I confirm that I'm now the proud owner of 1,000,000 UltraCoin tokens on the WAVES platform plus 1,000 Waves Bitcoin Tokens issued by the same person. Time to watch the UTC thread again.

this is not official UltraCoin business

Seems that some of our colleagues over on the WAVES platform have created the "UltraCoin" asset.  Its a token on the WAVES platform.
https://wavesplatform.com/

I have been approached anon to deliver this to the UltraCoin Community for your individual consideration.

It's obviously a WAVES promotion - but read on.

(MOVED TO Ultracointalk.org - since it it may transgress BCT rules??  Seriously?)

Pros sound good!
Ok, are there any drawbacks doing that?
Is there anyone in the community that can do something like this? Or do we need to hire someone again?
Will it require a new fork?

I say yes, yes and yes, good luck

My suggestions are

1. Update the codebase to more recent bitcoin codebase. This will be huge task and will take time but it will improve wallet resuorce usage and speed significantly.
2. Optimize wallet staking code so that it creates less UTXO and consolidates more. This will reduce wallet RAM usage while keeping staking income stable.

I think those two will be more than enough for time being, especially updating to most recent bitcoin codebase as it will touch almost all parts of the code.

Nice to see you back Steven.
Good to get the website updated.
Regarding coinpayments I will help you with the cost 50 % if you go forward with that, although I think there will still be low volume regarding the price of UTC being low thus requiring you have to sell a lot of UTC to buy things, but maybe it is just me thinking like that.
I'm still positive to Coinomi, but I think it was a steep price and I don't think we have sufficient funds for that if we don't get more contribution from the community, I'm still willing to take 10 % of that cost if we choose to introduce UTC there.
About the North American Bitcoin Conference, positive to get re-invited but I think it depends of the price and ROI.

like sambiohazard wrote about the active development/improvement of the protocol and wallet; what inputs do we have at the moment from the community, what is it we want to change or implement in the next stage, do we have any suggestions at the moment?

Nice to hear from you steven, all your proposals sound great but all of them are related to community outreach and social networking. I am worried that there has been no "roadmap" regarding the technical development. IMHO all of the social/business interactions are futile if there is no active development/improvement of the protocol and wallet. I think we should first decide on how we are going to improve on technical side so that we have an answer for potential investors & community members when they ask "WHY UTC".

Hello everyone,

I am sorry for my absence this past week, I have been moving and my computer and modem have been in multiple boxes the past few days. I just wanted to give an update on what we are working on now in the short term and will be giving a long-term game plan soon thereafter. Currently, the main areas of opportunity are the website, coinomi and coinpayments. The website needs to be moved on to the new server and updated which is what I am currently working on now, I will be able to update the sub-domains and edit the website content once this is done. The old curator of the website is long gone and the passwords need to be changed from the inside. As for coinomi it is obvious that this would be a great exposure for Ultracoin and a huge solution for those whom run multiple wallets and like the idea of a single client solution on their PC! Communication with Coinomi is currently underway and I will update the community as things progress. Coinpayments.net has agreed to feature Ultracoin once again, however it will require a $250 fee for 90 days and continuation based on volume, which I am willing to absorb personally as long as there is community interest in using the platform. In the past Coinpayments had little to no Ultracoin, but the service has grown substantially and the number of vendors has skyrocketed, now is the season to buy gifts and using your Ultracoin to do it will be outstanding! Lastly, as Ultracoin was previously showcased at the North American Bitcoin Conference back in 2015 we have been invited back for the 2017 conference in Miami, FL, USA. I am debating the potential ROI of participating again with a table, while the exposure and name recognition is great, it may be more worthwhile to attend for networking purposes instead and to explore new and upcoming technology while forging partnerships and potential business deals. This is very exciting as events like these have always historically put Ultracoin at the forefront with out participation. As 2016 comes to a close I foresee a very bright 2017 ahead for Ultracoin, enjoy the holidays with your friends & family this season and let's prepare to grow together.

Sincerely,

Steven "Rapture" Nekhaila
Chair of the Ultracoin Committee

this is just a "heads up" to the UltraCoin Community

Please be aware that Steven (Rapture333) has now taken over the leadership role in Ultracoin. As previously announced I would step down and into the background once the new wallet and fork was completed.  This is now the case.

Steven will be back with an update shortly.

I agree 100%. The only reason I reported this in the first place was to make the team aware of the issue so they could catalog it and decide if/when it needs to be fixed. It's hardly a critical issue, but it is a bug and I wanted to let the team know about it. Sounds like others have noticed too, but since it's not really a critical issue most of us just work around it.

Now my wallet have been staking for little more than an hour after "clear orphans" (did it 5 times during this period), still no orphans, no 0.0.
Approx 45+ incoming confirmed stakes of various amounts.
Wallet up to date, block 1845038, 5 active connections

Perhaps the glitch only occur IF you do get a rare orphan and then you "clear orphans"?

Thanks wtfc360

PressTab says that he did not touch that part of the code - so he's not sure what the issue is.

It seems that if you do not run the "clear orphan" function - you don't get the glitch and your wallet stakes on with no problems.
If you don't get orphans and you run clear orphans - you don't have any problems (its only the rare case when you do get orphans - and I have not had ANY since the fork).
If you do get lots of orphans - check your computing environment out.  Perhaps try a wallet consolidation if you have an old wallet with lots of small transactions and stakes.

If you do run clear orphans - just restart your wallet.
Don't forget that you should get 0.0 for an orphan anyway (the 0.0 is only reporting that the stake was a null value) - the main concern (@bret) is that sometimes the wallet freezes after clearing orphans - so if you do want to clear orphans (and its not required its just an aesthetics thing) just restart the wallet to update the ledger and get syncing and staking again.

We can look into this next time we do a wallet upgrade.  Its not a serious issue and certainly does not require a fork or anything.

To put it in perspective - if thats the only glitch we have after a new wallet and hard fork - its damn good IMO.

Thanks all for reporting and investigating.

Cheers - usukan
