How/why does the official Unobtanium-Qt wallet (Win 7 pro) get out of sync?  When I see no mining revenue -- that I know should be there -- coming into it, I kill it, restart it immediately, and all of a sudden it's XX hours "behind".  Once it's finally caught up, I see the formerly missing mining revenue.  How/why does this happen?

Related to this, any word on the merge-mining?

I don't know... I have not seen this problem myself.
The network is healthy.
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/#!network

How often does it happen? How many peers do you see?

By the way, check out the cool Geo-location chart at Chainz.

Are gonna have some fun, folks? Who will put one precious Uno in a pot for the person who makes . . .

the first post on the 300th page? I will.

Images no fair!

[And it'll cascade from the second that a second person throws into the pot. It could be mere minutes away. QUICK tee hee]

@Jelks ... I justed sync'd no problem.
But various mixes of QT.version and Windows.version can have different results.  On/Off seems to fix the problem you describe.

==================
Thought of the day.

BTC, LTC have been treated as investments ... they are not.  This is misinformation.  Bad thinking.  Wrong.

UNO is the investment instrument.  Reason >> Low Inflation
(store of value +plus yield)

BTC, LTC maybe (and currently are) the money instrument.  They have failed miserably too at this.
Reason >> What is the value?  Neither have held a solid price point.  YET.

but they will sooner or later

You can start to see a general concept is taking hold on  coinmarketcap.com ... the field is stabilizing.

In short
BTC, LTC will find a price point that will and must hold stable for 10-20 years.  The inflation kills off rises in price evaluation.
They must flatline or else Ripple (a 70% held and micromanaged coin) will take their cake.  And if not Ripple then the spin-off Stella-R (97% held).

Doge is also well positioned in terms of being understandable by the general public
(base money supply +sustain reward 10%)

Nubits too.  Simple concept $1 = 1 nubit.
(but in this case the public investors can hold Nushares verses the private equity of Ripple/Stellar)

These are the money coins and they must function as pegs to the dollar. (more or less)

UNO, Quark, Zeta, IX, Black, NXT, CP these are low inflation coins and can store value and constantly move up.

The biggest winners in this (SoV) category must discover ways to make that stored value 'use full' ... traditionally that's been called enterprise.

"Coinbase spies on there users shopping behaviour and terminates accounts it doesn’t like. We are where we were before the invention of bitcoin, we’ve just changed the companies to be dependant upon."

https://medium.com/@kaibakker/bitcoin-volatility-6ebf941a4f81

Hmmm . . . what if the crypto community chose to provide some of these same services, but kept it all inhouse? An exchange perhaps? A currency? etc etc?

Have you guys tried Cryptapus' JS Wallet?

https://cryptap.us/uno/jswallet/

It's a Javascript wallet. Very cool. Protect that URL! But an easy way to access a Uno wallet from virtually any device.

Pundits are talking Btc down to the 180's or lower.

I know exactly what that's going to do the price of Uno vs Bitcoin.  Glad to be hodling Uno. It's really easy to imagine .02 by end of month.

[little whisper] hey, guys, the next time cragv passes through, ask him how far back he started mining!

'What makes for great service in the service industry?'

Gee, Benefactor, I sure do like the idea that this community has a 'service industry' approach to our development. For example, I think the use of the word 'noobie' in the crypto realm is counterproductive.

All in all, it's The Mall, the idea that this core community can make 100 times more money by leveraging the community than by leveraging just Unobtanium.

You must be still young, right? Best is to not take advice from others but make own conclusions and act on those.

A NOTE ON AD HOMINEM USAGE IN THE COMMUNITY

The Unobtanium community has earned a reputation as being principle-driven, inclusive, and supportive, a positive reputation.

The term ad hominem comes from the latin, "to the person," and is a faulty reasoning error, often used in propaganda, manipulation, etc.  It is when a person is attacked, instead of attacking that person's argument.

What makes for great service in the service industry?  Even if a person has faults, they are treated with respect.  In a positive environment, there is plenty of room for everyone to grow.

Wink

I need to say it too, Bravo! We are all far from perfect. Imperfection is what drives evolution. We are just a collection of successful failures. Nature has a funny way of working, throwing enough shit at the walls and waiting for something to stick although i must admit i am rather partial of my thumbs. They come in handy!

I will often ask the same question in different ways to ascertain knowledge. Sometimes the people answering questions don't view things in the same light and asking the question in a different manner might help them have that "A-HA!" moment.

Why are people sleeping on Uno? The same reason they would sleep on any coin. Lack of knowledge. Fear of the unknown. Perhaps they have been burnt in the past and don't wanna feel the heat again. I think a lot of it has to do with the get rich quick aspects that people tend to associate with crypto. For better or worse. As has been mentioned many times prior, it is speculation. There aren't many other coins out there structured like Uno. I think more and more people will turn attention to Uno if for nothing more than something they use to forecast what might take place with other coins 5-15 years down the line.

Uno's reputation isn't on the line for failing to miss deadlines or having gimmicks that don't work. Uno is utilitarian in my eyes. It serves a purpose, it knows it's role, and it does it well. It is almost easier for me to say what Uno isn't rather than what it is.

Guys, I need some assistance. Would this coin be worth mining using my GPU? I have an AMD 6670.

Short answer is 'no'. It was, about a year ago, but no longer on account of mining difficulty.

Longer answer can be found yourself with the help of this mining profitability calculator.

Thank you for your answer. I guess I have to stick with X11.

Multi-Pool you some UNO >> Scrypt or x11

Agreed! I toss a little X11 hash at Jumbucks at http://mp.coinmarketscoin.com/  and I'm getting Uno payouts from them.  Give it a try.

No problems. I'm in Australia and found scrypt mining (let alone SHAXXX variants) became unprofitable many months ago. If I had solar power instead of paying $$$ for grid, then it might be a different story. Still, the gains made by buying and holding UNO have destroyed any sort of mining profit I'd have made with a small, home setup!

Still, mining is something to be encouraged. You can join scrypt pools that automatically select the most profitable coin/s to mine and give you the mining dividends in either that particular coin or all in one currency (BTC, DOGE, etc.). Coinwarz also has a mining profitability rankings page that shows you the most profitable coin to mine at the minute (it is quite volatile).
