"merge-mine VTC, MON, PLX and other merge-mined coins on the VTC chain"

MON and PLX are free if you mine VTC
DOGE and UMbrella and SYS are free if you mine LTC
ix,io,dev, name are free bonus if you mine BTC

UN investors don't need to worry about the value or drama of a merged coin ... just as much as VTC investors don't worry about MON politics.

The value-added is attracting more hash power to SHA256/3min.

I think we are nearing the time to act.  Pick up one of these SHA256 that gained some notice but faded away and are just clinging on for dear life, or pitch to GOAT, ORO, MEA (since they are at 3min already).  For brand name symmetry I like UNB / UNIC / UNAT Tongue

I like the ticker shorthand - BIG (BigBullion) https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/big-bigbullion-sha256-10-million-coins-bounties-trading-on-bittrex-715904 and ORO (Orobit) https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-orobits-sha256-mining-pool-hot-new-rare-coin-490556 out of those merge mining candidate names.

I don't understand what merge mining is, but the promotional ideas are endless for a combined coin with BIG. Do you have the BIG UNO?  Shocked

Also, is coin-pool.org down?

Thank you to whoever bought up Bittrex to .0066! That put some nice volume on the books.

I value all of our exchanges for Uno, but just based on sheer overall volume, we have needed to take action to retain Bittrex for Uno. There is a lot of money on Bittrex and Uno should be instantly accessible to it. That's not to say the other markets are less important -- lets be vigilent and try to use all of our exchanges. At least with Bittrex, we understand where the "line in the sand" is, at .2 btc/day minimum.  I think if we see less than .5 btc traded there daily, we should pay attention and do what we can to get things moving out there.

Closing the spread helps bring in traders. The market needs both buyers & sellers.  Everyone can't be a hodler, or there will be no coins to trade. Smiley Please consider putting aside a small portion of your stash for trading, to help keep the market liquid for new buyers. Likewise, always be ready to snatch up some bargain on Bittrex, even in small amounts. Even small trades keep the market alive and show Bittrex that there is community interest.

Again, special thanks to the big buyer today, and to everyone else who has stepped up to help retain this market for Uno. Please keep it up! Smiley

Does this signal the end of Super-Cheap Uno prices?

Uno moved back up to 41st place on CMC

There's still upside to get back to Uno's "normal" $500k cap.

Just read the BIG thread. It was depressing and coming back to this UNO thread feels like coming home again. I love the measured and intelligent discussion and development of concepts here that are bigger than just this coin, but that happen to suit UNO's characteristics perfectly. Thanks for an interesting year in cryptocurrency, UNO peeps, here's to a bright 2015 (and beyond)!

PS. go Bittrex!

The only reason I am big on BIG ... sweet ticker name plus their website is good enough to appear professional (so there is value there if the BIG community is was smart enough to back up the website just in case!?)

ORO is a nice add too ... both names capture the 'Bullion / Commodity' idea.

I will be clear that UNO has a good network already.  The point is more to demonstrate that UNO is keeping up with the big boys ... BTC, LTC, VERT have merged mining ... well so to will UNO.  It is a signal that UNO is able and capable to do what ever the big boys do too.

"'trading-engines' are now in BETA!  I've have always thought this is a good niche for UNO to figure out.  Same idea as multi-pools but instead of mining and selling 'other coins' to buy up 'your coin' you catch the trading action on 'other coins' and turn the gains into UNO.  The only problem is selling UNO to get back into the trading action game ... like right now ... UN is in a bear cycle so not wise to sell off as it adds to the downward pressure.  But in bull cycles ... yes sure ... it helps cool the UN market and then gains are returned back into UN capital."

Yes!! But when the market is stagnant . . . buy more Bitcoin.

And: it's a mature community that can talk about trading other coins without fearing that folk will drift off.

And merge-mining? I am ignorant; will follow the discussion; and vote for the 'middle-of-the-road'

@ Gustav: I agree. We must be close close close to Uno's bottom-of-cycle

Right now UN is a 1year old baby so to young too handle big action ... but this is a cool added value concept that any uno trader needs to think and read up on ... as trading skills (market timing) get better we can have a merged 'trading-engine' pool?  Basically a managed fund, but governed by hard rules and executed by a bot.  NAUT is the best example (but the algo and it's performance still black boxed).

COLD STORAGE as EQUITY ... in as few words as possible

1.  create a new address/private key (in a secure offline manner or use the paper wallet generator)
2.  send UNO to new address
3.  publish address +How long you pledge not to touch
4.  don't lose the priv key Cheesy your word and honor and your UNO all depend on it

Hey, Benefactor! Bitcoin National mentioned (Post 4981) that "Block Chains have a really neat feature that few utilize. Permanent storage, almost like a burn but with the out option."" -- which you and I talked about a while ago; but we/I thought that it might be too messy to implement.

