can keep that thing trimmed to say 500MB at most? Or should I use a 3rd party tool to handle log trimming? The only concern I have with a 3rd party utility is that the UltraCoin-QT program keeps the log file open constantly and I run into permission issues when I attempt to trim it.

Any suggestions other than shutting down the wallet, deleting the debug file and restarting the wallet (I'll never remember to do that).

Hi bret

I'm no expert here - but that must be a very old wallet with a lot of staking.  All my wallets are about 1GB for debug log. I have no knowledge of an automated trim function for the debug log.

As a matter of housekeeping with wallets - I transfer everything (all UTC and other currencies) to new virgin wallets on a regular basis (every 6-12 months).  This keeps inputs etc down and makes for wallets to operate more efficiently.  If its a staking wallet its seems more important.  This is also true for BTC as high numbers of inputs slow wallets for signing - and worse still it causes high fees esp in BTC.

This is just a suggestion - I personally would open my debug log in notepad and edit the contents - only keep the last couple of sessions.  Then SAVE again.  If you ever think you might want the older data in the log - just copy and past the log somewhere else (or rename it in the Ultracoin folder).

You could consider transferring all your UTC in that wallet to a brand new one at some point (no rush and not required - just suggested - but wait till after the fork) - Create a series of NEW ADDRESSES in your new wallet - then back up your new wallet keys "wallet.dat" files) a few small transactions to test (test both rec and send from the new wallet just to make sure of everything - esp the password - test every new address)  - then transfer in chunks to the several new addresses in a new wallet.  Then back up your wallet keys again and regularly to make sure you capture any new addresses you might add or "change" addresses from transactions.

Its an interesting thing I learnt the hard way is that old backups of keys don't seem to carry newer change addresses - and any new addresses that you might add yourself. In HD (Hierarchical Deterministic) wallets they do - but in non HD wallets they don't.  You have to back up your keys on a regular basis.  UTC is not an HD wallet - there are advantages and disadvantages for both.

My sincere thanks to all who have contributed to this important project (and my apologies that it dragged out a bit):

- Those who helped fund the development
- Those in the Community who helped with discussion and solid moral support
- Those on the Dev team especially Alenevaa and Rapture333
- A special mention of praise to Alenevaa for setting up the test fork pool - but especially for finding and fixing the one last issue that almost stumped us - AND his tireless efforts to fix the spam issues and get us to the fork
- Those who assisted in testing - especially bathrobehero who donated his bountiful hash to nuke the test fork chain many times and confirm diff retargeting
- And a special thanks to the powerhouse behind all of this - PressTab

Lest we not forget the families and friends of the above - who suffered along the way.

Hi barbados-fs

The wallets all sync at the moment.

Just warning you that it took me 4 days to sync new wallets from scratch (and also to note that as the wallets sync through the spam transactions they may freeze a few seconds then recover a few times - and continue sync).

Hi

Hi barbados-fs

looks like you have a connection problem - your wallet is more than not finding peers - its completely OFFLINE

just connected and synced this wallet - 6 peer connections. As you can see everything is working fine.

Maybe you use a VPN that does not allow P2P connections?  Or your ISP blocks P2P connections - or you have something else configured to interfere with P2P connections?

try checking your "debug log" for some clues on whats happening

On wallet - at top click HELP - select Debug Window
Select - "Blockchain" Tab

go to Debug Log File - OPEN

scroll to bottom and work up and see what messages the wallet is giving?

If you are not using a .conf file (and you should not need to anyhow) - Try inserting these peers into a ultracoin.conf file in your AppData>Roaming>Ultracoin folder