That is, if I understand a-right, the 'equity DVC thing' would be easy peasy if this 'really neat feature' is available to us.

But the possibility is not the same as actually doing it.

I would like (a) to be shown how the feature works, and (b) if that makes the equity thing much much easier in principle, then to proceed to discuss whether we would do it.

And if a trial was an option, I'd put up a chunk of Uno as equity for that trial.

'Cold storage'? No muckin' around: if someone will show me how this works, I'll put up 100 Uno today to launch an 'equity DVC' experiment -- though I would like the blessing of FK and Benefactor and Everyone on the idea.

@FN: yes, yesterday and yes in about an hour today on Bittrex. All smallish amounts (~0.1BTC in drips and drabs) but the volume is there. Will maintain this level daily whenever I can (ie. most days).

@BN: thanks for the simple summarised concept of backing and building value incrementally. I find such posts interesting and very helpful. Thank you!

@IMZ: looking forward to seeing more of this trading engine vision come to life. Exciting stuff.

IndiaMikeZulu reached an agreement yesterday. We have secured a little trading-capital. It's not a lot -- 3.3 Btc -- by the standards of many players here; but we're gonna set up two 'trading-engines,' and all the profits will be sunk into Uno.

[This initiative is on 'my patch.' You guys are welcome to ask how IndiaMikeZulu operates. For example, Ian and I discuss crypto technology and theory and trading strategies five days a week. He and I are the core, but there are about 7 people 'in our orbit.' It works!)

Your Friendly Daily Reminder:

"Have You Traded UNO on Bittrex Today?"

I will not let Uno go quietly into that good night.
Yes,

BTC Vol
1.31066486 BTC
UNO Vol
238.03104757 UNO

I don't know why the warning is still there, we been trading > 1 BTC every day since you alerted us.  That' well over the average volume that they are asking for...

The warning is still there because the UNO market will be evaluated on the 02nd of January, at which time, the average daily trade volume for the last 7 days must exceed 0.2 BTC.  The warning doesn't mean "any" 7 days, but rather, the 7 days prior to Jan 02nd.

+ What is the value of 1kg of UNO?

This is potent stuff!

If we do nothing but preach this idea. (outward)
In combination with backing that value point on solid foundations. (inward)

We achieve the essence of the name ... Unobtanium

You know who backs the value of UNO ... YOU do

The backers step by step build up the value.
We build a construct.

1 kg = $2
1 kg = 0.01 btc
1 kg = $5
1 kg = 1oz Ag
1 kg = $25
1 kg = 1kg Ag
and so on and on 'incrementalism'

The DVCs are instruments that
stress tests and measures the integrity of the construction.

The TTs guard that construction by proof of value. proof is the chart

2015 is going to be fun Smiley

@ Genesis will be part of IndiaMikeZulu's 'model,' but I will hold off for three or four months, 'til Uno's price is clearly lifting.

Uno was recently supported by cloud mining operation Genesis-Mining.
I've been mining with them about a month, and have had good results.
There seems to be a lot of Cloud Mining scams right now, and because Genesis is important to the Uno hash rate,  I thought I would offer a couple of links up to the community.

The first is a presentation given earlier this month by Genesis-Mining CEO Marco Streng. If you're still not sure what mining is, or how it works, Marco does a good job taking you through the basics.

http://bravenewcoin.com/news/marco-streng-at-bitcoin-south-bitcoin-mining-and-the-future/

The second link is all about vetting Cloud Miners.  This "Cloud Mining 101" thread ranks Genesis-Mining relatively favorably compared to others that are purported to be scams.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cloudmining-101-ponzi-risk-assessment-878387

The scary thing with cloud mining at Genesis or any other cloud miner is that your hash investment could quite literally disappear at the flip of an off switch in some far off land.

I'm going to up my hash at Genesis and keep in on Uno, which isn't an enirely rational decision (but you should know by now I'm not totally rational).. If you are also thinking about getting into cloud mining, first consider whether it might be better to just spend that money to buy Uno, rather than wait a year or more to see it paid back.    If you still want to take the plunge, then check out Genesis for 2 reasons: a) because they support Uno and your hash can go to help secure our network, and b) Genesis scores high as a legit operator.

Uno is also very well served by some reliable pool operators. If you really want control and have a desire to learn, you can now buy a 2nd-hand 1THS miner on eBay for around us$500, and prices are still coming down. If you know what you're doing, and you don't mind the heat and noise, high electricity bils and fussing with software drivers, then mining Uno at home might be for you.  Uno can use whatever hash you're willing to throw at it, whether through a pool, from the cloud or soloing at home.
